Impressionist Filter (Plug in?)

I'm looking for an artistic filter that gives an Impressionist painting effect. Searched the Forum knowledgebase and found one entry by Terri Foster referring to a plugin from www.trimoon.com/html/down . When I tried to go to that site, I got an inaccessible page message.
Anyone know of such a filter; and/or how to access the inaccessible page. Or where else can I find such a filter?
I have seen the Impressionist filter discussed in relation to Ulead PhotoImpact, but not too many other places. Would hate to have to buy the whole Ulead program for just this one thing.

Al,
I found a couple really good threads about using the Impressionist plugin while lurking about Retouch Pro.
Edited because I posted wrong thread on one of these:
first thread
second thread
another thread but I haven't read through this one yet

  • Building Filter Plug In UI Components

    Hello,
    I am a developer with background of developing After Effects Plug In's.
    I would like to develop a Plug In for Photoshop - Filter Plug In.
    I was wondering which componentes of the UI does the Photoshop SDK provides.
    I am interested in a simple UI:
    Sliders.
    Checkbox.
    Drop Down Lists.
    Preview.
    Zommed In Preview.
    Namely, functionality just like the built it Gaussian Blur would be OK by me.
    Does the SDK provide all that just as easy it is provided in After Effects or do I have to use a special UI library for that?
    Thank you.

    Tom,
    How could we ask for a feature to have somekind of built in GUI for Plug Ins?
    Something really simple as in After Effects.
    Displaying the result on the main image, having Sliders / Checkboxes / Drop Down List on the right.
    Something like you have for the Properties Panel for Adjustment Layer or Even things as simle as we have in Gaussian Blur Filter.
    Something even better would be something like the Blur Gallery.
    Thanks.

  • How to get the RGB Working Space from within a Filter Plug-In?

    Within my Filter Plug-In I need to access the image's icc profile data. I know this can be accomplished with the according data structure 'iCCprofileData'. But what if there is no profile assigned to the image? Then iCCprofileData is NULL and the default should apply which is the 'RGB Working Space' (assuming the Plug-In works in RGB mode only, what it does). But how can I get to know what the 'RGB Working Space' is from within my Plug-In?

    As far as I know, the profile provided to the plugin API should never be NULL. If the image is not color managed, it still should have the working space profile in the ICCProfileData field.

  • Combination file format and filter plug-in?

    I am working with a file format plug-in. After reading in an image, I want to apply a filter to it. Is it possible to apply the filter from within the file format plug-in?
    Alternatively, is there a means by which one plug-in can start another plug-in?

    You will need to control this all via an automation plug-in. You will need three plug-ins.
    1. The automation plug-in (AMP) will be a listener plug-in and 'listen' for eventOpen with your file format as the class. These needs to happen at Photoshop launch. (See Listener example)
    2. User will open your file and your file format plug-in will run.
    3. Your AMP will get called with the 'eventOpen' 'classMyPlugIn' or whatever you set up.
    4. AMP will now call your filter plug-in.

  • Filter plug-in doesn't show up in photoshop CC

    Hello,
    I've been trying to install several filter plug-ins for Photoshop cc (Mac OS) and the installation through extension manager seems to have worked, but the filters just won't show up in the program. I restarted it a couple of times but the extensions just won't show up. I figured the plug-ins didn't go into the photoshop plug-in file after installing them, but it's not like I could've chosen how and where the extension manager puts them. This is confusing. What can I do?
    Thanks!

    Please read the Where To Find it information for each add-on that you install also, because this explains where to find the filters after installation. The quickest way to access that information for each add-on you have downloaded is at this page: https://creative.adobe.com/addons/my_addons

  • Best Soft Filter Plug In

    I'm a pro photographer and looking for a really good soft focus filter plug in to CS3. There's a lot out there but need one that is being actively used regularly by a photographer preferably.
    Thanks for your help.

    Darren,
    You don't need a plugin for simple things. Try this: Have an image open. copy the image to a new layer, blur this layer and reduce the opacity to taste.
    If it's a Raw file, then the latest version of Adobe Camera Raw offers negative Clarity wich resembles it.
    Either that, or pull a nylon stocking over the lens.

  • I lost my filter plug ins when I install Elements 13.  If I choose one plug in in Preferences it installs it.  But if I try to choose another one it just replaces the first one.  How do I install multiple filter plug ins?

    I lost my filter plug ins when I installed Elements 13, i.e. Topaz Labs, Nik.  If  choose one plugin in preferences it will add it to the filter list.  But if I try to add another filter it just replaces the first one.
    How can I get my multiple plugins back?

    Sorry to jump on this thread, but it seems like I have a similar problem. Oh. BTW, Happy New Year!
    I have filters from Topaz, Imagenomic, ePaperPress, and Redfield. In the past when a new version of PSE came out, I just copied and pasted the folders w/ the ".8bf" files into the Plug-Ins folder of the new version. This time it didn't work.
    I have been searching for a clue. I came across a confusing comment in a post from some Adobe gal [that has been linked multiple times. It said:
    "Please click on Photoshop Elements in the top left corner and select 'Preferences'." The confusing thing about this is that I have no "Photoshop Elements" in the top left corner! As this is the first step, I'm stuck there...
    Here is what I see in the upper-left corner:
    When I click on the Elements 13 Logo, I get a small drop-down menu that has no "Preferences" option. I have versions of PSE back to 10 and none of them have "Photoshop Elements" in the top-left corner.
    BTW, I'm running Win 7 Home 64.
    I noticed that PSE 13 loaded into my Program Files folder, whereas all previous versions went to my Program Files (x86) folder. That indicates that 13 is running as a 64-bit app? Does that require different plugins?

  • GRADUATED Filter Plug Ins.

    Can anyone tell me if there is a third party software supplier that does GRADUATED Filter Plug Ins for iMovie HD6. I want to be able to improve washed out skies by darkening them, like where the TV people use a graduated filter (e.g. the Cokin filter holder set) over the camera lens. I know there are plug effects that can change the appearance of clips but they cover the whole area, not graduated from top to bottom. The company Cf/x do just what I want but theirs don't work on Intel Macs and I don't want to play around with my iMovie with conversion things like Apple's Rosetta.
    I've also tried GeeThree but they don't seem to have a Graduated Filter plug in.
    Any suggestions much appreciated.

    This is my list on Plug-ins
    *Stupendous software*

  • Photoshop Elements 11 filter plug-ins

    Hi,
    I've seen in PSE documentation that it supports filter plug-ins (see http://helpx.adobe.com/pdf/photoshop-elements_reference.pdf page 57) but I can't find the documentation related to plug-in development anywhere. It's not part of Photoshop SDK, or if so, I must have missed it.
    I already have a working Photoshop CS6 filter plug-in and I'd like to see how much work it would be to port it to PSE 11

    Hi 99jon,
    I can't see any document related to plug-in development on Adobe Exchange's website. I found documentation on how to publish a plugin to Adobe Exchange, as well as how to use Exchange to install/try/buy plugins, but nothing about plug-in development.
    Again, to be sure I've been clear, I've already developed a Photoshop CS6 filter plug-in, I'm just wondering what would be the cost to port it to Photoshop Elements, so I'm looking for a sort of equivalent of the Photoshop CS6 SDK with html/pdf documentation on how to write a PSE plugin.
    Thanks!

  • Filter plug-in: How to mix my RGB image with source document image properly?

    Hi All,
    My problem seems to be very common, but I can't find any answers in documentation.
    I made Filter plug-in. It composes RGB image and mixes it with user source image in the document.
    Now I load FilterRecord->
    inData to byte array and recode each pixel with HostCSConvertColor function.
    My code looks like that:
      byte
    *input = (byte*)filter_record->inData;
      int
    width = filter_record->inRect.right - filter_record->inRect.left;
      int height = filter_record->inRect.bottom - filter_record->inRect.top;
      byte
    *transfer_buffer;
      int size = width * height * 4;
      transfer_buffer = new byte[size];
      byte *output = transfer_buffer;
      int
    planes = CSPlanesFromMode(fpb->imageMode, 3);
      int16 color[4];
      for(j = 0; j < height; j++)  {
        for(i = 0; i < width; i++)    {
          for(k = 0; k < planes; k++)      {
            color[k] = input[i * align + k];      }
          HostCSConvertColor(filter_record->colorServices, space, plugIncolorServicesRGBSpace, color);      *
    output = (byte)color[0]; output++;      *
    output = (byte)color[1]; output++;      *
    output = (byte)color[2]; output++;      *
    output = 255; output++;    }
    // for width
        input += line;
      } // for height
    After that I mix my RGB image with output buffer and make back transition via
    HostCSConvertColor to the document Color Space.It works very slow and looks ugly.
    But I can't find any other way to mix my RGB image with photoshop image which can be not RGB Color Mode.
    Your help will be very appreciated.
    Sofia

    Is it important to you to be able to process input color spaces other than RGB?
    You can limit your filter to accept only RGB data if you set things up properly in the PiPL resource (e.g., yourfiltername.r file).
    Here's an example for a filter that accepts only RGB or grayscale images:
    SupportedModes
    noBitmap,
    doesSupportGrayScale,
    noIndexedColor,
    doesSupportRGBColor,
    noCMYKColor,
    noHSLColor,
    noHSBColor,
    noMultichannel,
    noDuotone,
    noLABColor
    EnableInfo { "in (PSHOP_ImageMode, RGBMode, GrayScaleMode, RGB48Mode, Gray16Mode, RGB96Mode, Gray32Mode)" },
    With the above, the filter will be disabled (grayed-out in the menu) for modes other than those listed.

  • How to save the "void * inData " in filter plug-in to a file?

    In a filter plug-in, we want to save the image data "void * inData " to a new image file. How to do it?
    Thanks a lot.

    On the other hand,
    http://www.fortunecity.com/skyscraper/windows/364/bmpffrmt.html
    includes vital information missing in the other reference. This is
    more accessible and the section "The pixel data" is vital. However,
    when it says "The first byte represents the red part, the second the
    green and the third the blue part", this is simply wrong. Caveat
    emptor.

  • How to open and write to a new document from a filter plug in?

    Hi. I'm new to writing photoshop plug in. I would like to copy a small area of the current image, open a new document, and paste the area into the new document. All this is done in photoshop only.
    I am currently using the "Dissolve" filter to do my study, and i can't find the way to create a new document.
    I found a reply by Tom Ruark, mentioning using an automation plug in.
    Can someone please point out to me which functions, and parameters, to study?
    And are there any sample projects that do this?
    Many thanks.
    Regards,
    Yong

    You don't do that from a filter plugin. A filter plugin can only filter existing data.
    Yes, you would need a script or an automation plugin to create a new document.
    You might want to read the SDK about what the various types of plugins can do.

  • FFT/IFFT filter Plug-In

    Hi All.
    I tried to use in Photoshop CS4 64-bit FFT Plug-In to remove paper texture. I follow instructions from this site:
    http://retouchpro.com/tutorials/index.php?m=show&id=185
    But in the result I got image look like image with very low opacity and paper texture didn't gone. What is a problem?
    Thanks.

    This where i got the plugin to test for your post:
    http://www.retouchpro.com/forums/software/33084-here-fft-64-bit-photoshop.html
    See if this works:
    1. After you open your image go to Image>Duplicate
    2. Go to Layer>Flatten Image
    3. After running the FFT RGB filter, select the Red channel
    4. I don't know how the fullsize image looks, but in the section you posted, it really doesn't have any stars except for in the center, so i
       painted out the lines except for the center star.
    5. Select the RGB (composite channel) and run the IFFT RGB filter

  • Graduated Filter plug-in

    I use iMovie HD 6 on my 2013 (Mountain Lion) iMac and it works perfectly, iMove HD 6 having been transferred from my old eMac.
    I've been searching everywhere for an iMovie HD plug-in that would produce the effect of a graduated filter - i.e. to improve blank/white skies.

    I've tried them all but none could help me.  The company cf/x. have got what I'm looking for but are not compatible with later Intel Macs.  I think it's the same situation with Stupendous Soft software.  GeeThree have told me there's nothing like that in their range.
    Is there anyone out there who can help me.
