In A3, How Do I Show or Hide Empty Metadata Tags?

When creating metadata views for various workflows, I would decide whether or not to include a particular tag based upon that tag either being empty or having a value.
As some photos in that workflow did not always have a value in said tag, I would click several photos in succession to look for tags that had values, and would then check or uncheck that tag. This was especially useful when cameras added new info.
In A3, it seems that I have to go through many steps to turn a tag on, go to a photo to see if it has a value; if it doesn't, then go back through the same steps to turn it off, etc. ... In other words, a one-click toggle in the A2 Metadata interface now requires many, many steps in A3 to accomplish the same thing ...
... unless they put the Show/Hide Empty Tags somewhere else ...
Does anyone know where?

You can hide the entire group by binding a attribute to the visible property of the group.

Show or Hide empty table based on If condition

I want to show or hide empty table based on condition. The table will be empty with 5 rows,2 cols and should display if <?Rout_Information1_id1?> is blank or null or when XML field is not present. Actually the JDEdwards report will generate XML file. In the XML file if <?Rout_Information1_id1?> is present it will have definitely value like 'PULL' or 'Cut' otherwise sometimes XML field itself will not be present. Need to display the empty table when the <?Rout_Information1_id1?> is not present. I am trying to do as below but the table is not displayed. Can someone tell me how to resolve this.

How can I show or hide an image based on screen size in CS6?

I have a web site built using Dreamweaver CS6. I used the fluid grid layout to have different views for each of the 3 types - phone, tablet, desktop. It works well, resizes as it should. I would like to be able to show an image in the desktop version but not the mobile version. How could I do that? I can see in the .css file that different size screens can have their own different settings. Is there code I could add that would hide/show and image based on the users viewport on the same page? Let's say I have a div tag named picture. How could I add a parameter to the picture div tag in the style sheet that would hide the image if it was mobile?

I have 8 check boxes and would like to show a subform if any one of the check boxes is checked and hide this subform when the check box is unchecked. How can I do that?

Hi,
Can we assume that all the checkboxes are in the same subform and they have the default values for on and off (that is 1 and 0).
If so try the following JavaScript in the calculate event of the subform containing the checkboxes;
var checkBoxes = this.resolveNodes('#field.[ui.oneOfChild.className=="checkButton" and $ == 1]');
Subform2.presence = (checkBoxes.length > 0) ? "visible" : "hidden";
The first line gets a list of all the child fields that are checkboxes and have a value of 1 (or on).
The next line sets the presence of the subform (which I am calling Subform2) to visible if there is one or more set to true)

How do I show and hide a popup message by the program

Hi,
I've the following problem. Sometime the program must wait to open a seriel port. On slow machines, this could take some seconds.
During this time I'll display a popup message with the message "please, be patient....".
After the port is open, the message should be hide by the program.
JOptionPane could be good, but without a "OK" button. Everthing should be controlled by the program.
I would implement the Runnable interface for the showing of the popup message.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

You can use a JDialog... this will act like JOptionPane, but you can put on it whatever components you like... so no OK button!
For example:
JDialog dialog = new JDialog(parentFrame);
dialog.add(new JLabel("Please be patient", BorderLayout.CENTER);
dialog.pack();
dialog.setLocation(100,100);
dialog.setVisible(true);
dialog.setVisible(false);

How can I show and hide an image or a decoration on the front panel during execution of the vi?

Hello,
I've made a user interface with a little grafic description.
That description should change depending on user actions, e.g. if the user switches a button, some lines should disappear and some other lines should appear.
I thought some decorations could be shown and hidden via something like a property node, but that is not possible. Images can also not be hidden during execution of the program.
Is there any posibility to change a grafic user interface?

Thanks to Tim for drawing what I suggested as option while I had some real work to do.
There is a trick of overcoming the index problem that was presented/devloped in the forum in the last month's:
You can place the decoration inside a cluster, so you can use the lable of the cluster to adress the decoration you want. The data type of the cluster doesn't mather for this, so you will hide the control/indicator. And you colour the cluster transparent (hint: right click with the coloring tool and use space to toggle).

I would like to batch rename all of the files (masters and versions) with a consecutive index (1, 2, 3, and so on).
Select the images in the project and then use ( from the main Aperture application menu)
Matadata -> Batch Change (Shift-Command-B)
Set the Version Name format to one of the "Custom with Index ..." or "Custom with Counter ..." formats and check "Apply to Master Files". Make sure you disable all other changes that you do not want, like Time Zone correction, or keywords.

How to show or Hide Generic Column in a regular report

Hi All,
I have created report based on "SQL query (pl/sql function body returning sql query). It returns columns based on some conditions. I have total 60 generic columns like (COL1,COL2....COL60) but it returns 18 or 20 columns based on my conditions, how can I hide the columns that I don't needed. My column heading is based on function return by ':' separated. My function returns number of columns also. Is there any we I can show only those columns which contains data. My report is exactly similar to the default "SQL query (pl/sql function body returning sql query). I didn't find any logic how they are doing this show and hide. I appreciate any ones help.

Hi there,
Somehow you need to find out how many columns your dynamic select will return (by what you said it seems that your procedure returns this information). Then store that number in a hidden page item, say Pnn_COUNT.
Then, for the 19th and 20th columns in the report add these conditions:
Column 19: :Pnn_COUNT >= 19
Column 20: :Pnn_COUNT >= 20

How to show or hide a control in front panel

Hi All, I am revising the code from someone else, and a control in front panel seems to be hidden until you click something to make it show. I tried to use right click in front panel and it did not work by clicking something related to show or hide. Since I don't quite familiar with property nodes, this hidden setting may be related to that.
In the picture it shows the front panel and its two property nodes, could anyone advise me how to change the setting to show this control? Thank you!

If you right-click on the the control's terminal, you will see an option to "Hide Control" or "Show Control". This is what you should use when editing the code. The property nodes set to Visible are for when the application is running.

How can I show/hide a nested composition during entire video?

I cannot figure out how to hide a nested composition/layer during the main composition. I want to hide it at the beginning, show it during part of the video, and then hide it for the rest of the time. How is this done? Is there a better way of doing this? I'm a rookie with After Effects, so please keep your explanations in detail. Thanks.

You can treat a nested composition or a precomp in the same way you treat any footage. You can split the layer (Ctrl/Cmnd + Shift + D), or simply duplicate the layer (Ctrl/Cmnd + D) and adjust the in our out points of the duplicate (Alt/Option + [ or ]), set keyframes for opacity (T). This is extremely basic stuff. Have you read Todd's Getting Started with After Effects?
If you just want to show or hide a layer and still keep it in the composition then you use the shy switch. The shy switch has nothing to do with layer visibility, it just makes it easier at times to navigate around the timeline.

I want users to click on the checkbox, for an option on the editor as well as its content on the live mobile to hide.
These are two different files which contains the user interface.(the live mobile file and the editor file)
Now how can I make it possible to make both options hide or show at the same time after a user clicks on the
checkbox to show or hide.
Is it possible for a checkbox created on a different file affects an external file to hide a div within that file?

There are several tutorials out there for dissolving a layer, turning text to sand, and similar things. Use any/all of those and then time remap that composition to make the particles form into your word.

How to show or hide portlets dynamically on a Portal Page

Dear All
1. I have a Portal Page with One Portlet in the top having like 5 Buttons. Each button click should display a separate portlet in the bottom on this same page.
2. I have Top Portlet. For bottom I have 5 Portlets P1, P2, P3, P4 and P5. On my .portal file, I dragged and dropped top portlet and all these 5 Portlets one below each other.
3. Now, I am trying to use BackingFile approach at PageLevel/Portlet level, to get the details of button clicked in top portlet (like name etc), and then show only one portlet at a time in the bottom section (using portlet backingcontext show/hide APIs). I do need to compare the bottom portlets defintion_label etc. which is fine for now.
Is this the right approach...?
Or do I have to use Portlet Custom Event approach. So top portlet will trigger event everytime button is clicked with some payload. And bottom 5 portlets listen to that event and show/hide accordingly. But in this approach, I have to attach backingfile to all the bottom portlets to listen to them.
All the portlets are Pageflow based Portlets. Any ideas or any other simpler approaches, are highly appreciated.

1. Thanks a lot for the pointers. I will go with Events. So for bottom Portlets, I will use the same BackingFile. But still it is going to be custom Event. Because only one portlet will be shown. So its like my payload will be portlet def label. In Backing File, I will compare this payload with actual dynamic value and if same, show or hide that portlet. Please let me know if this is correct approach.
2. Now each one of the Bottom Portlets is a complex pageflow portlet with many buttons of their own. So everytime a button is clicked or action is invoked, the Backing File gets called. And I had to somehow know that the same portlet has to be shown or the show/hide logic should not be called. Is there any way, where backing file gets called or just listen for Events triggered only from main top portlet.

I will design and test this out and will keep you posted with my results.

Show or Hide Items based on radio value

I am trying to show and hide various Items based on the values of a radio button item. I have see the code and examples like

The problem I am having is that I have 3 different values of the radio item and I want to display certain items based on each different value.

Show Item2, Item5, Item6
or
radio_value = 'Maybe'
Show Item1, Item2, Item4
I am fairly new to this so it might be easy, I just don't know how.
Any help would be appreciated.
