Impossible complete downloading while traveling abroad

I did rent a movie before to start a travel abroad (my store is the US store). I then had troubles with connection and download was incomplete. Now the download just doesn't want to resume. I'm using an iPad and no meaningful message appears, just a generic error with any code.
Frustrating

OK last evenings efforts were futile!
Thanks for the replies but as I said there is no apple store with in Ireland with a guru bar (whole country!) therefore not an option! Using my boot disk I can get into recovery and it will allow me to download M/L (again for 30-40mins) then it will not install it properly! I have tried some other options today including deleting the app store cache with the reg command: open $TMPDIR../C/ - didn't help my "This Copy of the Install OS X Mountain Lion Application can’t be verified". I just can not understand why it will not just let me reinstall software I have paid for on a computer I have bought...especially as it allowed me to creat a boot disk with that same software (which I am now using to type this!).
ANy further help would be hugely appreciated.
Thanks

Ask your carrier. It will depend on whether you have a plan that allows international roaming and whether that includes data.
You can use WiFi anywhere in the world where there is an available WiFi network you're authorized to connect to.

Settings/General/Network - Data Roaming (off/on). If you plan to turn it on be sure to subscribe to a data roaming package or you could be hit with a bill for thousands of (your currency). And you also need to have your carrier provision your account for internatonal usage.

  • How to properly update iTunes content while traveling abroad?

Spent some time searching and found a number of threads covering T&Cs and whys and wherefores of US Citizens on extended overseas travel trying to update or purchase iTunes content. There's a lot of 'why not' but not much 'how to'.
I'm seeking the Apple-approved solution for those of us with US based iTunes accounts who are traveling or deployed overseas or take extended temporary jobs abroad. How can we legally, properly, update our podcast subscriptions, apps for iPhones, or purchase content?
Do we have to simply change the country setting at the bottom of the iTunes Store window, so we are interacting with whatever the local Store is and the content will live happily in iTunes no matter which Store it was purchased from?
Do we have to set up a new account with local credit card in every land we are assigned?
There has to be a way, it seems illogical that you can't update podcasts or apps while traveling. There's got to be an Apple-approved method for this!
If anyone knows the answer or a link to the answer or something near to it, please provide the info. The T&C are clear enough in regards to "purchases" and using the US store only from in the US, but doesn't answer the 'how-to' for customers traveling abroad who are not spending any money by getting new podcast episodes or free app updates.
So again, no need to rehash the T&C, just seeking the 'proper' way to update things if away for a while. I'll be stupefied if I hear that the official Apple answer is the iPhone content is frozen in place until I get back in US territory.
    Thanks.

    Thanks for the reply, Chris.
After posting the message, I changed my iTunes Store to India (where there may be work opportunities) and there were only Apps and iTunes U content tabs, and the T&C were similar-can only shop at the store where you are connecting from. So unless the store looks different when logging in while physically in India, there wouldn't be a way to update podcasts.
I am concerned about an important distinction, though, which is 'what will work' vs. 'what is T&C compliant'...

  • Can I update iOS7 while traveling abroad?

I have a Verizon iPhone 5, but no service. Will it activate?
I recall travelling abroad last year, and when I accepted an iOS 6.x update, it wouldn't activate. Not sure because I was traveling abroad, or if it needs a SIM to update.

Actually I took the plunge and tried updating anyway. I was able to update and activate successfully while in Bangkok, Thailand.
Only downside is that I was using a 3rd party lighting cable, which worked fine with iOS6, but not in iOS7. So now I have to find an OEM cable... =\

  • Problem with 'No service' while traveling abroad

I am traveling abroad (Uganda) and cannot get service. I have traveled with my phone to Uganda previously (iPhone 5), and was able to send/receive text messages at that time. Prior to this trip, I called Verizon to ensure I had everything I needed in place for voice roaming. They told me that my phone was already enabled for global services. I did decline the global services package, but was told very clearly that I would be able to send/receive text messages and make/receive phone calls regardless of whether I purchased the package or not.
Since traveling through international airports and arriving in Uganda, my phone continues to say "no service" and cannot connect to any local signals. My husband is traveling with me, and his phone has no trouble picking up signals and he has sent/received several text messages. I have tried restarting my phone, taking it in/out of airplane mode, turning roaming on/off, etc. I do not understand what the problem is. I haven't had success trying to online chat. Will it cost me airtime to make a phone call to Verizon from my husband's phone? I don't want to incur large charges waiting on hold for 30 minutes.
I really need the ability to receive text messages while I am gone, in case of emergencies, and I am very frustrated. I ensured everything was in place prior to leaving, and my phone has worked overseas without issue previously. What is the problem, and how do I fix it??!!

Have you tried Resetting Network Settings yet? If not, I would...
    Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    Hope it helps!

  • Need advice for getting data service while traveling abroad

I will be traveling in Norway and England and want to be able to use GPS on my Galaxy S4.  I can get along without voice service, and can rely on wi-fi for email and internet access.  I will be traveling for about 3 weeks.  Any suggestions?

All the advise you need is right here Spokaneman! We want you to enjoy your trip to Norway and England. Yes, you can use your phone for data while traveling. Here is a link to our Global trip planner to get all the information about cost and what is needed to use your phone http://vz.to/1aGvDAs . You can add our bundle plan for 100mb for $25.00 per month or voice/data bundle for 100minutes/100sent messages and 100mb for $40.00 per month . You can also pay as you go with is $0.02 cent per KB and $20.48 per mb. Voice calls and text are extra if you're interested in those features.

  • While downloading many videos at the same time, the download window shows that the video has completed downloading while it has actually downloaded only a little of each. How can i correct it??

The download bar will be full while the video has still not downloaded fully. Downloading will be stopped and whatever content downloaded can be viewed.

Uninstalled everything PA, also uninstalled mangler which was the only thing that depended on PA. It didn't work anyway.
No pulseaudio --kill command so I couldn't run.
Checked systemd journal and there is no mention of PA this time.
Checked top, and grepped ps aux and there is no PA there either.
I also rebooted the machine completely just to make sure. However VLC and HTML5 have the same incompatibilities.

  • I turned off cellular data, and data roaming while traveling abroad.  I turned them back on upon arriving back home, but now only the wi-fi features works when trying to connect to the internet.   Texting works, no internet function works unless wi-fi???

I turned off my cellula data and data roaming while abroad.  I turned them back on when returning home.  But now I can only access internet and mail functions when on wi-fi.  texting works.  The 3G access to the internet isn't working now.  3g is on.  What do I need to do to restore non-wi-fi internet function.  Roaming is on s well.  ?????

    Try to reset your iPhone:
    Settings>>General>>Reset>>Reset All Settings
You will need to rejoin all wi-fi and/or bluetooth connections
You will need to set up your settings of your choice.
Information (such as contacts and Calendars) and meida (such as music, videos, apps) are NOT affected.

  • New User agrement - purchasing from US store while traveling abroad

While attempting to purchase content today (a bunch of it actually), I was presented with, and had to accept a new user agreement that apparently prohibits me from buying from the US Itunes store while abroad. I am a US resident, with a US account, paid with a US credit card currently on a long term assignment in the UK. Do I now have to purchase all my content from the US store while I am actually in the US? If so, this will really tick me off!
    Looking for feedback and clarification.

  • Email issue while traveling abroad

The device works fine in the state with receiving Gmail & Exchange emails. When abroad, i receive Gmail and can browse the web, but Exchange emails work only on WiFi. In non-WiFi mode, the phone is trying to sync which drains the battery. All the roaming feature are turned on. Any help is much appreciated.

Turn off sync for the Exchange account? Or restrict background data to wifi only?

  • Using the skype app while traveling abroad

If I travel to the United Kingdom and France, will I still be able to use the Skype app on my Kindle Fire for free?  Thanks in advance for the help.
    Solved!

That is awesome! I am going to be traveling to Europe in the next few weeks and was wondering abou this. I also bought the Skype phone so that my mom can call me from her landline phone. I am wondering about the pay subscription. It asked me what my region was. My question is: Would I be able to call from my Kindle Fire to my mom's landline phone with this subscription? Am I set up to use it both ways?? thank you so much!!

  • Skype while travelling abroad

Probably a simple question but nonetheless... I'm in Canada, thinking of getting a skype premium subscription... if I am travelling in the States, can I still use it to call to Canada (via iPhone)?  Does it matter where in the world I am if I have that subscription?  Also, what is quality like?  Is it based on the internet provider/wifi?
    Thanks!

If you select Canada as the country for telephone calling, you can use your Skype account with Skype Premium to call back to Canada.  This would work from anywhere you are in the world where you can log into Skype, as Skype's subscriptions and per-minute rates when using Skype Credit are only concerned with the destination of your calls.  Your location is irrelevant.  Call quality is, in large part, dependent on your Internet connection.
    Good luck!

  • Sending iMessages over WiFi while traveling abroad?

I'm currently out of the country and don't have an international data plan. I want to text my boyfriend using iMessage (I have a WiFi connection in the hotel and he also has an iPhone). I know it's free for me to send iMessage texts over WiFi even though I'm in a foreign country, but would he be charged to iMessage me back if he's sending his messages using 3G/data? I don't want to run up his phone bill. Thanks for any help!
