Impossible to turn off GPU fan on GTX 770?

The fan on my GPU is annoying and I'd like to turn it off completely.
I've secured that there's a good air flow and temperature in my case, and as I'm not gaming these months, it should be okay to turn off the GPU fan.
I tried using MSI Afterburner, but you can't set the fan speed any lower than 26% of max. fan speed.
This is the GTX 770 I have:
MSI GeForce GTX770 OC 2GB
N770-2GD5/OC
I tried disabling this graphics card in my OS (Windows 7 Prof. 64 bit), but the GPU fan was still running.
Is there no other way than to remove the graphics card completely?
Hope someone can help
Best,
Henrik
Denmark

It is not possible to turn off the fan via software as the vga's firmware will ensure that it is running at least at minimum speed to seed up when needed. GTX770 unlike new Maxwell gpus should also be too hot to be cooled passively with the standard heatsink. If you want to stop the fans none the less you need to unplug them from the pwm header of the card. As the card couldn't start the fans at dangerous temps then it would be quite risky. Note that not only the gpu but also vrms might overheat.

  • NewBlueFX - CC versions - turning off GPU for all products needed

I've had NewBlueFX plugins for quite a while now - but the one issue that bugs me about using them is I have to turn off GPU for all products when applying them (virtually every job). I was advised by NewBlue to do this when I was having problems editing and playback being messd around visually why editing.
Just installed (correctly) their updated CUDA versions and still no difference in preformance and still have to turn off GPU...
Clicking on the plugin applied>info>click "disable GPU for all products" and it all runs smoothly.
Does anyone else have the same issue? Is it an issue or is this normal? Why?
Should it not be that effects plugins like this should actually work with all the bells and whistles turned on - not off?
Having spent out on a machine with 24 cores, a Quadro 2000 card and stacks of memory - the machine should be able to handle a NewBlueFX plugin with GPU and everything turned on...?
Am willing to learn on this...

Just below "Extras" in the View menu there is "Show...", where you can check/uncheck individual items - permanently.
Ctrl+H (extras) is just a bucket to collect them all and turn off with a single shortcut.

  • Impossible to turn off autoscaling?

    LV 2010.0, Win Vista.
I have a Waveform chart with four channels(plots), and four scales.
While running, it seems impossible to turn off AUTOSCALE Y, except for plot/scale #0
If I choose AUTOSCALE Y on any other scale, it affects only plot #0.
Doesn't the menu apply to the scale that I'm clicking on?

OK, attached is a VI that proves (I think) that this is a LabVIEW bug.
SubPanels have nothing to do with it.
Re-entrant has nothing to do with it.
It has to do with EVENT REGISTRATION, which  was on my original code (where I made the JING), but not on my whipped-up example.
If you run the attached VI as is, you will see no failure.  All scales are independent, as expected.
If you ENABLE the EVENT REGISTRATION vi, then the chart starts misbehaving: changing AUTOSCALE  on scales #1, #2, or #3 affects ONLY scale #0, not the one you clicked on.
There is no event handler for the event, though adding one doesn't change anything.
I don't know yet, whether it has to be a SHORTCUT ACTIVATION event, or whether it has to be on the chart at all.

  • Impossible to turn off the computer

It is impossible for me to turn off the computer by clicking the normal sequence (apple symbol and turn off the computer). I need to press the on/off button for some seconds to be able to turn it off. I need your help, please.

These instructions must be carried out as an administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Step 1
For this step, the title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
In the top right corner of the Console window, there's a search box labeled Filter. Initially the words "String Matching" are shown in that box. Enter "BOOT_TIME" (without the quotes.)
Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Note the timestamps of the BOOT_TIME log messages, which refer to the times when the system was started. Now clear the search box and scroll back in the log to the last boot time when you had the problem. Select the messages logged before the boot, during the time something abnormal was happening. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
For example, if the system was unresponsive or was failing to shut down for three minutes before you forced a restart, post the messages timestamped within three minutes before the boot time, not after. Please include the BOOT_TIME message at the end of the log extract—not at the beginning.
If there are long runs of repeated messages, please post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message.
When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.
    Step 2
    In the Console window, select
DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION ▹ System Diagnostic Reports
(not Diagnostic and Usage Messages) from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
There is a disclosure triangle to the left of the list item. If the triangle is pointing to the right, click it so that it points down. You'll see a list of reports. A crash report has a name that begins with the name of the crashed process and ends in ".crash". A panic report has a name that begins with "Kernel" and ends in ".panic". A shutdown stall report has a name that ends in ".shutdownstall". Select the most recent of each, if any. The contents of the report will appear on the right. Use copy and paste to post the entire contents—the text, not a screenshot. It's possible that none of these reports exists.
I know the report is long, maybe several hundred lines. Please post all of it anyway.
If you don't see any reports listed, but you know there was a crash or panic, you may have chosen Diagnostic and Usage Messages from the log list. Choose DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION instead.
In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)
Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report—they're very long and rarely helpful.

  • Turn off GPU on my Dell M4400?

    Hello,
I asked myself if it is possible to use my M4400 without GPU. I don't know how this could be achieved and if it is possible with a M4400.
    Thank you!
    Clementis

Well. I think it would depend on if your laptop has another video device. And what I mean is, if that GPU is the only device that has the ability to render, then no.
I think it would be very very difficult to do. Sorry for being so negative.

  • Turn off fans on mac pro

Hi all, i founded many programs to monitor fans speed and temperature like iStat... Does anyone known if exists a program that allow me to turn off some fans ? regards

Turning off any fans in the mac pro, would surely result in something very very bad, very very quickly.
CPU fans absolutely must remain function... after 20 minutes of high load your CPU's could boil water - luckily they will emergency shutdown before then... basically your machine turns off and your CPU(s) are at risk of serious and permanent heat damage. Its a bad idea to kill the fans by the hard drives... hard drives will turn off when overheated, and they will have drastically reduced lifetimes. A power supply, as a brody says, will likely catch on fire without its fan running. The northbridge on these babies gets hot as **** already................... and RAM error rates go up FAST as it gets high
In short turning off any of these fans could, and will, cause serious damage to your computer.

  • ITunes Match will not turn off on my iPhone 5s

    The problem:
I've got it turned on on my iPhone 5S, running iOS 7.1.2.
I go into Settings -> Music, and flip the toggle to turn off iTunes Match. Back up to Settings, go back into Music, the toggle is turned back on.
It is impossible to turn off iTunes Match on my phone. iTunes (running on Macbook Pro Air, w/ OS X 10.9.4) shows the phone as having iTunes Match turned on, always, no matter what. I've tried unmounting the phone, shutting down iTunes while changing the setting on phone, etc. Nothing changes the problem.
As others have reported, if I attempt to update the cloud with new playlists or tracks added to my laptop, it claims it is syncing to iTunes Match, but never completes this process.
At this point I'm paying for a service that is significantly impeding my ability to listen to music I own on devices I also own. Thanks Apple.

    Hi,
You can turn off auto renew by signing into you iTunes account on your computer.
With regard your iPhone have you tried signing out of the iTunes Store?

Just an idea for you. There is an entire Apple Discussion forum dedicated to Boot Camp and Windows XP.
Whereas, not everyone here with an Intel iMac has installed, tried to install or has experience with BC & XP, everyone there has or at least has an interest. You may attract help more quickly there.

  • How to turn off spelling check in iCal

hi, i am new to mac (yeah, i finally made The Transition) and i have the latest Mac OS X Version 10.6.3. would anyone please advise me on how to turn the spelling check off in iCal. i can't seem to find any right answer. thanks a lot.

A post from April 2010 and a similar question from 2009, both unanswered. Does this mean iCal spell checking can't be disabled?
I find it outrageously annoying, worse than ordinary annoying, because the calendar is full of ten-dollar words like surnames that will always note as wrong. It's like having a surname highlighting feature. I can't even turn it off in a single event because the next time I launch iCal it's back on again by default. For that matter, why is the active toggle there at all if you can only turn it off for the duration of a session? I suppose I've adapted by turning it off manually every time a red squiggly appears, but I haven't stopped thinking about it.
Is spell check impossible to turn off permanently?

  • How to turn off threaded sms on iPhone 4?

    Hi all
I get lost in the way iPhone stores the sms messages. I cannot find back to both incoming and outgoing messages since they are not stored in one linear time sequence.  The same functionality was also (by default)?) on the e-mails but happily that could be disabled.  If it is impossible to turn off threaded sms I quite frankly must buy another phone.
Hope someone out there has discovered how to disable the threaded sms functionality.
    Cheers
    FR

This is not an option on the iPhone.

  • MacBook Pro (June 2010) freezing with screen turned off (not sleep)

    Hi.
This issue has happened to me two times now. I recently bought a Macbook Pro 13 inch and the problem has happened when I let the computer sitting there without moving anything with its lid opened, after like 20 minutes when i'm going to use it again it has the screen turned off, the fan on and the indicator light half way on constantly but anything would respond, to use it again I have to hold down the power botton until it turns off.
It was not sleeping because I have the sleep timer set to never, what I do have on is the sleep display timer to 15 minutes.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

    Please help!
