Importing video recorded in elp mode

i know you can only import video into iMovie recorded in sp or lp mode. does anyone know how i would be able to import something recorded in elp mode?
do i need to buy a different version of iMovie or a different program altogether? I currently have iMovie HD.
any information would be helpful. thanks.

Hi t
a. Avoid all other than SP-mode. LP-mode gives severe audio sync. problems and lot's of drop outs.
b. Only way to save Your elp-mode material might be to import it via the analog-out on Your Camera
(has to be same as recorded!) and via an Analog/Digital video bridge as Canopus.
In this case I would try to find anyone that has an ADVC-300 that might repair some drop-outs.

  • Problems importing videos recorded from my iPhone 3GS to iPhoto

I am having problems importing any videos recorded from my iPhone 3GS onto iPhoto. iPhoto keep giving me the following error:
"Error downloading Image. iPhoto cannot import your photos because there was a problem downloading an image."
If anyone else is having the same problem, please advise on how to fix.
    Thanks,

I am having the same problem...
and Image Capture ( didn't know we would normally be able to use it, but you can) also give an error
    "Import Error"
Now I have used "ITimelapse pro" to transfer some timelapse movies (about 3 that are about 30 to 60 seconds long) that I made to the phone's photo library.. and I has a very long video that I mistakenly made - (15 minutes long or so) and I "trimmed" it to be a few minutes long. -- and used "JotNot" to send a photo to the photo library... otherwise I have only some regular photos (about 40 ) and about 2 regular videos in the library.
so any suggestions... ( I am emailing all that I can to myself ... maybe ridding everything will help)

  • DVD tapes recorded in ELP mode

I have made videotapes on a Canon Elura 20 MC videocam. The tapes play normally in the camera, however I cannot download them to iMovie for editing. My camera is set in SP mode for the download but the clips do not download. Is there a workaround that will allow me to download and edit my tapes? I have followed all recommendations about disconnecting cables, etc. I can't find the slot to change the backup battery for resetting on the camera! Instructions too vague. HELP!! It is my vacation in Mexico!

    Hi Lucy
Is Canon Elura 20 a miniDV camera ?
Does it have a FireWire port - and are You using it ?
    USB/USB2 doesn't work at all !
Did You record in standardplay-mode (SP) = 60 min per tape
    or in longplay-mode (LP) = 90 min
If You can avoid LP mode and 12 bit sound DO THAT - You will
only have a lot of trouble in selecting this.

  • Importing video recording directly to laptop, WHILST recording

Hi - is there any way to import what it is that you are recording with a digital video camera directly to your laptop while you are actually recording it, rather than having to do it afterwards?

I have the same question too. I just did a test and it seems as if you can record with the video camera attached to your computer and set up with iMovie '08. You click the Open Import Window, wait to make sure your camera is recognized in the Camera/Record Mode. Click the Import button, select where you want to save the event. After you click OK, the recording will start. You click Done to stop the recording. I'm still experimenting with it, but that seems to be how it works.

  • No sound when video recorded in silent mode

I recently accidentally recoreded a video when I had my phone on silent, when I went to play the video, now with the sound on my phone on, there was no sound in the video. I thought this was because I recorded with my phone on silent but then spoke to a friend about it and he said that it still should have recorded sound and I should be able to hear it as long as my phone's not on silent when I play it. But this isn't the case. I also tried playing the video on my laptop and still had no sound, so for some reason it hasn't recorded any sound. Why has this happened and is there anyway I can fix it and somehow access the sound that should be on that video?

Yeah I had the volume up as loud as it would go and still no sound.
On my laptop it said that there was no audio stream on the video, so I'm guessing it's failed to record the sound?

  • Video recorded in landscape only plays in portrait mode on HD tv

I recently obtained iphone 5s. I've recorded several videos with the phone, in landscape mode. When I try to play the videos connected to my tv via HDMI A/V cable the videos will only play back in portrait mode (quality is distorted and horrible).
Same goes for the videos recorded in landscape mode on my old 4s (which prior to IOS 7 would play back in proper mode).
Phone is not locked in portrait mode.
Video will play on phone in landscape mode...just won't play in landscape on the TV.
Hope this makes sense. Thanks for any assistance!
    D.

I had the same exact problem.  Some of my landscape videos would get squashed into a portrait size view on the TV.
What I did as a workaround was to hold the phone in portrait mode, play the landscape video, and if it didn't fill the screen correctly, I would swipe the video as if I was going to another video/photo, but without lifting my thumb/finger, swipe it back so that it returns to the original position.
What happens is that the video on the TV screen should resize into a smaller landscape image (with the circle play button in the middle of the image).  Then usually when I hit the play button again, it will play properly in landscape mode and, more or less, fill the screen properly.
I find it odd that so few others have faced this issue.

  • IPhone 4 video recording

Wondering why whenever i transfer videos that ive recording on my iphone 4 back to iphoto the resolution is vertically oriented - as in I can't make by video fill the screen, its just a tall, thin, vertical column of video. I suspect it has to do with the resolution the video was recorded in (720x1280) and my monitor's resolution 1440 x 900. Yes? If you are using a macbook pro are there any options or workarounds for this?

ahh.. stupid me. leave it to apple to make the solution maddeningly simple. you want 16:9 video - record in landscape mode. duh!
Neither here nor there but i would LOVE a phyiscal button camera trigger. Loved it on Camera+ until they disabled it.

  • Importing DV tape recorded in LP Mode

I copied a 1970's VHS tape to Mini DV in LP record mode. The Mini DV tape plays perfectly on the camcorder with rich colors, but the imported video in iMovie is jittery & the colors are washed out. The main issue is the video seems unsteady, like it's loosing some frames. Does it matter if imported video is recorded in SP or LP record mode?

Hi Joe - thanks for your input, but I'm not sure exactly what you mean -
I re-recorded using the SP mode with the same results. On the camcorder, the video seems perfect. The video fills the whole screen. Imported into iMovie, it seems there's a little space at the top & bottom of the project window with some digital noise going on in that space. I know that doesn't explain it well, but the imported video is just not as smooth looking as it is on the camcorder.
I'm not quite clear on this - you seem to be saying that SP mode was not as smooth as LP, and that there's space top and bottom (and yet you say your re-recording had the same results). Also, I would have thought it would be the other way around.
Or do you mean that you originally recorded and imported it to iMovie in LP mode, and then re-entered it into iMovie with the camcorder set to SP?
    Yup! Now I'm totally confused.
    Could you elaborate a little?

Administration - Marketing -> Import, you can set a parameter value "Import mode" for what to do in case of duplication as "update existing records", "Import new records". The final report of this import is presented as a text file that can be viewed in Business Administration - Marketing -> Import -> Exceptions. Whatever the exception, including duplication import occurs during import and recorded in a text file.   What are the fields that determine the duplicity? How I can I can change those?

You will be returned anything that is in the option's value parameter. What is displayed in the dropdown and what is put in the value attribute do NOT need to be the same, so maybe you should start there.

    No.
You will need to transcode to one of the FCE Easy Setups.
Match the converted file to the specs of the chosen Easy Setup, audio & video.
Srteamclip from Squared 5 is a free app that can do the job.

  • Macbook 10.5.8 record video and sound, i movie only seems to be able to import video

I need to pracitse a speech and wish to video and record myself on my macbook, previous posts point me to i movie but on my version it only seems to offer to import video and not record it.  Can this be done and how.  I do no need professional quality it is own for own viewing then deletion.  Thanks (PS am a bit computer illiterate so please use laymans terms!)

Mac OS X will install in whatever language you wish, and will offer you the option when you first boot from the installer disk. Other than perhaps labeling there won't be any difference in the disks.
    Regards.

  • Miglia Director's Cut - Importing Video but recording skips!

I'm importing some old home video's into i-Movie using a brand new video recorder going through Migia Director's Cut (SCART Model), into i-Movie.
It worked well at first but recently when I'm captring movies the recording seems to skip and miss a couple of seconds of recording at a time.... I've double checked the video's in another recorder and they play fine.
I've checked my hard drive memory and I've got 50 GB free.
Has anyone got any ideas why this is happening and any suggestions how to avoid this?
    Many Thanks
    Graham

    Hello, dbloom,
Is there a particular reason you are using Miglia for VHS conversion/capture?
I captured my old VHS tapes the way the other poster suggested by recording them onto DV tapes in my camcorder. (My computer setup is not convenient to do any direct connections from a VCR with a converter). Then, I imported the DV tapes to iMovie directly from the camcorder. I had no stoppages of imports/capture; the importing continued as long as my DV tapes, some of which were 80min.
This method also gives you a digital copy of the original VHS tape. I don't know about yours, but some of mine were getting to be pretty bad. I like having the DV tape of the raw footage to save. The DV versions are actually quite a bit better than the VHS tapes.
I have made iMovies of our family movies and photos of 15 years so far, burning the final edited versions to DVDs. I think I have made at least 40 movies so far, most of which are nearly 2hrs long. I also save the final movies back to DV tapes so that I have multiple backups of our family movies.
Just to add my 2 cents worth
