Impossible to publish without crashing

Hello,
Iweb 2.0 simply cannot publish on my system. It get's all the way to the point were the timer (circle) starts to run next to the pages updating and then, without fail, iweb crashes.
It is impossible to publish.
It really is shocking how buggy this release is.

Folks, I have at leaste determined the cause of the crashes. I mad a brand new site, not opening my old one and it publishes fine. If I use my old site, it cashes. I don't know where to go from here with that info, but at least I know the root cause is in the importing of an old (pre 2.0) site.
Any thoughts?

Can't publish without crashing

I just installed Presenter 7 and every time I try to publish
a .ppt file it crashes PowerPoint. I get the message that PP had a
serious problem with the Presenter plugin and it had to close. Any
suggestions? I'm sure I'm missing something somewhere.

I have uninstalled/reinstalled Presenter 7 several times, I even tried going back to Presenter 6 - no dice.
I have tried publishing small, text only pptx files and that seems to work, but my main presentations with no audio never get past the "starting conversion" point. There is nothing complicated in the presentation, and I have been able to publish presentations with 6 in the past.
I have updated to 7.0.2, but this has not helped at all.
I must just be missing something, I am fairly new at this.

IWeb won't Publish, just crashes.

iWeb will not publish to .Mac. After pressing publish, the program signs into .mac and then proceeds to create the web pages. Once all the pages are created circles form next to their consecutive sites. These usually fill up like a clock showing the site being uploaded. However, ifor the past few days nothing happens once the circles appear. Then after a few minutes iWeb crashes. Also, during this time my whole computer freezes. iTunes will stop playing until the iWeb crash is complete. This has happened every time I have tried to publish over the past few days. Just last week I was able to publish without any problems.
I think it is a problem with .mac because I am able to publish to a folder without any problems.
I have repaired permissions over and over again...
The only thing new I added to my mac since my last time I publish something in iWeb was the trial version of File Maker's Bento.

I did not want to upgrade to leopard, but I had to. At the law school I go to the exam software only uses windows. I waited until the last minute to instal XP and by then you had to have leopard to use boot camp. Leopard has a lot of nice ideas. You cannot really call them features yet because most of them don't work. Notes in mail is a great idea... But, once I started using it heavily, it went crazy and started erasing all my to do's, duplicating notes like crazy, or something else. I just gave up... The only really nice feature about leopard is Preview and the way it allows you to edit PDFs. I suppose screen sharing is pretty cool too and seems to work okay. However, everyone is so competitive in law school no one wants to "share."
My wife's macbook hasn't fared to well with leopard either.

Things to note:
I have been unable to update firmware on this computer for about a year now. Im not sure why.
I am running a bootleg copy of Windows XP on this computer, I would not like to spend $149 to get Windows 7 if possible.

Why don't you take your 'old' MBP into your local Apple Store and have them check out everything that's wrong with it - and I mean everything? Then, when you get an estimate about how much it would cost to get the machine completely repaired, ask about the Apple flat-rate repair pricing?
It's worth a shot - and with what you may save, you can put in the bank for a new MBP.

Impossible to publish iCal on Webdav Apache2

The OS X Server is set-up using Apache2 and the webdav was correclty configured as discribed in the following useful pages:

I have no problem to access the webdav folder by ftp, browser, "connect to server" or to read the content with iCal after having copied the ics fiels.
But it is impossible to publish an ical to that webdav folder.
(Problem of authentification).
The compliance test with Litmus is ok except for the "cond_put .." which Failed.
Client: OS X 10.4.8
iCal: 2.0.3
OS X Server 10.4.8
Any idea why it is impossible to publish Calendars?

I found the solution:
It work fine using ../davlocks/DAVLock for the DAVLockDB parameter.
But the davlocks folder must have the rights to 777 (chmod -R 777 davlocks/)

Is Elements Organizer 9 robust (powerful) enough to organize 10,000 photos without crashing?

I'm scanning literally thousands of photos from my 40 years as a photographer. I'm currently using Elements Organizer 9 to keep them organized using keytags and dates. I want to know if I can trust this basket to hold ALL my "eggs". I'm afraid I may get a "corrupt catalog" error message and all my work will be null and void. I would love to switch to using Adobe Bridge but it's out of my price range right now as I'm home on disabnility with a torn shoulder.
Does anyone know of Elements Organizer can handle 10,000 plus photos without crashing?

I have been using PSE6, PSE10, PSE11 and PSE12 with catalogs containing 50 000 items. There has been posts about users with more than 100 000 items. The organizer offers a good backup scheme.

A 'corrupt' catalog is something very rare, but you'll see many posts about catalogs containing 'corrupt' media files (mainly videos). The risk is minimal if you regularly use the built-in tools to repair and optimize the catalog and do regular backups.
One of the main concerns about losing one's organization is about keywords, captions, tags and notes. The organizer lets you save those data to the files themselves, so that they are accessible to any other editing software.
A PSE9 catalog can be read and converted to more recent Elements versions, as well as by Lightroom. I would advise upgrading to PSE12 when you can, but PSE9 is still a valid option.

Mail Mavericks still does not start without crashing

I've updated Mavericks and also installed the Mail update but my mail app is still crashing, can't start it without crashing.
I have 3 gmail accounts that use the mail app...everything was functioning fine before Macericks...Also if I try to go to Online accounts in system preferences, system preferences crashes.
Anny suggestions?

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:

I have some photos that are really just stubs that represent the other "real" photos to publish.
I don't want to have to do a mock export/rendering of them just to make them appear published.
Any ideas?

In one of my plugins I have a requirement to download and add photos from the remote server and populate the newly created published collection in Lightroom. In this routine, I use the following code to add the images to a published collection using the method provided by Don above.

The biggest thing here is that adding a photo like this requires the code to reside within the withWriteAccessDo block.

You can download the desired AIR SDK version from Archived Adobe AIR SDK versions

Publish without showing browser information

How can I record or publish without the browser information showing on the published version? I've set my recording area to the application region and also tried with designating a custom area. I'm using IE as the browser. The browser and favorites bar doesn't appear in my recordings, but they do when I publish.
Any help will be most appreciated.

Screen capture would help here so we could see what you are seeing.
But my guess is that you are seeing the browser that is actually presenting the Captivate. Same as you would see the browser when visiting any other web page.
The only way I'm aware of to get rid of that is to press the F11 key to go into full screen mode, or publish the captivate as an EXE.

Reader (version X or higher) has stopped working without crash report. (Win 7 x86)

I am using Windows 7 32bit Home Pre.
Version X or higher or Adobe Reader always freezes and crashes and stops running, without crash reports.
I've already tried the lab cleaner stuff and the manually open EULA before using.
PLEASE HELP.

Now I have justed installed XI and installed the protected.reg thing.
It seems okay now, but I dunno if it will screw up aagain, so I will mark as helpful first. If it f___ up again, I will post here again.

How to export... without crashing Premiere ?

I have been able to export this project (into .AVI with Media Encoder) then later produce a WMV with Windows Media Encoder.
Tonight, no less than 4 times Premiere crashed after long minutes of exporting that same project and I gave up.
Only changes brought were some shots processed into After Effect CS3 then re-exported into .AVI files, the latest being then reimported into Premiere CS3 and edits performed there for replacing old shots. I can render the project with no problem within Premiere.
I would like to get insights about the best way to export a project (read: get the best quality output for web, without crashing...) - and tips to avoid crashing (read: "Premiere.exe stopped working...." kind of messages).
Using Adobe Encore to go directly to WMV did not work for me - which is why I have followed some peoples (here) advices to go with WME (x64).

Encore does not export to WMV. I'm not sure why you think it should.
As a test, import your problem project into a new project and then try to export and let us know what happens.

Impossible to launch PSE9 without crash

Downloaded PSE 9 30 day trial today. Tried opening it over 10 times but it crashes every time.
I restarted my Mac, reinstalled PSE, trashed the plist file, etc...
Is there some trick to making this work?
My Mac is:
iMac 27" 2.93 Core i7
12GB RAM

Is there a way to import images without crashing?

I am on Windows and I have 8000 images or so in 40 directories.
When I import into LR, it crashes. I have been sending that crash data to Microsoft (that dialog that pops up), so the Adobe engineers can download it from there.
A few things I noticed:
* when importing the same photos from the same directory tree, LR shows me a list of the photos it will not import, because they are already in the library. this is great, but it only shows the first couple of hundred or maybe a thousand? It does not list the most recently added photos. It's almost as if there is a limit to how many "previously loaded images in the library" it can handle.
* sometimes when crashes occur, i get a crash dialog and sometimes LR just restarts... either can happen when processing the same photos and the same directories. I can't see a pattern.
* note: *all* of these 8000 photos can be loaded with Bridge/Photoshop without errors, so I am sure it's a LR problem.
I understand software development, but why didn't Adobe QA team test importing with hundreds or thousands of images? With the wealth of development tools availalbe today, these kinds of stress tests can be done in an automated way, as part of the build process.

A bit of history:
During the beta phase I only had a very small library with some
unimportant photos. When I uninstalled beta 4 a week or so before v1
came out I did not delete the original database.
I installed v1, the original DB was automatically detected and used, I

hitting performance is my RSS aggregator, a plug-in called Good News.
It may be curious coincidences but since I installed LR I had two or
three crashes of Trillian when LR was running; and the crashes on
import with LR happened just when Good News refreshed a number of RSS
feeds. The new messages are shown as small windows on the desktop,
fading away after a few seconds. With more than one new message [most
of the time there are more, often enough a lot more] the windows stack
up until the border of the desktop is reached, then they move down
when other notification windows disappear. Quite some work for CPU and
graphics adaptor.
I explain that because it may help others to find the problem, and in
order to give Adobe something to look for [like incompatibilities
between application].
BTW, after I closed down Trillian and let LR work, no crash anymore.
Could be coincidence, though.
