Impossible to install on my MacBook first generation

I try to install on my MacBook first generation with 70 gig of free space and after few minutes the installation program say "I can't copy imporant files on your hard disk, I have to restart the installation". I try to repair the hard disk, the program said "No problem with your hard disk' and the autorizations part is not avalabile.
I think I have to make a clean install, I have a Times Machine back up, but I have some really importante files on my hard disk and I am really nervous about using Times Machine to restore my hard disk after the clean install.
First : what happen to my installation ? second : Can I perform a clean install and bring back all my important files and preferences on my new 10.6 hard disk ?

Hi Andy,
When you failed to install Windows 10 using the setup file, what the error messages it popped out?
If possible, could you please share a screenshot with us?
If this is the first time you trying to install Windows 10 with your computer, I suggest you check this article first:
System requirements
Further, you may try to use Windows 8.1 upgrade Assistant and check the situation. Usually if your PC can run
Windows 8.1, you’re good to go with Windows 10.

Compared to the 60GB 5400rpm that I replaced, the HDD access times for startup and opening applications became much better.
    There are problems with overheating?
    No noticeable difference.

Ive just upgraded my late 2009 macbook, and things are not working properly. First of all, when I started the computer first time after installing Mountain Lion, some message advised me that some files were impossible to install. Once I wrote my password, and for now on, everytime I start the session, another window advise me that "Java SE 6" is missing, due that, the computer can't run some "CS5Service Manager". If I try to install it, the download ends with an error. If finally, you skip the istallation, you arrive to the dock, but the menu bar at the top of the screen doesn't show up.
In addition, my trackpad doesn't works either. I can move the arrow but i can't click anywhere, probably because the option of clicking by touching is disabeled and I can't performance a regular click.
I'll be very glad if someone know what the heck is happening with my computer. Anyway, I'm going to the genius bar next Saturday. Thx!

    We're sorry.

Also, I had to install the software twice on my same computer before because I had to reboot the computer. I don't know if this affects the limit.

You are allowed to have two activated installations so there should not be a problem having working installations on the two machines.  If by chance you have somehow tied up two activations for the one machine you can have Adobe support help resolve that thru chat.

    Where do I get this?
It was only released a couple of months ago.
I really feel disinfranchised already by not being able to upgrade and keep up with other software needs but to not allow me to update to my full capacity is really ridiculous.

What is a error message and what do you see when it appears?
Haven't much problem with Airs around here, since they have a SSD they tend to be more reliable.
Perhaps it was a bad update, have you ran through this list of possible fixes?
Do as many as possible, starting with #1. Until the problem is resolved.
Use the boot 10.6 USB instead of the disk of course.

Trouble with slow Macbook Air. I have first generation MacBook Air and have a hard time keeping hard drive from being full. After trashing many docs, I have almost 5 gigs available, but mac is slow and I keep getting color wheel when I use Mail. I'd like to install Lion, but now I'm afraid it will slow down my machine even further. Do I have enough free hard disc space? Is Mail problem related to free hard disc space? Thanks for your help!

7gb of free disc space is required to install Lion.  Read this about how to free up disc space: http://pondini.org/OSX/DiskSpace.html.  Also, advice on how to speed up your mac: http://www.maclife.com/article/feature/25_ways_speed_your_mac

  • Why is First Generation iPad not connecting to MacBook Air?

We received our daughter's first generation iPad. Whenever I connect it to the new MacBook Air the iPad will keep beeping, and give a message that "this iPhone is not longer connected to itunes" The beeping continues.
It connects OK to my Macbook Pro, but I don't want to sync it with the MacBook Pro.
I re-installed iTunes on the MacBook Air and then plugged in the iPad and got the message that the USB port was being disconnected because there was too much power draw on that port. The only USB connection is the iPad.
Any ideas on what this could be? I'm using a newer cable, the iPad was 45% charged. Is there some limitation of the power draw on the MacBook Air? Is this older iPad drawing more power than the MacBook Air is capable of?

    - Macbook Air is plugged into external power
    - I cleaned the connections on the iPad and on the cable
    - Nothing changed, still get the USB power message and/or the message from iTunes that the device is no longer connected.

  • My Macbook Air first generation is slow and applications don't work!

Last week, I woke up to find that my macbook air (first generation) has completely frozen. I went ahead and tried many keys such as esc, etc. until I decided to press on the power button for a few seconds until it restarted. Next, I found an empty screen with nothing but the apple logo on it. I was patient but nothing happened, 3 hours into the wait. I went on the apple support communities and followed a few steps to reboot and ended up with a blue screen, with my start up slowly starting. Ever since, everything takes about x50 the amount of time it takes to do anything for example, when I click on a file, it takes x 50 times longer it takes to open the file or empty the trash, etc. I've tried opening any application to try and back up so I can do a format as they call it, but I can't open any application such as Mail, etc.
I am not a computer software/hardware literate person but I can understand what's going on and how to follow steps suggested by IT/apple experts. I have also done a hardware check up on reboot and everything is fine with the hardware.
Please help me get my macbook air back.
    Thank you.

Two other factors that could impact performance like that .... reduced memory and a too full hard drive/SSD.
If you click on the apple on the menu bar, and about this mac, does it show you the memory size  you expect to have, ie, 2GB?
If you can, bring up the Activity Monitor (on your hard drive in applications/utlities) to see if anything is hogging the CPU.
On your hard drive/SSD, how much free space do you have?  You need 5GB minimum with 10% to 15% being better, for systems usage. Less than that can really slow the system down.
If you can, bring up Disk Utility (on your hard drive in applications/utilities) and do a verify disk to check the disk status.
You could reset PRAM ... won't hurt and 'might' help
    Shut down the computer.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    Release the keys.
You should be able to run the Apple hardware test by disconnecting any devices, leaving the power adapter in, and reboot holding the D key down. Run the extended test.

  • Installing XP on Macbook pro in bootcamp ~updates first?

For installing XP on Macbook pro in bootcamp what updates should I have installed first? I have already installed parallels with XP and all is well but I have one PC program that will not run on parallels and needs to be setup in a Bootcamp environment. I want to run the same version of XP in bootcamp - I hope.
If anyone has experence in partitioning the HD without compromising the Parallels OS setup and the MAC OS please advise, or where I can find instruction for doing this. Thank you.
    Linda

Thanks- that what I was hoping. I wanted to run Windows XP- do you recommend a specific partition size? I have found information that is a bit conflicting about installing the same copy of Windows as was is installed on my Parallels. Some information states that it will wipe out my XP in Parallels if I try to install the same CD in  Bootcamp, then there is information about work around's - and running Bootcamp inside of Parallels? Yikes!
I have been told by the software manufacturer I need bootcamp to run 'Pool Studio' on a MAC- that I can't use Parallels- do you have any idea if running the bootcamp Virtural Machine inside of Parallels would act the same as a separate version of windows. Except possible eleveate the licence issue.
Its ****** to have to buy another windows licience to run one program.
Do you have any ideas? Thanks

  • Windows 7 Install on First Generation MacPro

Anyone got any links or technical explanation on how to install Windows 7 on a first generation Mac Pro?
My understanding is that there are some specific technical limitations related to the Firmware on my particular machine on my particular build for my particular year that require some workarounds in terms of burning something to a CD or DVD or some other kind of technical creativity.
I have a technical person coming over to take care of this and I am hoping another technical person on the list would be kind enough to give me instructions and or links that I can provide her.
    Thanks.

The trouble with 32-bit is 1.9GB RAM
To use two processors which you have, is you need Windows 7 Pro.
There are workarounds like above. Can require installing the 32-bit version first to reburn and modify the DVD to ISO and back to DVD. Or use in a VM temporarily.
    Annoying.
Easy method: install Windows 7 64-bit Pro on a PC w/o activating or even running the updates. Also, skip the first part where Windows asks if you want to "improve" install process and download drivers in that case.
Mac Pro can run warmer, the fans coming on when it comes out of sleep or has been shutdown but lack of themal fan management.
