Importing WITHOUT Auto adding disc / track number to file?

Why has Apple removed options to choose if you want to have disc and track numbers added to files when importing?
Does anyone out there know of scripting changes to iTunesPrefs.xml that can be made to customise options to stop this happening....

iTunes does that folder structure by default, and you can't turn that off.
edit - I meant, you can't turn that off when ripping a CD.
If you're adding files already on your PC, change itunes preferences > advanced tab to
keep itunes organized ...
copy files...

ITunes 9.0.1 - continuously adding the Track number to filenames?

Hi all,
So I recently added some MP3's I had into my iTunes 9.0.1 library (automatically added by iTunes; "Upgraded" Media Organization enabled), and all was well.
Until I noticed something very odd: When the files were first added, every single one had a "01" or "02" in the front of its file name, and I discovered this was corresponding to the track number - not all that big of a deal.
*But what's really driving me insane is the fact that _every time_ I play a song, the same number that was in front of the file name, "01" or "02," is automatically added in front of the file name. I.e., if I play an MP3 _fifteen times_, fifteen "01" or "02" will show up in front of the file name.*
Can anyone inform me of what's causing this and what a solution would be? (And how to restore the filenames of all the MP3's I added?)
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

Nota bene: The MP3's I added are Korean songs, with titles and artists typed in Korean. My speculation is that there's some kind of parsing bug with regards to how iTunes 9.0.1 looks at titles when it comes to foreign character sets... But I want to see if anyone else has been having this extremely annoying problem.

Problems adding Text track to .mov file

I am having a problem adding a text track to a quicktime file. I want to overlay text onto a PAL DV file. The original file size is 720 x 576 but when I add the text (as per the instructions in the QT Player Help) instead of having the text overlaid, it appears next to the Video image and gives me an image size of 1325 x 577. If I now export this as a "PAL DV" file, QT Player shows the whole 1325x577 frame whilst FCP accepts the file but shows only the video part of the frame.
I'm running QT 7.4.5 on a MacBook Pro with OS10.5.2. I have tried re-installing QT without success - this maybe because the Preferences seem to stick when upgrading/re-installing (?)
Any thoughts, help or, better still, a definitive answer to my problem would be most welcome.

Use the Movie Properties window to size your added text track to match the 720 width.
For viewing a DVD on a TV size it even smaller (700) and set an offset value of 10 pixels so your text doesn't get cut off during playback.

Moving from old to new hard drive, some songs lost track number in file nam

Anyone have thoughts on this? I changed to a larger hard drive a month ago. Copied everything over and things seemed OK. Synced daughter's ipod and things started acting weird. I compared old to new hard drive now and a bunch of songs are missing from the new drive but weirder is that some songs lost the track numebr in the name on the new drive - 04 loving.mp3 is now loving.mp3.
we can't find a pattern to why those specific songs are like that. any thoughts?

In MediaSource, do you right click the track in PC Music Library or My Computer?
I know that earlier versions of MediaSource may have problem reading the track number of files tagged by Tag&Rename. However, I have verified that the latest MediaSource v3.30.2 has no such problem.
If you are using MediaSource v3.30.2 and are still encountering problem with track numbers (tagged by Tag&Rename), I would like to see one or two of your problematic files. If you don't mind, please snd the file(s) to me at:

Importing CD to Artist folder\Album folder\file with track number and name:

I have a problem then importing my cd’s to my harddisk using iTunes.
On my previous pc I got what I want, Artist folder, Album folder and file with track number and name:
e.g.
D:\My Music\B.B. King\Blues On The Bayou\01 Blues Boys Tune.mp3
D:\My Music\B.B. King\Blues On The Bayou\02 Bad Case Of Love.mp3
D:\My Music\B.B. King\Blues On The Bayou\03 I'll Survive.mp3
But now I get:
D:\My Music\Compilations\Blues On The Bayou\01 Blues Boys Tune.mp3
D:\My Music\ Compilations \02 Bad Case Of Love.mp3
D:\My Music\ Compilations \03 I'll Survive.mp3
In iTunes my settings are Edit -> Preferences -> Advanced: iTunes Music folder: D:\My Music and checkmark in both: “Keep iTunes Music folder organized” and “Copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to library”.
My version of iTunes is 8.0.1.11

It will depend on the album. Gracenote considers anthologies, a collection of tracks by the same artist taken from different albums, as a compilation. In iTunes the compliation setting should really only be applied to a collection of tracks by different artists.

hi i had the same problem today when i updated my itunes to latest version. however, i have just found my songs in the 'itunes media' folder. this was accessed through 'my music' then keep clicking through until you find itunes media and all my library songs were in there and i then just added these files to my library and all were restored however, i have lost all my playlists but at least my 700 songs are back. very dissapointed with apple that they have let this happen with their latest update, the previous version was miles better than this one . hope you find them. stevo

When I go to my apps, it just lists them with their serial numbers but no download link.
What I've gleened from the download instructions imply I can only download apps which I've purchased online.
What's the point of assosiating the serial with my account if I can't do anything wth it? A glorified note pad?

don't knock glorified note pads. at least, you have your serial numbers.

if you have a problem dl'g, you didn't follow all 7 steps. the most common error involves failing to meticulously follow steps 1,2 and/or 3 (which adds a cookie to your system enabling you to download the correct version from adobe.com).

ITunes doesn't import Track Number

Hi, I am having a problem with iTunes 7 and my new iPod 60GB Video. I currently have my entire library in Windows Media Lossless Format. When I have iTunes convert these files it often assigns all files or almost all files to track number 1 instead of the correct track. Does anyone know how to fix or correct this so it imports the correct track number?

I'm having the same problem. Oddly enough, the track numbers do import correctly for some albums, even though I encoded them all identically using Microsoft's Encoder version 9. I've been playing around with the tags trying to find some explanation. No luck so far.

Upgraded Online - Can't track without a tracking number

Hi there. I upgraded my phone online yesterday. I received a confirmation email from Verizon and was able to check on the status of my order by following the link in my email. The link said that my new phone has shipped and that I can track my order through the Fedex website. The problem is that the tracking number field is blank. How can I find out when my phone will arrive? Seems I have to sign for it, I want to make sure I'm home.

I'm kind of frustrated about that too. When I ordered my phone through the store, the man specifically told me that the credit card would not be charged until the phone had been shipped. Well the date the phone was expected to ship was 12/27/2011. The money was charged onto the card on Monday, 12/26/2011 which means my phone should have shipped yesterday like it was supposed to and be here today. I have no received my phone and I already saw the FedEx man drive through my business area. I'm not a very happy camper! I never did receive an email with a tracking number though telling me the phone had been shipped. But I'm still very angry!

We created a new company code in system and need to assign new tracking numbers when creating PR to this company code.
Can you please advise where I can find customizing for creating these new tracking no ??? The best would be path in SPRO
Are there any other setting which needs to be customized when want to use PR for new company code??

Selecet ME51N, click Details, you will find Requirement tracking number in Reference data, item selection group.
Mark tracking number as required entry.

No Tracking number on Recovery disc software

Aloha all,
I've ordered recovery software for my computer, and I haven't been provided with a tracking number.
I chose the basic shipping option of Postal service and I just want to know if this is normal when just ordering recovery software.
If anything, I want to know if my package arrived safely, and I want to know the progress of where it is.
I also want to know if the basic postal delivery method is through UPS or through the mail that will deliver it directly to my mailbox.
I apologize if this is in the wrong category, but I just want to make sure everything is alright with my order.

No one will be able to answer your questions here on behalf of HP.
When I have purchased recovery disks for my HP PC's, they have always e-mailed me an order confirmation number, and then another e-mail when the recovery disks were shipped. No other info was provided to me.
They have always come by first class mail with no tracking number or delivery confirmation.

I thought I posted this yesterday, but it disappeared...
Is there a way to have iTunes 8.1 to manage my files (name or rename a track according to it's title, and keep the folder structure as supposed), whithout adding the track- and disc-number?
I think this is rather annoying, since I often end up with files like "01 01 01 title of track 1.m4a" (or similar)...
I just don't find the button to disable track-numbering...
