From your screenshot in post 4, your issue appears to be that the program is not recognizing your burner in the burner location field. To be safe, click on the tiny triangle to the right of the burner location field to make sure there are no hidden list of burners there.
For your consideration along with other contributions to this thread
1. Program uninstall/free ccleaner run through with regular and registry cleaner parts/reinstall with antivirus and
firewall(s) disabled.
For Windows CCleaner - PC Optimization and Cleaning - Free Download
2. If you have only a DVD burner, and not a Blu-ray DVD burner, then
CD, DVD drive not recognized after Adobe application install | Windows
3. As for burn to ISO Image (for .iso file) or Folder (for VIDEO_TS Folder), see ImgBurn for either but be careful with the download and install because of unwanted programs that come along with the download. Details for how to available on request.
4. If you go with the burn to disc, there is another problem that you may be facing, that is, the program giving you a Media Not Present message in Status after the program finally recognizes your burn. Disk replacement is not always the answer to that one.

Is the Memorex incompatible with my i-Mac or what could it be ?
    My i-Mac is a 21", Core 2 Duo with 3.06 GHz. RAM is 8Go 1067MHz DDR3.
    Thanks.

That message is usually caused by poor media. i.e. poor coating quality.
Mermorex is generally regarded by most users here as poor quality media. So is TDK. Most of us prefer Verbatim, Fuji, Maxell or Taiyu Yuden DVD-R.
Also burn at only 2x or 4x burn speed.

  • MEDIUM ERROR Burning a DVD-R

Hi, I'm trying to burn a DVD for several times with Roxio Toast Titanium 6.
I used to do it like this always but now it seems impossible.
I'm trying to record a DATA DVD and this is the error I get:
    The drive reported and error:
    Sense Key = MEDIUM ERROR
    Sense Code = 0x73, 0x03
    My DVD´s are DVD-R 4.7gb.
    The recorder is a Matshita DVD-R UJ-816.
Can you help me find the problem for this?

    First welcome to the discussions.
With your drive and optical burner it will only qaccept DVD-R Media. There is such a wide range of problems with cheaper Media I suggest you find Maxell 8X DVD-R media it comes in a pack of 3 Read the back panel on it and if it says it burns at 1X 2X 4X 8X then you have the right one.
I have had 100% burn rate with this media in my Computer with the same drive. There seems to be a big difference in the different types and manufactures of media.

  • VLC burn to DVD

I downloaded an VLC movie ,
I would like to transform VLC to Quicktime so I can burn it to a DVD,
What is the best way to burn the VLC movie to a DVD.

    WinRAR Compressed Archive
Okay, let's start all over again from scratch.
What kind of a disc are you trying to burn? A data disc? (I.e., one designed to simply the file(s) for playback on a computer using a general media player (e.g., VLC) or an "authored" disc designed to be played on a commercial DVD/BD player?
If the former and you plan to play the file(s) by transferring the data back to a computer for playback, then you can burn the file almost any way you want as long as the data will fit on the disc and the movie is in a compression format compatible with you media player. If the former but you want the file(s) to playback on the computer from the disc, then the data rate excursions should be kept within a narrow range and within the playback read/transfer rates of the optical drive in use. (I.e., you are striving for a constant and even transfer of data that will not overrun playback by the media player. Lastly, if the content is to be "authored" for playback on a commercial DVD/BD player, the it is up to the the authoring application to create the appropriate files in the correct compression formats. In this case, the source file(s) must be in a compression format that is compatible with the authoring application.
In short, I don't know what kind of data you are starting with here. To me, a "VLC" file is any file that will play in the VLC player. This could be an AVCHD file, a DVD image file, or an H.264/AC3 movie wrapped in an MKV file container, etc. Basically, since we do not know what kind of data you are starting with and we don't know what kind of file you wish to create/burn as a DVD, it is impossible to make any suggestions or provide a definite work flow solution at this time.
    GENERALLY SPEAKING...
If you are simply archiving the file(s) (i.e., making a data disc), you could use a "Burn" folder or the Disk Utilities app to do your burning. Both work flows are part of any recent Mac OS so no third-party software is required. This same approach can be used to burn a DVD image file if you are starting with and image of an already created DVD disc created for playback on a commercial DVD player. Lastly, if you are starting with any other form of data, you will have to use a DVD authoring application (like iDVD) to transcode the source files to DVD compatible compression formats, create the menus, mux the data, and image/burn the data as needed.

  • Best export options in QuickTime Pro to burn a dvd with?

I'm trying without luck to establish a workflow where i edit original content (combine image and sound, add credits) in QuickTime Pro then i need to burn the resulting movie to a dvd. This seems near to impossible.
I have finally figured out i need third party software to do more converting before it can be burned (i worry that every conversion robs a bit more quality - i had to do conversions initially to get my content from dvd given to me by the videographer or from my VHS-to-DVD converter into QT Pro, what a pain!). So i've got something called DVDFlick to convert into ISO image containing VOB structure, then use ImgBurn to actually burn the ISO image to cd, to get a playable dvd.
What i can't figure out is what is the proper format to export out of QT Pro? I tried DV/DVPRO and AVI both, but those resulted ultimately in audio skips on my commercial dvd players, as well as a movie that won't play the audio in Windows Media Player, but will in other DVD software players.
I was under the impression i needed to export as MPEG-2, but i can't find that anywhere in QT Pro export options. I notice there is an MPEG-2 add-on for Windows from Apple Store, but it only talks about playback from dvd, not going in the opposite direction like i am, where i want to save as MPEG-2 from Quicktime Pro. Please help make sense of all this
    -steve

Sorry, but you cannot export from QuickTime as MPEG-2. As you discovered, the MPEG-2 Playback Component is, as the name implies, for playback only. You'll need to work with the developer of your DVD creation software to determine why you're getting audio skips. Normally a DV export works well, but as they say, your mileage may vary. Any export will depend on the quality of the source media. You may need to look into different software for creating and burning your DVDs if DVDFlick continues to give you problems.

  • Sound problems with film made in iMovie when burned to DVD in iDVD

    PLEASE HELP!!!
I have upgraded to iLife 09 and for all the bad that people have to say, I actually like it a lot. Anyway, it gave me the encouragement I needed to play with some old home movies I had stored with the aim of producing DVDs to give to my friends, and hopefully showing off the slick production values I have come up with.
So after spending a week getting to grips with iMovie and editing an old holiday film with all the cuts, transitions, chapter markers and music etc that I wanted, I ended up with an hour long movie that I was happy with.
Then to iDVD. After trying out all sorts of ways to go from iMovie to iDVD to ensure the best quality, I have finally given up trying to replicate the on screen quality of the movie in iMovie with the finished DVD, and just opted for the easy to use 'share to iDVD' option. The quality is not great, but then the footage is old anyway so not too much of an issue.
Then I spend another few days playing with and learning iDVD and again end up with a finished product that I am happy with, with nice looking menu's and a slideshow etc.
So I come to burn the final DVD, for which I pick the 'Professional burn' option which takes 4 hours but I am happy to wait if it means the best quality possible, and my DVD is done.
I then play the DVD to discover my problem - the sound in the movie is not right. To explain further, in my movie I have reduced the sound of some of the film clips to nothing and placed music over the top. When played and previewed in iMovie it works fine - the music plays and the sound that is attached the the video does not. When previewed in iDVD it works fine - just as I had edited it in iMovie. But then when I burn the DVD, some of these sounds are present again which completely wastes all my hard work at the editing stage.
I have searched and searched for help on this but am unable to find any.
Sorry for the very long description and story behind my issue, but it is massively frustrating. Basically, at some point during the 'burn to DVD' stage in iDVD it decides to completely ignore most of the sound edits I have made on the movie in iMovie.
If anyone can help it would be much appreciated.
    Many thanks in advance.

Many thanks. Looking at that thread it looks like there are a few others having the same issue as me. Might be to do with not using the predetermined rates for clip slowdown and inputting my own.
The frustrating thing is that I have only done this once right at the start of my hour long movie and if I change it now it with though the timing of my whole film out.
Not much else I can do though I suppose.

  • Shaky Video when Burned to DVD

    Hello all,
Call me an amatuer when it comes to camcorders. I have a Sony DCR-SR40 HDD camcorder and when I take video recorded on this device, transfer to my Mac, and then edit in HD 6, the video (when played back on a DVD) comes out shaky for action video where people are moving. It is almost like there are tracers when they are moving.
When the raw footage is played back in its native mpg format it looks fine, and when it is burned using Sony's "One Touch" DVD burn the video is not shaky or look like it has tracers, it looks fine. I am thinking it has to do with the quality of the image being recorded by the video camera and that when it gets compiled/burned to DVD it causes the shakiness. It has done this in iMovie HD 6 and in Adobe Elements 3.0. Is there a fix for this?
If it is just a camcorder issue, any recommendations for a good quality camcorder to capture sports footage (Football) that would burn great in iMovie and not have that shakiness/tracers?

    >MPEG2 exported from Premeire, to quicktime, to encore
That is, to me, a backwards work flow
Mpeg2 is an output format... but you are using it as your source file in Premiere... what is the source of the file?
Read Bill Hunt on a file type as WRAPPER http://forums.adobe.com/thread/440037
    What is a CODEC... a Primer http://forums.adobe.com/thread/546811
What CODEC is INSIDE that file? http://forums.adobe.com/thread/440037
Report back with the codec details of your file, use the programs below... a screen shot works well to SHOW people what you are doing
    For PC http://www.headbands.com/gspot/ or http://mediainfo.sourceforge.net/en
    For Mac http://mediainfo.massanti.com/
You are then exporting to Quicktime... which Encore must then encode to MPEG2 to make a DVD (the VOB on a DVD is a renamed MPEG)
You are starting with a compressed file... exporting which may add more compression... and compressing again in Encore... it is no wonder your DVD has lost quality

  • Need HELP to burn 35 DVDs very URGENT !!!

I have created a 16/9 screen DVD, size 451 Mo.
    Problem 1:
When I register it as Disk image, I cannot open it on my HD to preview before burn it. When I click on the icon, it says "specify application", so I put iDVD, but it doesn't open. So I burn my project directly from iDVD. It takes time. I need to burn 35!!! Is there is possibility to fixe it, or I have to encoder every time I have to burn the same DVD?
    Problem 2:
When I burn my project to DVD-R x16 Verbatim, using "Optimal quality" or "Optimal performances", my quality image is suffering. Pixels are becoming too big (like 1mmx1mm mosaique), so it is difficult to read text and to see pictures. My original project is perfect. I thought I was DVD quality, because I was using DVD+R x16 verbatim. But it seems to be iDVD problem.
Thank to all who know anything about and can help. I have to deliver the project by the end of this week.

    Problem 1 Follow these directions:
Suggest you create a disc image and then burn the DVD. File/Save As Disc Image...
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=164927
This will isolate any encoding/burning issues you may encounter. Once the disc image is created, double-click the .img and burn the virtual disc that should appear on your desktop, using Toast to burn the DVD. Disk Utility to burn the .img file. Usually, you can select a burning speed in Disk Utility.
There are variations to this process based on which OS X you are using...
Open Disk Utility (in Utilities folder in Applications folder), click on the virtual disc (maybe the .img) in the left-hand window. Click the Burn icon. A new window should drop down and your SuperDrive tray will open after clicking the Burn icon. Insert a recordable DVD. (Verbatim DVD-R preferred by me.) Click the Close button. Wait. Select a burn speed. Then click the Burn button.
-->If the virtual disk selection won't allow you to click the Burn icon, use the .img file instead. This may have changed in 10.3.9 and did change in Tiger.
Also, you can use DVD Player to play the virtual disk to check your iDVD project before burning to DVD. Launch DVD Player. File/Open VIDEO_TS (Open DVD Media... in Player 4.6). Find the VIDEO_TS folder and open that. (The audio folder is for DVD-Audio disks.)

Problem 2 Burn the disk image with Disk Utility and select a speed 4X or slower from the speed pop-up.

  • Error Message while trying to burn a DVD-R with my MacBook Pro: "The disc can't be burned, because the device failed to calibrate the laser power level for this media.

While using my Mac OS X Version 10.6.8 to burn a DVD-R I keep getting the error message: "This disc can't be burned, because the device failed to calibrate the laser power level for this media."
So, I tried the iDVD and got the same error message.
Can anyone out there help me? I've tried both a DVD - R, and a CD.
I made a short 2:20 minute presentation from iMovie and used the "share" to iDVD, then to iTunes, then I tried exporting it to Quicktime and saved it on my desk top. That is when I tried burning by opening the blank DVD-R in the finder then draging the movie on to it and selecting the burn option. Thank you for your time in helping me with this frustrating problem.
    Peace, Pyxidis

I have had that same problem, but it was unrelated to any upgrade.
In my case the optical drive was simply failing, and I replaced it - it was a Powerbook, about eight years old.
It is possible that it's unrelated to Lion, as unlikely as this may seem, since you've just upgraded.
Optical drives seem to be the most life-limited component in these computers. The laser just seems to get weak with age.

  • Is it possible to burn a DVD from FCPX in 16:9 aspect ratio?

I am using FCP X 10.1.1 on an iMac with OS 10.9.3
I have HD video shot in 1080X720.  I realize a dvd isn't HD, but I would like to try and get the wide screen aspect.  Is that even possible?  I would love any sort of assistance!  Thanks much!
    -R

    Yes.
Just go ahead and burn the DVD which will finish up with whatever aspect the project is.
A 16:9 aspect ratio has nothing to do with hi-def,  it's just that hi-def in the last 10 years has adopted that ratio but it was used long before then, together with 4:3, for standard def DV.

  • I have created a movie in 16:9 format. I have created an iDVD pane in 16:9 but when I preview the movie that pane changes to 4:3 and burns the DVD as a 4:3 movie. How can I stop that, please I am in Snow Leopard, using FCE4.0.1?

I am using Snow Leopard and have created a movie in 16:9 format (SD not HDV) I created a movie which stays in the 16:9 format in fcp file, .mov fiule and MP4 file. Hi
As I see this I see two parts
    • Howto go from FinalCut to iDVD
    • Howto set iDVD right
In FinalCut Express (to 4) or Pro (to 6 - most probably 7 too)
    • One has to set Anamorphic in the Browser window - menu columns
    • Export as QuickTime movie .mov - NO QUICKTIME CONVERSION
In iDVD there are TWO places to set - WideScreen
    - Start a NEW iDVD project - AND HERE SELECT WideScreen 16:9
    - in Project - select Projectinfo
    - now set WideScreen 16:9 - Here too
This use to work for me.
    FOR FinalCut Pro-X - I have not a Clue - as I don't use it. SORRY
BTW - There is a good practice to before BURNING the DVD do
    • Save as a DiskImage
    • Test this by using DVD-Player tool
And if it is OK Size and All - then burn it by using
    • Disk Util tool
    • here set down burn speed to x4 or less (less burn errors = plays on more devices and better)
    • Not using Memorex or NoName etc cheap media - as they usually DO NOT WORK as Video-DVDs
    • I use Verbatim DVD-R as they play on more and even older DVD-players

I did not have a DVD handy to burn but I have just created a small 2 minute video and created a Disk Image and also a VIDEO_TS folder, the encoding worked correctly, so it works with some items.
