  • Why does importing a file crash Adobe?

    Hi again
Quite often i find that when i am importing a file into Adobe it will crash the program, resulting in loss of work. Occasionally it will back up my work but 8 out of 10 times it won't!
Does anyone know why this is happening?
    Chris

What type of files are you attempting to convert. Remember, you are using pre-release software. Please let us know the details of your system. If you can, post an eamil address or an FTP site so someone on the forum might be able to take a look at your files. Currently I am converting many file types without issue.

  • Tempo problems with imported wav files

Hey everyone, sorry if there's a quick fix for this in the forums that I couldn't find, but I've been having some tempo problems with imported .wav files.
Long story short, my system couldn't handle playing all the tracks for a song while recording drums, so I bounced out an mp3 of the song and put it in a new Logic file so my drummer could just play along to that as I recorded him. Unfortunately, the original song is at 167 bpm, but I forgot to change the bpm in the new Logic file with the .mp3 file of the song to 167 bpm, so it was left at the default 120 bpm.
So, the drums were recorded at the correct 167 bpm, but Logic thinks that those new drum .wav files should be played at 120 bpm, so when I import my drum tracks back into the original file, they do not play correctly at all.
I could get record it all again, but I wanted to check if there was a way I could salvage what I already have, since my drummer lives about an hour away right now and can't just come over whenever he wants.
Thanks for the help! I really appreciate it.

    Hi,
First, do not use MP3 in Logic, the sound quality is less than AIFF, WAV or CAF, and Logic has to decode it for playback, making it a heavier burden on the CPU than an uncoded audiofile, such as AIFF, WAV or CAF.
Secondly, audio files are independent of Logic's tempo. If you bounce down an audio file in any format (other than Apple Loop), it will play back at the same speed, +regardless of Logics' tempo setting+, either at recording or playback. Logic doesn't 'think' anything. The BPM is only important to MIDI tracks, or to the spacing between audio files. The audio files themselves *are not affected* by the tempo setting. If you import an audio file of tempo 167 into a 120 BPM project, the file will still play at 167, only Logic will indicate the wrong bar positions.
    regards, Erik.

  • How to Import .MOV files in Adobe After Effects, I am Using Canon 700d for FilmShooting

    Hello,
I have Just brought a canon 700d and started Shooting HD Movies but now i want to add some effects in my video E.G. Twixtor effect for slow motion but I am facing a problem that i cannot import .MOV file in Adobe AE CS4. Please help me. Also If you can tell me any free converter for .MOV to AF file format.
I am using Windows 8 OS.
    Thanks!

CS4 is much older than Windows 8. CS4 is meant to work on XP or Vista. Getting it to run on Windows 7 was a bit of an issue, so I'm pleasantly surprised to hear that you have CS4 running on Windows 8 at all.
It's also possible that a new camera records in a codec that such an old version of AE doesn't understand.
Make sure you're running the latest update to your version of AE. You're on version 9, so make sure you've run the Adobe After Effects CS4 9.0.3 Update (I would not suggest updating in the middle of a project though, as any changes might break AE). I would like to reiterate: you're running a version that was released six years ago on an operating system that was released much more recently. So, be careful how you tread. However, if you're not running 9.0.3, you're missing some bug fix updates that might solve your problem.
I would suggest upgrading to a newer version of AE.
That being said, as Dave mentions, CS4 and earlier had lots of trouble with MPEG-4 and other codecs that used interframe compression. Can you open the files in your version of Premiere? If so, you can use Premiere or the Adobe Media Encoder to convert to a proper intermediate codec. MOV is just a container format. QuickTime with the PNG codec will work in After Effects CS4 with no problems as will the other codecs Dave mentions.

  • Importing wav. files into itunes on MAC OSX

I have a question, hope someone has the answer.
I am a new mac owner, new ipod owner too.
I currently have 200-300 gigabytes of SHN and FLAC files on my PC (mostly grateful dead soundboard recordings).
I am planning on converting these files to WAV. format with "artist", "album" (show date), and "song" ID tags.
I then plan on copying these WAV. files to my imac or separate external hard drive formatted for MAC OSX.
    OK THE QUESTION (finally, no?),
When WAV. files are imported into itunes are they automatically converted to the MP4 AAC format?
I have looked in the itune PREFERENCES menu I go to ADVANCED and see that there is a control for switching file formats for importing CD'S but there is no mention of importing WAV. files.
On another note it is too bad that Apple has not come up with a file conversion utility for itunes, where FLAC, SHN, and WAV. files could be converted to MP4AAC, Apple Losless, etc...
I appreciate any answers to my question, and also comments regarding the general subject of audio file conversion on the MAC OSX.
    Thanks

    Hi,
Firstly, I must point out that WAV doesn't support tagging, so there is no point in converting your compressed FLAC and SHN files to WAV before making the move over to a Mac.
Rather, it would make more sense to use the free and excellent Max to convert all these files automatically to the format of your choice, such as Apple Lossless. You can even run multiple conversions simultaneously, so you could, say, convert your whole lot of files to Apple Lossless while at the same time convert the same lot to AAC for use on your iPod. The program is highly configurable, allowing you to specify destination directories and whether or not the output files are added directly to your iTunes library. Also, the tagging will be preserved when converting FLAC and SHN files to supported formats.

  • Importing .wav files on LE 8

For some reason when i import the .wav files they play very slow. Please help. I have had no trouble before importing but this is the first time I am importing .wav files. I thought it would be easy.

    Yeah, maybe.
If you import a file with 96KHz and play it back with 44.1, without any kind of conversion it will play about half as fast. Maybe that's the point. You can, however, convert the files in the Audio bin. (Thats to where you should import them to, btw)
If everything else fails, you can still speed them up using time&pitch machine.

  • Importing wav files with dead space?

I'm curious if anyone else has experienced slow loading times/overview calculations when importing wav files with lots of dead space into Logic?
Working on vocal comps from a Pro Tools session. Logic has no problem importing full takes (24-bit, 44kHz wav files that basically start at the beginning of the song). But alternate takes that might have complete silence until the 3rd chorus, for example, take forever to load. 10+ minutes in some cases.
If anyone can shed some light on this or share a similar experience, I'd appreciate it.
Tech details, if it helps:  Macbook Pro 2.53 GHz Intel Core Duo, 4GB RAM, Lion 10.7.2, Logic Pro 9.1.6

Well, iTunes has no ability to undo edits, so the problem may lie elsewhere. Please try the following extra-extra-careful procedure:
    - Edit the file and save it.
    - Exit the editor.
    - Make sure you know filename/location of the edited file, and that you are not confusing it with some unedited copy of the same song.
    - Play the edited file in some other player than iTunes and make sure the edits are as you wished.
    - Now, add the file to your iTunes library.
Pls try this and let us know.

  • Importing Wav Files in Soundtrack 4

How do I import wav files to Soundtrack 4?
    Thank You!

Open a new multitrack project and set the view to standard. In the right pane in the bottom half select the Browser tab. Locate your WAV file so it shows in the browser window and then click on it and drag it onto track 1.
Use a multitrack project if you want to export to compressor, or export directly out to an mp3.
If these considerations are unimportant, you can just double-click the WAV and it will open a new audio file project.
    Hope that helps.

  • Cannot import wav files

I'm relatively new to working with captivate and am trying to
import a .wav file into a slide. According to a book on Captivate
from Icon logic - it says that captivate supports mp3 files and wav
files. It also says that that when imported, WAV files are
converted to mp3 format. When I try to import a wav file I get a
message that says "unable to decode and import the selected sav/mp3
file". Does anyone know how to address this? thanks!

    Hi Sue
The answer to that is a definite "it depends". Here's the
deal. Captivate does import WAV format. But it only understands WAV
format that has been what is called "PCM Encoded". There are
different encoding types for audio files.
You may find that you never encounter this again. Or, you may
find that nearly every file you choose to import has to be
converted. It all depends on the original encoding of the file.
I realize this answer is a bit on the vague side. Apologies
for that. Unfortunately there is no definite one size fits all
    answer here.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Importing Wave files

I have imported wave files into my project but they somehow loose one side of the stereo. I can change the panning and make it mono but I'm wondering why it's doing that. The same files play as stereo outside the project. What am I missing?

    They aren't losing anything.
When you use audio clips that are a *stereo pair*, the pan control displays as all the way to the left -it can't display both. Unlink the stereo pair and you will see that you now have two audio tabs in the Viewer, one panned left, the other panned right.

  • How do I import .flv files to Adobe Premiere 12?

How do I import .flv files to Adobe Premiere 12?
    thanks,

    XTimeTravelers
If the details are as stated in your latest post, there are no inconsistencies here between us. Misunderstandings, probably.
Photoshop Elements 11 and Premiere Elements 11 are standalone programs. Each comes with the same (but its own) Elements Organizer 11 and each with its own Editor section. When a given version (Photoshop Elements 12 and Premiere Elements 12 for example) is on the same computer, that version shares the same Elements Organizer catalog. All that being said....
All you are saying is that you can import a .flv file into the Elements Organizer 11 that came with Photoshop Elements 11.
    a. Photoshop Elements 11 is a photo editor and will not support video (flv or otherwise). We agree on that.
    b. Elements Organizer 11 that comes with Photoshop Elements 11 does support the import of .flv files there for organizational purposes. And, you should be able to playback the .flv file in the Elements Organizer 11 (you may need VLC player, not sure on that requirement...but it is possible). You can do the same for Elements Organizer 12.
All we are saying is the you cannot import a .flv file into the Premiere Elements Editor, be it for Premiere Elements Editor 11 or 12. And, you have not said that you have. All you are talking about is your experiences in the Elements Organizer 11 which should be the same for the Elements Organizer 12.
So, we are in agreement on everything.
    Summary:
You cannot import a .flv file into the Photoshop Elements Editor (any version) because it is a photo editor. You never claimed you did.
You cannot import a .flv file into the Premiere Elements Editor (any version) even though it is a video editor. This particular video editor (11 or 12) does not support .flv.
The Elements Organizer of these programs is another story where it is possible to import the .flv for organizational purposes and even playback.
Does that make it all come together for you?
Please review the above and then let me know if I am out of sync on what you wrote and how I have interpreted it.
    Thanks.

  • How do you import .WAV files into Presonus studio one pro on a Mac Mini

I am new to this type of forum and I don't know how to ask a good question but here goes.  I have a Mac Mini and I am getting very frustrated with my presonus DAW software.  I was able to import .WAV files int o my PC Real easy but I don't seem to be able to find out how to do it with my Mac Mini.  I clicked on import files and the files would magically transfer themselves into my DAW on my PC, but with the mac it doesn't want to do it the same way.  I E-mailed the software company but they told me to do lit just like I have been importing with my PC but it doesn't work.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  I might also mention that this is my first Mac and I am not too familiar with the operating system yet, and besides all that I am fairly new to computer recording.  Please help I am going nuts.
    Thanks Abel

Convert the DVD's VOB files into a format that works natively in FCE.  For DVD footage (which is SD), use MPEG Streamclip to do the converting.  Here's a tutorial on using MPEG Streamclip: http://www.secondchairvideo.com/?p=739
MPEG Streamclip is freeware, but you may need to purchase the QuickTime MPEG-2 Playback Component from Apple if you don't have it already.

  • Header Error when importing Wav files

The problem I'm experiencing is that Premiere CS6 will not import my Wav audio files. When I try to import them it gives the following message and fails to import the file:
"The file cannot be opened because of a header error".
The original audio file, which opened happily in FCP 7 (I'm migrating the project to Premiere from a previous Final Cut Pro project) is in the following format (as described in the Movie Inspector of QuickTime Player):
    Linear PCM
    16 bit little-endian signed integer
    2 channels
    48000 Hz
Although the files won't open in Premiere, they will open in Adobe Audition, which gives their bit depth as 32 (it also describes the original format as "16 bit little-endian" - I confess that this technical side of sound files is unclear to me).
Any suggestions of how I can coax Premiere into importing and opening these files?
    Thanks, Andrew

Perhaps some of the suggestions in this thread: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4713932#4713932 will be helpful?

  • Creating FCE files for Adobe Premier

I have miniDV videotapes of some corporate presentations that I need to provide in a format to a client so they can use it on their intranet.
In providing DVD's burned on my Panasonic consumer deck, they have not been able to get the media off the DVD's very effectively. All kinds of problems. Who knows what codec is used on this stuff? I suspect the problems lies therein.
Client is working with Adobe Premier to title and segment the training media, and to create files for their server., I suspect.
Can you suggest how I might be able to take my miniDV's and create them in a digital file format that would be compatible with their Adobe Premier? I only have Final Cut Express which I use to import taped media onto my hard disk. But if they were to provide me with an external drive, can I create compatible files using Final Cut Express that would work with Premier? What format would that be? (And FYI - I'm a Mac guy. They're probably PC.)

    Thanks so much.
The standard def DVD's I've made have been straight from the camera into the DVD recorder. Recorded in SP mode using rca connections. New HD Canon XH-A1S camera I have does not have s-video connection for better video (thus RCA's), but that is neither here nor there.
Anyway, is QT, just plain simple QT? Or are there various QT formats that could be created for Premier using FCE (and which would be best)?
