Not a lot of documentation on that one, I'm afraid, but there's some general principles troubleshooting we can try with it that might get us moving forwards.
    (1) Do you currently have a copy of the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package installed on that PC? If so, try downloading the following security update:
[Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package ATL Security Update|http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=766a6af7-ec73-4 0ff-b072-9112bab119c2&displaylang=en#filelist]
Does iTunes install for you after applying that update?
    (2) If no joy there, head into your Windows Update and click on the Update History. Have a lot of Updates also been failing for you recently? If so, doubleclick on the entries for the failed updates to bring up more information on each. What error codes appear for you for the failed updates? (Precise spelling, please.)

  • How do I install iTunes version 10.0?

I don't like the latest version of iTunes.  How do I install iTunes version 10.0?

The main differences between iTunes 11 and earlier versions are the loss of coverflow and ability to have multiple windows open.
In Windows, you can restore much of the look & feel of iTunes 10.7 with these shortcuts:
ALT to temporarily display the menu bar
CTRL+B to show or hide the menu bar
CTRL+S to show or hide the sidebar
CTRL+/ to show or hide the status bar (won't hide for me on Win XP)
Click the magnifying glass top right and untick Search Entire Library to restore the old search behaviour
Use View > Hide <Media Kind> in the cloud or Edit > Preferences > Store and untick Show iTunes in the cloud purchases to hide the cloud items. The second method eliminates the cloud status column (and may let iTunes start up more quickly)
If you don't like having different coloured background & text in the Album (Grid) view use Edit > Preferences > General and untick Use custom colours for open albums, movies, etc.
With iTunes 11.0.3 and later you can enable artwork in the Songs view from View > Show View Options (CTRL+J) making it more like the old Album List view
View > Show View Options (CTRL+J) also contains options to change the sorting of grid based views
N.b. iOS 7 requires iTunes 11.1 or later. Do not downgrade iTunes if you have already upgraded your iOS devices...
If you feel the need to roll back to iTunes 10.7 first download a copy of the 32 bit installer or 64 bit installer as appropriate, uninstall iTunes and supporting software, i.e. Apple Application Support & Apple Mobile Device Support. Reboot. Restore the pre-upgrade version of your library database as per the diagram below, then install iTunes 10.7.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to scan the media folder and catch up with any changes made since the backup file was created.

  • Attempting to install iTunes Version 10.5 and getting Invalid Signature. Can someone please help???

I am attempting to install iTunes Version 10.5. I am getting the following messages...
"Files shared by these updates" has an invalid signature. It will not be installed.
"iTunes" has an invalid signature. It will not be installed.
"Safari 5" has an invalid signature. It will not be installed.
I somehow got around this annoying "invalid signature" problem before by installing the iTunes update through the Apple site.
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
When I tried that, now I get...
"The installer encountered errors before iTunes could be configured. Errors occurred during installation. Your system has not been modified. Please run the installer again, or click Finish to Exit"
All this to get the latest iPhone software. And every blessed time I go to Sync my iPhone, I run into iTunes issue on my Dell PC here. I guess PC and Mac just cannot play well together.
Can someone PLEASE help me out here???
Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi. I also had this problem when trying to connect a new iPhone 4S & it needed iTunes 10.5. Went to the Apple website as update section of iTunes was not getting any luck - went to downloads section of Apple website & downloaded the whole iTunes 10.5 program as though I did not have it in the first place (& also downloaded the programs for Quicktime 7.7.1 & Safari 4.0.3) ie not just the upgrades. I created a restore point in my Windows XP in case it all went pear shaped & then went ahead & installed all 3 programs. Opened iTunes at the end & all my music, apps, movies were all still there & now the new iPhone 4S works perfectly with the iTunes. Hope this helps.

  • HT1222 Anybody else having problems installing itunes version 11 on a MacBook Pro?

Anybody else having problems installing itunes version 11 on a MacBook Pro? Is so, how can they be resolved?

You need to tell us exactly what messages you are seeing.
You posted this in the OSX 10.4 forum but your computer profile says you are running OSX 10.6.8  Which system version you are running makes a big difference.

  • HT1926 Tried installing itunes for 64 bit Windowns on my PC but soon after download starts the box disappears and nothing happens. Any ideas?

Tried installing itunes for 64 bit Windowns on my PC several times but each time soon after download starts the box disappears and nothing happens. Any ideas?

11.Once the updates are done, make sure you are booted into Windows and call Microsoft support and explain the issue (doing a clean installation with an upgrade disk.) The issue is very common and not specific to Mac users so they will pass you to Tech support and help you activate your copy of Windows.
Not always. I tried. Easier to reinstall Windows 7 over itself, activated fine. Or just do the legal thing and buy full copy. Mac Pro owners that want dual processor support need Pro or Ultimate (Enterprise also) rather than Home Premium.
I would NOT use Boot Camp 3.1, it causes problems for number of Mac Pro owners, though maybe not all so unclear what/why) but just stay with Boot Camp 3.0x from the Snow Leopard DVD (which can have trouble with AppleHFS)

  • New iPad, can't install iTunes on Windows 7 in order to activate it (?!)

64 bit Windows, HP laptop.  I have tried this several times and have done System Restore to before the first failed iTunes installation.  No joy.
Alternate question;  is there a way to use my new iPad without bothering with iTunes?
    Thanks in advance,
    Mike

Before iOS 5, you need iTunes to activate your iPad.  Did you install the right iTunes?  There are 32 and 64 bit versions.
I would try completely removing all the Apple software and then reinstall using the following:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7

  • How to install iTunes 12 64-bit version?

I have a laptop on Windows 8.1. Previously I had iTunes 10 32-bit version for awhile. It was reliable most of the times (sometimes the program freezes when playing/pausing songs etc.) but decided to upgrade to iTunes 12 64-bit version so that it would hopefully resolve that issue. I have downloaded from the official Apple website which states it's the 64-bit version but when I install it onto my PC, it is just the 32-bit version. How can I change it to 64-bit or is there an option to select it to 64-bit during installation?
    Thanks for reading.

You can't arbitrarily select which version to install - you must use the installer that's compatible with the release/edition of Windows that you are using.  You may be seeing the consequences of the fact that the 64-bit version of iTunes is not *completely* 64 bit - the main application is still 32 bit and will therefore, on a 64 bit system, be installed in the Program Files (x86) folder.  Other components are, however, required for correct operation with a 64-bit version of Windows.  If you download iTunes from the primary source (http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/) scripts on Apple's webpage will detect the architecture of your PC and only offer the correct version for it ... though there is some anecdotal evidence that those scripts may fail for some users, and you may need to go directly to the relevant downloads:
    iTunes 12.0.1.26 for Windows (32-bit) - iTunesSetup.exe
    iTunes 12.0.1.26 for Windows (64-bit) - iTunes64Setup.exe
See turingtest2's notes on Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates for more details if you're still having problems with installation.

  • Why can't I install iTunes version 10.5 or higher? I've tried everything suggested on this forum, my friend has a mac and she can't either and it seems like the main problem is the apple Mobile device.exe wont install and applesync

    Hey anybody,
Neither myself (running on PC windows vista 32 bit) or my friend (on a mac) are able to install versions of iTunes around 10.5 or higher successfully. This leads me to believe the problem isn't necessarily with our computers and there may be something wrong elsewhere. I'm not a computer wiz but I have tried most of the advice on these forums e.g. Uninstalling and reinstalling, deleting temporary files, expanding files and trying individual downloads and more. I can install older versions of iTunes where they use to combine it with QuickTime with no problems however this is no good to me or my friend because only versions 10.5 and up come with support with iPhone 4S and that's what we need. I managed after several attempts to install iTunes 10.52 but without the apple mobile device so therefor the iTunes wouldn't connect to my phone or recognise it, apple sync notifier also has problems and fails to start.
Please can someone help me with this, I have tried everything on the apple troubleshooting pages so please don't link me those. Or please can iTunes and apple do something in an update that corrects this problem because I know many people are having similar issues. I only bought this phone for the music and at the moment I feel cheated because I wouldn't have these problems with any other phone because I'd just be able to drag and drop.

    Hi there,
I had the same experience. I'm using a Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop, with Windows 7 Home Edition, 32 bit.
I tried to install iTunes 10.5 and it started installing, then, just before the end of the process, came up with the following error message:
"There is a problem with this Windows Installer Package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor."
Of course, no information on what the program that couldn't be run was! At first I tried the usual stuff, like scanning for viruses etc. but nothing doing. Then I started Googling. In the end, I uninstalled all Apple stuff from my computer. A lot of it I had to do manually, going in to the program files drive and deleting stuff from there, but some of it wouldn't delete as it was saying it was open in Windows Explorer. In the end, I managed to delete the iTunes folders by selecting one of my mp3 tracks saved on the computer and right clicking 'open with'. I then browsed my pc to locate the iTunes folders still outstanding and was able to right click and delete them that way.
Then emptied the recycle bin and did a restart before going online and downloading iTunes 10.5.
Thankfully it worked, but its taken me a good few hours and made me really quite tetchy! I've never had this problem before, so I hope this is going to be a one off.
One thing that doesn't seem to be working is that, despite how many times I tell it that my preference is for the iTunes Media folder to be located on my external hard drive, it keeps putting it back to the C drive! Didn't have that issue with the last version. Grrrrrr. Arrrrgggh.
Hope you manage to get yours sorted - this is affecting a lot of people by the look of things.

  • Problems installing iTunes on 64-bit Windows PC

I cannot install iTunes on a new PC running Windows 7 (64-bit).  I get an error message that says "The folder path 'iTunes Music' contains an invalid character."  I cannot locate a folder named "iTunes Music" on my PC.  If I use the control panel, I see a program iTunes, but it will neither run, repair, nor install.  I get the same error message when attempting all of those.
    Any suggestions?

    Thanks for your help.
I have run both utilities, but still cannot install.  It does not appear as if all components were completely removed, as directories with content still for iTunes, Bonjour, Apple Software Updater, and Apple Application Support under Program Files, Program Files (x86), and Program Data.  (I don't have any other Apple software installed on this machine.)
When I run the install software, the error message has changed.  I now get a message "Could not open key:  UNKNOWN\Components\DA42BC89BF25F5BD0AF18C3B9B1A1EE8\C8FDA2211ADDC08499638CF8825 22B56.  Verify that you have sufficient access to that key or contact your support personnel."
I am running the install as administrator, so should have sufficient privileges.  I tried your user tip https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3581 to see if it resolved the issue, but am still getting the same key access error messages.

  • Attempting to Restore my iPad 2 on Latest iTunes Version but Getting 3194 Error

I am trying to restore my iPad 2 on the latest iTunes version, but I am consistently getting the 3194 error. What is going on?
When I plugged my iPad 2 into my computer, I saw a popup stating that the iPad is in DFU mode, which is weird, since I never did anything to it. It was working fine with iOS 5, but now that I'm trying to restore it, it will not allow me to.

  • What OS do I need to install iTunes version 11?

After downloading the iOS 7 update on my iPhone, my contacts were deleted.  Which has been happening about monthly.
When I tried to sync the phone, iTunes does not recognize the device and advised to download version 11 (I currently have 10).
When attempting to install iTunes 11, the computer says the operating system is not supported.
My OS is 10.5.8.  What do I need to do to get my operating system compatible?  I assume I will need to purchase something but don't know what is a prerequisite to what.
    Any easy answers?
