Importing XML Unkown Error Occurred

My system recently crashed and after finding my files with Data Rescue II I am in the process of trying to move all my important data, preferences, etc back to my Mac from my external HD. I am having some issues with my iTunes Library. I try to import the .xml, but I get the unknown error 50 message. I have moved the file to my desktop and tried to import, but still get the same thing. As far as I can tell their is information in the XML file as it is almost 5MB, but when I double click it to view the data Text Edit opens, but there is no writing just blank space. Can you help me try to solve this? If not can my iPod be used to salvage any of this data?
Thanks

Hi, can someone help me with this? I've been browsing troubleshooter and topics for days and yet I can't figure out how to fix this one. This occured when I've got my computer reformatted and installed a new iTunes. I can't put anything on my iPod shuffle. The message "The iPod cannot be updated. An unkown error occured. (-36)" keeps on showing everytime I try to put songs on my iPod. I don't know what triggered this. Hope someone could shed some light. Thanks in advance!!

It is actually more simple than iTunes lets u believe.
If you just download an older version of iTunes, most likly the one u had before u updated ur computer, that should fix it and then you can update ur ipod and then get the newer version of iTunes.
Thats what i had to do when i got that exact same error just a few months ago.
If that dont work let me know.

Using a Mac, OSX 10.6.8; My internet connection is working properly, I can reach all sites via browser, yet I get the following message in iTunes:  "iTunes could not connect to the iTunes store. An unkown error occurred (-54)."

I have the same issue with almost exactly the same environment...
    iPhone4S (32GB) running iOS5.0
    Windows 7 Enterprise
    iTunes 10.5.2.11
iPhone has been set up to wirelessly sync when on charge yet I get this error when the iPhone is not even charging!
I work for a mobile network operator and although this isn't something we support anyway, we would usually stumble across something like this when customers call us for advice prior to contacting the manufacturer for support, yet this hasn't been a call driver so I'd imagine this is isolated... (either that or not many people have updated their device and set up the wireless sync lol)...
    Hey Apple! Any ideas? :-)

  • 1) How do I restore a spreadsheet that says "Spreadsheet couldn't be imported. An error occurred." & 2) How do I prevent this from happening?

Several times on my iPad, I have been getting the following message when trying to open a Numbers spreadsheet that I've been working on:
"Spreadsheet couldn't be imported. An error occurred."
The icon had already turned into a generic Numbers icon at that point in time, and the iPad doesn't allow me to email this file. I would then try to recover it on my iPhone, but Numbers/iCloud had already automatically deleted it. I've tried resetting my iPhone & iPad and restoring the previous day's data, but my hard-earned work was still gone!
This was a fairly large spreadsheet that I would make changes to multiple times throughout the day with either my iPhone 5 or 3rd Gen iPad. They are both updated with iOS 6.1.2 and Numbers 1.7.2, and both have iCloud turned on for syncing Numbers documents. I travel and work throughout the city on a daily basis, so I get a mixture of connection speed from LTE, 4g, wifi, to none.
I've made it a habit to make additional copies of my spreadsheets each week, and now I'm resorting to making additional copies at the end of each day. Sooner or later if this keeps happening, I may have to make annoying copies of the file every time I make a minor edit. This isn't how iCloud or anything from Apple is suppose to work. Please help out with this problem.
    Thank you in advance.

    Thanks den.thed,
Apologies for not replying back sooner - I've been away.
Although your suggestion helped me in getting a copy of Lion that I could use, it didn't help with the restore from Time Capsule issue.  I had to download the Lion app onto my MacBook & then transfer it across but it wouldn't let me upgrade my OS for some reason, so I ended up wiping the iMac completely and restoring via my Snow Leopard install disk.  For some reason, this time, it let me have the option of using Setup Assistant to access the Time Capsule for a complete restore.
Now, over a week later, with various bits of tweaking and reinstalling some apps that didn't seem to come across, I have my system back.
    Thanks for the help anyway.
    Cheers,
    Paul

  • The iTunes application could not be opened. An unkown error occurred (-50).

I was using iTunes with Windows 7 without problem. I recently updated to the latest version of iTunes (Version 9.2?) and now everytime I try to start up iTunes I get the message "The iTunes application could not be opened. An unkown error occurred (-50)." I tried everything in the Online help section of the Apple website for Windows 7, including "repair", deleteing iTunes and reinstalling, and nothing works. What is going on? Does anybody else have this problem?

Thanks. I actually looked at some of your previous advice on problems with Windows 7 and I disconnected my computer to wired and wireless networks, closed all programs, started CHKDSK and rebooted the computer and that solved the problem. iTunes is running perfectly so far. Unfortunately, I wasn't paying attention when CHKDSK finished and didn't get to see the report so can't let you know what it actually did, but it accomplished what all the the other solutions I tried did not (set up new user account, remove/replace preferences, remove/replace libraries. remove/reinstall iTunes, etc.).
Thanks again for your attention to this issue.

  • The iTunes Library file cannot be saved. An unkown error occurred [-1450]

Has anyone encountered the following iTunes error,
" The iTunes Library file cannot be saved. An unkown error occurred [-1450] "
Whenever I shut my iTunes down the next time I start it up the library seems to be lost. I can do an Add Folder to Library from the File options, pick my iTunes Music folder and copy everything back in. However the whole repeats when I close iTunes down again. Have tried re-installing iTunes but this did not work.
    Has anyone got any suggestions,
    Thanks.

    == Error -54 ==
From an OS9 reference, error -54 is a software lock on a file or a permissions error. (Some of the old codes still apply to OSX although there is no formal list of OSX error codes.)
First, try simply restarting your computer.
iTunes Library cannot be saved (Error -54) - https://discussions.apple.com/thread/1912814
Unknown error (-54) while syncing ipod - https://discussions.apple.com/thread/1082953 - problem was locked files
Why does iTunes keep showing a -54 error when I sync my iPad? - https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3727114
Error -54 possibly related to Touch Copy - https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3727114 - cleared by deleting preferences on iPad.

the ipod could not be restore. an unkown error occurred (1437).

It doesn't specify "1437," but since this happens during a Restore, try the suggestions in this document
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1372
If your shuffle is 3rd or 4th gen, you can ignore the bit about the iPod Reset Utility.  That only applies to 1st and 2nd gen shuffles.

When attempting to open a spreadsheet, I get a pop-up that says "Spreadsheet could not be imported.  An error occurred"  Does anyone have any ideas on why this is happening?

I am unable to read any Numbers files in any app, other than the Apple Numbers app, on an iPad using v7.0.2. I can still view them on an iPod using v6.1.3.
Something has changed but I am unable to figure what.

  • Error Message: cannot be imported an unknown error occured (-50)

I get this message when I try to import audio and video files to the library. "cannot be imported an unknown error occured (-50)" I've already tried disabling anti-virus software and deleted any spyware on the system. I'm running windows xp with service pack 2.
I would like help fixing the problem.
    THANK YOU

hmmmmmm. this can sometimes be caused by a damaged itunes library file in a particular XP user account.
What are the iTunes Library files?
let's try an experiment aimed at trying to work out if that's what is going on in your case. (this isn't a cure, it's more of a diagnostic technique.)
    let's try an experiment.
quit itunes. head into your user accounts control panel and create a new user account with full administrative rights. (there's help documentation on how to do that at the left of the control panel screen.) while you're in that control panel, switch off "fast user switching" in your logging-on preferences.
now log out of the old account and log into the new account. launch itunes.
the library in there will be blank, because there's a different set of library files in that account. try importing a CD in that account. does it go through okay, or do you get the (-50) there too?

  • An unkown error occured (-1).?

After couple hours  on iMac .I  figure out to check the windows machines.
here is the error message which ipad2 is try to send to apple.
I do not know if it is suitable to enter the codes and lists but anyway. Please check your  (C:\Users\Okayra\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPad Updater Logs )  it is listed there.
I gave to the ipad2 to the store I bought it and they told me at first it is software issue and we can not get it back then after ..... anyway they gave me new one. At least this is good new.. Thanks for the customer support care system by APPLE.
I guess the problem with the GSM baseband hardware on 3G.  That's what I understood from the log.  Please correct me after you check on your system..

  • LR3.3RC - Unkown error occured

When switching from one photo to the next in the 'Develop' section, the 'hourglass' freezes (actually not an hourglass) and after about 10 seconds 'Unkown error occured' appears. However I can continue working as if nothing happened. This situation occurs only after a certain time of using Lightroom. But when it occurs, it keeps coming back whenever I move to the next photo. Closing the program and restarting it, gets rid of the error for a certain amount of time.
I did never observe this error with LR 3.2
I'm using XP, 32bit, SP3 - 4GB RAM and plenty of space on HDDs.

The problem you mention I already have since version 3.0
.I mentioned this in a reply on an other error in June (http://forums.adobe.com/thread/664364?tstart=120).
After the error occurs I always shut down LR and restart it.
I use Vista 32 bit with 4 Gb Ram.
