In a Vector ?

In a Vector_
Are all the methods of a Vecor synchronized or not?

Thank you all.
I checked the Source Code

and concluded that not all Vector Methods Are Synchronized.

  • Problems with vectors

    Hi,
    In response to an earlier problem i posted which i thought i had resolved i have to ask some more advice as i am still having problems.
    Basically i have two points (0,0,0) and (1,1,1) where two spheres are located, im trying to connect a cylinder to these spheres. I have tried using Pythagoras theorem and this connects the spheres up perfectly if the z value is assigned to 0 when i use the rotZ() method with the resulting angle. What i would like to know is there any way of connecting the spheres with 3 coordinates for x,y,z using the same method.
    The main formula i was working on was after connecting up the spheres in just 2 dimensions (ie z value equal to 0) as i mentioned earlier, was to calculate the length of the hypoteneus and have the z value divide this (ie using Pytagoras' theorem again tan teeta = z2-z1/c where c is the sqrt(x*x+y*y) ). Once i got this angle i then rotated it around the Y axis (im not sure if i am actually rotating it around the correct axis, i know that i also have to rotate around the X axis a certain degree but i dont know how much) however the spheres still did not connect up.
    Is it possible to do it the above way or do i need to do i need to use all vector calculations (dot, cross products etc) which i would prefer to stay away from?
    Sorry if it is not very clear it is kind of hard to explain!
    Any help would be greatly appreciated because it is really driving me nuts.
    Regards
    Andy

    Hi
    Just putting up the code to show how i am figuring out the angles and what rotations im using
              double tanTeetaXY = (y-0.0f)/(x-0.0f);
                   double teetaXY = Math.atan(tanTeetaXY);
                   double tanTeetaXZ = (z-0.0f)/(x-0.0f);
                   double teetaXZ = Math.atan(tanTeetaXZ);
                   double testang = (y-0.0f)/(z-0.0f);
                   double teetatest = Math.atan(testang);
                   rotate.rotZ((Math.PI/2.0f)-teetaXY);
                   temprotate.rotY(teetaXZ);
                   rotate.mul(temprotate);
                   temprotate.rotX(teetatest);
                   rotate.mulInverse(temprotate);
                   rotate.invert();Am i completely off with this or is there a better way to figure things out does anyone know? I just cant get my head around it!
    Much appreciated

  • HELP!!Need to import and print vector drawings

    I am trying this topic again in the hope of help. I need to
    import drawings in a vector format for printing. These drawings
    will be cast members not sprites. I have tried printing a swf
    version via Printomatic but it cannot print Flash members. My
    questions are:
    1. Is therre any way to print a swf cast member (not a
    sprite)
    2. How can I import an EPS file? - I have heard that it can
    be done but every version I have tried seems to fail

    Darrel Plant has written an importer for .ai and .eps files.
    You can get
    it at:
    http://www.moshplant.com/direct-or/ps2vs/
    Haven't used it for a while but it works pretty good.
    Downside is that it creates multiple members because Director
    can't
    (couldn't?) handle multiple-line vector members.

  • Class vector can't be resolved

    hi ,
    plz i got the following error while running a J2ME
    program
    cannot resolve symbol
    symbol : method add (java.lang.String)
    location: class java.util.Vector
    any ideas????

    First of all, crosspost:
    http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=629578
    Please only use one thread.
    There is no method "add(someStringVariable)" in the Vector library for j2me. However, there is "addElement (Object o)".
    j2me specs and j2se specs are very different.
    J2ME leaves out alot of methods due for mobile usage.
    To get specs for cldc and midp, look here:

  • Vector class can't be resolved

    hi ,
    plz i got the following error while running a J2ME
    program
    cannot resolve symbol
    symbol : method add (java.lang.String)
    location: class java.util.Vector
    any ideas????

    The name of the method is addElement(). A quick glance at the javadocs would have solved that problem in no time.

  • Viewing vector files in Adobe Bridge

    I currently us "Art Expolsion" for vector files.  I use to be able to view the actual thumbnail images in Bridge, but all I see now is the Icon.  How can I change the view so I can see the actual image instead of open them one up at a time?

    You should be able to see a small low res thumb, to see the whole art in high res, save your file with the option "pdf compatible"

  • Program error when attempting to edit a vector smart object. Help?

    I'm running Photoshop CS6 (13.0.1) 64bit on a MacBook Pro running OS X Lion. About 60% of the time when I try to double click a vector smart object instead of opening it up in Illustrator I get an error that says, "Could not edit original smart object because of program error." This most recent time it was a smart object from vector data I copied and pasted from Illustrator into Photoshop.
    Any idea why this is happening and how I can fix it?
    Thanks.

    Hi there,
    I got this problem when I installed Adob master collection Over CS 5.
    I had children book story storis which created in Adobe illustrator CS 5 and I created art boards in Adobe photoshop cs 5.
    After installting CS 6 i tried to edit the smart objects and it was not opeinging the smart object file in Illustrator.
    I did some tests.
    1) Right click on smart object layer and click export contents. Save on desktopp or anywhere you want. (I saved on desktop)
    2) I had this file on my desktop (Vector Smart Object10.ai) but it didn't show any icon, which program should open this type of file.
    3) Double click on the file and it pop up a extension window 'Click on change and select adobe illustrator' and press OK.
    4) Go back to your photoshop file and right click on smart object layer and click dit content. now this time it opens up assets in illustrator.
    ENJOY!

  • Can not find individual element in the Vector

    Hi everyone,
    I have employeeRecord class .
    I have employee Vector.
    I have created two employeeRecord and added them to my employee Vector.
    I am trying to test my employee Vector by using lgName = "rez704" .
    However I do not see any result.
    I was expecting the for loop to go through my employee Vector and
    find the login name which matches with my test variable lgName.
    ANy clues?
    many thanks

    Enumeration e = empVector.elements();

    Hi Guys,
    No, none of the solution works!!
    I tired the following just for testing.
    int l = 0;
    if ( empVector.elementAt(l).equals(e1.nextElement()) )
    <

    it only prints the first employee record
    Login Name Found
    login Name = reza700
    Last name = ameri
    passWord = 765
    in my original question which I had posted, I wanted to compare not the whole Vector object but
    only to access loginName whithin the emplyoeeVector and comapare it
    with the lgName which is used as testing.
    But the example which I had uesed above and it the wrong type of example the wole emplyoee record is found in the emplyoee vector.
    any help is appreciated.
    thank you again

  • How do you prevent Acrobat PDFMaker from rasterizing vector graphics?

    I am using the "Create PDF" button (provided by the Acrobat PDFMaker in Acrobat X) to create a PDF from a Microsoft Word 2010 document.
    This works fine, except that vector graphics in the Word document appear in the resulting PDF as raster graphics. (That is, when I zoom in, document text outside the graphics appears smooth, but the graphics are blocky; and text inside the graphics that should be retained as text - it's not converted to curves - is just pixels.)
    The original artwork for the vector graphics is in CorelDRAW X6 (sorry, Adobe!).
    I have exported the following files from the original vector drawing in CorelDRAW:
    - EPS (with TIFF preview)
    - Windows metafile (.wmf)
    - Enhanced metafile (.emf)
    I can insert any of these files into Word okay (Insert > Picture), but the resulting PDF always contains a rasterized (bitmapped) version of the vector graphic ("line art").
    From memory, this didn't use to happen in my previous working environment (Acrobat 8 Pro with Word 2003, using artwork exported from CorelDRAW 12).
    How do you prevent Acrobat X PDFMaker from rasterizing vector graphics? Or is Word 2010 (or CorelDRAW X6) somehow to "blame" here?

    Transparency Flattening is being invoked.
    From the Create PDF button, select Properties, what is your setting for Default Settings? Select High Quality Print

  • How to sort a object vector by its integer item ?

    hi everybody,
    [there were few topics on this in the forum, but nothing could solve my problem yet. so, please instruct me]
    I have to sort a vector which contains objects, where each object represents, different data types of values,
    ex: {obj1, obj2, obj3, ....}
    obj1---->{String name, int ID, String[] departments}
    i have to sort this vector at three times, once by name, then by ID and then by departments.
    Leaving name and department , first i want to sort the ID of each object and then re-arrange the order of objects in the array according to new order.
    what i did was, copied the vector all objects' ID values to an integer array then i sorted it using selection sort. but now i want to re-arrange the vector, but i still can't. please guide.
    here is the sort i did, and the
    int[] ID = new int[mintomaxID.size()];
              for(int i=0;i<mintomaxID.size();i++)
                   ObjectStore_initialData obj_id = (ObjectStore_initialData)mintomaxID.elementAt(i);
                   ID[i] = obj_id.getID();
              System.out.println("Before sorting array");
              for(int i=0;i<ID.length;i++)
                   System.out.println(ID);
              System.out.println();
              int i, j, m, mi;
    for (i = 0; i < ID.length - 1; i++) {
    /* find the minimum */
    mi = i;
    for (j = i+1; j < ID.length; j++) {
    if (ID[j] < ID[mi]) {
    mi = j;
    m = ID[mi];
    /* move elements to the right */
    for (j = mi; j > i; j--) {
    ID[j] = ID[j-1];
    ID[i] = m;
    System.out.println("After sorting array");
    for(int y=0;y<ID.length;y++)
                   System.out.println(ID[y]);
    //*****here is where i need to re-arrange the entire vector by ID.
    I do understand this is some sort of database sort type of a question. but there's no database. it's simply i just want to sort the vector.
    Thank you.

    hi camickr,
    thank you for the detailed reply. but i still don't understand somethings. i tried to read the API and look for the collections.
    i have ObjectStore_initialData class (similar to person class), so do i still have to do a comparable class out of this class ? please simplify that.

                   System.out.println(ID[y]);
    /* using collections to sort*/
    Collections.sort(mintomaxID, new IDComparator());
    and to check the new order i wanted to print the vector to command line.
    still it doesn't do anything.
    the url you mentioned is good as i see. but how can i implement that in my class ? please instruct and simplify. i know i just repeated the code, i didn't understand to do a comparable class in collections for this class. Please explain where i'm head to and where's my misleading point here.
    Thank you.

  • How to sort a Vector that stores a particular object type, by an attribute?

    Hi guys,
    i need help on this problem that i'm having. i have a vector that stores a particular object type, and i would like to sort the elements in that vector alphabetically, by comparing the attribute contained in that element. here's the code:
    Class that creates the object
    public class Patient {
    private String patientName, nameOfParent, phoneNumber;
    private GregorianCalendar dateOfBirth;
    private char sex;
    private MedicalHistory medHistory;
    public Patient (String patientName, String nameOfParent, String phoneNumber, GregorianCalendar dateOfBirth, char sex) {
    this.patientName = patientName;
    this.nameOfParent = nameOfParent;
    this.phoneNumber = phoneNumber;
    this.dateOfBirth = dateOfBirth;
    this.sex = sex;
    this.medHistory = new MedicalHistory();
    Class that creates the Vector.
    public class PatientDatabase {
    private Vector <Patient> patientDB = new Vector <Patient> ();
    private DateFunction date = new DateFunction();
    public PatientDatabase () throws IOException{
    String textLine;
    BufferedReader console = new BufferedReader(new FileReader("patient.txt"));
    while ((textLine = console.readLine()) != null) {
    StringTokenizer inReader = new StringTokenizer(textLine,"\t");
    if(inReader.countTokens() != 7)
    throw new IOException("Invalid Input Format");
    else {
    String patientName = inReader.nextToken();
    String nameOfParent = inReader.nextToken();
    String phoneNum = inReader.nextToken();
    int birthYear = Integer.parseInt(inReader.nextToken());
    int birthMonth = Integer.parseInt(inReader.nextToken());
    int birthDay = Integer.parseInt(inReader.nextToken());
    char sex = inReader.nextToken().charAt(0);
    GregorianCalendar dateOfBirth = new GregorianCalendar(birthYear, birthMonth, birthDay);
    Patient newPatient = new Patient(patientName, nameOfParent, phoneNum, dateOfBirth, sex);
    patientDB.addElement(newPatient);
    console.close();
    *note that the constructor actually reads a file and tokenizes each element to an attribute, and each attribute is passed through the constructor of the Patient class to instantiate the object.  it then stores the object into the vector as an element.
    based on this, i would like to sort the vector according to the object's patientName attribute, alphabetically. can anyone out there help me on this?
    i have read most of the threads posted on this forum regarding similar issues, but i don't really understand on how the concept works and how would the Comparable be used to compare the patientName attributes.
    Thanks for your help, guys!

    Are you sure that you will always sort for the patient's name throughout the application? If not, you should consider using Comparators rather than implement Comparable. For the latter, one usually should ensure that the compare() method is consistent with equals(). As for health applications it is likely that there are patients having the same name, reducing compare to the patient's name is hazardous.
    Both, Comparator and Comparable are explained in Sun's Tutorial.

  • Exception IndexOutOfBoundsException using Vector. Christmas homework!

    Hi everyone, I'm not a java expert (almost a newbie, I would say) and this is the first time I post anything in a Forum. I have the following piece of code:
    public class Test extends javax.swing.JFrame {
    private java.util.Vector list;
    public Test() {
         super("test");
         list = new java.util.Vector();
         javax.swing.JButton add = new javax.swing.JButton("Add");
         add.addActionListener(new java.awt.event.ActionListener() {
              public void actionPerformed(java.awt.event.ActionEvent e) {
              String value = "new element";
              System.out.println("size: "+list.size());
              list.add(value);
              int i = list.size();
              System.out.println("size + 1: "+i);
              /**/System.out.println("elem i: "+ (String)list.get(i));
         getContentPane().add(add);
         pack();
         setVisible(true);
    public static void main(String[] args) {
         new Test();
    and when I run it I have the following printout:
    size: 0
    size + 1: 1
    java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException: Array index out of range: 1
    at....
    (omissis)
    Does anyone have any idea of why? how can I solve the problem? Isn't Vector supposed to be "dynamic"?
    Elsewhere I use Vectors with no problems but I am not accessing it right after having added any element, rather I return it as the result of some elaboration and then access it.
    I know it's Christmas time and so I wish you all Merry Christmas and Happy new Year. I hope someone has time to answer me over this holydays.
    Thanks anyway,
    Rosario

    Does anyone have any idea of why? how can I solve the
    problem? Isn't Vector supposed to be "dynamic"?You try to access an element after the last element. When you set i = list.size(), i will be the index of the last element plus one. This is because indices count from 0.
    It is the list.get(i) that causes the problem.

  • Error #1034 Type Coercion fail with registerClassAlias and nested Vectors

    I'm attempting to use flash.net.registerClassAlias and ByteArray.writeObject in order to serialize/deserialize data with static type information.  It works as you'd expect in the general case but I've run into problems with some nested Vectors that I don't understand.  Hopefully someone can point out if I'm just missing something.
    For what I understand, we must register both the scalar types and a one-deep specification of a Vector for that scalar type in order to use nested Vectors.  For example:
                flash.net.registerClassAlias("TestStructureInner", TestStructureInner);
                flash.net.registerClassAlias("VectorTestInner", Vector.<TestStructureInner> as Class);
    This should allow us to read/write objects of type TestStructureInner, Vector.<TestStructureInner>, and Vector.<Vector.<TestStructureInner>> into ByteArrays.  And in general it seems to work.
    Attached though is a simplified test case that fails, however.  The first time we deserialize the data it works.  The subsequent time, however, we encounter the following runtime error #1034.
        TypeError: Error #1034: Type Coercion failed: cannot convert __AS3__.vec::Vector.<Object>@304fcb9 to __AS3__.vec.Vector.<__AS3__.vec::Vector.<Test0.as$30::TestStructureInner>>.

    Re-registering the class aliases again via flash.net.registerClassAlias works in this test case but isn't 100% for our actual application (I'm reticent to even mention it but it seems relevant).  Is there a step I'm missing here?  Any light shed would be appreciated.

  • Vectors and JTable

    There is 2 things I am having problems with. I have 2 vectors I need to combine. I am not sure how to combine vectors. Also I am trying to enter the information in the vectors into a JTable. I have the column names in the JTable. Here is some of the code I have now.
    //enters the column names into a vector which does display in the Jtable
    StringTokenizer stringTokenizer = new StringTokenizer(names, test);
    while(stringTokenizer.hasMoreTokens())
    columnNames.add(stringTokenizer.nextToken());
    right now I have a 2 vectors named partinfo and nsinfo. I am not sure how to combine them the information needs to line up. For the Jtable I know it needs a vector of vectors but I am not sure how to do that. Thanks for anay help.

    I am still having problems. I think I got the 2 vectors combined. I can get it to output but it displays the same entry in every row. Here is how I combined and displayed. Thanks for any help.
    for(int j=0; j <partinfo.size(); j++)
    newnsn = "";
    partinfo.elementAt(j).toString();
    tempData = (PARTS)partinfo.elementAt(j);
    nsninfo.elementAt(j).toString();
    tempSpace = (NSN)nsninfo.elementAt(j);
    newnsn = tempSpace.nsn1 +" " tempSpace.nsn2 " " tempSpace.nsn3 " " +tempSpace.nsn4;
    rowData.addElement(selectpart);
    rowData.addElement(test4);
    rowData.addElement(tempData.part);
    rowData.addElement(test4);
    rowData.addElement(test4);
    rowData.addElement(tempData.cage);
    rowData.addElement(tempData.smr);
    rowData.addElement(tempData.desc);
    rowData.addElement(newnsn);
    System.out.println(j);
    }//for
    for(int q=0; q <rowData.size(); q++)
    data.addElement(rowData);
    System.out.println(q);
    StringTokenizer stringTokenizer = new StringTokenizer(names, test);
    while(stringTokenizer.hasMoreTokens())
    columnNames.add(stringTokenizer.nextToken());
    rowData.setSize(getRowCount());
    columnNames.setSize(getColumnCount());

  • Problems with inserting elements into vectors

    Hi,
    I have a problem with the setElementAt() method for vectors.
    I want to initialise a vector that is same size as a previous vector declared in my program and insert float 0.0 in all the positions.
    The code below is a for loop to do just this where count is the size of the previous vector.
    for(int i=0;i<count; i++)
                   vLargest.setElementAt(zero,i);
              }i have declared zero as a float
    float zero = 0.0f;
    the error that i'm getting is that it that the vector cannot be applied to a float.
    Can anybody tell me what i'm doing wrong?
    Thanks

    Yes you need to store Objects in your Vector not primitives.
    float is not an Object it is a primitive. But Float is an object.
