Importing videos on the iPad

Has anyone figured out how to add video from a desktop computer to a keynote presentation?
For example, I have some video files in my camera, and when I use the camera kit to move over all the media in my camera to my iPad, those videos go into the 'photos' app on the iPad.
When you try to add a video to keynote, it only searches in the photos folder for images and video, so I can easily add video that I uploaded from my camera to keynote, which is good.
However, if you do all the proper conversions of a media file on the desktop (I.e. Changing avi to mp4) and then drag over these video files to the iPad, they only show up in the 'Movies' app, and not in the photos app where you need them to be selectable in Keynote.
How can I put videos in the 'photos' app to make them accessible by keynote?
(note, I have tried uploading videos to my camera from my desktop first, and then using the camera connection kit, but that doesn't work since my camera don't allow adding of files to the SD card.)

.mov file import to iPhoto - how I did it
create album in iphoto
import .mov to library first rename it thus...img_1234.mov (numbers don't matter, avoid 0000)
add the .mov file to the new album
in itunes iphone sync options, in photos, find album and tick it AND on that page tick INCLUDE VIDEOS
in "summary", tick "include only ticked songs and videos" (dunno if this last particular step is really necessary but it doesn't hurt)
(disclosure: I actually sync very little media content with iphone, don't sync with icloud so this is a per-project thing and reset to original when accopmplished)
Sync phone
Now in iMovie, your clip will be pickable
I recommend you use it and output/save your complete iMovie asap
Go back to iTunes on Mac and de-check include videos and the album you checked in "photos"
Sync again, it will be gone from phone
One other little iMovie1.3 thing: if you are using any of the trailer formats - they require video, not stills, so plan ahead...have something you want to use in your trailer that acts like a still? video a few seconds of it with your phone (or import as above) first

It looks like the card may be the problem, and your best bet is to try the Card Reader - this will make the card accessible by the Finder and you may be able to drag the pics off to the desktop or, at worst, try recover the pics with an app like MediaRecover

my question is how do i import video from my iPad to my macair?

Plug in to Mac, open iPhoto and import the video. From iPhoto you can then export it to another folder via Export.

They will be backed up only until you backup again. iCloud is not a storage drive in the sky, it is a backup service only. If you delete the photos and videos from the camera roll, and then you backup the iPad with iCloud, you will overwrite that backup and the photos will be gone.
Import the photos to your computer if they are that important to you. iCloud is for backup only, not a storage place that you can download your photos from again once you overwrite that backup.

  • TS3634 videos on the ipad see andd play videos but imovie dosent see these items

i have imported the videos into several different formats for the ipad to try and see them and they do, however the imovies dose not see them at all. how do iget them to see these items so i may edit them in imovie

You need to save to the camera roll of the iPad, not the Movies app.
So you will need to save the videos to the iPad via the Photos Tab.
If you can see the video in the photos app then iMovie can see them.
If you can see the videos in the movies app then iMovie cannot (Movies is for copyright movies so iMovie does not look there).
There are a few threadson here that have the same question as yours.
You can have a look at them.

  • How do I delete imported photos on the iPad in less then 2000 clics?

    Hi.
I've been using the iPad to collect photos form my digital cameras.
I have a few thousand of such photos on my iPad.
Today I wanted to delete them (because they take a lot of memory and are synched anyway after correction).
I could only find how to delete them by selecting them one by one on the iPad .
On the Mac, I use Aperture, which has no option (AFAIK) for deleting imported photos.
How stupid is that that you can import thousands of photos on the iPad and not delete them in under 1000 clics?
I just found out that I still have iPhoto on my Mac, so I am going to import pictures from the iPad to iPhoto and use the option to delete them.
Anyone with a less ridiculous solution?
    Thanks in advance,
    Jerome.

The iPad's file system is hidden and not accessible unless perhaps you have jailbroken the iPad.
Not jailbroken. The OP asked about photos that were imported, not sync'ed.

The import photo albums generated using the CCK are accessable just like the "Saved Photos" album.

    Hi Michael,
I'm glad iTunes is working now!  If you want to locate iTunes plug-ins on your computer, you can find them in the following locations (you may not have the iTunes Plug-ins folder if you do not have plug-ins):
    Mac:
    /Users/username/Library/iTunes/iTunes Plug-ins/
    /Library/iTunes/iTunes Plug-ins/
One thing I also wanted to mention is that the "Users/username/Library" is hidden in Lion and Mountain Lion.  You can access it using these steps:
OS X Mountain Lion: What is the Library folder?
The Library folder contains files used by OS X and your apps, including your personal fonts and preferences. The Library folder is hidden. If you need to open it, make sure you are in the Finder, hold down the Option key, and then choose Go > Library.
You can find the full article here:

  • Is there a way to import photos to the iPad without the photo also appearing in the Camera Roll?  I have a Photo Transer app that lets me wirelessly import photos to an album but they also appear in the CR and when you delete from the CR the photo is dele

Is there a way to import photos to the iPad and put in an album without having the photo also in the Camera Roll?  I have a photo transfer app but when I import the album and photos they are also shown in the CR.  When you delete them from CR they are deleted from the album too.

You can sync photos from your computer via iTunes, and each folder that you sync will get its own album : syncing photos. You will need to sync all the photos that you want on the iPad together in one go - synced photos can't be deleted directly on the iPad, instead they are deleted by not including them in the next sync.
In terms of albums that you create directly on the iPad no, effectively you are just creating pointers to the photos in those new albums, so if you delete the original photo you will therefore also be deleting all pointers to it.
You could consider a third-party photo management app instead e.g. Photo Manager Pro

  • Failure importing video from the Desktop in iMovie 2009?

When I attempt to import a folder of .MOV videos from the desktop into an existing project in iMovie 2009, it appears to go through the loading and importing steps, but the entire process and loading bar only occur for a matter of seconds, and no video appears to be imported.
I have tried importing the video as a new event, and the process happens the same way, this time creating a new event folder in the Event Library, but with nothing in it.
I have tried selecting only one video, also to no avail.
I have also tried to import videos formatted in .AVI, this failed.
Anyone had this issue, or know a fix/workaround? At this point I don't know how to import video from the hard drive into a new project at all. Dragging the files from desktop to event frame within iMovie does not work either.

Well, I think the 9-pin to 4-pin cable is the best way to go. Get your camera's power adapter out and plug the camera into the wall first. Once the camera's got power, put it into VCR/playback mode. Then also go into the Menus on the camera and also check your manual to make sure you are sending the video signal out through the firewire and not just through the RCA video jacks. I don't know if the GL2 has a control for the Firewire jack, but just double-check that to make sure it's turned on.
Now setup the Mac to recognize the camera. Shut it down completely and plug the firewire cable into the Mac. Make sure your camera hasn't gone to low power/sleep mode. Startup the Macintosh, when you see the desktop appear launch iMovie. Then go to File Menu > Import from Camera. And in that window that pops up it should list your GL2 in addition to the iSight webcam.

Won't work shooting in 60P format. But will work fine in the others. I use the built in card reader in my Mac and it shows up fine in iMovie.

  • How do I put videos on the iPad w/o synching with iTunes?

I just bought the iPad 2 from a friend of mine.  It is "tethered" to his computer.  Meaning it won't let me sync my iTunes videos and music to it w/o doing the erase & sync.  I'm hesitant to do that just yet because I have already dialed in the settings I like, and he has some paid apps I don't want to get rid of.
    My question is...
Can I put videos on the iPad without iTunes?
I've tried apps like Drop Box, but they don't let you download to your iPad.  Just stream.  and when I'm at work, I have no internet connection.
    Thank you.

Unfortunately, if you want to make full use of this iPad, you really have no choice, but to do an erase and resync with your own iTunes/Apple ID account or create a new account of your own.
There is really no workaround. If you want to sync to your own iTunes library, purchase music, movies, books, and apps of your own via Apple's iTunes Store, you'll need to completely erase and resync this iPad. As it is, if you wish to purchase apps that aren't free, they'll end up being charged to your friend's Apple ID account. I do not think that'll be appreciated.
If you insisted on leaving the iPad in its current state. I was going to suggest a paid app called Photo Transfer App that also allows transfers of movies that might work for you, but because you're still linked to your friend's account this would not be advisable.
Plus, using this iPad with two different accounts (one on your computer and a different one on the iPad) you would end up purchasing this app twice to get the functionality you need. Again using your friend's account.
The paid apps on this iPad will always be linked to your friend's Apple ID account.
You really need to reinitialize (erase) and resync with your own iTunes and Apple ID account and purchase these on your own.
Sorry if this is not the answer you've been looking for.

  • Duplicate imported photos on the iPad

Regarding duplicate imported photos on the iPad:   Is there an automated way to detect and delete duplicate photos, specifically imported from the camera connection kit.  Assume no iTunes syncing, mac or PC.  First party solution preferred, third party app welcome.
Consider the senario, Camera card contents are imported, the card is reinserted into the camera without deleting previous import, new photos are taken, "skip duplicates" is ignored on new import, all photos on the card are imported, resulting in duplicates.
Happy to add additional information, just ask.

    SUGGESTION:
Install the Canon EOS Utility that came with your camera. Also check for an updated version of the EOS Utility after the install. You need to install from the CD first before you can install any updates.

If the EOS Utility can download the CR2 files to your hard drive, then your camera is not defective.
