Impossible to download the iphone update
I cannot download the latest update version of my iPhone. I tried five times and always the download stops at about 1/3 - 1/4 of the process, as though the internet conection was lost (what was not). Message ''error 3259'' appears. Is it possible to bypass iTunes ands get the update directly on the phone using a wi-fi connection? I had no problems when I updated my iPad.

Is anyone else having trouble downloading the iPhone Update 4.2.8?
I got my new iPhone4 on 6/28. I have it attached to my iTune account and during the synch the software is attempting to update (4.2.6 to 4.2.8). I accept the T&C and the download starts and takes between 6 and 8 minutes. Just before it completes I get the following error message "There was a problem downloading the software. The network connection timed out - try again later (652.7MB of 652.8MB stopped (err_ -3259). This has happened several times to me now. How can I get this fixed?
The first thing to try is to temporarily disable any antivirus or antispyware you have on your computer. Those utiltiies can block successful download.

Proxy security settings don't allow to download the iPhone updates
My PC where I set up my iPhone is located at my office and the proxy security settings prevent my PC (any PC) to connect to the Apple servers for downloading any updates.
One solution could be if I can get the addrees where I can go from my personal laptop and accesing internet from a totally different network.
Another solution is moving my iPhone to my personal computer and then use my personal DSL internet connection.
I will appreciate your help.Go to Start>Control Panel>Internet Options>Privacy (tab) There should be a bar & it might work if you make it lower. You could go to the advanced tab too & uncheck some of the security blocking things

I downloaded the new update on my iphone 4 and now its stuck on a screen where it shows a usb pointing up towards the itunes symbol, and i have tried syncing my phone to itunes to finish it but itunes wont detect my phone. What do i do? Please help

the iphone update will download all 774 mb but each time the download finishes i recieve the same error message.
this says that the network settings were incorrect or the network timed out please try again later.
i have tried using 3 different internet networks and the connection have been fine.I've been getting timed out for 2 days now, what finally worked for me was not plugging the phone into the computer and just doing the update through my wifi, worked perfectly, took less than 15 minutes

Since I downloaded the new update on my iphone 4s I no longer see the delivered message under my text when sent. Also the message is green instead of blue. Does anybody know how to fix this?
You are sending SMS messages. iMessages are blue. Go to Settings>>Messages>>iMessage ON.

Last night i was downloading the new update for the Iphone4 on my laptop through Itunes. After the download was done, it was starting to install, and then an error came up and didnt get a chance to check it. Now my Iphone is stuck on the screen with the USB pointing to the Itunes Icon and wont do anything else. Any advice on how to get this fixed, or do i need to go to the Apple store and have them look at it.

My iPhone 4s is stuck after attempting to download the latest update several hours ago. The screen shows picture to connect charger cord to iTunes however, when i do, iTunes is not detecting the phone when I plug it into my lap top. that has never been a problem before now. please help? I'm having the same problems. Can't even find out if Apple is working on it. Tried to downgrade but is not supported by apple so error 3194 comes up which is verifying with the apple web site. Which then stops everything. I understand you can modify the "hosts" file to by pass the issue, but hate doing that as it gets involved. May try it if I can't get any satisfaction from apple.

Have you ever jailbroken your iPhone with tether? Because if you have the jailbreak keeps a file on your phone making it so you can't update. To solve this problem your going to have to reset your phone.

Usually iTunes will tell you in that case, that iOS 4.2.1 the newest version for your phone.
