Impulse Responses Didn't Install???

Hi,
I just had a huge crash on my Powerbook and had to re-format and re-install all software, including Logic.
Problem is, the Impulse Responses, apart from the surround IRs, were not installed. Shouldn't they be installed automatically with Logic Pro?
I chose to install the following:
Logic Pro
Waveburner
Logic Studio Surround IRs
Jampacks 1, Rhythm, World
Xtrem Analog
Xtreme Digital
GarageBand contents
And Tools
Could someone help me please? Thanks!

Are you sure they weren't installed?
Remember, the impulses in LP8 are in a different place than in LP7 - in LP7, they were in the usual Library/AppSupport/Logic places, but now there is a system place for impulses, in Library/Audio

  • Original Sp.Designer Impulse Responses. On Which Disc?

    Hello!
When I first installed LP7, I didn't install any Impulse Responses. I guess i must have done a "Custom Install".
Now that I've started using Space Designer though, i need to find these and install them. Which Installation disc are they on?
Logic 'Content Disc' ? Or the normal Logic installation Disc ?
Logic 'Content Disc' requires some 3GB to install and gives the user no option to select which files to install. Since there is no mention if the 'Content' Disc contains any Impulse Responses, i would prefer to avoid such a waste of HD space.
    Thanks a lot.

    BTW......
The Imulse Reponses from Logic 7 are not that great.......
Go to this site and download the IR's

  • Old impulse responses

    hey all,
I just tryed to open an old project that I did in logic 6... I have 3 space desigers in the track. It seems that logic can't find my space designer impulse responses. I'm assuming that it's because when I installed logic 7, the logic 6 IRs didn't get installed. Is there a way to get back the old IRs? Are they on the logic 6 install disc or something?
    thanks,
    Lou Teti
    G5   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

Logic Pro 7 has renamed versions of the IR's. If you deleted your Logic 6 install, try reinstalling IR's from the content disk (they will install in a Logic 6 folder that 7 will recognize).

  • Loading Impulse Responses

Hello everyone. I downloaded a bunch of impulse responses from a site I found. Here's the link, by the way.
    http://www.xs4all.nl/~fokkie/IR.htm#Factory
Perhaps some already know about it . . . but it might be new to others and they might get some serious use out of the impulse responses on there.
The site says to place the files in the impulse responses folder in your Logic folder. The files are in wave format. When I go to Library>Application Support>Logic>Impulse Responses and drop the file in one of the applicable folders ("Church Schellingwoude" in the "25 Chapels & Churches" IR folder, for example) and I open up the Logic program and go to the Space Designer plug and look for the IR . . . Well . . . I don't see it.
Is it because the file is in wav format and not in the same "Space Designer Impulse Rseponse" format that all the other files in there are in?
I would imagine so . . . but then . . . what's the solution? How do I get Logic to recognize all these IR wav files I have? Do I have to change the file type? I tried and it didn't seem to have an applicable or accepatable format.
Sorry for the long post, but I would like to be thorough.
    Help!!
    Thank you.
    Javier Calderon

. . . Well . . . No such luck. One, I checked the sample rate of one file in question itself (the Schellignwoude IR) and it showed as 24 bit already. That was the first bit of discouraging info. Then I opened it up in QT, and exported it as a 24 bit file anyway. I then put it in the IR folder, and then opened up Logic and Space Designer . . . and looked for it . . . and it wasn't there.
Is it because the file is a QT file?
    . . . confused . . .

  • Impulse responses not found automatically

    did anybody experience the following:
since updating to 7.2, Space designer does not find the impulse responses of my OLD factory presets (which i additionally kept, because I am used to them) anymore by itself.
The new factory presets find their I.R. which have been installed by default to the system library folder, without problems.
But the ones from the old factory set do not. Those preset always first ask me to show them the location of the according I.R. no matter where I place those (user area or system area).
Once the I.R. has been shown to the plugin and that song was saved that way, it will be found correctly.
Is there any way to link everything again correctly by default?
    Gert

    dear jord,
thank you for your hint. I once already tried, but possibly I i did it wrong. I scanned both the I.R. folder and the PlugIn settings folder, but the option to relove the entries was greyed out. perhaps I will have to once scan EVERTHING fron the sratch

  • "Impulse Responses" Folder keeps being created on Desktop.

I have recently purchased a Mac and Logic Pro X. Over the passed week I have been writing various bits of music using different samples (Built-In Logic onesm and Garritan Personal Orchestra 4). This problem has only started occuring a few minutes ago, but when I open when of my compositions, an Impulse Response Folder is create on my desktop, but it is completely empty. This doesnt happen with any of my logic projects, which are all stored in the same place. The one that creates this folder only uses a saxophone and piano, with one of Logics reverb plugins, so there is nothing different about this one to the others. Anyways any help would be appreciated, as I'm trying to keep my Mac as clean as possible, file wise, so having this empty folder appearing on my desktop is quite frustrating..
    Many thanks in advanced!
    - Jake Few

I have fixed this problem by simply copying the tracks, with the automation data, into another logic project and saving over the old one.. don't know why that didn't occur to me before!
If anyone knows why it was doing this in the first place I would still appreciate an answer, so I know if there is a way to prevent this happening in the future!
    Again, many thanks

  • Why does LPX come with less impulse response files than previous versions?

    Hello,
I recently upgraded to Logic Pro X from version 8.  I installed Logic Pro X fresh as opposed to layering on more duplicate files that existed from previous Logic versions.  When I noticed that my Logic projects kept turning up a warning indicating that impulse response files were missing, I discovered that Logic Pro X comes with far fewer impulse response files than Logic Pro 8 did.  Is there a reason for omitting some of these files?  I'm wondering if they were determined to be inferior compared to the files they decided to include with version X.  Anyway, I can't shake this nagging curiosity.  Does anyone have a skilled enough ear, or a deeper knowledge of impulse response files to know why that choice might have been made?
    Thanks!

    Okay, now that's really strange.
I'm in Canada and I'm using the newest version of iTunes.
All I'm doing is putting "annie lennox bare" in the search field in the way upper right corner of the store and I get a row of four identical entries.
I don't think it's a duplication error as the pictures are all different scans. The same cover but each one has a slightly different color or contrast, indicating a different scan source.
The first in the row has a release date of 06/02/03 ... the second of 06/10/03 ... the third 06/28/03 ... and the fourth 08/19/03.
Maybe one is a UK release, one is an Irish one, one is Canadian, and one American?? I'd have to dig up a history of the release dates in different countries to be sure. But surely only one is necessary on iTunes.
    It's just confusing.

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

Please reset NVRAM - Startup key combinations for Intel-based Macs - Apple Support and OS X Mavericks: Reset your computer’s PRAM. You have Bootcamp settings in the nvram that are causing problems.

Boot Camp doesn't install the drivers. You have the drivers on a separate USB device if you followed directions. Once in Windows connect the USB drive with the driver software. It should startup automatically and install the drivers.
You don't even need to do that. As downloading the drivers from within Boot Camp Assistant can be unreliable, it is better to get the package directly from here:

Copy the .zip file to a USB flash drive or burn it to a DVD in OS X. Install Windows as normal, insert the flash drive/DVD in Windows, copy the .zip file to the hard drive, extract it, then run the setup executable.

  • How to create a response file to install oracle netowrk Utili 9.2.01.0

I would like to install the Oracle 9i [ Oracle network utility 9.2.0.1.0 ] only but all docs that I have found go over the basic creation and do not go over how I can choose just this option in the response file. I was wondering if there is a way to make the response file like install-sheild setup.iss file for a silent install. If you have any suggestions let me know. I will look if there is a way to automate the creation of the response file.

You don't have to install the Find My iPhone app - you need to switch the feature on in the settings on the phone.

  • Impulse Response editing - Do it the right way: IRs for Space Designer

    Dear fellow board members,
after doing several research on this topic and many attempts to match some Impulse Responses I finally have to admit, that a little help or insight would be much appreciated. Most of the (Beamsonic) IRs, especially the Studer and Ampeg IRs, seem to have overlength (≈ 6 sec.) and some do have "silence" at the very beginning (see picture below).
I would be thankful for a helping hand explaining me, which part of this IR is of relevant importance: Do I need the "silence" tail at the end? What should I take care of when editing such IRs as the pictured one? Would only the marked yellow area be of importance? Get rid of the red areas (beginning & end)?
As many of the IRs I do have correspond to the image above, I have to go through heavy manual editing and before doing so, your help would be much appreciated.
Does anybody have gone through this before and would like to exchange some of his material for the Space Designer (IRs + corresponding Presets)? I am looking for: EMT 250, Studer A80 Tape, other Tape Sats as well, Ampeg, Westlake Studio D, other useful top quality IRs as well.
For now, many thanks in advance for sharing interest
    Vic.
      Mac OS X (10.3.8)

    1. You maybe want to comment on what is considered to be the
"technical right way" to achieve DAW Tape Saturation via IRs, i.e.
what makes sense and what not?
Really, there is no technical right way - all we are doing is altering our recorded audio in a way that we like - it will vary depending on your tools, your tastes, the material, the artistic intent etc...
a - Insert the Convolution Reverb right on the Audio Channel
    itself with Pre/Post-Compression/EQing, etc.
I will do this if I want to process an individual channel for colour. Remember to set the effect to 100% wet.
b - Send audio to a Convolution Reverb Bus (and share w/multiple
audio channels), loss of quality, etc?
You're just sending a bunch of channels - in convolution terms, the results as far as I know will be the same if you process 10 channels indivdually and sum them, compared to if you sum the 10 channels then convolute them. Remember, convolution is a static process in most tools, including Space Designer.
How would you judge the value of using "Impulse Responses"
    in comparison to "Plug-Ins"?
Well, I don't think anyone's done a tape saturation plugin properly yet. I'm not an expert in this field, but had some interesting discussions with one of the Sonalksis developers over on KVR who is heavily researching into tape saturation (he's doing a doctorate in the subject) and he thinks that it is possible to do a decent tape saturation plugin - not easy by a long stretch, but possible, so I'm sure we will eventually see decent plugs appearing.
Having said that, I'm not actually a huge fan of the tape sound anyway - I like the impulses for that colour if I need it, but I certainly don't run everything through it. I don't really like the smeared transients, at least on my "less natural" pieces. Rock music (as an example) may well work better.
The plugins that do saturation in varying amounts are a mixed bag in my opinion. A lot of people love VintageWarmer, but I'm not that keen on it (again, I'm not an "expert" by a long stretch, these are just my personal opinions).
I've had some great results using Guitar Amp Pro for saturation and warming (we're talking subtle stuff here) on drums and guitars.
There are a bunch of other plugs too, but none that I have used to tape saturation. DUY's tape does saturation, but not really accurate tape simulation *from what I have heard* - I haven't used it personally myself. Charles Dye seems to like it, anyway!
. Finally: Did anybody experiance differences in quality when
comparing Convolution Reverbs (i.e. SD vs Altiverb vs Waves) in
    processing the same IR?
In general, no. Mathmatical convolution is afaiu a mathmatically "perfect" process, much like the adding of audio signals in the digital realm. As long as you know how to do the maths correctly, there should be no difference, given the same IR (it's the IR that really determines the quality of the output).
Of course, different plugs implement things differently, and have different features, but by and large, the convolution engines these things use should be generally the same.
Again, I'm no expert and haven't done exhaustive testing or anything - this info comes from discussions I have and my understanding of these processes from a DSP point of view. Other may well be able to back up or debunk what I've said, so I'll leave the floor to them now...
