In a Sharepoint 2013 Server farm how far away can the backup of failover cluster servers be located away from the primary servers
Hello Community
When you setup a Sharepoint 2013 Server farm
if you want to provide failover clustering, can
the servers that the Sharepoint 2013 Server farm
failover to be located off-site in a different
location (i.e. how far away can the servers the
the primary server in the Sharepoint 2013 Server
farm be away from the failover cluster of backup
Sharepoint 2013 Server farm servers in distance?

Hello Community
A Sharepoint 2013 Server farm created on a physical server
stores it's documents in SQL Server according to how SQL Server is setup.
If a Sharepoint 2013 Server farm is using Hyper-V and Virtual machines
how is BLOB data stored ?
Thank you
ShabeautAre you looking to use Remote Blob Storage? or RBS of SQL with SP?
It is going to be same way as it is configured for physical server.

Hello Community
If you have a clustered Sharepoint 2013 Server farm running RAID 10, on a
clustered WS2012 R2 server that has 10 hard drive slots:
(4) drives being part of the Sharepoint 2013 Server farm
(1) drive for the Web App Server
(5) are for hot swap if any of the production hard drives fail
The question(s) is:
- If the server only has 10 slots for hard drives are you still allowed to add a
NAS/RBS drive and does the NAS/RBS drive get clustered also, or does this scenario require
reducing the RAID level down to RAID 5 to allow for NAS/RBS hard drive?
- Does the NAS/RBS hard drive need a hard drive for hot swap?
- Does the NAS/RBS drive have to have Sharepoint 2013 Server or WS2012 R2 running on it?
- Does the Web App Server have Sharepoint 2013 running or just WS2012 R2 running on it?
Thank you
ShabeautRAID 10 requires a minimum of 4 hard drives. The LUN for RBS must be attached to the SQL Server, not SharePoint server, as a local drive. You just need to be running the minimum required OS for the version of SQL Server you're using.
Do you mean Office Web Apps by "Web App Server"? If so, that cannot have SharePoint installed on it. Otherwise, if you're just referring to it as another SharePoint server, yes it would have SharePoint installed on it.

Hello Community
Currently I have a Sharepoint 2010 Server farm.
One server contains the database and DNS server
because it is the the domain controller.
The other server Contains the Sharepoint 2010 Server software
and is the the application server where applications such as Metadata,
UPs, etc, reside (including web applications with sites built with the UI).
Now I am going to change to Sharepoint 2013 Server because currently
there is no newer version of Sharepoint available.
I am ready to rebuild the current Sharepoint 2010 farm configuration into
a Sharepoint 2013 Server farm from scratch.
The question is what do needs to be added and\or changed to make the current
Sharepoint 2010 Server farm configuration work as a Sharepoint 2013 Server farm?
Thank you
ShabeautThere is no direct in-place uprade method for SharePoint 2010 to 2013. You need to create a new SharePoint 2013 farm from scratch and attach service and content databases to upgrade them. Check out Upgrade
to SharePoint 2013 for more information about the process.
If you have another server, you would install SharePoint 2013 on this. If you don't, you'll need to remove SharePoint 2010 from your existing server and then install SharePoint 2013. Check out Hardware
and software requirements for SharePoint 2013 before starting to make sure your server meets the minimum requirements for SharePoint 2013:
Web server or application server in a three-tier farm
Pilot, user acceptance test, or production deployment of SharePoint Server 2013 or SharePoint Foundation 2013.
12 GB memory
64-bit, 4 processor cores
80 GB for system drive

Is Azure needed in on-premise Sharepoint 2013 Server farms?
Hello Community
When you have an on-premise Sharepoint 2013 Server farm
do you need Azure or is Azure only needed when you have a
Sharepoint 2013 Server farm in a cloud?
Thank you
ShabeautNo, you do not need Azure for an on-prem farm, unless you're working with Low Trust SharePoint Apps.

How do I transfer or backup tv shows I downloaded on my iPad from the iPad into my computer's iTunes library? I have a bunch of tv episodes on my iPad that I want to delete but first i want to back them up onto my computer so i have them. If I check "Sync TV Shows" in the iPad in TV shows it tells me all the shows on the iPad will be replaced by what is in my library. I tried going into iTunes store to redownload but it tells me they are "downloaded." Any thoughts?

What do I need to upgrade to Sharepoint 2013 Server
Hello Community
At this point using Sharepoint 2010 Server and the UI I have built an intranet
consisting of a 2 server farm (DC and Sharepoint 2010 Server both on Windows 2008 Server).
But the goal is to move up to Sharepoint 2013 Server which might not be a
straight forward upgrade.
So the question is what version of Windows Server does Sharepoint 2013 Server
use, how do you copy the Windows 2008 Server DC and Sharepoint 2010 Server onto
the Windows Server version that Sharepoint 2013 Server will run on?
Thank you
ShabeautShabeaut,
Just to elaborate a little more, there's not a direct version upgrade from SharePoint 2010 to SharePoint 2013, like there was in previous versions. The only way to directly transfer or copy content from SharePoint 2010 is by the
database attach method, which is basically copying the content database files from SP2010's SQL server to the SQL server used by your SP2013 farm.
There are many differences in the architecture between SP2010 and SP2013, so a good amount of research and planning is involved as well as a much larger recommended server farm. Start with reading the TechNet article posted by Paul Stork
to start getting an idea of the actual steps, but upgrading from SP2010 to SP2013 is a major effort.
have fun,

What is the build version for Sharepoint 2013 Server including trial version there is one?
Hello Community
When using WS2012 and Sharepoint 2013 Server, what
build version for a Sharepoint 2013 Server farm should
be applied and where do you get the cumulative update
for it (trial version also if there is one)?
Thank you
ShabeautHi,
According to your description, my understanding is that you want to know which SharePoint build version should be applied to Windows Server 2012 and where to get cumulative update.
If you want to use SharePoint in Windows Server 2012, you can use the RTM version 15.0.4420.1017.
For CU update and build version, I suggest you can refer the detailed article below:
SharePoint 2013 Build Numbers
Thanks

Hello Community
Using WS2012 and Sharepoint 2013 Server you can add a
Calendar to a page.
The problem is that Sharepoint 2013 Server's default "Team Site"
page is not setup with a box on the far right of the page and 2 boxes in the
middle (one above the other) where you could insert web parts into
those boxes.
So the question is when you use Sharepoint 2013 Server "Team Site"
page (if not is there any other site page) where you can have a box
on the far right of the page and 2 boxes in the middle of the page
(one above the other) so that you can insert web parts into those boxes
(as the previous version of Sharepoint's default page was setup) and if so
how?
Thank you
ShabeautHi Shabeaut,
Based on your description, my understanding is that you want to change the text layout for the home page of the team site as it was in SharePoint 2010.
If I misunderstood, please feel free to correct me.
I recommend to edit the home page and then click Text Layout in the ribbon on Format Text tab, then select the text layout you need.
Best regards,
Victoria

Do you have to create SPN before you install Sharepoint 2013 Server?
Hello Community
After installing WS2012 and Sharepoint 2013 Server on it, I
created SPN's for the SQL Server and domain user.
While creating the web application I ran across some information
that says if you use Kerberos Authentication you have to setup the SPN's
in AD DS before you install Sharepoint 2013 Server.
That doesn't make sense to me because it might be possible that
SPN's may be needed to be created throughout the lifetime of the
Sharepoint farm which could be forever.
So the question is, is it true that you can only use Kerberos
Authentication if you created the SPN's in AD DS first?
Thank you
ShabeautYou can create it after-the-fact, you just may have access issues until it is created and the user account running the pool is logged off and back on again. Right, it has nothing to do with the installation status of SharePoint.

PowerShell command To configure Access Service 2010 in sharepoint 2013 server
HI ,
can any body give reference for Powershell command for
Access Service 2010
I am currently able to run powershell command for
Access Service .
But in sharepoint 2013,Access Service 2010 is a new service, but i am not able to see any refernce blog for command.Hi,
According to your description, you want to configure Access Service 2010 in SharePoint 2013 server by using a Windows PowerShell.
Take a look at an articles about configuring services and service applications in SharePoint 2013:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee794878(v=office.15).aspx
Updates on how to do a lot of these (include
configure Access Service 2010 ) with PowerShell haven't really been released yet.
Here is an article about configuring a service application by using a Windows PowerShell script (SharePoint Server 2010), you can use as a reference:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg983005(v=office.14).aspx

Sharepoint 2013 Server Search Not Working, URGENT!!
Hi thr,
im a current sharepoint 2013 server user and im facing a severe problem with sharepoint now, i cannot search using the search bar
And the Search Service Application keeps giving me this error, 'The search service is not able to connect to the machine that hosts the administration component. Verify that the administration component in search application ‘Search Service Application’
is in a good state and try again. '
I have tried every possible way including creating new search service application, restarting the services , everything i had already tried but its still not working and keep giving me errors
Anyone can help me? its very urgent here, thanksCan you check out the patch status of the servers? If you've got auto-update on the servers and something for SharePoint has been downloaded and installed, it might need to be configured still. Either the PS Config (as suggested below) or the Set-up wizard
will take care of this
Additionally, the TechNet Wiki has something that might help you out

Sharepoint 2013 server dropped off domain and readded
I My sharepoint 2013 server dropped off the domain (still trying to figure out why) so I added it back onto the domain. The problem now is alot of the services aren't showing under "Manage services on server", in fact I only have 7 services (Application

again and crawl the Import.Check the below link on the issue with UPA.
