In ACS3.0 a userid is stuck in setup

When looking at my list of users in ACS, a recently created user appears. When I click on this userid to edit it comes up as USER (New User). None of the fiels are filled in. i.e. no password assigned, no description. My only choices are Submit and Cancel. If i cancel, I am back to having the partially created user in the list. To submit, I must, at minimum, fill in a password. If I fill in the password and description and Submit, I now see 2 users with the same name. No matter which of the 2 I click on, I now get the "filled in" userid. If I delete that one, I am back to only having the partially completed userid.

That does sound like a corrupted database. I had a similar problem with an older version of ACS. The solution was to erase and reinstall the database. However, do backup your current database before the reinstall.

  • I've backed up, download 7.0.4, and restored my iPad 2, but it is "stuck" in "setup" mode.  How do I move on to using the iPad?

I've added iOS 7.04 to my iPad, having backed up to iTunes, and have also restored it from iTunes.  But, the iPad is stuck in "set up" mode since restoring and doesn't allow me to move on to using the iPad.  How do I move on from "set up"?

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased.

  • Acer Laptop stuck at "Setup is Starting Services," can't move on AT ALL!

Hi! I've been having a serious issue with my Acer Aspire (Windows 7) laptop since around 3am last night. Before I go on, please note that I have been searching for solutions before posting this question, and none of what I've found matches my situation and/or
    solves the issue.
    SHORT VERSION:
    Issues:
-"Windows could not complete the installation. To install windows on this computer, restart the installation" error window keeps showing up, forcing me to click OK, and restart (causing same error over and over)
-After the above error, and another attempt to restore, this error shows "The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. Windows Installation cannot proceed. To install windows, click OK to restart the computer and then the
    installation."
-can't access login screen after continues restarts
-AtBroker.exe and Explorer.exe not running (and probably other important .exe as well?)
-None of the Safe Modes are accessible
    What I've done so far:
-begin restore process (not factory default! the process included backing up my files)
-continuous restart and encounter "Windows could not complete the installation. To install windows on this computer, restart the installation."
-F8 to start the "Last known good configuration," just led me back to the current issue.
-F8 to boot in Directory Services Restore Mode, went back to trying to install in Safe Mode, forced me to restart.
-F8 to disable automatic restart (failed and made me restart anyway)
-F8 to "Disable Driver Signature Enforcement"... also failed
NOTHING I've done has made any advancement past the "Setup is starting services."
    LONG VERSION
Last night, I was installing a new theme on my laptop (from a 3rd party on deviantart, but I was carefully following instructions to not mess anything up, using theme manager. however it's probably the reason for the issue) and everything was going well.
i had to restart occasionally to make sure the themes worked but on my final restart (after I decided I preferred a previous theme), everything went wrong! After logging in, the screen turned gray (it'd probably be black for others, but mine was gray maybe
due to the theme) and the cursor was there just flickering. And this continued for about 10 minutes before I tried opening task manager but that failed (said the .exe wouldn't start properly) so I shut it down (through ctrl+alt+del) and restarted.
Still same issue, but this time it said that AtBroker.exe and then explorer.exe were unable to run properly, preventing me from even seeing my desktop.
So today when I got home, I ended up going through the Acer eRecovery Management and doing a system restore (but it would keep my files, just restore the settings to how they were when my parents bought the laptop (summer-ish 2011)). It took a while and
it looked promising. Eventually, it took me to the screen with the Windows logo, then to a screen that said "setup is starting services"). And it gave me an error that it couldn't continue installation so it had to restart, so I clicked OK. It happened
again. Clicked OK and repeated that 2 more times until I got fed up. I just want to skip around that installation and try to access my desktop or at least Command Prompt but it won't let me get any further without making me restart (by clicking OK). I also
do not recall any disk when my dad set my laptop up but this was 2 years ago. I can't find one either, so I assumed Windows 7 came with it?
I really don't know what to do! Nor am I really tech savvy when it comes to fixing this kind of computer problem, so if anyone has any solutions, I wouldn't really know a lot of terms that would be important to know when it comes to fixing this issue. Hopefully,
someone can explain what's happening and how I can fix it fairly simply.
    Thanks!
    Olivia

    Hi Olivia,
Thanks for your structured and logical description.
It sounds really serious. According to my understanding, you can't start your computer normally.

  • Just downloaded ios 7.0.4 for my iphone4 and backed up before doing so. Now that it's been updated and restored I keep being asked to setup my iphone. When I select restore from itunes I keep getting stuck on setup iPhone. Cant get back in phone!

I backed up the phone and updated to ios 7.0.4 which took about 2 hours.  Now the phone powers on and says hello in different lagnuages and says to slide to setup.  I am asked to choose a network and then if I want to setup as a new iphone, restore from icloud or restore from itunes backup.  When I select restore from itunes the screen says "connected to itunes".  In itunes I select restore from backup however after a few seconds itunes says that it cannot restore beause there is not enough free space on the iphone.  During this attempt to restore I see the home screen and my screen saver and everything for a split second, then the phone powers off.
I see in itunes that all of my photos and data are still on the phone however I cannot get into the iphone.

Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPhone?
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after It shuts down, press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds).
    No data will be lost.

  • Windows 7 Install is stuck at "Setup is Starting"

    Hi,
I am attempting to install windows 7 x64 onto my pc and it hangs at the "Setup is Starting..." screen.  I waited for the screen to go away overnight but to no avail.
    My system's specs are:
    Phenom II x3 720 be
MSI 790GX-G65 Motherboard with integrated video and the latest bios
2 Gigs of ram (going to expand to 6)
640 gig Seagate sata hard drive in IDE mode
firewire and integrated audio have been disabled
usb enabled but usb compatibility mode disabled
no floppy drive and it has been disabled
    onboard lan has been disabled
There was an instance where the installation got past that screen and asked me to choose a drive to install but none were selectable.  I used seagates utility to set up the drive with ntfs but that didn't solve the issue.  Is there anything else that I should try?

Which DVD ROM are you using, also check the following thread where the installation process was very slow and
some changes in the BIOS related to HyperTransport solved the problem.
Your being the new Phenom II cpu, cannot say if this option is there in bios or not, just give it a try....

And you sure that the installation media is good.

  • Why does my iphone 5 get stuck in setup mode ?

    help

    Hi bhagath1339,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
The first troubleshooting steps I would recommend in this situation would be restarting and if the issue continues, resetting the iPhone.
Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
If the issue continues after restarting and resetting, it may be necessary to restore your iPhone to isolate software versus hardware. Please follow the attached article if you need assistance restoring the device.
Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings

  • Stuck on "Setup is starting windows"

Been at this for 3 days, no one at Apple support has encountered my problem, and haven't found a solution anywhere on the net. Here is the scenario:
Computer is a new iMac 20" 2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, with 4GB RAM, and using the included Boot Camp Assistant 2.0 that cam pre-installed.
After running Boot Camp, I chose to partition 32GB for the Windows installation. I have tried with 2 original personally purchased Microsoft authentic CDs (Microsoft just sent me the SP3 a few days ago). One is a new Windows XP Home Edition OEM Service Pack 3, the other is the same but Service Pack 2. Once Boot Camp prompts to insert the CD and I click to install, the iMac restarts, and I get the Windows Setup blue screen. Along the bottom I see how it starts loading all the preliminary drivers needed for installation, and then... and then.... "Setup is starting Windows" across the bottom white strip, and that's the end of it. I hear the CD stop spinning after 30 seconds, and nothing ever happens after that. No next screen to choose which partition to format or anything.
Both discs are in perfect conditions, no scratches or smudges or dirt. I tried using the newer SP3 disc on an older PC I have to see if it would reformat and re-install Windows on it and it worked perfectly. I didn't authenticate it since it will be probably scrapped later anyhow. So the disc works fine. A tech at Apple phone support advised me to try unplugging everything except the keyboard and mouse, that didn't work either.
I'm exhausted, and really have tried all my previous tech experience at no avail. Any kind sould who can actually respond with a workable solution will be greatly appreciated.

    SOLVED
Well, I'd like to thank all of you for your input. After much prayer and extensive search, I was finally able to install Windows XP SP3 on the new iMac. I kept the 32GB partition created by Boot Camp 2.0, but I did 2 things differently when trying to do it this time. The apple keyboard (since it is so short, really Apple, you had a usable length with the Pro models 10 years ago) was connected to a 6 foot USB extension cable to reach the back of the monitor. This is because the iMac is on a computer desk with a pull-out desk to place the keyboard and mouse. But I disconnected the extension, and plugged it direct this time. I didn't leave the Windows XP SP3 disc in this time, I just restarted, and while it restarted I pressed and held the OPTION key. An icon of just the "Macintosh HD" came up on the screen, at which time I inserted the Windows CD, a few seconds later, an icon for the CD appeared to the right of the Mac HD icon. I selected the CD, and again it went through loading drivers getting ready for windows setup, same as before. I cried out to the Lord, and YESSSSSSSSS, it finally asked me if I wanted to format a windows partition! Needless to say, it went through the entire process fine.
I didn't need to update to Boot Camp 2.1, sp3 is working fine. Installed and ran a few programs, connected to the internet, and so forth. Although I left the network connection to the internet disabled, don't want to use the Windows side for the net, too many virus problems possible.
I shut down the computer, re-connected the USB extension cable, and when I went into the Windows side, guess what? The mouse and keyboard locked up completely. I connected the apple keyboard direct again, and then I had control again. Using the USB extension cable on the Windows side is the only problem, because the Mac side works fine with it. This will be a new post because I really need the extra length because of the distance. But thanks to all.
    In God's Harmony,

  • Windows 7 Install Stuck at Setup is Starting.

First I had an issue with the installer sitting at blank picturesque background for about 30 minutes.  Then I finally got the first dialog box asking me for the language, etc.  I did all that and now the installer is hung at the Setup is Starting screen, with the cursor going, my HDD indicator going, but nothing, for a little over an hour.  Anyone have any ideas?
Not sure what kind of info might help, I'm trying to dual boot Win7 x64 on another partition, with WinXP x32 as my main system OS.

    Hi,
Do you have a floppy drive? If not, please disable any setting related to floppy in BIOS. Based on my known, floppy setting may cause similar issue.
