Importing videos shot with a digital camera (consumer still camera)
Hi all,
I am having trouble with having to render any part that's changed even by a frame. I've got a Fuji F30 digital still camera that I used to take some 320x240 videos that I wanna just splice together. I've tried all kinds of sequence profile changes to the Audio/Video Settings (Photo JPEG compression, Movie A, None, H.264, and all kinds of audio settings) and testing each one by converting the file in FCP's Media Browser to match. Always the red "unrendered" bar.
Am I missing something? Or if it came from a digital still camera, am I just "stuck"?
Ok, I answered my own question thru trial and error. The answer, for anyone stuck like I was, is that once you have a sequence open, the A/V settings of that sequence are not changed by "Audio/Video Setup." You have to right-click on the Sequence in the browser and change the "Settings...", or click on the Sequence and choose "Sequence > Settings..." from the menu.
Silly newb. Do I get points for answering my own question?

Thanks!You have the option of creating a lower quality version that will work on both or make a copy for each. 30 fps isn't something I come across too much being in the UK but when I do I make a copy for each, I suspect my Apple TV 1's will be obsolete some day and then I'll delete the lower quality copies.

Why can't I import sound with video into iMovie from digital camera?
This is disturbing. I have a digital video camera that took great video + sound. I import into iMovie (using my DV cable that came with the camera) and get video but no sound.
Now, in the past the sound came in, but no longer. Any and all advise is requested. I have to make number videos of lectures starting Wednesday evening and have to be able to provide video with audio.

I have no problem importing sound with video when using the internal video camera mic. No problem (other than sound quality issues with the speaker being 40 feet away from the camera's internal mic!
But I can play back the video made with the external mic in the camera and the sound is stunningly clear, crisp and loud. It's just a matter of getting it out of the camera into my Mac. I don't think it's the microphone; it must be the computer.
I just find it sad to believe that Apple's software is so limited--even in Final Cut Express HD. -
Why can't i import videos shot on iPhone 5s to PP 5.5?
I can't seem to import videos shot with my friend's iphone 5 to Adobe Premiere Pro 5.5. However, out of all the videos shot (94 in total), i managed to import 4 of them.
What premiere pro says.

My video that was taken with a digital camera and imported into iPhoto plays back at a very fast speed. Any ideas why?
Is it a slow motion video? iPhoto does not understand the slow motion tags created by some cameras, eg.g. the iPhone back camera.

Hi. I just discovered my videos from my Canon digital camera are not compatible with imovie or idvd (I'm very disappointed about that.) The photos are stored in my iphoto and I can burn a dvd using idvd but there is no audio So.... I need new software. I have a Mac OS X 10.5.8 and my digital still camera is the Canon Cybershot These are home movies of my kids and the viedeos are precious. Thanks in advance!

Sound with mgp digital camera video clips
I cannot get the sound onto my ipod, the Video clips from my digital camera are fine and play fine, but no sound
Hi bj1,
First off, are these video clips in a compatible format for your iPod? They will have to be in either one of these formats:
M4V, MP4, or MOV
If it is in one of those formats, then let's proceed onto resetting your iPod. To reset an iPod:
First, toggle your iPod's "Hold" switch back and forth a couple of times (make sure that you leave it on the white side of the switch, which is "Off")
Then, press and hold the Menu and Select (center) buttons together for 5-10 seconds.
You might need to try this several times before it ever ends up working for you.
For more effect when you reset an iPod, you could try connecting your iPod to a power source, like a wall charger or your computer's USB, while you reset the iPod.
If resetting doesn't seem to do anything, then I would suggest that you try reconverting these video files using a third-party program.
For example, you could use MPEG Streamclip, which I have heard is good, and not buggy software.
After you've converted those video files, delete the old ones off your iPod, and reload the video clips (the newly converted ones) onto your iPod again.
Does it work now after trying that?

Please, please bring out a Zen Vision:M with integrated digital camera!
Is there some chance to contact the development division of creative and ask for a Zen Vision:M with integrated digital camera? there are mobiles out there with 0 Megapixel cameras and they don?t have a 30 GB disk space.
There would be nothing better then have this nice Vision:M mp3 player with an integrated camera..
one additional use for Vision:M besides using for listining to mp3 is to keep and carry around photos with it anyways.. so why don?t they bring it our with camera? wouldn?t need to take photos with another devise, transfer these photos to the pc/mac and then transfer them back on Vision:M.... just carrying aroung one devise would be so much better... but I guess that is also some marketing stuff... first sell this generation of Vision:M, and then wait some time and come out with the new generation of players, with finally integrated camera... or maybe just wait, until ipod brings them out first... anyways, I really don?t see a technical problem for this...
Olympus m:robe 500 put a mp3 camera on the market a couple of years ago, though it can't really compete with Vision:M on the mp3 player part.
any comments from anyone?I actually disagree, reason being that when you take into account the cameras that are build into the phones they are at most adequate, 2MP is the current theme (at least in UK I think). The option/settings/tweeks with the phone cameras is poor when you look at it, stand alone digital cams offer better features compared with phone digicams, then you have the power too, to dri've a good camera if you have one then you know required decent batteries, storage (ok you have a hard dri've so that is sorted) but take into consideration that you will always get better results with a digicam than phone cameras and you can see that would be a waste of time for the time being.
There is an old saying "Jack of all trades, Master of none" and this seemes to hold true to the phone cameras. Don't get me wrong it would be nice to have it only and only if you have all the features of the stand alone one with big resolution and so on, heck I have a Nokia 6230 and like it very much but my old 3.2MP Cannon (by all means not the best and not the newest?in the world) gives me far better/superior results than the the one on the phone even can. What would be cool to have is a port where you can hook them both up and use the Mp3 players HDD to store (I know you can on some Creative players) your snaps without having to buy or have attachments, just plug a mini USB and you are off. Technology as always moves forward and an astonishing reate and new gadgets?come out?and quality improves, battery life lengthens and so on, so we might even see this happen. Missing photos when importing from a Fuji s602zoom digital camera
I noticed that when I import the photos from my digital camera (as above), sometimes there are some missing. No error messages displayed and the import seems to finish OK.
This makes life difficult as I cannot now trust iPhoto and have to check every import.
Any suggestions would be helpful.Neville:
On those occasions where the camera drops some photos are there any movies on the card?
A workaround is to use Image Capture to upload either to a folder on the Desktop first or directly into iPhoto. It's not recommended that you have iPhoto erase the card after import as there have been too many cases, yours for one, that have incomplete uploads and complete erasures.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. Has anyone compared video shot with an iPhone to that shot with an iPad Touch, and edited on an iPad with iMovie?
What was the results? Is the iPhones camera significantly better than an iPod Touch for video?

My computer is no longer allowing me to import video from my Sony HDR camera. I don't know if it is the operating system or the version of imovie or what. I also have imovie 06 and I was always able to import into it and can no longer do that either.
