In Acrobat 9, how do I keep the ratio consistent in the distance tool?

I looked at these settings.Before saving a copy, the only place the properties differed was the Commenting, Signing and Creation of Template Pages were not allowed in X versus in 9. After saving a copy, the properties all look the same, but the Edit Form button is still greyed out.
Document Properties (on both 9 and X after saving a copy):
Printing: Allowed
Changing the Document: Not Allowed
Document Assembly: Not Allowed
Content Copying: Allowed
Content Copying for Accessibility: Allowed
Page Extraction: Allowed
Commenting: Allowed
Filling of form fields: Allowed
Signing: Allowed
Creation of Template Pages: Allowed

Reset, hold both home and power buttons until the iPhone begins to restart itself, ignore the slide to power off slider. Let the iPhone restart itself. Usually takes about 10 seconds of holding both buttons.
Probably do not need this, but Portrait Lock can be set by, pressing home button twice quickly, slide bottom row of icons to the right one time, tap the Portrait Lock icon.

How do I keep iPhoto '09 active on the dock, similar to itunes when the window is closed...
It's so annoying when I close the window... and then when I open it later on, it has to load all the pictures again!
Is it possible to keep it active, even if there is no window open?

You can't.
The rule is simple: if you cannot do anythig with an app without a window, then it quits when you close the last window. So, iMovie, Aperture, Final Cut X, SystemPreferences and others all quit when you close the last window.
Use hiding. Or, if you're accessing files remember iPhoto doesn't need to be running is you use Media Browsers.

How do I keep a custom letterhead on the first page in pages 5. I made a custom template using text boxes and when the first page is full, the letterhead moves to the second page and disappears from the first page. How can I keep it on the first page and not moving to the second page.

Hi Hank,
Text Box at the top of Page 1.
Select the Text Box and
Format Panel > Arrange > Object Placement > Stay on Page
That will stop it moving (flowing) with the text.

Another way is to put your letterhead in the Page Header of Page 1. Insert a Section Break at the bottom of Page 1 (Click where you want the Section Break and
Menu > Insert > Section Break).
Click in Section 2, and
Document Panel > Section > Headers & Footers > untick Match previous section

Imessage in Mavericks at random, on sleep, and when minimized, goes to upper right on the screen and I cant get it back. Even Mission control can not access it. I have close iMessage and restart. How do I keep it from going to the upper right and out of sight?

I think a Screen Shot will help.
Use the CMD+shift+4 and then decribe around the area when you see the cross hairs.
To Post here use the Camera icon in the reply screen and then select/navigate to the Screen Shot (normally on your Desktop) and select it.
Then use the Insert Image button.
I don't use Sleep so I can't speak to that.
Minimise should put it in the DOCK.
Do you mean coming out of Minimise ?
Actually where is your DOCK (mine is at the bottom and I nearly forgot other people have it in different places)
If it is on the right is the Finder icon top of the icons ?
If the windows of an App are minimised then it does not appear in Mission Control (some of this is mixed with normal behaviour).

How do I keep from highlighting terms in the search bar when I modify a string in the search bar--other than by clicking three to five times?

I'm not talking about terms in the search results; I'm talking about terms in the search string in the search bar in the upper right corner. (Mine is set to use only Google.) When I've searched on a string and decide to modify the string for a second search (say, changing "Spanish architecture" to "Spanish architectural style"), clicking at the end of the search string first highlights the entire string and then, as I keep clicking, highlights various parts of the string. Sometimes it takes five clicks to get the highlighting to go away so I can start back-deleting normally instead of by entire word or phrase. The Google homepage doesn't do this, whereas all search engines in Firefox do it, so it's clearly a Firefox annoyance.

TB subscribed to far too many of my message folders. How do I keep them ( 250) out of the panel on the left?

I am a TB newbie, and did something unintentional: while trying to add one folder to the subscription list, I
touched some key --- and there they all go. Cannot tell what happened. The panel subscribe still shows checks for the 40 or so I wanted to display, and has done so for a few days, but the panel on the left seems now to be a few feet long. The ~/mail directory on the server has this larger number of files... I have been using alpine for some time, and it was not an issue.
This is related to another problem: if it can be solved, the other one above would not matter: No way was found to move a message from folder to folder using the KB only; is this possible?

On this slide, the object I want shown (big black rectangle) for the rest of the project is in the right position in the timeline and it covers the master background as it should. As you see, the only things (correctly) covering it are the blue video and the click to continue button. In run time, however, it's a different story -- the widget is suddenly visible over the object as well as the background from the master slide (but not the main master.)
Can anyone help me out?

The stacking order is not working for objects timed for the rest of the project. You have only two choices:
if you don't check the option 'always on top' it will be always at the bottom
if you check that option, it will always be on top.

Hi. I probably haven't put the question correctly, but I am putting together a show reel and my footage is 16.9 widescreen and some is 4.3 square. So I want to put the 4.3 into the same shape as the 16.9. Is there a way without stretching or cropping

Edit the 16:9 into a 4:3 sequence and it will letterbox. Stick some fancy graphics trickery or something over the letterbox area at top and bottom to mask it.

I have done something like this one once, duplicating the current video track over and over, shrinking them down and stacking in columns at each side. then I offset each one by a few frames, so they never show exactly the same thing. Firefox 4.0 is clunky with big ugly buttons. It looks bulky and busy. How do I keep 4.0 but with the look of the previous version? I have the default look and I don't want to add any backgrounds or any themes.

How can I keep itunes 7.7 in the system tray during sync

When I plug in my iphone to sync with Outlook, I DO NOT want itunes to pop-up. Its completely annoying and unecessary. Is there any way to configure itunes to quietly do its sync job without popping up?

I tried to put iCloud someplace where it would stay open while I used Safari for other purposes. Of course I used to be able to leave my email open while I used Safari. When I tried to send iCloud to Dashboard it gives me a message that Safari does not support that move. It says to update to the latest version. Of course I just updated everything a few days ago.

iCloud can't be moved to the Dashboard.
Try using tabs.
From the Safari menu bar click File > New Tab or Command + T on your keyboard.
Login to iCloud.com. You can keep that tab open as long as you like.
You can create a Bookmark for iCloud.com as well.
While in iCloud.com go to the menu bar click Bookmark > Add Bookmark
From the pop up menu select Bookmarks Bar
Very easy to access that way.
Another idea is to click the Reading List icon to the left of the Bookmarks icon.
Go to iCloud.com then click: Add Page
Just click the Reading Glass icon anytime to visit iCloud.com
