Imports - Mail 2.1 from Entourage 10.1.6

I can import all my email (from Entourage to Mail) that is not in a folder and the email folders but cannot import the email inside the folders. Does anyone know how to do this?

You will need to somehow create a local folder on Entourage for you to drag any stuff still residing on the server for it to be able to import. The other option is to check with Exchange using Mail, and forget about using Entourage for importing the server based mail. Anything on the server should be visible in both Entourage and Mail in the same way.

You can do so one of two ways.
With the Address Book application and Entourage launched with each partially visible on the Desktop, select a contact in the Entourage address book and at the menu bar, go to Edit > Select All.
Click and drag all selected/highlighted Entourage contacts to the Address Book "All" Group and then release.
If this doesn't work, create a folder on the Desktop. Click and drag all selected/highlighted Entourage contacts to the folder which will create a copy of each contact as a separate vCard file.
At the Address Book menu bar, go to File > Import and select vCards navigating to the folder on the Desktop which contains the exported Entourage contacts.

Importing process not achieved (from entourage to Mail)

I have a big database of 6 gb in entourage with a lot of folders ans subfolders.
When i tried to import it in Mail in snowleopard, everything looks ok but Mail didn't import me more than 5% of my database. It creates me all the folders and subfolders but the majority are empty (except 5%).
I tried several times and imposible to import all my emails from entourage.
Don't understand what's happening. Any idea?
I know I could drag my folders from entourage on the desktop and try to import the mbox but i have too many subfolders to do that...

There is a script that will export all folders including subfolders as MBOX files. This link is a direct download. Check your downloads folder for the file. Place the script in the Script Menu Items folder in the Microsoft User Data folder in Documents. Select the script from the Menu bar to run.
Export folders as MBOX files
If the script fails to complete, it means you have corrupted messages in the last folder that was exported.

Import the address book from entourage to .mail?

Does anyone know how to import the address book from entourage?
I have had major problems with entourage - and I have decided to use .mail.
I have managed to get the email accounts transfered, but I can't figure out how to get the address book.
This is about 15 years of acquiring address, so, it would be a major thing to manually do this, not to mention that I can't find an address book in .mail
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks - I moved the addresses, it wouldn't let me move the groups, but at least I have the major addresses.
One thing that would make .mail better is to be able to do a search on it for an old email that you now need. I hope that comes out with the new osx software.

10.6.7, hardware failure but the hard drive is intact. I can access the hard drive via Linux. Need to get mail from Mail.app and from Entourage 2004.

I need to know a couple of things, but y'all may not have all the answers I need.
First, I need to know how to retrieve the mail files from Mail.app and from Entourage 2004. I don't know if this is a valid asusmption, but in my experience with Windows, I know that Outlook keeps everything in a single monolithic .PST file. Is this the case with either Mail.app or with Entourage?
Second, I need to know how to access said mail files in a Linux mail app. The mail from Mail.app is more important than that from Entourage, so it has to take priority. Will I need some sort of converter program, or is there enough similarity between Mail.app and one of the Linux mail applications that I can simply import it? (BTW, I'm running Ubuntu Linux 11.04 on my Linux netbook. I wish there was some way I could get Snow Leopard on here.)
Any advice on any of this problem will be extremely helpful. Thanks.

I have it running on one of my single core netbooks.
WIth your other problem, just borrow a Mac temporariy, drag a enclosure to a Apple Store and use one of theirs, they don't mind as they have Deep Freeze installed on all their machines so changes don't stick upon rebooting.

Do you have all messages left on the server? Then you can simply set-up your Gmail account as IMAP account.

Can't import mail/address book from Outlook, old drive, old OS

Recently my wife's G4 died and we bought another. We transferred my wife's the old drive which was running OS9 (I know, she was just hard to convert)and added it to the new G4 as a secondary drive and also as a means of transferring the data. She ws using Outlook in OS 9 and it and the microsoft <user> files reside there (on her old drive). As a result, as good as Mail is in importing from other apps, it won't import from Outlook unless it's running.
To run it, I have to launch Classic but after doing so and starting Outlook, it will now not 'see' the email and address book files...even though at the finder level I can see the 300 megs worth of emails in the Microsoft documents folder....
Argghhhhh! This is business stuff and I'm desparate...can anyone think of a way to get at least the address book imported into Mail, even though I didn't think to output the entire list as a comma file before the old drive died?

This is a very common issue ... so much that a specialized solution exists. I had to deal with it when I converted from the evil PC world. Go to littlemachines.com, look at O2M. It worked very well for me ... but:
The caveat is: it runs on a PC ... intended for one-way-one-time migration out of the evil empire. So, if your Outlook data (.PST file) currently lives on a Mac, you would need to get it on a PC ... and I've never tried that, so I don't know if it works.

How do I import mail and contacts from eM Client?

I want to migrate from eM Client to Thunderbird. I cannot see in eM Client any export options to do so. What do I do? My email provider is Gmail.

Import mail and address from outlook express

I had a PC and used outlook express as mail software.
I have copy the outlook express database (files .dbx like address.dbx, inbox.dbx, ...) on my new mac and I want to import all my files and messages.
How could I do this.

I already tried it. I used File/Import a mailbox ..., then "Mail" offer me to choose the software I used, and I had the choice to run Mcrosoft Entourage, Outlook Express, ... and others.
Then I went to the place where I have stocked the .dbx files.
But mail seems not to be able to read it.
Do you know how to read .dbx librairies with Mail ?

Everytime I copied the mail folder and the .plist, Mail.app starts up with the updating/importing window, and after that mail wants me to type in my email address etc. in the startup wizard that pops up when you start mail for the first time. Tried it many times.
The tutorial mentioned above rcommends copying login.keychain, but I am already using the new ML imac and replacing the file login.keychain prompts the system to ask me for any password manually. I tried it anyway, but to no avail.
The problem is: I cannot access my old SL Mail, clean up, and choose edit/export.. because the hdd is corrupted and only accessible via target disk mode.
The ML migration assistant won't recognize the old SL imac that is connected via target disk mode.
Any help solving this issue would be greatly appreciated!

How can I get a AW or CW mail merge list to work in Pages?

Save the list from AppleWorks as a tab/comma delimited text file then open that in *Address Book* or Numbers.

After Importing from Entourage( Help Please!!!!!)

Hi All
I have imported all my data from Entourage to Mail. Everything works great and all good. But I don't understand why some of the email are shown in red ( subject and from). Only the subject and from are in red color, but the body of the mail is in black. I thought maybe because they are not in my address book. However some of other emails which is not in my address book also shown in black. only few of them are in red. I really want to know the reason as it really bothers me.

Switched from Entourage to Mail/iCal issue

I switched to Mail and iCal from Entourage some time ago but I noticed when I email an iCal invite, the icon in the body of the email is an Entourage icon and if I click on it, it opens Entourage.

if you go in mail,
click mail at the top, preferences, and click default email reader, make sure its mail
you could also make sure add invitations to ical is set to always.

You're lucky--I can't even open Mail! The icon bounces in the Dock and then quits unexpectedly. (Ditto with iCal). Had horrible Keychain problems after installing Leopard (as an upgrade--I wasn't even given an "archive & install" option. My username and password were being rejected, and I couldn't even install the recommended Software Updates. Tech support guy (for whom I waited 30 min. and then spent an hour with) made things worse--the Unix code he had me type ended up invalidating my account. He then handed me off to a supervisor--for whom I had to wait another 45 min. After another hour, during which the supervisor had me create a new account and attempt to copy and paste the items (42,000) from my old User folder to the new one, he told me that when I was done (it took 2 more hrs) I should log out and log back in. I did and nothing happened--all my previous files and folders were still gone. But I could start Mail, although all it brought up was my mac.com account. So rather than reinitialize and reinstall Leopard, I restored my important files, folders and programs from the external drive to which I'd backed up my previous hard drive (OS 10.4.10)--including Mail and iCal. (I wanted to set up my RCN and Earthlink accounts too). But now I can't even access Mail AT ALL! What happened, and how can I just get a working version of Mail so that I can set it up from scratch? (I am now accessing my mail from an old iBook G4--and I don't want to travel with two computers).
