Imsrestore: General error Mailbox is opened

Hi,
after restoring a lot of emails, I got an error on imsrestore:
/opt/SUNWcomms/messaging64/bin/imsrestore[21472]: General Error: user/grzemba/Sent Cannot set per user flags : Mailbox is opened
and restore hang.
It was called via Networker recover and imsasm.
But I have all servicee stoped and started the only store with
# start-msg store
What the real problem?
Oracle Communications Messaging Server 7u4-27.01(7.0.4.27.0) 64bit (built Aug 30 2012)
libimta.so 7u4-27.01 64bit (built 08:47:11, Aug 30 2012)
Using /opt/SUNWcomms/messaging64/config/imta.cnf (compiled)
SunOS webmail 5.10 Generic_Virtual i86pc i386 i86pc

The error message happens when the folder being restored to did not have the same UID VALIDITY as the original folder - ie, it is not the original folder. The "is opened" part is just reporting the status of the preceding call to open the folder. So we know that succeeded, but it found the UID VALIDITY is not the same.
But I'm not sure that will help you much.
Also, when you say "restore hangs", do you mean the imsrestore process which reported that error continues to exist but is not doing anything else? If so, please do pstack on it. If not, then exactly what do you mean?
I would also say to look in the default log file around the time of the error.
And open a support case.

  • Final Cut Pro HD: General Error - Unable to open file

    Hi Everyone,
Problems again. Thanks for all of you who responded to my last dilemma.
Using Final Cut Pro HD, I saved my project and tried to reopen it and it won't open; gives me a "General Error 41" message. I saved a copy to the desktop and it wouldn't open either. I tried restarting, using 400 firewire and 800 firewire and nothing.
Anyone know of a solution? Thanks and appreciation ahead of time.

  • GENERAL ERROR WON'T OPEN HELP!!!!!

for a few months now, i've had a problem that, every week or so, won't allow me to save. I've since gotten over it (i never found a solution) by exporting it to a quicktime file every time it happens, so i can re-import the changes i've made that day. Today, it gave me the error message again (it reads: "Unknown error: cannot save"), and so i exported it and quit w/ out saving. But when I restarted it (and eventually the computer) nothing will open and i get "general error" message (no ID #). I have sifted through other posts, but no one seems to have the exact problem as me, or else nobody offered a solution. I've made this entire project w/ FCE 2.0.3, I've trashed prefs, i've tried opening from an autosave... nothing. This has nothing to do w/ exporting to quicktime movie or logging/capturing, which i have seen other people have trouble with.
also, found today that it is only this project that seems to be corrupted- others will open. but i still need this project!!!
fyi, yes this has been cross-posted in the FCE forum, but a) nobody answered it there b) some people only check this one and c) i find a LOT of problems apply to both systems

Did you get your answer in FCE forum?
Corrupted projects happen often when you bring a Photoshop file in that is in CMYK space.
If you can find that file -- remove it.
    Or -
Move your scratch folder to another location... move all your title files and pic files to another location.
Your project file should open then and you'll be asked to reconnect the media. DON'T. Reconnect one by one from the application's browser until you get the corrupted file.
Re import that file (as I assume...) into Photoshop and change it RGB space. Then reimport.
    Good luck,

  • Every time I try to open a project in final cut pro it says general error. What do I need to do to make it stop saying this? Please help me.

My final cut pro software is acting up!!! Every time I try to open a project it says "general error" and the timeline doesn't even show up. What do I ahve to do to fix  this?

Has it ever worked? What version are you using? Generally the overwhelming suggestion for problems like this are to remove the preferences.

  • HELP! Can't Open a FCP project File, "General Error 41"

Trying to open a project for a Good guy
over a barrel, using FCStudio /FCP 5.1 FCP opens,
then says "General Error 41". All I need to
do is create an SD Version DVD, But first
    I Gotta open it.
    G5   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

Since this is your friend's FCP project file, check to see if he/she has version 5.1.1 or above.
I think the project file is from a newer format.
For some reason, the bump from FCP 5.1 to 5.1.x was big enough to require the project files to be a different format.
If that is the case, (and if you want to take the chance on the unknown,) you can upgrade to the version your friend has (or above.)
Make sure you really want to upgrade and are prepared for all the potential problems!

  • Can't open project - "general error"

I had literally just finished a project for Blu-ray. All done. I began locating transcode files for DVD for my assets so that I could build a DVD image file in addition to the Blu-ray one I intended to create. Encore didn't seem to like that all that much, and occasionaly found media to be offline, even when it wasn't offline. When at last it appeared that it was finally in agreement with me, I saved the project and exited the program.
Now, I cannot open the project. The project begins to load, I can even see my assets appear in the project window. But then, I receive the infamous "General Error" message. I hit ok, and the project immediatly closes. Sometimes I get dozens of "General Error" messages, but the result is always the same. The project closes and I am left wondering what the heck happened.
I would really like not to have to build this project all over again from scratch. So any thoughts or advice is appreciated. I'm growing increasingly frustrated with the bugs in Encore.
    Things I have already tried:
    Moving project location
    Copying, changing project names
Deleting the transcoded DVD files and folders in "transcodes" and/or "sources" folders
    Restarting
Opening other projects. (They all work, only this one gets the error.)
Searching, googling, and reading through this and other forums for answers.
    My machine:
    Windows 7 64bit
    Adobe Encore CS6.0.2.004
All my assets are previously encoded in Media Encoder, so I am not using any Dynamic Links.

    Try this:
Troubleshoot damaged projects in Encore on Windows
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/406/kb406006.html
I don't hold much hope with some of the steps you took (moving project etc).

  • General Error opening project won't go away

This is really bad. I'm supposed to show the current cut of my 15 minute movie tomorrow, but FCE HD 3.5.1 shows a General Error when I try to open my project. Not just my current project, but for all project files in my Autosave Vault and most project files in the Trash, too.
    Here's my setup:
    MacBook Pro, OS X 10.4.9
    FCE HD 3.5.1
    Project File stored locally
Scratch disk on an external Firewire hard disk
Nothing about my setup has changed since I started this project
All of a sudden this afternoon I got the dreaded "General Error."
Open my project with the media disk unmounted and unplugged: General Error
Trash the preferences folder and com.apple... file: General Error
Reinstall FCE HD 3.5.1: General Error
What else is there to do? Suggestions for how I can recover my project file without recreating it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.
    john

    Tom,
Your suggestions in email to me didn't solve my problem, exactly, but got me thinking along the lines that did solve my problem. Thank-you very much.
Bottom line: this is probably a bad practice (I'm an iMovie veteran, but a FCE newbie), but I had media spread in three different places. Video was on the external firewire scratch disck, some jpeg's were copied to the same folder (or subfolder) as the project file, and (the killer) some files were left on a server computer on the LAN.
At some point I had disconnected from the server and FCE freaks out over that. Rather than giving a "missing media" alert like it does for a detached media or scratch disk, it gives an unhelpful "General error."
Lesson learned: when opening a project file, be sure you are connected to any and all servers on your LAN from which you may have imported media, like pictures.
    Thanks, Tom!

  • Cannot open projects in FCP - "General Error"

Well, just upgraded to OS 10.4.10, and FCP to 5.1 on my 867 quicksilver. several external lacie hard drives. 1.5 GB ram. after the archive and install of the OS, I could not open projects in FCP 4.5 due "General Error". I upgraded to FCP 5.1 and experience same issue.
at the time of OS upgrade, i also changed my second internal drive for a larger one, and put the original one, with its original name, in an external firewire housing. It appears on my desktop and is included in the FCP system preferences, so i assume that is not a problem.
    any ideas?

I updates to 5.1.4, and issue turned into "project file unreadable or from more recent version of FCP" when file is actually from older version. THIS problem was solved by disconnecting all external drives, opening 4.5 project and updating to 5.1.4, reconnecting and setting external drives in FCP system pref, and then reconnecting media.
I have had this problem also happen with a project i already successfully opened in 5.1.4 ...turns out i had opened it with some network drives on my desktop and then removed them. I put one back, it opened successfully, I got rid of the network drive and resaved and now it opens fine. In other words the message "project unreadable or from a later version of Final Cut" really indicates there is some drive rooting problem, not a problem with project file or what generation it is.
hope that helps anyone out there. sure is a relief to be working again.

  • [Solved] libreoffice-3.4.1-2 and General Error opening/saving file

I've just done a 'pacman -Syu' and had libreoffice upgraded to version 3.4.1-2.
Now whenever I open a file (new or existing document) or save the file, I get a small window with the meaningless error message:
    General Error
However, at least the file can be edited normally and seems to be saved okay in reality.
    Anyone else finding this problem?
PS: It happens no matter if I load LibreOffice via the soffice or libreoffice commands; also there are no text messages shown if run from a terminal.

Thanks to the package maintainers for addressing this bug so quickly.
Just updated rasqal and all seems well with libreoffice now.

  • General error when opening FCP project file

Hi, I have searched on the forums and found similar questions, but no solution yet.
I created a project about a month ago (FCP 5.0.4) and now I need to make some additions but every time I open the file (or all of the 20 autosaved files) I get a general error message. I tried moving the media files to another folder, but I still get the general error message. I have the project file on my local drive and the scratch disk is a My Book drive (I forgot to reformat the drive so it is still Fat32). I have removed the preferences and ran disk first aid already.
All of my other projects I can open just fine.
Any suggestions? I need to add about 2 more minutes to the project which is already 18min. It took me a week to edit and I really don't want to re-edit everything.
    I am using FCP 5.0.4 on a PB G4 1.5Ghz

I don't quite understand - did you move your project files to a FAT 32 formatted HD?
If so, they're probably cooked . . . (as in wrecked)
Check to see if they're .fcp and if not, try changing one to that, then try to open it.
Search this forum for something like FAT 32 or Mac OS Extended - you may glean more accurate info from that.

  • FCE project files won't open. General error message.

All of a sudden nearly all my project files refuse to open. Even when I try to open previous backups the same thing happens. General error! These files have been ok for at least the last 2 years. What could have caused this and can I get these years of work back? Please help.

Used FCS Remover and re-installed but still get same result. Except that on first attempt to start FCE, after error message appeared, FCE carried on briefly showing 'Profiling for RT Extreme…' and a percentage. When it reached 100% it stopped immediately. Tried the whole process more than once. The first time an app called File Defense (in demo mode) showed an attempt to write to a .rsrc file when AU Pitch was reached. Have removed File Defense. Also logging in with shift key down to prevent any login items from loading. Logic Express 8 is installed and uses AU files but I don't know how to uninstall it.

  • General Error When Opening A Project in FCE

I have read many threads on this.
My Config: FCE HD 3.51 / Intel Duo iMac
When I opened the project (both from FCE and double click), it would not open and I received a General Error. My projects are saved in a folder called FCE Projects in my documents folder on my iMacs hard drive.
I am able to open from my Auto Save - I moved this file to my desktop and renamed as the project copy - now I can open the project again.
HOWEVER - when I move this project off my desktop back into my FCE projects folder, I get the same General Error again. Other projects from the same folder open fine.
    Any ideas?

    Try repairing permissions and re-boot.

  • Receiving General Error when opening Project file in FCP 5.04

    Hi to everyone.
I would need a little help. We have 4 Macs running (two G5 and two Laptops). All running with FCP Pro 5.04.
When I create a project on my G5 and open it with my laptop everything runs fine. When I make some edits/renders and save the project and try to open it again, I receive a General Error message.
But on the other two machines the file opens. I have used FCP rescue, trashed also manually the prefs, deleted on the G5 the Render files, made a PRAM zap, used Disk Utility, cleared the Wavecache etc. but no result. The Mediafiles are stored on a LACIE 500 GB. I do work this way since years and never had this before.
Does anybody have an idea ?Thanks in advance.

    G5 2 Ghz Dual Core and G4 Laptop   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   4.5 Gig Ram, LA CIE 500 G

    Hi everyone,
at first thanks for the replies. I tried already the New User account. It's not working and also the Lacie is fine. The problem is more complicating, I guess.
Basically it's funny that the problem starts, when I have already worked in the project. When I set up the project (load picture and sound files all standard formats, Uncompressed picture and Aiff sound) and save the project, it opens simply, when I work in the project, edit, render etc (pluggins are on both machines identicall) and save (after deleting the render files), my machine is the only one who gives General Error.
Funny is that I used FCP since years in the same setup (Desktop-laptop) and never had this. I already trashed even the trash -:)
So I guess that this problem is a really special one, perfect for all Mac Sherlocks to solve -:)
So if anyone has an idea....
    Cheers Zolee

  • Opening FCP 6 project in FCP 5 (general error 41)

So I was handed this project halfway through completion that was done in FCP (version 5.0), that of course won't open FCP 5 (I get the General error 41).
I don't have access (as of now) to FC6 machine, so I can't even export an XML.
I do have access to Final Cut Express HD 3.5.1, but I am getting the same error there.
    Any help would be aprecaited.

    Here's how to zip...
    http://www.automaticduck.com/screenshots/howtozip.html
You don't specify which part of your massive project you need exported to XML, so I exported the entire project to XML 2.0. It is here.
