Impossible to install iTunes

Hello,
I have a problem with the installation of Itunes on my XP pro SP3.
When I launch the install, a few moment later I have this message:
"Impossible to open this key HKEYLOCALMACHINE\SOFTWARE\Appla Computer,Inc.\QuickTime\Installed Files\QTPlugin.ocx. Check that you have the corrects rights for that key or contact your technical support"
I tried to install with administrator session and in the safe mode but always the same message.
For information QuickTime is installed on my computer but it is impossible to uninstall it.
Please help me because I have buyed an iPhone and I want to synchronize it with iTunes.
Excuse me for my bad english.
Thank you.
Eavan.

"Impossible to open this key HKEYLOCALMACHINE\SOFTWARE\Appla Computer,Inc.\QuickTime\Installed Files\QTPlugin.ocx. Check that you have the corrects rights for that key or contact your technical support"
Okay. We'd better check your permissions on that registry key, eavan.
Log in to one of your Administrative accounts. Go "Start > Run", type regedit and hit enter.
Expand HKEYLOCALMACHINE
Expand SOFTWARE
Expand Apple Computer, Inc
Expand QuickTime
Expand Installed Files
Right-click on QuickTime.ocx and select "Permissions". Do your Administrative accounts have full permissions on that key?

  • Impossible to install iTunes 10.5

Hello, I have been trying to install the new version of iTunes to be able to update my iPhone with iOS5 for weeks, but everything is impossible. When I try it there appears a message of windows error.
Already I tried infinity of times uninstall the whole Apple's software and to reinstall iTunes but does not work (eliminating it with some program of uninstalling program as the CCleaner either).
    Any solution?
    Thanks

Have you tried download the iTunes software, but not use the update software.  Then turn off firewall and anti-virus program.  Restart the computer and login as admin.  Then run the iTunes download.  Often there are other installes left in memory on Windows that interfere with the iTunes installer.

  • Can not install itunes on w7

    Hey.
Impossible to install Itunes on W7. Deleted all TMP files in local user and followed the discription from Aple to solve the problem. No luck.
On the web some say I should install ver. 7.0.2 of Itunes or turn off my Bullgard virus detection.  Not shure I will do that.
Anybody who knows what this message means. "Can not open key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\.cda\Open withProgIDS....", which is the error I get.
    Any solutions to the problem?

    Try the following steps:
    1. Go to Microsoft website to fix install and Unistall problems. Click "Run now" from Fix it to remove all iTunes & related installer files:
    http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall
Be aware that Windows Installer CleanUp Utility will not remove the actual program from your computer. However, it will remove the installation files so that you can start the installation, upgrade, or uninstall over.
    2. You should remove all instances of iTunes and the rest of the components listed below:
it may be necessary to remove all traces of iTunes, QuickTime, and related software components from your computer before reinstalling iTunes.
Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order:
    iTunes
    QuickTime
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Follow the instructions from Apple article listed here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923 to remove all components
    3. Reboot your computer. Next, download iTunes from here:http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ and install from scratch

  • Impossible instal ITUNES after a manual uninstal

    Sorry for my english...
I uninstalled Itunes from control panel of Windows XP, but it was impossible complete the operation.
So I have delete manually all the files, folder, and all the keys in the register.
Now I try to re-install Itunes, but the installation after few time stop, and open a window that say to repeat the operation, but if I repeat the installatio the situation not change.
If I try with an older version (7) the installation stop because it find newer version. Seems it find something of the previous installation yet.
I tried all the cleaner system (windows, cc, etc) but without result.
I have also tried to re-install Quicktime alone and update the system with Apple Software update, but after download the installation files the installation process stop due to a not indicated error.
    Someone can help me?

Try using the Microsoft Installer Cleanup Utility to clean up the iTunes installer.
Download and install Microsoft Installer cleanup utility, there are instructions on the page as well as the download. Note that what you download is the installer not the program – you have to run it to install the program. The installer doesn't give any message to confirm the installation.
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301/
To run the program – All Programs>>Windows Install
Run the Cleanup Utility and remove any entry you find for iTunes.
    Restart your PC

  • I just want to authorize my HP laptop now that I have installed iTunes to it. Why is this seemingly impossible?

I just want to authorize my HP laptop now that I have installed iTunes on it.  My purchased products pop up from the iTunes store, but I cannot download because it says computer must be authorized. Then it gives no direction about how to do that.

Press the Alt and S keys and choose Authorize this Computer, or click here, follow the instructions, click on Store in the menu bar, and choose Authorize this Computer.

  • When installing iTunes 10.5 64bit on my win7 64bit computer I get a weird error message.

This all started when one day I plugged in my iPhone 4 to my iTunes 10.4 on my PC (win7 64bit) and I got nothing. I got the connection noise and my phone started charging but it would not show up in iTunes. In My Computer, it sees that I have an iPhone plugged in but shows it as a Camera, not a phone, and I am not able to see anything inside said "camera". At this point I decided to clear everything "Apple" off of my computer and manually install iTunes 10.5. Mid download i came across this error message that I have no clue what it is telling me. After clicking "OK" it then tells me "rolling back session" and then tells me that "Apple Mobile Device failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services." Since getting this messag I suspected that it was an AMD (apple mobile device) issue. AMD seems to be IMPOSSIBLE to uninstall/delete from my computer... At this point I'm giving up and looking for advice/help on this issue.
Im lead to believe that it is an AMD issue because iTunes 10.4 reads my iPod Shuffle perfectly but wont read my iPhone 4 or a friends iPhone 3g.
Thanks in advance for taking the time to read this!! Any help would be greatly appreciated because I dont want to reformat

  • I cannot install itunes and safari

I´ve been trying to install itunes and safari.  It is impossible. Always an erron.
    I use windows7 32

Also, you can download Safari here.  I don't know if this is where you were going before.

  • Cannot install iTunes on windows 7 64bit

Okay, I like so many cannot install iTunes on Windows 7 64bit.
Now Orginally I got a message saying something to the effect of:
There was a problem with the install you do not have permission for something...
Through some investigating my iTunes was being installed and removing all my permissions to view and/or modify files within that folder. Even if I was logged in as admin and installed as admin all the permissions would simply block me out.
This kind of had a familar feeling as in the last few versions of iTunes I had to run as admin just to open it (this is really annoying by the way)
So I searched the net and many people were saying to uninstall everything "Apple" and try again.  So I did that.  Now I have this new message:
there is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor.
And again I scoured the internet for a way to fix this.  I apparently am supposed to goto Control Pannel/Programs and Features and select Apple Software Update and select repair.  The problem is that no longer exists in my programs list since I removed it in the earlier step. iTunes still refuses to install spitting out the same error forever. I tried the Microsoft "fix it" tool which is supposed to remove the Apple Software Update incomplete uninstall (which is apparently the whole problem) but it doesn't show up in the list for "fixing".
I am at a loss.  Why doesn't Apple fix this.  I cannot update my iPhone to the latest software in fear I may need to restore it. With no iTunes that is impossible.  I cannot change any of my music or do anything until this is resolved.  If/when iPhone 5 comes out I cannot get it either unless this issue is taken care of somhow.
I searched for an installer for just the Apple Software Update program But it seems to not exist as a standalone thing (it would be useful if it were though). If it were perhaps I could install it again and then successfully remove/repair it and iTunes might install finally.
Now I have had previous versions of iTunes working perfectly fine.  I do not recall which version I was using before I tried to update and fell into this abyss however.

Yes b noir. I've tried running just "iTunes64.msi" from the command-line and while it didn't produce the same error "There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vender." it produced a different error in bold-type "iTunes Installer Completed" then "The installer encountered errors before iTunes could be configured...Errors occurred during installation. Your system has not been modified...Please run the installer again, or click Finish to exit". However, I discovered a wealth of options from the Windows Installer to try after typing "iTunes64.msi passive"...So I'll experiment some more when I have time.
P.S. I'm becoming more convinced that Apple is putting new software out there to get it debugged which was a trick that MicroSoft always seemed to do:-)

  • Why Can't I Install iTunes 10.5?

I recently tried to update Itunes 10.5 or the most recent itunes, and it keeps saying the fallowing:
" The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable." Then below it says: "Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the stallation package 'iTunes64.msi' in the box below." I have the option to click okay or brows and no matter what i do another message pops up that says "The path.. blah blah blah, Cannot be found, verify that you have access to this location and try again or try to find the installation package 'iTunes64.msi' in a folder from which you install the product iTunes"
NOW I did look up and find the answer to this question on apple support but nothing apple support told me to do worked. I did delete the program completely and removed ALL apple products from my computer i even went into my registry and manually deleted every trace left by apple and i got rid of everything but when i went to my "add or remove programs" Itunes was still listed and it would not let me delete iTunes, instead the same message came up even if i tried to delete it. I did try to look up the "Windows Installer Clean Up Utility" but apparently it doesn't exist anymore.. I am completely stuck on what to do, i tried to get ahold of Apple Support but that proved to be next to impossible, i waited on the phone for exactly 47 minutes on hold 90% of the time and when i did get ahold of someone they told me they were going to look for the problem and hung up after having to wait another 10 minutes..
Does anybody know what more i can do? I've tried just about everything.. and i'm really starting to loose paitence..

    Hi there,
I had the same experience. I'm using a Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop, with Windows 7 Home Edition, 32 bit.
I tried to install iTunes 10.5 and it started installing, then, just before the end of the process, came up with the following error message:
"There is a problem with this Windows Installer Package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor."
Of course, no information on what the program that couldn't be run was! At first I tried the usual stuff, like scanning for viruses etc. but nothing doing. Then I started Googling. In the end, I uninstalled all Apple stuff from my computer. A lot of it I had to do manually, going in to the program files drive and deleting stuff from there, but some of it wouldn't delete as it was saying it was open in Windows Explorer. In the end, I managed to delete the iTunes folders by selecting one of my mp3 tracks saved on the computer and right clicking 'open with'. I then browsed my pc to locate the iTunes folders still outstanding and was able to right click and delete them that way.
Then emptied the recycle bin and did a restart before going online and downloading iTunes 10.5.
Thankfully it worked, but its taken me a good few hours and made me really quite tetchy! I've never had this problem before, so I hope this is going to be a one off.
One thing that doesn't seem to be working is that, despite how many times I tell it that my preference is for the iTunes Media folder to be located on my external hard drive, it keeps putting it back to the C drive! Didn't have that issue with the last version. Grrrrrr. Arrrrgggh.
Hope you manage to get yours sorted - this is affecting a lot of people by the look of things.

  • Can't install iTunes on my new Vista-PC

I bought my Dell Notebook 2 months ago. It's with Vista Home Premium (no upgrade from XP, Vista installed from the beginning) and runs fine so far. But I've got no chance installing iTunes - seems to be simply impossible (it tells something of "VisualBasicScript is not installed" - which is probably not the problem...). Now as I saw in some discussion groups, some think that there's a problem with Vista/McAfee/iTunes. But others say there's none. Now my question:
    - is there anyone whith a similar system who had and solved this annoying problem?
    - or are there any other ideas beside of "wait until Apple publishes a new version of iTunes" (of which probably no one knows when this should happen)?
Dell Inspiron   Other OS   Windows Vista, 2GB, 2048MB RAM, 256graphics

I know nothing about Vista but I hope this helps you.

  • Cd-drive not recognised after installing itunes

after I installed itunes, my computer didn't recognise my cd-drive, in properties for the drive it states the following
Windows successfully loaded the device driver for this hardware but cannot find the hardware device. (Code 41)

I have seen several other people with the same issue. The problem seems to be some level of incompatibility between the Gear Software CD/DVD filter driver used by iTunes and some CD/DVD drives under Vista. I too have a Dell with the same problem, but I'm not holding my breath for a fix. The only workaround I know of is to to remove the GearAspiWDM filter driver from the registry. If you do this and reboot, your DVD drive will show up again, and iTunes will work except for burning CDs or DVDs. ITunes will also complain about drivers being installed incorrectly whenever you open it.
Here's the registry key to remove:
    HKEYLOCALMACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE1 0318}\UpperFilters=GearAspiWDM
I'm not sure whether the problem is with Vista, Gear Software, iTunes, or the Dell DVD drive firmware. But, getting all the parties working together to resolve this one will be next to impossible in my opinion.

  • How do I install itunes on a surface pro 2 tablet?

My ipad won't update through the ipad so I need to do it through my computer but all I have is a surface pro 2 windows tablet and I cant install iTunes on it. Is there anyway to download it for my computer or other ways of updating ipads if it wont work on the ipad??

iTunes should install on a Surface Pro 2 just like any other PC running Windows 8.1.  If you go to http://www.apple.com/itunes/ and click the Download iTunes button the next page should give you access to the appropriate installer.  Note, though, that the relatively limited storage, especially on the lower spec models, may limit the size of library you can have without using external storage.  iTunes itself requires 400Mb of free disc space to be installed.
iTunes does not run on the original Surface and the Surface 2 that run Windows RT.  The new Surface 3 runs full Windows 8.1 and should support iTunes just like the Pro 2 and Pro 3.
