Impossible to write a tilde '~' in Oracle

Hello everybody,
After the set up of a patch this weekend on ebs (version 11.5.10) we are facing a problem : we can not anymore write the tilde caracter '~' in any filed.
The stranger point is that we can copy this caracter (from textpad for example) and paste it in the field.
Has anyone had the same problem please ?

I think that the main patch which could have created problems is Forms6i Patchset 19 (version 6.0.8.28, Patch 6194129).Did you "Generate Product JAR Files" via adadmin?
By the way thank you very much for your efficency answering me !Do not mention it!
Thanks,
Hussein

  • Granting Write rights to an ORACLE directory entry

    Hi
    I got some problems with granting Write rights to an ORACLE directory entry on a 8.1.7.0.0 Database.
    When I try grant write rights:
    grant write on directory dump_dir to IDM;
    This results in ORACLE error ORA-22928: invalid privilege on directories
    There are no problems with read rights:
    Granting read works ok.
    The directory entry exists, typing:
    select * from dba_directories;
    gives...
    OWNER DIRECTORY_NAME
    ------------------------------ ------------------------------ DIRECTORY_PATH
    SYS DUMP_DIR
    /home/track/export
    v$version states that ORACLE 8.1.7.0.0 Production version is being used.
    Hope you can help, Thanks.

    Hi Raghavendra, welcome to the forum!
    I suggest you remove you email from your post to avoid recieveing undesired emails.
    There are two OCA paths, OCA Developer or OCA DBA.
    For both paths you need to take one of the following SQL exams:
    1z0-007 Introduction to Oracle9i SQL (this is an outdated exam)
    or
    1z0-047 Oracle Database SQL Expert (more advanced exam recommended for developers/dbas with SQL experience)
    or
    1z0-051 Oracle Database 11g: SQL Fundamentals I (recommended for beginners or people with average experience in SQL)
    After passing one of these exams, if you want to take the OCA DBA path you need to do the:
    1z0-052 Administration I exam
    After passing one of the SQL exams, if you want to take the OCA Developer path you need one of the:
    1z0-147 Program with PL/SQL (outdated exam)
    or
    1z0-144 Oracle Database 11g: Program with PL/SQL (more actual exam, recommended)

  • AT200 impossible to write micro-sd card

    Hi forum,
    I have a problem with the external sd card. The tablet shows it, but it is impossible to write on.
    regards
    holgg

    On my AT200 i can always write/copy to the sd-card with the Toshiba File Manager.
    IMPORTANT note before you continue reading:
    As formatting erases all data on the SD-Card be sure to safely backup all data from the SD-Cards before formatting it.
    You can format your SD (on a windows computer) with the filesystem "exFAT" (opposed to ntfs or FAT32). This made it possible for me to let other apps write to /mnt/sdcard2.

    Hallo Barbara,
    thanks a lot for your help!!!
    I've noticed that it is necessary to create the user textuser as ctxsys. So i've done like you recommended but unfortunately the result is the same.....
    I added an utl_file Path to my SPFILE. (utl_file_dir= /home/oracle/mydocs) as you can see below. (is it necessary to something else to the spfile which i haven't noticed at all???
    After that i tried to set up all by using sqlplus for having the possibility to show the results.
    Below you can see the statements, the connect-Changes (ctxsys/textuser)
    and the echo .
    Do you or somebody else have an idea what i can do additionally to get this working???
    Thanks a lot and regards Julius

  • Is it possible to read/write Chinese character into Oracle 8i(WE8ISO8859P1) in Applet

    I can display Chinese character in swing label or text field, however, when I read
    the Chinese character data from (or write to) Oracle DB, it shows ??? instead. I can't
    change the code page of my DB, (if use ZHT16Big5 instead of WE8Iso8859P1 as the DB page
    code, than everything is OK. :< ) is there any solution for this?
    Server:
    DB:Oracle8i(8.1.6)with Character set: WE8ISO8859P1
    System Environment:NLS_LANG=American_America.WE9ISO8859P1
    OS: Win2000 Advance Server(NLS:950 Traditional Chinese)
    client:
    Applet (written by JDeveloper 3.2) compiled with code: ISO8859_1
    JDBC Driver: Oracle JDBC Thin Driver (ver 8.1.7 or 8.1.6)
    Browser: IE5.5 (with code Western Europe(ISO) or UTF-8 or Traditional Chinese...)
    null

    Eric,
    There is no good way to do this. In your ASP/ADO application I think you are creating a garbage in garbage out situation. Because the client NLS_LANG matches the DB characterset no conversion takes place. Therefore your chinese characters get inserted in the DB. But the data is really garbage.
    When you use Java thin driver a conversion automatically takes place from UCS-2 -> WE8ISO8859P1. The Chinese characters in UCS-2 have no equivalent code point in WE8ISO8859P1, so you end up with replacement characters ??

    Hi,
    I dont know sql server 2005. But by observing it I feel you are generating sql dynamically based on condition inside the proc.
    DECLARE
       TYPE EmpCurTyp IS REF CURSOR;
       emp_cv   EmpCurTyp;
       emp_rec  employees%ROWTYPE;
       sql_stmt VARCHAR2(200);
       v_job   VARCHAR2(10) := 'ST_CLERK';
    BEGIN
       sql_stmt := 'SELECT * FROM employees WHERE job_id = :j';
       OPEN emp_cv FOR sql_stmt USING v_job;
       LOOP
         FETCH emp_cv INTO emp_rec;
         EXIT WHEN emp_cv%NOTFOUND;
         DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE('Name: ' || emp_rec.last_name || ' Job Id: ' ||
                               emp_rec.job_id);
       END LOOP;
       CLOSE emp_cv;

  • SQL that may be impossible to write

    I am currently using a 10.2.0.4 version Oracle Database.
    I have a table that contains all of the employees with a REPORTS_TO column so you can tell which employee reports to whom. The data looks something like this:
    POSITION_NBR EMP_NAME JOB_TITLE REPORTS_TO
    1122 Boss, Ima Owner
    5421 Mann, James Manager 1122
    5621 Black, Mary Manager 1122
    2201 Clark, Michael Supervisor 5421
    6620 Reed, Roland Supervisor 5621
    6890 Jackson, William Supervisor 5421
    7220 Hansome, Jack Supervisor 5421
    3342 Terry, Cherry Desktop 2201
    6902 Butter, Pat Admin 2201
    7365 Gonzales, Slyvia Admin 6890
    7369 Knapp, Jason Sales 6890
    7370 Fedric, Justin Sales 6890
    7401 Blakeney, Albert Sales 6890
    7422 Mora, Phillip Admin 7220
    9880 Herrera, Milton Driver 7220
    9882 Aguire, Fred Driver 7220
    9900 Armijo, Randall Laborer 6620
    9960 Watkins, Jack Laborer 6620
    By looking at the data you can see that POSITION_NBR 1122 is the owner of the place and doesn't report to anyone. If you look down the REPORTS_TO column for 1122, you can see that there are two Manager's who report to the Owner because the 1122 is his position number.
    The data above I just made up. The real data probably has 8 or 10 levels with hundreds of employees. I want to write an SQL where I can say show me all of the employee's that belong to a specific POSITION_NBR, no matter what the level and get back all of that person's employees. So, if I wanted to see 5621s employee's I would like to get back POSITION_NBRs: 6620, 9900, and 9960, because I want to include the subordinates. If you look at the data 6620 is the only person reporting to 5621, but 9900 and 9960 report to position 6620 so I want to include them.
    I am really poor with Analytical Functions, but from what I see I cannot use them any way. I can write a correlated sub-query, but since I'm not sure how many levels I want, I'm not sure how I could write it to get back all of the appropriate people in one column anyway. I can do it with PL/SQL, but would really like an SQL Statement that I could use.
    If I wanted to see all of William Jackson's employee's I would like to see POSITION_NBRs 7365, 7369, 7370, and 7401 come back. If I wanted to see all of Michael Clark's employees I would like to see POSITION_NBRs 3342 and 6902 come back. If I wanted to see Ima Boss's employee's I would like to see all of the POSITION_NBRs returned.
    Is this possible to do with SQL or should I just stick with PL/SQL?
    Any help is appreciated.
    The scripts below can be used to create the example data:
    create table example_table
    (position_nbr number,
    emp_name varchar2(40),
    job_title varchar2(20),
    reports_to number);
    insert into example_table values(1122,'Boss, Ima','Owner','');
    insert into example_table values(5421,'Mann, James','Manager','1122');
    insert into example_table values(5621,'Black, Mary','Manager','1122');
    insert into example_table values(2201,'Clark, Michael','Supervisor','5421');
    insert into example_table values(6620,'Reed, Roland','Supervisor','5621');
    insert into example_table values(6890,'Jackson, William','Supervisor','5421');
    insert into example_table values(7220,'Hansome, Jack','Supervisor','5421');
    insert into example_table values(3342,'Terry, Cherry','Desktop','2201');
    insert into example_table values(6902,'Butter, Pat','Admin','2201');
    insert into example_table values(7365,'Gonzales, Slyvia','Admin','6890');

    insert into example_table values(9880,'Herrera, Milton','Driver','7220');
    insert into example_table values(9882,'Aguire, Fred','Driver','7220');
    insert into example_table values(9900,'Armijo, Randall','Laborer','6620');

    Thanks for posting the sample data.
    From next time if you could format your post it will be much appreciated. Also spend some time reading the oracle manual. It's all documented there.

  • Interaction between Writer and JavaBeans with Oracle Forms

    Hi, guys,
    I've been facing some difficulties trying to integrate Writer and Oracle Forms Web (10g). I'm able to open a Writer Document by using a JavaBean executed from Eclipse, but I cannot get the same operation working from forms web. Has anyone ever tried to do somenting like that? Is there a solution to communication between Forms 10G and OpenOffice Writer and how to do it?
    Thanks in advance.

    Thanks for your prompt answer. But I still have some questions. The Bean I'm using is the OOoBean, provided by OpenOffice and there isn't much documentation around. I have to control the Writer text editor from forms 10G, but I haven't been successful in my goal.
    I'll show the code I'm using in eclipse. I need to adapt it to work in Forms 10G.

  • It's impossible to write on a DVD !

    Hi.
    I've bought my Mac in 2007...
    Now, I've got a problem : i can't write no datas on a DVD (DVD-R/+R or RW); This message appears, at the final step : error code 0x80020022.
    What does-it mean ? What could I do ?
    Writing DVD is necessary for my job (images, sounds, music...). It' s really a big problem.

    HI,
    Try repairing disk permissions. Quit any open applications/programs. Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.
    Make sure the hard drive is ok.
    Insert Installer disk and Restart, holding down the "C" key until grey Apple appears.
    Go to Installer menu (Panther and earlier) or Utilities menu (Tiger and later) and launch Disk Utility.
    Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in the left panel.
    Select First Aid in the Main panel.
    (Check S.M.A.R.T Status of HDD at the bottom of right panel. It should say: Verified)
    Click Repair Disk on the bottom right.
    If DU reports disk does not need repairs quit DU and restart.
    If DU reports errors Repair again and again until DU reports disk is repaired.
    When you are finished with DU, from the Menu Bar, select Utilities/Startup Manager.
    Select your start up disk and click Restart
    While you have the Disk Utility window open, look at the bottom of the window where you see Capacity and Available. *Make sure there is always 15% free disk space.* Not enough disk space can cause directory corruption.

  • How to read\write text file into oracle database.

    Hello,
    I am having text file called getInfo in c:\temp folder. I would like to populate data from text file to data base. How to proceed. Could anybody help me out.

    Here is a web page with easy to follow instructions regarding external files: http://www.adp-gmbh.ch/ora/misc/ext_table.html.
    Now I understand what all the excitement is over external tables.
    "External tables can read flat files (that follow some rules) as though they were ordinary (although read-only) Oracle tables. Therefore, it is convenient to use external tables to load flat files into the DB." -from the above link.

    <<Have any of the problem NEF files been written to by the Nikon browser program?  I vaguely recall in the Windows Forum doing so resulted in files that had difficulty being written to.>>
    A good idea, but I don't use Nikon software at all anymore.
    I had this problem even during the pre-release, and it is occurring on more than one computer, so I doubt a "system failure." Given that the images are being used on more than one computer (locally, not over a network), and the problem is occurring on more than one computer, I initially thought that there was a problem with the NEFs themselves or the XMP (Photo Mechanic?), but that is now clearly not the case.  As I mentioned earlier, it is also intermittent, and not frequent, and it might be for 1 or 2 images out of hundreds. (We've been processing several thousand images.) Clearing the cache for those specific images fixes the problem for those images. Purging the entire cache does as well. Opening the image in ACR, making changes so that the XMP gets re-written does not fix the problem.  It really seems to be an infrequent but recurrent problem with the central cache.  I still don't know how to trigger the problem, or how to identify which images might show the problem.

    Mr Prakash,
    Why are you asking this question multiple times in every forum you can spell?
    Valid responses have been presented to you already two times.
    Can you explain why you can't follow them up, but continue to abuse this forum by repeating doc questions?
