Importing Web Image Galleries (CS4)

I am having trouble importing a web gallery.
I wanted to import a flash image gallery in to Dreamweaver CS4, only I have since discovered that they have been removed from CS4. I have since worked out how to build a web gallery in Bridge CS4 and save it to my hard drive. How can I insert this into a dreamweaver page? and what settings do I have to consider?

David Powers has a step-by-step tutorial on his site about this.

  • How to import an image sequence in CS4

Hello!  I am working on a big project today and I'm importing images in by the hundreds.  Is there an easy way to import an image sequence into the timeline?  I remember there use to be with earlier versions of flash but I can't figure it out for CS4 - Luckily these images are named sequentially.  Any help would be much appreciated, thanks!

Ah that was the problem!  i needed to import to stage instead of library -facepalm- thank you so much!  you've just saved me hours and hours of work!  now if i can just get it to import to stage without flash crashing

  • Image import dialog box InDesign CS4

The Image import dialog box has no "turn off" box to select after I turned it on to place a page in a PDF document. I am in Indesign CS4. How do I turn off this feature. It is showing the window now every time I import an image.
    Please help.

There should be a tick box called Show Import Options
File>Place and you should see it.

  • Problem resizing imported jpg images in flash cs4

when i import a jpg file in flash and then resize this with the transform tool to for example 50% of the original size
then im not getting the same result as resizing it in photoshop.
if i first resize it in photoshop and import the image is smooth and looks the way i want
but if i resize in flash the image gets edgy and not so good.
so is there a way in flash cs 4 to resize the image with the same result as resizing it in photoshop or
    similar?

    thanks for advice =)
but the size of the jpeg will maintain the same?
seems like that, otherwise i think photoshop is the only option..

  • Problem when importing two photo galleries with the same name. Please Help!

    Hi Guys,
I'm not a pro in dreamweaver so I would appreciate if your answer wouldn't be too technical...
Anyway I have experienced a problem. Heres the sotory, I have been making a websie in DW and used Adobe Bridge CS5 to create a photo gallery SWF file that I would use for my website. The problem is that I want to use two different photo galleries on two different pages however when I save my second photo gallery in bridge, it saves every file with the exact name as the first photo gallery I created and is working fine... Thus when I try to import the photo gallery files into my website folder structure, I find that it asks me to rename them because the files from the first photo gallery are called the exact same names.. Now obviously when I try to rename them dreamweaver gets confused and goes to the wrong folder and uses the images from my first photo gallery in the second one.
So I guess my question is how can I organize my folder structure to be able to import multiple galleries without dreamweaver getting confused because bridge names all the files the same. Or how could I save the files through bridge so that they have different names and will work fine when I import into DW...
Thanks and sorry for the essay,
    Patrick

#1 You cannot have two files / folders or galleries with the same name.  Redo your image Galleries with different names.
#2 SWF (flash) is not visible to iPhone, iPad, iTouch, Android or other web devices that don't support Flash Player.  These users will see nothing.  You might wish to explore other photo gallery / slideshow options that rely on jQuery instead of Flash technology.  Some links below.  A Google search will reveal many others.

  • Downloading Linked Web Images

I do a lot of photo-manipulations, and one thing I need are lots of different images to play around with. A couple of the women in my manipulations group are very good at searching out images and post new galleries of images each week. Downloading these images is a long, repetitive process (not as long as trying to search for them myself, but still hours each week if I want to snag them all).
Automator is supposed to help deal with repetitive processes, and indeed there is a sample workflow called "Downloading Linked Web Images" on the front Automator page. It goes like this:
1> Get current webpage from Safari
2> Get image URLs from webpage (set to Get URLs linked from these webpages)
3> Download URLs (where: Pictures is set in example, I set it to where: Incoming Downloads, the folder I download everything to and which is set up as a safe zone in Norton Anti-Virus)
The workflow goes on with the following step to add the photos to iPhoto, but I stopped it here because I don't want the photos in iPhoto.
4> Import photos into iPhoto (add to: either choose album with a pull-down menu or new album with a input box for the name, checkbox for "delete the source images after importing them")
This workflow doesn't work, and I don't know why.
On one of her galleries it said it sucessfully completed, but all it did was download an html file that when clicked on gave me a linking instructions page, which linked to the small version of the first photo in the gallery. (I replaced her actual name with "username" in the address to protect her privacy.)
    href=http://username.multiply.com/photos/photo/15/1>353474_3995.jpg
On her other galleries, the workflow stopped at step 2 with this message:
    AppleScript Error:
The command exited with a non-zero status. (255)
I have no idea what that error is.
The steps I currently go through to download photos from her galleries are (again I've substituted "username" for her real name in all the addresses):
    1) Open gallery address in Safari. They take this form:
    http://username.multiply.com/photos/album/15
    2) Double click on one of the thumbnails, which opens a page with a small version of that single photo. The addresses take this form:
    http://username.multiply.com/photos/photo/15/1
    3) Double click on the small version of the photo to open the large version. The large version addresses look like this:
    http://username.multiply.com/photos/hi-res/15/1?xurl=%2Fphotos%2Fphoto%2F15%2F1
    4) Command-click on large photo and choose "Save image to Incoming Downloads."
    5) Either hit the "back" link on the large picture page or the back button on Safari to get back to the small picture page.
    6) Either hit the back button on Safari to go back to the gallery page, or hit the "next" link on the small picture page to go to the small picture page for the next photo in the gallery.
    7) Either: a) from gallery page, repeat from step 2, or b) from small version page of next photo in gallery, repeat from step 3.
Continue to repeat until I've downloaded all the pictures I like, or I'm totally exhausted, or I have no more time. This one person's galleries have between 60 and 300 photos each, and she updates three to five galleries each week.
My group also has other people who put up galleries of images less often, but usually with more images. Last weekend one woman put up a gallery with 4387 pictures!
Downloading pictures one at a time takes forever, and the process should be able to be automated. If someone posts galleries that aren't entirely new images every week, it would still be much faster to download everything and trash the pictures I didn't want.
Does anyone know why this workflow won't work? It's one of the two sample workflows Apple has posted to demonstrate how Automator works, so I'm very surprised to find it doesn't work. BTW, I did download and install the latest version of Automator & X-code tools before trying the sample workflows.
    Can someone help?
    Thanks,
    chinchilla_gurl

    James
Not sure I can help you with Automator but here's two options:
Hazel (http://www.noodlesoft.com/hazel.php) will watch a folder for you and import the pics to a specified album
    Or
Right click on the iPhoto Package File in Pictures and go 'Show Package Contents' In the resulting window you'll see a folder called 'Auto Import'. Make an alias to the folder and drag it to the desktop. Pics dropped onto that folder will be imported the next time iPhoto launches.

  • How can I add a PSD logo watermark file to an image in CS4 or Lightroom3?

    Hi,
I have a psd file with my company logo as a watermark. How can I add that file to an image in CS4 or Lightroom3. I am sure it is really simple and I am just a bit dopey but would appreciate the help.
    Thanks.
    Natalie

This is fully explained in the help file. Hit F1 and go to using the watermark editor, you will see there is is also a video tutorial so I won't repeat the advice here.
You will need to change the PSD to a PNG in order to use it and retain any transparency layers. Open the file in Photoshop and choose save for web, then select either the PNG 8 or PNG 24 preset and save a copy of the file.

  • How do I import an image with an opacity mask from AI into FW

I have created a graphic in AI which contains several images with associated opacity masks. The mask use a radial gradient to achieve the desired effect. I am unable to import these images into FW with the mask effects intact even though the layers appear to be there. What am I doing wrong? I don't see away to do it in FW directly. If there's a work-around that would be appreciated too.

Fireworks' masking is pretty good. If you have your object and your mask in FW, arrange the objects so that the mask is above the object, select both, then click on
Modify > Mask > Group as Mask
Where the mask is white, your object will be fully opaque. Where the mask is black or 100% transparent, your object will be fully transparent. Where the mask is grey or partially transparent, your object will be, as well, proportionally to the grey level/transparency level in the mask.
Fireworks also has some built-in masks to fade objects radially or linearly. In CS3, these are under
Commands > Creative > Fade Image
but they got moved someplace else for CS4. I can't find the info on that in the help, though, sorry. Oh wait. It might be the Auto Vector Masks:

  • Web flash galleries display photos in LR4.2 but html galleries don't

Web flash galleries display photos in LR4.2 but html galleries don't.
I get a black screen with "Loading" instead. And the loading never ends.
    Help? Thank you

Some galleries are displayed via JavaScript, so if they aren't working the make sure that you aren't blocking JavaScript.
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do not click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.
    *https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes
Check the "Tools > Page Info > Media" tab for blocked images (scroll through all the images with the cursor Down key).<br />
If an image in the list is grayed and there is a check-mark in the box "<i>Block Images from...</i>" then remove that mark to unblock the images from that domain.

  • How do I repair export settings in PS CS4 and import settings in DW CS4?

I've just transferred from Windows XP to Windows 7 Home Premium. My export files from Photoshop CS4 in Save for Web and Devices are hidden and when I click on Save, it saves back into the open file in Photoshop. The image cannot be found in the DW web images folder as in the past. I was able to tell Photoshop how to save the image in the past (ie image only, not html) but that page no longer appears.
Can anyone tell me where that hidden folder can be found?
Thanks so much for a reply.

Yes, I am the administrator and only person on this computer. The missing page is the "Save Optimized as.." window that allowed me to add the settings into specific files for DW. like Format, Settings, Slices and where to save. Is this a hidden file? if so, how do I get it back.
The oddest thing happened yesterday: I wanted to add Meta info for a pattern I was saving for DW, I went to file information, and while I was typing, suddenly the form changed to a totally odd Patient Information sheet and it would not let me get back into my own PS pattern. Is this something new? I have never added a Patient form, anyway, how did it get into PS? Any clues on this?

  • Need Help - Can't Import ANY Images into LR4.4 Since OS Upgrade

I can't import ANY images to LR 4.4 since upgrading my Mac OS to Mountain Lion 10.8.3 this past week. I downloaded LR5 Beta and all works well. I deleted LR5 Beta to see if it was conflicting with LR4.4 somehow and rebooted. Still no change. I can't import from my card reader (that says it can't even read the files) or from a location on my hard drive. I am beyond lost and frustrated.
The error message for importing is "Could not copy a file to requested location."
I need ideas. I am afraid to deleted and reinstall as I don't want to lose all my folders within. I looked all over the web and can't figure it out.
If you need any other info, please let me know. I am hopeful that someone can help me.

I added LR5 again and that works perfectly, but LR4 is still not working properly. I opened the preferences and catalog settings to compare...and they all look the same. I am beyond baffled. I don't plan on dropping more money for LR5, so I need LR4 to get back to working properly.

  • When importing an image into Flash, the filesize is reported incorrectly

I saved an image from Photoshop using "Save for Web" and managed to bring the filesize down to 56.5kb. When I import this image into Flash and click on the properties, the reported "Original" filesize is 1884.6kb which is a heck of a lot more. How can I import the image and retain the filesize without having to compress the image further causing a horrible quality image?

right click one of your bitmaps, click properties and tick "allow smoothing".  retest.

  • Image Date error on importing TIFF images from Disk

I have thousands of high quality (~100 Mb each) images in 20 folders on a 1 Tb hard drive. I have been using Bridge to manage the images, adding some metadata such as keywords and copyright data. I am considering importing all these images into Aperture and using it as the primary image management tool.
But I am concerned about an apparent bug in the way Aperture handles the "image date and time".
In Bridge (and GraphicConverter), the "image date" field is correct, directly from my CFV digital back on the camera and inline with the time of day the shot was taken (e.g. sunrise image at 6am). When I import the image into Aperture, the time gets shifted by 14 hours.
For example, an image in Bridge that correctly shows Date Created as 10/05/2009 7:36am gets distorted to 10/05/2009 9:36pm, exactly 14 hours later than the correct time. It was taken at 7:30 in the morning but, in Aperture, looks like it was taken in the late evening. It does not look like a time zone issue as the image was taken in the same time zone as my Mac Pro is set to.
I have tried deleting the masters and re-importing them with GMT +2 and GMT -12 in the two time zone adjustment fields. This gets the right time into the Image Date field but then the image has the wrong time zone data in the "Camera Time Zone" and "Picture Time Zone" fields.
I have tried running MetaData > Update Date and Time (with Master files ON) but it comes back with an error "no master files were adjusted ... because they have a format that does not permit modification".
I have tried running MetaData > Update Date and Time (with Master files OFF). It appears to work but I assume that the underlying file in the Aperture library still has the incorrect time.
Have others faced this problem? Is there a solution? Is it a known bug that Apple might fix one day?
    Regards
    Peter

I am seeing a very similar problem when importing TIFF files back to Aperture.
This is what I do and what I see:
    1. I import RAW images from my camera into Aperture. They show the correct date and time.
    2. I open an RAW image in Photoshop (CS4) directly from the finder. The image inside Photoshop (file/info) shows the correct date and time.
    3. After editing I save my image as 16bit TIFF and it still shows correct date and time.
    4. I import the new TIFF back into Aperture. The time is shifted back 15 hrs!
I can then go in and Metadata/Update Date and Time (no masters) and it works well, but it is a pain to do on each image I process.
In all cases camera and image timezone is set to US Pacific as it should be.
To me this seems like Aperture is somehow miss-interpreting the timezone when reimporting TIFFs.
I have not tried importing JPEGs or PSDs back but I will and will report back...

  • Importing CMYK images - Mac CS5

    Hi There,
I've searched the forums but turned up nothing (have noticed this a lot recently - is the search working currently?) so sorry if this easy.
We do a lot of print AND a lot of web which means we have a lot of CMYK images in our image library. In Photoshop this is easily handled but when we import CMYK images into Fireworks the colours go crazy.
Is there a way to import them and have them look correct?
The default colour management policy for CMYK images in Adobe apps is: none - don't change values. Wonder if this is contributing to the issue?
Any help would be much appreciated.
    Cheers

    Thanks Linda,
    That's a real shame.
I'm not after CMYK support in Fireworks but the color conversion Fireworks does is way off - especially for a CS5 app.
Is Adobe trying to kill Fireworks off or something? It's been very buggy on Macs up until CS5 and seems to have some surprising gaps - like no colour management.
I guess the safest and quickest way would be to do all our image libraries for websites in Photoshop.
    Thanks again.
    Cheers

  • Import an image as a canvas background

I have been trying to import a gif image as a canvas background
for a web forms application and am having a lot of trouble.
    Hopefully someone can help.
    I am running a SunOS 5.6 server,
    Windows NT client,
    Developer 6.0,
    Forms 6.0
We have set up the FORMS60_OUTPUT and FORMS60_MAPPING
variables. There is no trailing / in their defintion and TMPDIR
is not set. I use the file -> import -> image command to import
the image. It shows up in the forms builder window, but when
deployed to the web it shows a broken image icon. The forms
server is doing something, since a jpeg of my image gets written
to the directory specified in FORMS60_OUTPUT, it just doesn't
    show up on the form.
It is my understanding that the image is stored in the fmx . . .
    the online help says:
"Graphic Objects: A graphic object is a static image (either
vector or bitmap) that you import from the file system or
database and use as a static graphical element in your
application. Graphic objects are often used as background
pictures. When you save and compile a form module, graphic
objects are incorporated into the .FMB and .FMX files. You can
manipulate graphic objects in the Layout Editor as you would
    other objects."
But just in case I put a copy of the gif into the directory that
the fmx is in, the directory that the html is in, and the
directory that the button icons are getting pulled in from
(these show up fine, by the way.) but none of this seems to work.
I am at my a loss at this point and don't know what else to do.
Please help me if you can.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
Firefox and other browsers are just front ends that display email pages like any other web page. The actual emails, the settings, storage etc. are all stored and coming from the email provider's end and Firefox just formats and displays them nicely. You may have to go into the settings of the email account to see if the provider has an option to include images as signatures. If the provider hasn't setup an option to insert images as signatures, then it's may not be possible.
