Improved Export for CS4?

Hi there,
Can anyone help, i downloaded an update to enabled improved export for fireworks CS4 when exporting to CSS etc
Unfortunately my pc has crashed...
Its not an offcial adobe update, if i remember correctly you have to download a few files and place them into a directory off of fireworks cs4..
I am not sure if its by JIM Babbage??
If fixes a few issues when exporting - its was called Extended Export or something like that..
Can anyone help or job my memory?
Thanks

I did not create it. The enhanced CSS and Images export was deisgned by Matt Stow:

  • Flash Video exporter for CS 4

Is there a flash video Exporter for CS4 on a Mac and if so where can I download this?

    Jeff

Thanks for getting back so quickly,
Here is my problem. I have 2 Macs, a desktop and a laptop. The laptop
running Tiger (operating system) and Adobe CS3 which is fine for
conversion through Quicktime to .flv but on my desktop which is
running Leopard (OS) and Adobe CS4 I cannot do this type of conversion
without going into Adobe flash encoder which requires 1 more step.
I looked up Flash video exporter on the Adobe site (see link below)
and this component is only available for CS3. I want to know if it is
available for CS4 and for Mac.

  • Exporting for web on CS4

Can any one help? I am currently creating video using CS4 for an online world and using a compressor seperatly before uploading the video but i wondered if it was possible to export a video using CS4 straight for web use. compressed but not pixelated and a relatitvely low file size (15mb for 2-3min videos?!) i would like to speed up the process and have better looking video and not have to use the external compressor. Look forward to hearing back from anybody!

    Welcome to the forum.
Exporting for the Web is often dependent on the method of playback that the Web page's designer has used.
My first stop would be with the designer, as they can tell you what their page requires. Might be FLV for an embedded Flash player, or MOV (or variant) for an embedded QT player. That will point you in the right direction.
    Good luck,

  • InDesign CS4 crashes when I export for epubs

Every time I choose "Export book for digital editions...." in the book menu, the program sometimes (but not always) exports to the epub format -- but then InDesign crashes and closes.  Sometimes there is an epub saved; sometimes there is not.
This is the error message I get:  "Runtime error:  R6025 - pure virtual function call".  Makes no sense to me, and it happens every time, no matter what other programs I do or do not have open.
I'm running Win XP SP3 and have plenty of memory.
    Thanks.

Good morning (for me, at least). OK, let's try to catch up.
I am still not 100% clear what your actual problem is. Perhaps you can start by restating it clearly and unambiguously.
    Has it changed since June?
You might post a screenshot of the way you have the TOC set up.
But the first step is to figure out if it happens with a brand new document that is untainted by your existing document. Perhaps something in your current document is making InDesign misbehave. So make sure that TOC export works right from a fresh document.
After that, then the task is to figure out what about your document is causing the problem. Exporting to IDML is a good step to clearing corruption, but is not 100% definitive. But if it works, great. Other steps including using the Pages (panel) > Move Pages function to move pages between documents, and also exporting individual stories to InDesign Tagged Text and then re-importing them into new documents. You can also export some items as snippets, though this is likely to have the same effect as IDML, but somewhat more self-contained (think "IDML Export of this page only.")
In short, this is Divide and Conquer. The problem could be in a story, in a style, on a page, in an image, etc., etc.
Additionally, you might want to consider ponying up $40 and engaging Adobe Support: http://adobe.com/go/supportportal.
Unfortunately support for CS4 is somewhat waning (it is 3 versions old!), and Adobe Support is not always stellar at solving problems quickly. Still, they are an option to consider.
Also, I'm definitely not an EPUB person. Hopefully when you post the details of what exactly you're doing some of the EPUB folks will still be paying attention to this thread and can point out any obvious issues they are aware if ("Hey! It's a known bug if you use the letter é in your EPUB TOC! Just remove it and you're good!" or whatever).
    You ask:
Do you know what I can do to fix the stack problem?  Is that an Adobe problem or a Windows problem?  I'm waaay beyond the limits of my expertise here.
It's not a "problem" per se -- the stack is a data structure that stores state about functions calls made by programs. Under normal circumstances, when a program crashes -- that is, when the operating system detects that a program has done something it should never do, such as tried to access a region of memory that does not belong to it, the operating system forcibly terminates the program -- the stack reflects information about the function that was currently executing, and the function that called it, and the function that called it, etc., etc., typically 20-50 levels deep.
Depending on exactly why the program faulted, sometimes this information is not available. For instance, if the program failure that caused the crash involved corruption on the stack.
Often the stack can give us useful clues about the nature of the crash, and those clues can help us avoid the crash. Simple example: "Oh, this crash is related to the third party extension Frobozz Magic Font! Turn it off!"
I just posted a question about the corrupted stack in the Microsoft forum, and they replied only Adobe can fix it.  It's apparently not a Microsoft problem.
They are, to a first order, correct. When InDesign crashes, it's an Adobe problem. The stack issue is a low-level diagnostic and is unlikely to be a real problem. But certainly no one could fix it without altering the InDesign program, and only Adobe can do that.
I'm getting pretty nervous about this; I have clients screaming for their books, and I'll have to refund some money if this isn't solved.  Whatever you can do would really be appreciated!
I think you need to present us with a lot more information about your problem.
    Precise steps to reproduce it.
Screenshots showing how you have it set up.
Copies of files that exhibit it.
That we can try to reproduce it, see if it is specific to your machine or your document, give recommendations on how you can work around or avoid it, etc.
And seperately, aside from all of those things, is getting the problem fixed. Though if it happens in CS4 and not in CS5.5, well, then it's unlikely that a fix will be forthcoming. Adobe just isn't updating CS4 any more. They're hardly updating CS5 and CS5.5, and CS6 is on the horizon.
Oh, and if you're willing to throw money at the problem, you can look at upgrading. EPUB support has changed dramatically in CS5.5 (for the better, I am told, but I don't speak from personal experience), so it's likely that any problems you saw with it under CS4 will be very very different [and hopefully gone!] in CS5.5.

  • I have a question about the downloads for CS4.

I had to go back to CS4 Master Suite after my card was deactivated, because adobe got hacked and my credit card was compromised. Since I was in the middle of traveling and I'm still in a bad situation, because of it I am still on CS4. Which sucks for my workflow now.
Well, anyway... Sorry, still very frustrated.
When all that happened I had to download CS4 Master Suite from your site, because the disks are not with me. Photoshop continuously shutdown on me. If I attempt to move a layer up or down in the layers panel it froze and shutdown every freaking time. After Effects and Premier Pro could not export or render anything. Illustrator did what it's supposed to do most of the time. Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, and Premiere Pro are the only programs I use really. They are essential to my freelance work and I have had to turn away projects ever since this whole ordeal started last year.
About a month ago removed CS4 and downloaded Creative Cloud again, because I thought I was in a place were my bank could send me a card. Some how I received another monthly trial and everything was awesome again while I waited for my card. My card didn't come. The trial ended and now I'm right back to not being able to integrate with Cinema 4D and so on. Now that is not your fault. So, I'm not going there.
I did, once again, download the install file for CS4 Master Suite and install the same programs. They are just as problematic as they were the first time I used the .dmg file from your downloads site.
Now I know you are far away from CS4, but that is what I am on until I can get back to the US and get another card, because you don't accept paypal or anything else.
Is there anyway I can get an actual proper working install of CS4. I can work around all the features I lost if I can get a download that actually has everything it's supposed to have in it. I do not pirate software, which is why I went backwards. So, please, please, please, please do something about that .dmg that doesn't have everything need to make the program work properly.
    Thank You,
    From

Your technical issues have zero to do with the installers. Whatever is at play is rooted on your system, but you have not provided any specific system info nor crash logs. Pardon me, but "Photoshop is crashing" is a useful as my 88 year old grandma telling me her phone doesn't work...

  • Which NVIDIA graphics card for CS4 & CS5.5 Premiere?

I just upgraded to CS5.5 Production Premium but I'm still using XP 32bit. That means I had to load the CS4 version of Premiere and After Effects. Sooner or later I'll upgrade to 64bit Win but in the mean time which graphics card will give me the best bang for the buck and still be useful for CS5.5 later? Money isn't an issue, I just don't want to pay for something and not benefit from it. What's worse is Adobe doesn't even list cards newer than the 8800 and Quadro FX for CS4! Weren't GTX cards available before CS5 came out? Do I need to update a file in CS4 apps to make them accept cards for GPU processing?
Adobe and NVIDIA keep pushing the Quadro cards but when you look at the benchmarks it looks like the GTX cards do just as well. I will use the system for gaming sometimes so DX11 is a must. I have a watercooled i7 920 OC @ 4.0GHz and very stable, temps never go above 60C under full load. I have 6GB RAM and use a memory handler to access the RAM over what XP can use, and use it for virtual mem and caches etc. But my current graphics card is a slightly OC'd 9800GT w/512MB. My system doesn't like to scrub video that isn't rendered unless it's at lower resolutions and obviously I'd like rendering to be as fast as possible.
    Looking around I see:
    GTX560-TI @ $240
    GTX570 @ $300
    GTX480 @ $300
    GTX570 @ $300
    GTX580 @ $460
    Quadro 4000 @ $550
    Quadro 5000 @ $1200
So what's the secret? Where's the sweet spot?
    TIA

The "secret" to MPE bliss is to get the video card AND Win7 64bit AND load your CS5.5. I really don't think that the video card would help much running CS4 on 32bit. Regarding which card, I'd say the sweet spot since you want to game and use CS5.5 would be to go with a GTX 480 with two or three fans (single fan reference design is too LOUD). Also, if you are not going to Win7 right away, delay your purchase and the next GEN of NVidia will be closer or out and you may either want one of the new smaller die-size cards or you could benefit form lower prices on what's available today.
    Jim
So you're saying on Win32 and CS4 Pr, Ae, AME, the graphics card doesn't matter at all? That I won't see any improvement over my 512MB 9800GT?
If I was to narrow it down even farther, the most important aspect would be in the "preview" performance. I can always render when I'm not using the system but sometimes the preview windows hang while working on a project. The problem worsens as the resolution increases or as the project gets more complicated. I had the same problem with PP1.5 which is why I decided to bite the bullet and upgrade to see if a newer version would help.
Cooling isn't an issue as long as a water block is available for my next card. I've read the 570 & 580 may be the same reference layout and use the same coolers, I'm still looking into that. I know I can liquid cool the 480, 560TI, 580. I have no idea about the Quadro's, I've never seen a block for those.
I'd like to go to Win64 but other software etc is keeping me from getting there soon. I'm looking into dual booting but have read about lots of problems with folder/file sharing issues when going from XP to Win7. I keep all files/projects on a seperate drive and some are shared over a network. If MS hasn't solved the sharing issues I'm forced to stick with XP. I have too many files that need read/write access and Win7 is stated to set all shares to read only. I'm still researching if it's been resolved.
So it's important to know if anything will help CS4 because as stated above, it'll make more sence to wait for the next gen cards for use in CS5.5.
The bottom line is, I built this system from the ground up just a few years ago before Win64 was so popular. I used the very best components (the 9800GT is actually the lowest componet I bought because gaming wasn't that important at the time). I'm running steady overclocked @ 4.0 and boot from an SSD drive. The data drives are 7200RPM and I bought the fastest RAM I could at the time. Obviously people were editing happily a few years ago on equipment inferior to mine. What's the catch? What am I missing to run smoothly on Win32? I'm assuming it's the graphics card because it's the only place I skimped. Maybe I have a software conflict keeping any version of Pr from working smoothly.
Being 3 gens behind, and mediocre at that, I thought the card might be a good place to start.

  • Upgrade Plug in for CS4 to read raw files

I have  PS4 and just bought a Canon 5d Mark III. PS now won't open my raw files. Can I get an upgrade plug in for CS4 to read these files? Thanks

First you need to determine whether Adobe has released support for your new camera in Photoshop CS4.  To do that look at these two pages.  You'll want to find out the earliest version of Camera Raw that can support your camera, then what version of Photoshop can run that version of Camera Raw.
Camera Raw plug-in | Supported cameras
    Camera Raw-compatible Adobe applications
In your case, your 5D Mark III was first supported by Camera Raw version 6.7.  And we see that Camera Raw 6.7 was supported by Photoshop CS5, not Photoshop CS4 - so you cannot get direct raw support for your version of Photoshop.
However, you CAN download and install the latest version of the free Adobe DNG Converter, which can take your raw files as input and put out DNG format files, which your version of Photoshop can open.
Photoshop Help | Digital Negative (DNG)
The DNG converter DOES work, but if you want maximal quality from your raw files (not to mention the convenience and ease of use of directly opening your CR2 files) I recommend upgrading to Photoshop CS6 or newer.  Adobe made substantial improvements in raw conversion quality in recent years.
Adobe has a nice "Photographer's Bundle" subscription offer going right now.

  • Exporting for Flash Display - Some Tips

There have been many questions on Exporting for Flash playback on the Web. This Adobe ARTICLE might provide some useful tips, and help in the understanding of the various format.
    Hope that this helps,
    Hunt

Because different Adobe NLE's (Non Linear Editors) handle Flash material differently, and some not much at all, one likely source of additional Flash handling would be Moyea. They have several Flash programs, and even offer a Flash Importer for PrPro (prior to CS4). Unfortunately, they do not yet have a plug-in Importer for PrE.

  • Benchmark Results for CS4, attn. Bill Gehrke

    Bill (and others interested),
I have now tweaked my system a bit and done some simple benchmarking to see if I did it right. There is not yet a PPBM+ benchmark available to see how this system fares in comparison to others, but if you make it available for CS4, Bill, I will submit the data.
Anyway, here are the results for the time being:
b PassMark 7.0: 4338,1 (only second place due to Vista 64, which adds a 5-10% performance penalty in comparison to XP-32).
    b Cinebench R10: 5670 single CPU / 22338 multi CPU / 5154 OpenGL.
    b HDTach 3.0.4 long (32 MB): Single disk burst 233 / Avg 99, 2 disk raid0 burst 4275 / Avg 177, 8 disk raid30 burst 1045 / Avg 671.
This is a budget system with i7-920 @ 4.0 GHz, 12 GB RAM, ATI 4870 video, 150 GB boot Velociraptor, 2 TB Raid0 for pagefile/scratch, 2 x single disk 1 TB for audio, stock footage and export, and 8 TB Raid30 for media (Areca-ARC 1680iX-12 with 2 GB cache and BBM) plus 2 BR burners.
Bill, how are you coming along on the PPBM+ CS4 version?

Agreed up to a point. The raid controller, cache memory and BBM, which I would have wanted for any system, be it low budget, mid range or high budget, takes out an enormous heap. I could have gotten four i7 CPU's for that. If you add the disks as well, yes, it does get expensive. However, that investment may well outlive several generations of mobo's and CPU's and gives me your much coveted RAID30 array of effectively 6 TB (8 TB raw) and some more.
In the old days, people used to say that the system you wanted is around $ 5K. Nowadays when you want top-of-the-bill $ 5K is not enough; that is IMO a high budget system. A low budget system IMO at least for NLE is somewhere around $ 1-2K and medium is around the $ 2-4K bracket and anything higher than that is top material. That leaves my system in the medium bracket, nice, but not top-of-the-bill.

    I agree.
    SELECT ticket_no,name_of_the_passenger..
    FROM ticket_master
    WHERE ticket_no NOT IN
    (SELECT Ticket_no
    FROM ticket_cancellations
    WHERE trip_id = my_trip_id);
This involves creating a little temp table for each record in ticket_no. Then full scanning it.
    Change it to
    SELECT ticket_no,name_of_the_passenger..
    FROM ticket_master B
    WHERE ticket_no NOT EXISTS
    (SELECT null
    FROM ticket_cancellations A
    WHERE A.ticket_no = B.ticket_no
    AND trip_id = my_trip_id);
Then you get an index hit in both cases.

Perhaps this has been covered, but I've not found the thread. Most of the export color sync questions seem to revolve around printing or displaying on one's own monitor. Neither is an issue for me. However, I note that my RAW images exported from Aperture 2.0 as jpg's and then uploaded to web sites such as Jalbum and Orkut are washed out. Some forums have suggested this is due to those websites being optimized for sRGB. I understand that Aperture uses a proprietary color sync profile; however, my default EXIF - Expanded shows "Color Model" as simply "RGB", and "Profile Name" is Adobe RGB (1998) (my Canon 50D is set to sRGB). Again, I have seen suggestions on this forum that one can change these settings, but the process appears to be only for printers and monitors. Where/how can I change the export for uploading jpg's to the web.
    Thanks,
    Nick

I understand that Aperture uses a proprietary color sync profile
If the profile were proprietary, it would be an illegal profile under the ICC Specification.
However, I note that my RAW images exported from Aperture 2.0 as jpg's and then uploaded to web sites such as Jalbum and Orkut are washed out.
If you did not disable embedding of an ICC source colour space in Aperture, if you did not use a non-ICC enabled browser, the OS X system level services will set up a ColorWorld and convert the pixels in your JPEGs matching from the ICC source colour space to the ICC destination colour space of your display. Thus you will get what you uploaded in the first place.
I have seen suggestions on this forum that one can change these settings, but the process appears to be only for printers and monitors.
The idea is that each and every colour device is calibrated and that calibration is captured in a colourimetric colour characterisation from which an ICC colour device profile is computed. Colourants that form certain colours one one colour device at one calibration will form other colours in the same colour device at another calibration and in other colour devices at yet other calibrations. By means of device profiles, the COLOURS can be kept constant while the COLOURANTS are recomputed to compel the device to paint the closest possible match it is capable of.
Some forums have suggested this is due to those websites being optimized for sRGB.
The issue is whether people who post pictures do or do not embed ICC source colour spaces into their pictures and whether they pick browsers that are ICC-enabled or pick colour blind browsers.
To determine if there is an embedded ICC source colour space in a picture, download the picture to disk, open iApple Preview and select Tools > Get Info > Summary.
Colour Model: This defines the format or model of the colourants, e.g. three component RGB, four component CMYK.
ColorSync Profile: This defines the ICC source colour space. If there is none in the image file, the system level service assigns the Generic RGB Profile for model RGB, the Generic CMYK Profile for model CMYK and so forth. Therefore, any ICC source colour space than a Generic Profile source colour space is embedded in the image file itself.
In technical terms, the rule is that to construct a ColourWorld that does a colour space conversion through the PCS Profile Connection Space, you have to have an ICC source colour space and an ICC destination colour space (typically your display profile). It follows that the system level service ASSIGNS an ICC source colour space automatically where is none embedded. The ICC source colour space that is assigned when there is none embedded is the Generic RGB Profile for colourant model RGB, as explained.

Please go back two times (arrow left) where you found Mail folder.
Finally, you drag that specific folder manually - Mail folder   into your external hard disk drive.  That's what you wanted for your backup.
