Improving Output in Premiere Elements 12

I have a mpeg movie that I imported to PE12. The quality if very high when I view it on my computer. I've attempted to edit it in PE12, but the quality is drastically reduced in the output. I've tried switching the highest/auto settings and rendering the workspace. Is there any other way to resolve this issue? Why is the quality reduced when going through PE12?
Thanks,
Iris

Hi Steve,
Thanks for helping out here. I've listed the project settings and Gspot details. I would appreciate any suggestions.
Project settings are :
Gspot Details:
I've tried to publish using a variety of settings, but the quality of the original mpeg is much higher than any of the published ones. Are there any changes I could make to the settings or publish/share selection to improve the quality?

  • Bad output from Premiere Elements

I've tried every option but consistently the DVDs burned with my videos from Premiere Elements 11 are out of focus.  this makes this software useless for me.  I'm now using Photoshop Elements to generate slide shows and importing them into another video software to burn onto DVDs.  What's wrong with this software???!!!

The problem isn't just that the resolution isn't as good as the source materials.  It is totally out of focus and looks like a 3-D picture before you put on the glasses.  My premiere 9 worked beautifully but version 11 is awful.  I am still using the same input as I did with version 9, which is mostly photos with some video.  As a matter of fact, most of it is Photoshop elements projects, which should work well with Premiere.
My project settings:  editing mode -- HD 1080i (the default, I think)
              video frame size 1920x1080
What other settings are you're looking for?
For the project I've just been working on, I ended up doing it in Windows movie maker, and I got fine results with much less effort.
I'm about to shop for another video editor.  But I like the richness of options offered by Premiere and its link with elements, so would prefer to stick with it.
    Thanks.

  • Issues with video quality after editing in Premiere Elements.  Please help!!!

I am having issues with the quality of video output from Premiere Elements.  I tried to combine 4 videos clips that I took (all were crystal clear when viewed prior to combining them in Premiere Elements).  The first clip is quite pixelated, the second has wavy lines running across it the whole time (recorded webinar), and the third clip looks crystal clear. (FYI...first clip and third clip were both taken using the exact same settings on my Canon)  I am not very tech "savvy".  I am guessing it has something to do with the way I saved or "shared" the video after editing?  But I have NO IDEA what settings I need as I am not very "tech" savvy!  I want to upload the finished product to Vimeo.  I looked on Vimeo and followed instructions from a tutorial that a Premiere Elements user posted about how to save the best quality video for uploading to Vimeo, and the quality turned out FAR WORSE than the first time I saved it.  Please help!!!  Thanks so much!

Thanks for your response John!  Do you think my issue may be due to the way I initially "set up" the project when I created a new project from the very beginning?  I am operating on Premiere Elements 10, so I do not see an option for sharing online directly to vimeo....only facebook and Youtube.  I am combining 4 video clips.  3 of the 4 clips were shot on my Canon EOS 60D, and 1 of the video clips was a recording of a PowerPoint based webinar that we did via Meeting Burner (meetingburner.com).  Since I am combining more than 1 video format, is it likely that I will run into quality issues?  The strange thing was that 2 of the clips shot with my Canon showed up blurry after exporting/sharing my final video, but one of them was still crystal clear.  This doesn't make any sense to me since I did not change any settings on my Canon.  I didn't see any specific tutorials on setting up the project to match the video from that list of Tutorial links.

  • Premiere Elements 12.1 Update and Known Expert View Styles Issue

The other day Adobe released the Premiere Elements 12.1 Update and encourgaged its use by all. However, little was cited for what the 12.1 Update was supposed to be fixing in Premiere Elements 12, other than "stability and performance" matters.
This morning I was working with Styles in the Expert workspace of Premiere Elements 12.1 and did not run into any problem creating the titles with text and Styles.
Before the 12.1 Update, editing Styles ran into problems in the Expert workspace that forced the user to toggle between Expert and Quick to get the text Style re-editing done.
Please check this out and let us know if you found the same.
If possible, in this thread perhaps each might contribute positive differences, if any, found in updating Premiere Elements 12 to 12.1.
So far, looking good for text with Styles, opening and closing the Tilter in the Expert workspace as well as saving closing reopening the project to the Expert workspace and editing the text Styles.

    Not so.
You apparently have not opened the link to read it. If you had, you would have seen mention of Premiere Elements 12.1 as well.
So, just in case the Adobe link was not opening for you to read it in part or entirely, here is a copy/paste of the relevant information
    Photoshop Elements 12.1 update
The 12.1 update for Adobe Photoshop Elements includes the following enhancements and fixes:
    Revel workflow improvements:
Improved Raw/PSD file upload experience. In version 12.0, Elements creates a JPEG proxy image in the user's catalog for any Raw/PSD files uploaded to Revel. In 12.1, this JPEG proxy file is hidden from the user. Elements creates this proxy file silently on the disk and deletes the file once it is uploaded to Revel. As earlier, the uploaded proxy file is mapped with the Raw/PSD file in Elements. This enhancement ensures that you don't come across duplicate media in the Elements catalog.
Ability to hide a library in your Elements catalog. This functionality comes handy when you want to selectively hide/show media from a friend’s library or one of your own libraries.
In earlier versions of Elements, any file deleted from Revel was automatically deleted from the Elements catalog. You now have additional options to manage such deleted files. You can now opt to delete the media from Revel, but keep it intact in the Elements catalog. You can also choose to delete the media from the Elements catalog as well as the hard disk.
Fixes for some Revel integration issues in version 12.0. Improved performance and integration stability.
    Optimized Revel integration first-launch experience.
Addressed the delay observed in version 12.0 while downloading files to the Elements catalog.
Addressed an issue related to the pressure sensitivity sensor in N-Trig pens included with Sony laptop computers.
Addressed an issue that caused slideshow previews to appear blank in Photoshop Elements 11 and 12.
    Numerous performance and stability improvements.
    Adobe Premiere Elements
The 12.1 update for Adobe Premiere Elements includes the following enhancements and fixes:
Revel workflow improvements mentioned in the Photoshop Elements section above
Addressed an issue related to iPhone 5s slow-motion video upload to Revel
Addressed an issue that caused some music score to end abruptly

  • Premiere Elements 11 is adding a red tint to all the video out create

I have put two clips of .mts video on my timeline.  When I watch the video from the timeline, it looks great.  However, when I output the video (in any format) it has an awful red tint.  I've tried several output options (different version of mpg as well as different version of avchd).  They all have the red tint.
Here is a link to the video.  You can easily see the red tint.  This is not the way the video looks from within Premiere Elements.  Also, I know that Youtube is not the source of the tint, because the tint appears on all the files that I output from Premiere Elements onto my hard drive.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p6zimlsmJdI&feature=youtu.be
What is causing this, and how can I prevent it?

OK. Here are some screenshots that I hope illustrate the issue I'm dealing with.  This first picture shows what the video looks like on the preview screen from within PRE.  The image is taken from my Acer external monitor at home.  Notice the natural looking skin tones.
After creating an .mpg version of the file and saving it on my hard drive and viewing it with Windows Media Player on my Acer external monitor, this second picture shows what the image looks like.  Notice the red tint on the skin.
This third picture shows the same .mpg file as it appears on the built-in screen on my laptop.  Notice that the skin tones look a little more natural, but they still display some red tint.  They definitely don't look as natural as the skin tone in the first picture (as the image appears from the preview screen within PRE).
A few extra notes: I realize that these images may appear differently to other viewers whose monitors will display them differently.  However, I think that comparing the first image in the series with the second two will show a significant change in skin tone.
A second note: When I view the .mpg file on my ViewSonic monitor in my office, the red tint on the skin tone is almost gone.
A third note: Because the ViewSonic external monitor doesn't seem to have the red tint problem, it seems to point to a problem with my Acer external monitor.  However, as the images above show, the built-in screen on my laptop also shows the red tint.  But, more importantly, if the problem is with my Acer external monitor, then I don't understand why it shows such natural skin tones on the image displayed within PRE preview window.
A final note: I attached a screen clip from the image as it appeared on an .mpg file.  However, the same red tint appears on several version of .mpg as well as .mp4 files that I created with PRE.
Thanks for helping me figure this out.

  • How to fix audio  of a video captured from DV output of camcorder using Adobe Premiere Elements 8?

    Hello,
I purchased Adobe Premiere Elements 8 about one week ago.  I installed it and everything seem to work well in my first project.  I am new at editing videos but I was succesful in testing it by loading an existing video file in avi format from my computer and then doing some very basic editing (I splitted 2 scenes and added a title).
After my first succesful project (described above) I started a brand new project. Here, I want to capture a one hour video  from the dv output of a video camera. So I connected the camera to the PC and then started adobe elements 8.  Before starting the capture I only checked the boxes that said "capture video" and "capture audio" (the other 2 boxes that said download to timeline and autoanalyze were left unchecked).  After that I started the capture process.
After the video capture was completed, a small window opened at the bottom saying that a PEAK FILE was being generated.    After the peak file generation finished, I looked at the captured video.  The video looked perfect.  However the audio of the video was too fast. By this, I mean that the voices of the people in the movie were like they were speaking at more than twice the normal speed.  Or to explain it in a different way, they sounded like the  chipmunks.
So now I come to the question of this thread I started.  Is there a way that I can fix the audio part of the video I captured?  I will appreciate any help on this. Below I listed a few additional details in case this is needed.
    Thanks,
    ronel_8
PS.  Here are some more details about my system:
    1) Operating System: Windows XP
    2) I am capturing the video on an external drive with 40 GB of available space. The external drive is connected to a PC via a USB connection.
    3) Computer CPU: 2.4 GHZ
    4) Computer RAM: 1.25 GB
    5) Video tape is about one hour long.

    Hello Bill and Steve,
Your responses are very helpful.  Although I was not able to fix the problem yet I do seem to think from what you both say that my system may be too slow to capture the one hour video. In any case I will copy below more details about the system as you requested:
    1) Results from running Gspot:
The audio section of the Gspot window was blank. That is, no information was there.  The File and Container sections say:
    File Size: 12.6 GB
Note: 7.63 GB unneeded bytes at the end of the file
    DV Type1 AVI
    2) I did run the Gspot on another good avi file (captured to the PC with same camcorder) and says:
    Codec PCM Audio
    32kHz 1024 kb/s tot (2 chnls).
I suppose these are the audio settings from the camera.
    3) Yes, I am capturing video from a miniDV camcorder (JVC GR-D70U).
    4) I did not defragment the external drive prior to capturing the video with the audi problem.  So I will give that I try and see if it solves the problem.
    5) The external drive I am using is formatted to NTFS.
    6) The computer is a Dell Dimension 2400, CPU: 2.4 GHZ, RAM: 1.25 GB
    7) HDD Size=74GB and 11 GB of free space.  But I am downloading video to external drive that has 60 GB free space.
One last piece of information that may be useful.  If I open the AVI file (that I captured with Adobe Premiere Elements) with Windows Media Player, the audi sounds good.  However if I open it with Adobe it has the problem I mentioned in my previous e-mail.
    I'll aprreciate any further hints.
    Thanks again,
    ronel_8

QuickTime is a requirement for Premiere Elements (any version). Please download and install it so that we can continue this troubleshooting. Among other things, without QuickTime installed, you will not have QuickTime presets in Publish+Share and will not have available to you codecs supplied by that player.
Please right click the Premiere Elements 11 desktop icon and apply Run As Administrator. Please review computer permissions..
In the meanwhile, please reply to all the questions, including
What is the description for your export choice and does it make a difference if your Export Save In location is the desktop or to Video Folder in Documents?
What is a description of your computer resources?

  • How do I output the program monitor from Premiere Elements 13 to an external TV monitor?

I can find information about dual monitor set ups, but is it possible to output the program monitor only to an external monitor?
    If so, what is needed?
I'm using PE`3 on a PC with Windows 7  64 bit  with an NVIDIA Quadro NVS 290.
    Thanks

    bobj
Have not found a way, but....
Do you have a HDMI cable and does your computer and TV each have a HDMI port.
The TImeline panel appears to be the only undockable panel in the Premiere Elements 13/13.1 Expert workspace area (Window Menu/Dual Monitor)
The best I can do is to make a HDMI connection between the HDMI ports of my computer and TV, with display at Duplicate or Extend. That does not appear to be what you seek.
The other part of all this is that Premiere Elements used to have a "Playback Settings" in Project Settings and accessed from
right clicking the Edit area monitor. That is no longer to be found in 13.1, even in a grayed out state. And, for me, the Playback Settings could not be made visible
when attaching a 3rd party device.
In the days of Premiere Elements 11, the answer to your question might have been as described in the following
Adobe Premiere Elements 11 * Previewing movies
Until proven otherwise, I am thinking that it cannot be done in Premiere Elements 13/13.1. But, I am not at a stage where I would put a never and always stamp on this.

  • Final Cut Pro Vs. Adobe Premiere Elements 9 output quality.

    Hey Group.
I am trying to edit some Sony 1920X1080 30i AVCHD footage and have had some quality problems while exporting FCP footage with QT exports (all footage logged and transferred into FCE with the proper setting that match the footage, etc as chronicled in other entries I have already discussed in other entries within this forum). My final footage was always coming out jittery and motion was never smooth and the "HD video" it produced looked amateurish and very computer generated looking. As a last ditch experiment, I decided to give a trial to Adobe Premiere Elements 9, which edits native AVCHD footage. When I exported a trial test, I was amazed to see this program exported the footage with a look that was exactly the same as the source HD footage from the camera, when played back on my WD HDTV Plus. My question is: what am I doing wrong in FCP? Is it because Premiere edits the footage natively rather than the conversion codecs FCP uses? Just seeing if anyone has any clues to this strange phenomenon. I certainly know for sure I like the workflow in FCP way better than in Adobe....Any ideas would be great. Thanks
    Marshall

Okay, so here's my settings for my project...
To begin with, my output is to a WD HDTV Plus which needs a H.264 1920X1080i30 file.
The source footage is SONY AVCHD 1080i60.
    My Import Prefs:
    AVCHD: Apple ProRes422
    AC-3 Audio: Plain Stereo
    RT:
    Both Dynamic Playbacks
    Unlimited RT
    Exported using QuickTime Conversion:
    Compression: H.264
    Frames:
    Current
    Key Frames:
    Every 24
    Compressor Quality: Best
    Data Rate: Automatic
When it gets played back, still elements look "HD" but moving objects are jittered....HELP!
    thanks

  • How can I output the alpha channel in Premiere elements 10

How can I output the alpha channel in Premiere elements 10. What format should I use?
Tried outputting to an AVI filet but the file did not contain an alpha channel that After Effects 5.5 would recognize.

    Bill,
I hope you ordered 32 GB or more on that new computer After Effects 5.5 takes up as much as it can.
The Roto Brush tool is really a timesaver over ordinary Rotoscoping. Although, my problem now is: when I try to send a 1 min. And 11 second video from Adobe Premier Pro 5.5 two Adobe Media encoder 5.5, the process hangs in wait state in the Media Encoder. I have filed a request for help on the Media Encoder forum.
I know you will put your new computer to use in helping other people and for this I thank you.

  • Will Premiere Elements 10 output full 1920 x 1080p? (not 1080i) to a file?

I know this is a really simple question, but I can't find the answer anywhere in the software specs, and all sorts of variations of searches bring up no results in the Forum.
I have bought, at full price, (not even upgrade price) every version of Premiere Elements since version 5.  I currently have V 9.  I can find no way of outputting proper, full, 1920 x 1080p @ 25FPS despite having this as my input source material. (UK JVC Everio Camcorder TOD format in fulll 1080p.)   (Not 1080i - 1080p!)
I usually end up setting the project settings to 720p 25FPS (using 1080p source material) and outputting at that, which is a shame.
So the simple question is as above. Will Premiere Elements 10 output full 1920 x 1080p (not 1080i) at 25FPS (British standard) to a file on disk?  Preferably in both MPEG4 for best quality uppload to YouTube, and also as a .WMV file format.
(If anyone knows a way to do this in Version 9, I'd be  really pleased to hear it - although I have asked that question before.  :-)
    Cheers, folks.
    Steve.

You should be able to set your output up for progressive scan under the Advanced settings.

  • Adobe premiere elements 7 output options

I want to see the edited film in HD quality on TV but AP7 will not export in HD quality and I have heard that burning a Blu-ray requires preprocessing so that the quality is compromised there too. Is this correct? What can I gain with upgrading in terms of output quality? I think the optimal solution would be to export the film to a media player which then plays it on TV. We want to see the film in HD on TV.
    Thank You from sweden

    nicholas55
First, Premiere Elements (any version) on any operating system, you are not going to get Dolby Digital 5.1 channel or any other 5.1 channel audio on the burn to DVD or Blu-ray. You get Dolby Digital 2 channel audio. The frame rate is 25 interlaced frames per second (in your PAL setup). That is it.
There is no project preset for 1080p50 in Premiere Elements 7. We might improvise with the PAL AVCHD Full HD1080i25 5.1 channel project preset and depend on the export settings to define your export. It gets tricky in 7 when you are dealing with AVCHD 5.1 channel and its automatic jumping to upper tracks unless the project preset is set for an AVCHD 5.1 channel one.
As for Premiere Elements 7 export to file, in workarounds (customizing the MPEG/HD 720p preset, I can get you a 1080p50 Dolby Digital Stereo as MPEG2.mpg file). There would be bitrate settings  available for adjustment to set for a compromise between file size and quality.
    Premiere Elements 12 would offer
    a. 1080p50 project preset
    b. more available resources if it was running on Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit
    c. AVCHD compression for export, better quality than MPEG2
    d. Opportunities to export the 1080p50 AAC 5.1 channel or Windows Media Audio 10 Professional 5.1 channel.
    e. Burn to Blu-ray or DVD would still end up 1920 x 1080 display 25 interlaced frames per second and Dolby Digital Stereo 2 channel audio.
The following blog posts can give you some insight into the Premiere Elements 5.1 channel situation if 5.1 channel export to file saved to computer hard drive is an expectation.
    http://www.atr935.blogspot.com/2013/04/pe11-exporting-1080p50-or-1080p60-file.html
    http://www.atr935.blogspot.com/2013/07/pe11-exporting-1080p25-or-1080p30-file.html
    http://www.atr935.blogspot.com/2013/10/pe12-exporting-720p50-or-720p60-file.html
"1080p50" designates that you have 1920 x 1080 @ 50 progressive frames per second. That does not tell you the audio and video compression and file extension. It, like your present video, could have a .mts file extension. The video compression is probably AVCHD. The audio compression will likely be Dolby Digital 5.1 channel.
You need to evaluate the features of the camera and determine which gives you better quality footage before it even gets to Premiere Elements. Any chance of getting sample video from the sales people. Sometimes you can find samples for a given brand/model online that you can experiment with. Definitely do not buy Premiere Elements before you evaluate it as a tryout with is essentially full featured.
One investment begets another investment. So critically evaluate what you need.
As always, please ask for clarification on anything that I have written if needed.

  • Premiere Elements 12 output problem

I am having problems outputting my project. Different errors messages.  One says transcoding error.  Another time it says export error.  Other times it crashes. And then the program won't even open.
    Any suggestions?

    Steve,
First, thank you for your prompt response.  This is the first time I have used Premiere Elements 12.  I don't seem to have a manual for the software.
The product was bought with my new computer.  I am using windows 8.1 (64-bit) with Intel Core i7-4770 CPU @ 3.40GHz.  I have 12 GB of installed RAM.  I have 1TB hard drive of which this is the first project I done.
I have checked to make sure that I am getting all Windows and Microsoft Updates.  I even manually went to Windows Update and installed the optional updates.
The project is a 20 min. video using mostly photos and 2 small video clips.  The project is saved in its own folder.
When I go to the timeline in Expert view I do see an orange-yellow line above the timeline.  It runs the whole length of the project.
I understand from reading the FAQ's that each photo cannot be larger than 1000 x 750 pixels.  I will check that and reduce their size.  Is there anything else that I need to do?
Where can I find a manual?
    Thanks,
    bwatson9

A lot depends on a lot.
What operating system are you using? What processor do you have and how much RAM and how much free space is on your hard drive?
How long is your project? What model of camcorder is your video coming from and what format and resolution is it?
Have you ensured that your project file is saved to its own folder, with no other project files in this folder?
When you add your video to your timeline in Expert view, do you see a yellow-orange line above the clips, along the top of the timeline? This indicates a mismatch between project settings and video specs.
If you are on a Windows computer, have you set up your computer to get both Windows and Microsoft Updates -- and have you manually gone to Windows Update and ensured you have even the optional updates that don't install automatically?
When did you last run Disk Cleanup and Disk Defragmenter?
