Open Image Capture, in the Applications folder, and manually upload it to the desktop. You should be able to import it into iPhoto from there.

I can't import my video from my camera. It won't work by connecting my camera to the computer, or by using the SD card slot.
Photos import fine, my video is only affected. I have the newest software.
    Please help!

Can you get the video file onto the Desktop via the card reader?l  What camera do you have?  You might have to go thru iMovie.

  • I imported video from a card into IPhoto and it plays in slow motion.  Any suggestions? Would importing into IMovie help at all?

    Hello
I am importing video and pics into Iphoto and the video plays in slow motion.  Would importing in Imovie help or does it have something to do with the type of camera or file the video is in?

It should. So they aren't shown in the Last Import smart album, right? Try the following:
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
2 - Run Option #4, Rebuild Database, followed by Option #1 if needed.

  • Downloading from flash card to iPhoto5

is it possible to download select photos from flash card to iPhoto5?
seems to me every time it wants to download the entire contents of the card, which is frustrating
if possible, then how?--or is there a workaround?

    Hi shelby,
You don't have that option with iPhoto, but you do have a choice using Image Capture.
Here is what I do and the reason why.
I started using Image Capture to download all my images and Movie clips so I could make easy backups of just the photos and movie clips. I actually like doing it this way a lot better. My movie clips are downloaded into my Movies folder where I then put them in a dated folder.
My photos are downloaded into my Pictures folder, where I then put them in a dated folder. I import the dated folder into iPhoto. I also keep all dated folders from photo downloads in the Pictures folder till I get enough Movie folders and Photo folders to fill a DVD. I burn them and then delete them from the hard drive.
This way I have the photos in iPhoto and I also have just the photos backed up to DVD.
The Movies I keep on the hard drive in their dated folders until I use all the clips for my iMovie projects for the Year. I then make sure they are all burned to DVD, then I delete those from my hard drive.
Using Image Capture to download images and video clips:
Open up Image Capture which is found in the Applications folder.
When it is opened, go to Image Capture/Preferences
    Under the General button choose
Camera: When a camera is connected, open Image Capture.
The next time you connect your camera Image Capture will open.
In the window that opens you will see an Options button. Click on that button to set your options.
To find out more about Image Capture (it can do a lot more) Click on Help in the menu bar when Image Capture is open.
iPhoto: How to Change the "Open Automatically" Preference
If you find you can't change any of Image Captures preferences or can't access any drop down menus or they are greyed out, check to make sure Image Capture is loose in the Applications folder and not within a sub folder.

  • How do I import video from a Sony DSC-HX100V Camera into iPhoto

How do I import video from a Sony DSC-HX100V Camera into iPhoto? . . . i can see all the photos but the videos are not visable (I also connected the SD card with a USB Sony SD Card Reader - again only the photos are accessible - no video files are shown) . . .

If you're shooting AVCHD then you'll need to upgrade to iPhoto 11v9.3 to import this material.
A note on AVCHD: This format was developed for people who are shooting to edit the material afterwards. If you're shooting to edit, then iMovie or Final Cut are the correct home for this material. If you're not shooting to edit consider using one of the other video formats on your Camera.

  • Importing video from a p2hd ag-hpx500p

Hello all, I have recently taken a job with a production company, and I am the most computer savvy person on staff. In the past we have used FCP to import video from a DV player, or through a camera and the Log and Capture option. We have been contacted by an online firm wanting us to do some green screen footage for them. We shot a small 30 sec clip on the p2 and I was able to import it using Log and Capture, but my problem is I cannot get the bitrate to their desired level. They want at least 40 or 50 mbits/sec. Is there another way to import these files at a larger bitrate, or is it the settings of the camera? I was able to connect the camera and open the p2 cards as portable storage devices, but the file formats are not supported by FCP. ANY suggestions would be helpful as I believe I'm in over my head here.
    Thanks in advance

  • Can't import videos from Sony A55

I can't import videos from Sony A55. Anybody can?

    Fellows,
I have an A55 as well and iMovie 8.0.6 and can not import the AVHD movies. When I look into my Kingston SD card I get a directory with 5 folders, AVF_INFO, DCIM, MISC, MP_ROOT, and private. In private there is a folder called AVCHD, in which there are 3 folders, AVCHDTN, BDMV, AND IISVPL. In BDMV there is 3 folders and two files. The folders are CLIPINF, PLAYLIST, and STREAM. In STREAM there are the .MTS files. I have tried importing them, importing STREAM, and importing BDMV, all without success. Do you know what I am doing wrong, do I need the new iMovie, any other ideas ?
    Thank you

  • Need some advise for import video in Flash

Hi guys, i got a problem with importing video in Flash.
Actually I know how to import video in swf
    There are 3 ways;
    1. loading external video with playback component
    2. embed FLV in SWF
    3. URL
Ye i know second way is easy and fast but it needs to control everytime when the contents are changed or fixed.
So best way for me and my work is first way
Problem is when i use first way then move full swf file to another pc, just video (in the swf) doesn't play at all.(i'm sure it's from wrong file path)
How to change the content path? I tried so many times but failed.. (just doesnt work and some error message appears on output)
Should I install flash program in another pc then replace all the file?
    Please I need your advise
    Thanks

I was able to tether my original Verizon Droid using EasyTether without needing to root the phone. The free version wont work with https sites, but its not expensive to buy the full version after you figure out if it will work. Its not fast but seems to work ok.

  • New Photos App - Can't Import Video from Digital Camera

Hi, everyone.  I just "upgraded" to the new Photos app, but I'm finding that I can no longer import video from my Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX5.  With iPhoto, this was never a problem.  All of the old videos I imported from this camera are there after migration, and are playable within the program.  Photos import just fine.  However, I get an error message for the videos (below).  I don't understand why I'm not able to import anything new from that device.
I opened iPhoto to attempt an import and it worked just fine.  Any help is appreciated.  I'm running Yosemite 10.10.3 on an iMac 2010.  Thanks.

    Hi there Jermaster
iMovie 3 does not support the camera you have. iM is a Digital Video (DV) editor. Cameras that record to mini DV tape is what is required. IM 3 does not support USB either. You need Firewire. The camera you have is a flash based Hard Drive camera. To get the video off this camera you'll need iM08 or 09.
But it doesn't appear that the computer you have will support either of these versions.

  • Where/how do I save videos from SD card to MacBook?

I have inserted the SD card and can play the videos, but where do I save them so that I can delete them from the card?

That's really up to you.  You could put them in your movies folder if you just want them on your computer(drag and drop videos from sd card into "movies" in the sidebar), or you could import them into iTunes (which will also save them in your iTunes library.  To do that you can select all the videos and drag them into an open iTunes window or right click them and select "open with: iTunes".

  • Can't import Video from Video Camera

I gave my father in law my old iMac (G4 Flat Panel running OSX 10.3.9 and running iMovie 3.0.3) - and we can't seem to import video from his digital video camera.
The camera is much newer than the iMac - it is a JVC G2-MG330HU digital video camera.
When the camera is plugged in (via USB) to the iMac, the drive on the camera shows up in Finder, but not inside the iMovie program.
If you try to import from iMovie, the camera (and therefore the video clip files on the camera) can not been seen.
    Any hints?
    Thank you.

  • Imported videos from Kodak PlaySport will play!

I just discovered today that iPad will import video from the Kodak PlaySport Zx3 and ACTUALLY PLAY IT! Granted, it will only play video shot in standard definiton, not HD. Since I couldn't find any info on the compatibility between this video camera and the iPad, I went to my local Best Buy with my own SD card, shot some test videos, then imported it to the iPad using the Camera Connection Kit SD card accessory.
    Here are the details --
    Capture modes
    (Imports, doesn't play) 1080p—1920 x 1080, 30 fps
    (Imports, doesn't play) 720p / 60 fps—1280 x 720, 60 fps
    (Imports, doesn't play) 720p—1280 x 720, 30 fps
    (Imports AND plays!) WVGA—848 x 480, 30 fps
Just wanted to share this info. Hope it helps someone out there!

Two posters mentioned GoodReader will allow you to import HD video from the Kodak PlaySport to the iPad. Two other posters said they tried and it only worked with photos (and maybe non-HD video).
If you have actually used GoodReader (or any other program, for that matter) to import HD video from the PlaySport to iPad, could you please post something other than a single sentence declaring that you can do it? Step-by-step instruction, for example, would be great.
For the record, when I use GoodReader and press the camera icon at the bottom, it opens the "Photo Albums" selection, but HD movie files are not shown (even though they are in the photo album and displayed with a generic movie icon).
    Thanks.

  • Sync and frame rate problems importing video to Flash CS3

Just like the subject states, I am indeed having frame rate problems importing video to Flash CS3.
When I export a video from Premiere with the settings:
    1280x720
    frame rate of 23.976
using H264 or Animation (basically every codec produces the same results),
"embed video on SWF and play in timeline"
When I do this the file exports fine. Playing it in Quicktime works fine and the audio syncs up no problem. But when I import it into Flash using the same settings, for some reason the movie clip is now too fast in that the video does not match the audio and seems to be at more like 12 fps now (just a guestimate). The action of the video is over long before the audio even comes in.I have verified that the frame rate is correct in Flash so it's not that.
I've done this literally hundreds of times in the past and suddenly it does not work and I can not figure out why. I'm not even really using video, but actually artwork that I am putting together as an animatic for an animated piece so the video could not have been imported incorrectly or digitized wrong either. Can someone out there please tell me how to make this work? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!
    -Mike

Thanks for you quick response however it really doesn't apply to what I am doing in any way. I will not be uploading the video to a server. I am using the imbed function so I can use it as a layer and then animate over it. It is just reference and will ultimately be deleted. The Fla file does indeed carry the same specs as I stated in my first post. I have done it this way dozens of times and I am trying to figure out why it suddenly will not work.
