Importing Video just stops after 1-2 minutes

Am using Director's Cut Take 2 to import Video from a VCR. On my old iMac this worked perfectly with iMovie 6. Now have a MacBookPro.
1st problem - the Firewire drive is not powerful enough to drive the Director's Cut! Now need an external Power Supply! Bad design flaw Apple.
Main problem - Video imports fine but after a time (could be anywhere from 30 seconds to 4 minutes but usually about 2 and a half minutes) the video simply stops importing even though the tape is still running. Sometimes it will start up again of it's own accord but more often than not - that's it - it's stopped.
Anyone know why the import simply stops?
The stuff that has imported looks fine!

Hi
*Not knowing the origin to Your problem - General approach when in trouble is as follows:*
• Free space on internal (start-up) hard disk if it is less than 10Gb should rather have 25Gb
• Hard disk is untidy: Repair Permissions, Repair Hard disk (Apple Disc Util tool)
• Garageband-fix. Start it and Close it. Re-try
• Delete iMovie pref file - or rather start a new user/account - log into this and re-try
• Third party plug-ins that doesn't work OK (not relevant for iMovie’08)
• Program miss-match: iMovie 5.0.2, up to Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.4.1 - is OK
• Program miss-match: iMovie 6.0.3 or 6.0.4, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.4.1 - is OK (might work under Leopard)
• Program miss-match: iMovie’08 v. 7.0.1, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.4.1 - is OK (might work under Leopard)
• Screen must be set to Million-colors
iMovie pref file resides:
Mac Hard Disk (start-up HD)/Users/"Your account"/Library/Preferences and is named: com.apple.iMovie.plist
While iMovie is NOT RUNNING - move this file out to desk-top.
Now restart iMovie.
From LKN 1935: (in this case = iMovie HD (5), I tried it all, but nothing worked.
Your answer (above) has been helpfull insofar as all the different trials led to the conclusion that
there was something wrong with my iMovie software. I therefore threw everything away and reinstalled
iMovie from the HD. After that the exportation of DV videos (there has not been any problem with HDV videos)
to my Sony camcorders worked properly as it did before.

  • Internet just stops after 10-15 minutes browsing

We have had this laptop about a year, mainly for work, but the internet browsing is a bit of a pain.  After browsing for about 10-15 minutes it takes an age to load pages and then just can't.  No matter how long you wait for it to catch up.  shutting down and turning on works, restarts don't.  Can't seem to get any help from the support line.
We are using Mozilla Firefox, but it also happens on Internet Explorer.

What is the COMPLETE Model Number?
Are you connecting to the internet via the Modem, WiFi, or LAN?
What OS are you using and at what Service Pack Level?
If you don't post your COMPLETE model number it's very difficult to assist you. Please try to post in complete sentences with punctuation, capitals, and correct spelling. Toshiba does NOT provide any direct support in these forums. All support is User to User in their spare time.

  • Audio streaming stops after about 13 minutes.

Audio streaming over the Internet just stops after about 13 minutes and has to be restarted. I need a solution

Thanks for your help! You helped solve the issue, albeit indirectly...
At this point, I want to share my experience, in the hope that it might be helpful to others:
After finding that chapter markers had nothing to do with the problem, I found that indeed my camcorder was set to the dreaded 12 bit. Oh dear! The original DV tape is long gone. (At first I did not expect this to be a problem, since I had made several DVDs successfully with the existing settings, but then there are all these horror stories in discussions about what 12 bit can do to you.)
So to rescue my movie, I found advice to "share" my iMovie back to a fresh DV tape, and then re-import it with the 16 bit setting.
This lead to the next issue: After a number of minutes of re-exporting to DV tape, the video received by the camcorder would freeze, while the audio continued. This happened at several different points in several differerent attempts.
So next I visited iMovie discussions, where I found advice to clean up my Mac. I used Mac Sweeper, and now indeed my Mac runs faster and smoother for many apps. I also downgraded my QuickTime version. But another attempt of exporting from iMovie to DV tape also failed, but now it failed at exactly the same point where the audio stopped in my DVD!!! (Even though on the export-to-DV-tape it was not the audio but the video that froze.)
Next I found that when playing that problematic scene in iMovie, the iMovie program would also freeze at that very point, making it necessary to "force quit" out.
In the end the solution was to chop out the problematic bit in that scene. Now everything works fine, including the iDVD step.

  • Okay, let's say you bought an album and there are a few songs on there where you only have half the song(the song just stops after a number of minutes/seconds). What do you do, and can you re-download these songs?

  • Audio stops after about 5 minutes

After rendering/encoding, the sound on my finished DVD stops after approximately 5 minutes. It is fine on iMovie, and also is there in iDVD when using preview.
In contrast to other posts in this forum, there are no slide shows on my DVD, and all sound comes from the camcorder together with the video.
I am using "Create Disc Image", and I have tried both playing back with DVD player from that very disc image, and actually burning it on a DVD and playing it back from there.
I have also thrown out the whole iDVD project and started from scratch by creating a new project from iMovie.
Since my DVD is just about 60 min, I have also tried both "quality" and "performance" encoding - same result.
The audio stops in the middle of a 4-min clip as defined in iMovie.
    I am using iDVD 5.0.1.
This process (importing from camcorder, editing in iMovie, building menus etc. in iDVD, creating disc image, burning) is something I have done for several DVDs previously without problems (but maybe with iDVD 5.0)

  • Fix for AppleTV photo slide show music stopping after abut 20 minutes?

Fix for AppleTV photo slide show music stopping after abut 20 minutes?

Just ran another series of tests ... I am now convinced that AppleTV's slideshow/screensaver is broken.
Too often it will 'get stuck' on one photo for minutes then show no photo and finally move on; in fact it is doing it right now.
I don't ever remember seeing this occur before the last upgrade.

  • My husbands ipad2 keeps freezing on the screen, when he has entered the password what ever he working on stops after approx 2 minutes. It only started this morning and has been working perfectly prior to this.  I purchased this 64gb 3G machine via eBay

My husbands ipad2 64gb 3G the screen keeps freezing. What ever you are working on stops after about 2  minutes the screen freezes and after another few moments you are required to put you password in again. It only started this morning and had been working perfectly until today. I purchased from eBay three weeks ago. If watching bbc new you can only watch for 2 minutes and same for video and games. Keeps coming back to screen saver where all icons are.  Sometimes we are to use the on off button to get it going again.  I set it up the same as my own iPad 32gb. Hope you can help? Thanks.

Spilled water without flavorings and especially without sugar is something from which your computer may recover. The best thing to do is to shut off as quickly as possible and remove the battery pack. Place the computer in a sunny window with the lid open to promote evaporation of the water. On top of a refrigerator is also a warm perch that'll promote drying. It is difficult to say exactly how long it takes to dry the computer; that depends on ambient temperature and humidity, and how how water is in there.
The biggest threat from the water is corrosion of metal parts, so drying quickly is a must. Also, water can form mineral salt deposits that can grow conductive dendrites between adjacent traces on printed circuit boards. The formation of dendrites is aggravated if you apply power before the machine is dried out. The worst damage would be if water managed to get in the breather hole of the hard drive - luckily, the way the drive is mounted, that would be fairly unlikely.

  • Recorded FLV just stops after a random time

    Hello:
I have some long (1 hour or so) flvs recorded from a small
flex app communicating with FMS 3.0.0. It is mostly audio.
    When replaying them from
    - a client Flash OR from (Method A)
    - FMS and then have a Flash client connect to the FMS Live
    stream (Method B)
The stream just stops after a while (variable: could be after
2 minutes or 20 minutes). It is very reproduceable which makes me
wonder how come others are not getting this as a google search does
    not show other complaining.
I get an Unpublished and then Stop status on the Flash Player
    for the stream.
Strange thing: If I play the stream direct from a player
(Method A above), then the higher the BufferTime and the longer it
takes to stop. With a buffer time of 5 seconds, it plays without
    stopping.
I actually need to run it with Method B. Setting all kind of
buffers on the server produces no noticeable results.
    Any idea?
I can send you my simple test codes for Flash player, FMS and
    the flv if need be.
    Thank you

  • My video justs stops

Having created a video (about 12 minutes) when I try to play it in the preview window it goes for perhaps 3 minutes and then the video just stops; the marker on the timeline continues forward, but the image shown remains the same. What am I doing wrong? I have a Windows 7 64bit system, i7, 12 gb of RAM, NVidia GeForce GTX 260. Thanks.

I spoke too soon. I added an audio track and now it is doing much the same thing; the audio plays through but the video in the preview window freezes. I can't believe how bad this program is. This stuff should just work! It is only a 12 minute video.
To answer the questions: NVidia GeForce GTX 260, updated yesterday, version 314.22   I am using Adobe Premiere Elements 10 (I upgraded from 9 and then didn't use it for a few months before they brought out 11). Source footage was raw and .mov files exported from Lightroom4 to a folder from which I am accessing from PE10. I chopped the stills resolution in roughtly half in order to try and avoid the problems I am now having so the the jpgs are roughly 1mb each and the movie clips (now mp4) unchamged. Camera was a Canon 5D Mark 3. Using 29 point whatever it is speed.(the one that is nearly 30 frames per sec.). Camera was set to that and I haven't changed anything. I get the impression that the computer simply can't handle the amount of data yet is is a reasonably fast i7 processor and has 12 gb of RAM. Any further help much appreciated. Adobe is lucky to have users that are prepared to help others like this.

  • When I play songs on my itunes account, they stop after about one minute and itunes goes to the next one.  how do I fix this? These are songs in entire albums that I have purchased.

when I play songs on my itunes account, they stop after about one minute and itunes goes on to the next song.  This is happening with songs on albums I have purchased direclty through itunes

Assuming you are in a region where you are allowed to redownload your past music purchases, delete the broken files from your iTunes library, go to the iTunes Store home page, click on the Purchased link from the Quick Links section in the right-hand column, then select Music and Not on this computer. You should find download links for your tracks there.
If you don't see them straight away it may help to close and restart iTunes.
While downloading select Downloads in the left-hand column and make sure Allow Simultaneous Downloads is unticked.
If the problem persists, or that facility is not yet available in your region, contact the iTunes Store support staff through the report a problem links in your account history, or via Contact Support.

  • When using my new nano 7 with nike , my music stops after the 30 minute voice alert even though I have set my run for over 30 minutes. It cancels/deletes my run/workout when the music stops. This has happened several times. How can I keep this from happening

When using my new nano 7 with nike+, my music stops after the 30 minute voice alert even though I have set my run/workout for over 30 minutes.  It also cancels/deletes that run/workout.  This has happened several times.  How can I keep this from happening?

If possible I would arrange for a good service center to go over it. Hopefully they have a variety of parts in stock. They can test and verify all is working. The previous attempts are based on guesses by the person at the other end of the phone without diagnostic tests to assess the culprit. It is extremely unlikely for a webcam to fail & for it & a Mic to fail together should be an indicator to a good technician it is something else. EG Motherboard
Take it to a servicing dealer and wait for it.

  • New update ios 7.1.1 causes podcasts to stop after a few minutes

After the update to ios 7.1.1 on my Iphone 5 my podcasts stop after a few minutes. Then I hit the play button again and the podcast again plays for a few minutes and it stops again. Etc. Etc.

    Hi Quasarseggventures,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities. I understand that the Podcasts application is unexpectedly quitting when playing different podcasts. There may be a few different troubleshooting steps that could resolve this for you. I would suggest using the multitasking menu to close Podcasts and open fresh. If you have already done this or the issue continues afterwards, I suggest restarting your iPhone and possibly deleting the app and downloading it fresh. All of the steps you need are outlined in the following article.

    Hi,
Is this failing with Error 20 ?
Sometimes in a the router or modem if you use Port Forwarding then you are your Buddy may be missing the Screen Sharing Port.
The Screen Sharing part uses a different port to the Audio port.
As the port for Audio (And therefore Video) are known and can be port Forwarded it is the random Screen Sharing port that can be the problem.
iChat 3 info http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1507 that includes Bonjour and Jabber info
    iChat 4 info http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2282
If you are not using (or your Buddy) UPnP then I would change the method of opening the port to that.
