I uninstalled Photoshop CS6 Beta improperly by dragging to trash and now cannot download or instal CS6 Photoshop. What can I do to get rid of CS6 Beta app files on the system?

I installed Photoshop CS6 beta on my Mac, OS 10.6.8. Once I purchased and went to install CS6, the installer informed me to uninstall the beta version of Photoshop, but didn't say how, or that there was a catch. I went and uninstalled Photoshop CS6 beta bny dragging it to the trash. OOPS! - now the release version won't install, and I can't find anyhting on the Adobe website other than private messages from Adobe employees to specific users with the same problem as to how to rectify the issue.
Aside from venting my frustration at a situation I (and others have found ourselves in that could have been prevented by a little better planning and installer design, I'd really appreciate help in rectifying this state of affairs. It looks from other Forum posts like there is a tool or procedure that cvan be used to make the install work. Thanks in advance -

CS6 Beta Uninstall difficulties

Hi all, I have read all the associated forum posts and still have no answer.
My Photoshop CS6 BETA has updated and so I need to uninstall it before proceeding.
It is not listed in my add remove programs and I can not see it with my CCleaner either.
If I go to the directory there is no set up file nor uninstall file anywhere.
Please help.

If it is not in the uninstall directory you will probalby have to use the Adobe Script Cleaner to remove it.

CS6 beta uninstall issues.

I'm running OS 10.6.8 SL on my mac and have enjoyed using CS6 beta but I'm receiving mulitiple error messages upon trying to uninstall. There are apparently some missing or corrupt files per the error messages. The error messages suggested using the creative suite cleaner tool or contacting support. It appears the cleaner tool suggested is for CS5 only. Any suggestions so I don't have to drag all the files into the trash? I realize that could mess up my system for any future adobe installs but I need to get this beta version off quickly before I purchase. Thanks in advance.

PS 6 Public Beta Uninstall Problem

I was running PS 6 Beta on a win 7 64 laptop. Hadnt used it in a long time but am now traveling and needed to install my licensed version.
Tried to uninstall through Control Panel but was told that AAM needed to be installed. Tried to install AAM and was told that it couldn't initialize which may be due to a missing file and to install Adobe Support Adviser which in turn tells me that cpsid_83578r3: Error, Validate License at Pre-Chrome when installing Creative Suite 5. I don't understand the error, I have a licensed version of PS5 that runs just fine and am trying to uninstall PS 6 Beta. I have also tried running the cleaner tool also without success.
Any suggestions gladly received.

After Safari Beta Uninstall, No Apps Launch

So, I decided to uninstall Safari 3 Beta as it was taking up way too much memory (i'm currently trying to find out why my system in general uses too much memory), and after downloading and running the uninstaller, my computer restarted as normal. Except now, no applications will launch. Everything in the dock bounces once and stops. Any apps I open from the desktop appear in the dock for a half second and then dissappear. I booted from the grey discs that come with the system (MacBook) and repaired the permissions and the disk. All I can think of is a clean install...any ideas?

When repairing permissions, it's best to use Disk Utility from your start up volume (HD) rather than the Installer Disk that came with your system, as the Install Disk will be a version of OS X different than 10.4.10. Go to the Utilities folder>Disk Utility and repair the permissions again.
While there, after permissions are repaired, same panel, select "verify disk" on the opposite side. Do any errors appear?

How much memory does your machine have? If not sure, go to the Apple Menu>About this Mac and select it. The panel that appears shows the amount of memory. When you say "too much memory", on what are you basing your observation?

Crystal Reports for VS2010 Beta Uninstall

When trying to install the release version for Visual Studio 2010 I was prompted that the beta version was still installed. I attempted to uninstall the beta version using Add/Remove Programs but nothing would happen when I tried this...I just got an hour glass for a few seconds and then it went back to the default. After reading through another thread I did the following:
- Deleted the "SAP Business Objects" folder from Program Files
- Deleted the registry folder: HKLM\Software\SAP Business Objects
- Deleted the registry folder: KCU\Software\SAP Business Objects
- Looked for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall{2D87DD11-EAE0-4F05-BF92-A96A7CDC186B} to delete it but did not find this specific item.
After doing the above I was able to successfully install the release version of Crystal Reports for Visual Studio 2010 but when I went to add a Crystal Report Viewer control to my form I noticed the control version was still 14.0.2.
What else do I need to do to get rid of any trace of the beta version?

[Process Monitor|http://technet.microsoft.com/en-ca/sysinternals/bb896645.aspx] may tell you what of the Beta is being found while installing crvs2010 release. Also, check the install logs under C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\Crystal Reports for .NET Framework 4.0\...

Why did F4 beta uninstall itself after I put MacBook to sleep and had to be rebooted from the disc image?

I put my MacBook to sleep with Firefox 4 beta open and when I went to use it again it had vanished. My spotlight search yielded v. 3.6 and the v.4 beta installation file (.dmg). I opened v. 3.6 and declined to transfer v4 Add-ons . All tabs that were opened on v.4 beta opened on v. 3.6. I closed 3.6 and reinstalled v.4 beta from the disc image. I was warned to replace previous version (3.6) - which I did. V4 beta installed intact (bookmarks, add-ons, history etc.) but I lost my open tabs. My only concern is that I was required to replace v. 3.6 and don't want to risk losing bookmarks and history if v. 4 proves unstable. I am otherwise pleased with the new look and performance.

Assuming that nothing is pressing on the Home button when this occurs, try the basic steps as needed:
1. Reset phone - press both home and sleep/wake buttons until the Apple logo appears.
2. Restore phone in iTunes using a backup
3. Restore in iTunes as new, without using a backup.
If #3 doesn't help, there is a hardware problem such as a defective home button, and you should make an appt. with an Apple Store Genius bar.

Messages beta, does not connect to Internet when trying to use uninstall, but I clearly am on the internet, any ideas?

I downloaded messages beta, and after trying video chat with my wife who was using iChat, I decided to uninstall, and every time I try to uninstall, I get a network problem saying that the messages beta uninstalled can't be downloaded as my computer isn't connected to the Internet, and I clearly am connected thru my wifi, any ideas how to get around this?

Any version of iChat or the Message beta will have issues if you have two connections to the internet.
In fact iChat 4 in Leopard has the worst issues particularly if the computer you are on is Sharing the Internet with other devices (See System Preferences > Sharing > Internet Sharing)
iChat can just about manage in Text Chats to connect with other people.
In Video Chats and Audio Only chats and Screen Sharing ichat needs to be in "One Place"
With two IPs issued from a router for Wifi and Ethernet (See the differences in System Preferences > Network for Ethernet and Advanced Button > TCP tab for Wifi) means that iChat looks like it is in two places.
It is worse if you share the Wifi of a neighbour and use Ethernet yourself.
Using Ethernet may get your computer to access the DNS servers from your router more consistently so that Messages can find the place to download iChat 6 (There is evidence that both downloading Messages Beta and registering the Apple ID needs the correct or adequate DNS server info to work properly)

Safari4.0 Beta will not allow internet access

I lost all ability to wirelessly connect to internet after I installed Safari4.0 Beta. Tried to uninstall and it will not allow me to uninstall 4.0 Beta. It asks where to install program, only offers choice of HD and then says it cannot install there. Vicious circle here.

I also have Uninstall. Yet when I open to uninstall to restore previous copy of Safari, a window comes up "Select a destination volume to install the Safari 4 Beta Uninstall software." It only shows the Macintosh HD. When I click on ot the bottom of the window says "You cannot install Safari 4 Beta Uninstall on this volume. This volume does not contain a restorable version of Safari."
So now I am really stuck.
My email also cannot connect. All worked before I downloaded this Safari.

Installing Final over beta 3.2...or not?

I have not found a mention in the online LR3 directions or in the beta forum for installing when the beta 3.2 is in place.
Is the beta uninstalled before installing this final version?
Also, is the Acr 6.1 version installed after installing Lr3 final.

Looks like it was not very clear.
The workflow will have to change a little between Cs4 and Lr3 if Acr6.1 is installed. I have become accustomed to having the tif 'edit' return and be a record in Lr3 so I'll think about that
Yo cannot use ACR 6.1 with PC SC4. If you set up CS4 as an external editor, LR will first create the TIFF before sending to PS. So there's no problem here - you'll have you TIFF edited in PS and inside LR catalog anyway.
Basically in CS4 I just do a final sharpening using a LAB action and perhaps saving that tif as a potential print or a copy is resized for a web jpg so it seems a bit much to upgrade for a minimal use. I'll check out Cs5 and acess the 'need or want'
There's not point in doing this. Lightroom now has arguably the best sharpening and it also does sharpen in the Luminosity channel only. Of course, if you like sharpeniong with masks and lots brushing, you'll still need Photoshop and you huge TIFFs.
As for keeping duplicates for printing and web, that's no a good idea either. You can always export for web or printing from Lightroom, then use and trash the exported files. That will save you tons of disk space.

The issue is only on my iMac 27-inch, Late 2013 3.4 GHz Intel Core i5 8GB 1600 MHz DDR3 NVIDIA GeForce GTX 775M 2048 MB running OSX Mavericks 10.9.5
I have a full creative cloud monthly subscription
Every other program I use (Photoshop, Premiere, Media Encoder, Bridge, etc) works just fine
I have removed / refreshed AE preferences by both cmd + alt + shift start and also by deleting directories
preferences folder has both read + write permission for my osx account which is admin
I have UNINSTALLED and reinstalled After Effects 5 or 6 times including using the Creative Cloud gear option next to AE as well as manually via the uninstall app in the program folder.
I have tried installing AE CC (pre 2014) and it does not work either
I have tried removing EVERY plugin from library media core and doing so does not fix the problem.
Mediacore DOES initialize every time I try load after effects,
I can get to the point that After Effects loads, I have just a couple of seconds to make a menu selection and open a dialog such as preferences, in which I have time to change any preference. When I hit okay... I get the error above I posted in the beginning of the post. If I have the preferences dialog box open and do not exit it I will not get the error, but of course I can't use AE when in that dialog box. If I let AE load and just wait and not touch anything... I will get the same error after a few seconds.
After Effects CC 2014 DID WORK on this machine before the CC2014.1 update.
How do I believe this happened?
During the AE CC2014.1 update CC app showed AE frozen at 99% of install for over 30 minutes... I had some other issues and had to shut down the computer...
when booting back up I had no need to run AE but since I had to shutdown at a 99% install I figure I better uninstall and reinstall.
CC had a hard time reinstalling AE, it took a couple of times but eventually it did a full install of AE... A few days later I needed to use AE, then I get this error.
I repeat... AE WORKED before this CC2014.1 update.. and even rolling back to CC2014 or CC no longer works either.
I need help resolving this Adobe Team...
AE works on my macbook pro with the exact same programs, setup, and plugins as the iMac.
I need help fixing this please.

every time I reinstall AE, for whatever reason.. it takes nearly 30 minutes and gets hung up at 99% for at least 15 minutes before completing the install... just so you know.. this does not seem normal.. it shouldn't take that long to install.. same situation for uninstalling.. takes forever.

I have THOROUGHLY exhausting all the options I could fine online short of wiping Adobe off the iMAC completely which I am NOT wanting to do ... less the other apps that do work stop working or something crazy like that.

I reused the Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to remove all traces of AE again.

HOWTO: install Windows 7 RC in BootCamp via XP using Parallels 4.0 in SL

I know, the subject sounds pretty complicated, but don’t worry: the process of doing it is even worse.
Basically the main idea was to be able to use the same BootCamp partition of WinXP to upgrade to Win7, using the win7 .iso image to install it (I was simply to lazy to go to a shop and buy a rewritable DVD). Still, during my days <!> of tests and investigations few things came out. This can be useful even if one wants just to create a Win7 Parallels virtual machine from an already present BootCamp installation, make a Windows installation using BootCamp or for general knowledge. So let’s start.
*GOLDEN RULE*:
Disable (or even better, uninstall) any 3rd party NTFS package like Paragon NTFS (beta) NTFS-3G, NTFSmount or else. This caused me many problems since it seemed that Parallels and those packages were conflicting on the NTFS ownership of the BootCamp partition. Don't forget to reboot after that.
*INITIAL SETUP*:
Have Parallels 4.0 cleanly installed
Partition your hard disk with Boot Camp Assistant. Reserve at least 15GB for Windows. This will create a 2nd FAT32 partition called “BOOTCAMP”
Insert a WinXP SP2 install CD/DVD in the DVD drive
Go back to Boot Camp Assistant and click “restart”
*INSTALLING WINDOWS XP:*
The system will reboot from the WinXP install disk
Let the installer do its job (loading drivers)
The screen to chose on which partition to install Windows would appear.
Here is the first trick. Boot Camp Assistant actually created 2 more partitions. An empty one of about 100 MB, and the FAT32 one. RESIST from the temptation of deleting the FAT32 partition to then format the available disk space as NTFS or to convert it into NTFS. Instead SELECT the FAT32 partition. This will take us to a next screen were will be able to format it. Select “Format as NTFS” and go. It may be better to use the FULL format, but I’m not sure it’s necessary.
Not doing as above will produce at a certain point the infamous
“hal.dll missing or corrupted message”.
which I can assure you is very much frustrating since we get it only at the end of the installation.
The installation will then continue. Follow all steps as required until you have a full Windows XP installation.
Reboot and press the Option key (alt). Select the Windows partition to check that WinXP is actually cleanly installed. No need to install BootCamp device drivers at this point.
*CREATE THE PARALLELS WINDOWS XP VIRTUAL MACHINE (VM).*
Reboot as OSX.
Check in Finder or Disk Utility that the NTFS partition is present and readable.
Start Parallels Desktop
Go to File/New Virtual Machine and follow the steps to create a Windows XP virtual machine.
Choose custom setting to tell Parallels to use the BootCamp partition
Once the VM file will be create Parallels will start the BootCamp Configurator (a 4 steps very long process) to “convert” the BootCamp partition into a VM.
At the end it will install the Parallels tools as well
Let the WinXP VM start
Shut WinXP down and close its VM window
*UPGRADE THE WINXP PARTITION TO WIN7*
Here is the second trick, and this has been a pretty nasty one. Actually the Parallels BootCamp configurator seems to mess up with the BootCamp partition when creating a Win7 VM. Parallels when trying to access the BootCamp partition during the process of creating the new Win7 VM reports a message:
“A disk configuration error has occurred. Make sure that you have read/write permissions for the disk”
Even being able to pass after that error, and having Win7 installation starting, Win7 may report
Error code ox80070057
When trying to access/format the BootCamp partition.
The solution to these problems appears to be in the BootCamp Configurator, as I’ve found in the Parallels forum:

Open the Terminal application and type:
sudo mv /Library/Parallels/Parallels\ Service.app/Contents/MacOS/BootcampConfigurator /Library/Parallels/Parallels\ Service.app/Contents/MacOS/BootcampConfigurator.old
Now the environment should be ready. So follow these steps:
Create a new Win7 VM in Parallels (File/New Virtual Machine)
Use as DVD drive the Win7 RC installation image. This will automatically select a Windows 7 environment in Parallels
Change the boot order having the CD/DVD-ROM first and Hard Disk 1 second
Use the BootCamp partition as VM and create it
The VM will start loading the Win7 installer. Select your local setting, a screen to chose the partition will appear, select the NTFS partition (BootCamp with WinXP on it). The installer will move the old WinXP files in C:\WINDOWS.old and continue with the installation.
Once the installation is complete do the following:
Start Windows 7 in Parallels to check that it is functional
Install Parallels Tools if you like
Shutdown the VM.
Shutdown OSX.
Press the power button and hold Option key at the chime sound
Boot from the Windows disk
Windows 7 should start booting. Don’t worry if it will take a long time. Personally it takes to me something like 30 s. with the blinking cursor before to see the graphical Windows 7 screen
Insert the Snow Leopard install DVD.
Open the Bootcamp folder and Double click on setup.exe to install the BootCamp device drivers.
If it says that your computer is not compatible do as follow:
Locate the Command Prompt app in the Start/All Programs/Accessories menu
Right click on it and start it as administrator
At the DOS prompt:
Select your DVD drive (D: or whatever)
Type
cd \BootCamp3.0\Drivers\Apple
Execute BootCamp.msi or BootCamp64.msi depending if your Win7 installation is 32 or 64 bits (yes, it works in EFI32 Macs as well. Not like SL K64 apparently).
You will be required to reboot.
Restart Windows 7 and enjoy!
PS: This is not intended to be a tutorial about the best way of installing Windows 7 in a Mac. I know a much easier solution is to burn a DVD and do the installation from it using BootCamp assistant. Still doing so one may (will?) face some of the problems described above. It’s just a description about how the Windows 7 installation can be done in the hard way, with hints about common problems installing Windows with BootCamp and the loading it into Parallels. I hope it will be useful for anyone. I just wished there was a similar tutorial when I started this mess!!
