In address bar ip is resolving intead of domain name

Hi,
We have web chaining configured in TMG for the clients to access internet. The websites are resolving perfectly when Proxy IP is configured in IE on client system.
When we are testing internet access without proxy in IE, the websites are resolving to IP address instead of domain name.
Is there any settings/configuration to be done in TMG to fix this?

This is by design.
If you use TMG as a Proxy Server, the TMG will do the request on be-half of the client, whicn includes resolving the hostname and URL filtering can be applied. If your cient does not use the TMG as a Proxy Server and will only pass-through the TMG as a gateway,
the client will do DNS request themselves. TMG will only see a source and destination IP Address. The following applies:
If you use a Proxy Server you are connected as a Web Proxy Client. URL filtering is applied properly.
If you do not use a Proxy Server and pass-through the Proxy Server within a hop, you are connected as an SecureNAT Client. URL filtering cannot be applied to a SecureNAT Client.
The only way to force URL filtering, is by using a Proxy Server and require authentication. Only a Web Proxy Client can authenticate, a SecureNAT Client cannot authenticate and will be blocked.
I hope this makes more sense.

  • Single words in address bar don't resolve correctly...?

I think this is new in v4, as I don't recall having this problem in the past.
    Here's what I'm talking about.
If I enter "pandora" into the address bar Safari resolves that to http://pandora/, which is an ill-formed address and doesn't load pandora.com.
    This is just an example.
However, I think that in older versions of Safari, that single word would have resolved to the correct address for pandora.com.
    Anyone else seeing this?

    Hi
I think it may have more to do with the DNS codes your Internet Provider uses. Try adding these DNS codes -
Go to the System Preferences>Network panel
-Location - set up a personal location by clicking on the location drop down menu and selecting "add a location". Use a name familiar to you. Once established, select "apply".
-Next, click on the "Show" drop down menu and select Network Port Configurations. Depending on whether you use Ethernet or Airport (wireless) for your setup: Only Ethernet or Airport ought to be checked. Move it to the top of the list (you can drag it). Select "apply". Everything else ought to be unchecked unless you use a Bluetooth device.
-Back to the "Show" menu, select either "Ethernet" or "Airport" (whichever applies to you). Click on the TCP panel. There, enter (copy/paste on separate lines) 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220 in the DNS servers box - these are Opensource DNS codes.
When done, select OK, then "apply"
    restart Safari.

  • DNS - Can't resolve website address because it is the same as domain name:

Our internal users can't resolve a web address because their domain name is the same as the address.  I'm hoping I can get some advice on what I should do on the DNS server.  My first challenge is, when I look-up address on Arin.net it does not
come up with anything. CUAMERICA.COM is the domain.  I don't even know the ip address it is resolving to.

If I ping www.cuamerica.com I get 38.108.184.171, so in your DNS, in the Forward Lookup Zone for CUAMERICA.COM create a new Host (A) record, call it
www and give it the IP address of 38.108.184.171

  • With MobileMe Closed: How to forward iweb "web.me..." address to new FTP site and custom domain name?

I had a mobile me "web.me.com..." domain name and know I need to upload to a new FTP site with a new domain.  I know how to do that but am wondering...
Is there a way to forward my old web.me address to the new domain?  I'll probably be using GoDaddy's or 1&1 domain hosting.
There are many people who have my old web.me address and I won't be able to tell them the new address.  I don't want them to go away if they see the "mobile me closed" page and don't know where my new site is at.  I just want it to automatically forward.
    thanks

Its too late to do that as the forward would need to be on the Apple server and its closed now.
The best you can do is to sign up for hosting and get a domain name...

  • Firefox address bar interpreters any string as a domain if you have: dot string before it

I've tried addons (omnibar, foobar) that I expected would fix this issue, which is basically in this example:
website.com -> will be interpreted as a domain, which it should do.
program.callprocess -> will be interpreted as a domain, which it should not.
    But neither did that.
So I'm wondering if it is even possible or if this is something only Firefox devs can do?
EDIT: ironically here it is interpreted as it should.

You can disable keyword search (keyword.enable = false) and use a (one letter) keyword search for searching via the location bar.<br />
You can add a keyword to an installed search engine via Manage Search Engines (click the search engines icon on the search bar) and you can add a keyword to a bookmark in the Bookmarks Manager (Show All Bookmarks).
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Using_keyword_searches
That will allow to switch easily between search engines when you search via the location bar and there also is no problem with a one word search.

  • Safari address bar search behaviour

    Hi,
I am a recent convert to the Mac platform and since moving over I have experienced a number of problems with Firefox. The most marked problem is very poor flash video (YouTube) performance i.e. choppy & stuttering playback until entire video has been loaded, but overall it is slow and sometimes hangs (spinning ball) for no apparent reason.
I have tried Safari and have found it's performance to be wonderful compared to Firefox, and there are no problems with flash video. However I have some issues with the address bar search behaviour and I am wondering whether this is normal or not.
In Firefox, when I type something into the address bar, search results from history and bookmarks appear. The same thing happens in Safari, but it seems the only way to get a bookmark to appear is to type the actual domain address, not the name of the bookmark. Also, if a bookmark has a subdomain other than www, then that must be typed otherwise the address won't appear.
For example, if I have a bookmark as follows:
    Apple - Support - Discussions - Forum Home - http://discussions.apple.com/index.jspa
I can't bring that site up by typing apple, support or forum in the address bar, I have to type the subdomain name discussions in order for it to appear.
I am posting to ask whether this is normal behaviour and whether it can be changed so that address bar search can include the bookmark name as well as the domain name itself. Thanks for your help,

Yes, it's perfectly normal; and no, you can't change the behavior to recognize the page name of the actual URL. You can always send feedback to Apple and request that feature; they might actually do it sometime in the future. Use this URL:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html

  • Hiding .jsp name in the address bar

    hello ,
first i want to describe my problems.i have a .jsp file and i want to replace the .jsp name to another name in the address bar.
i want to hide the .jsp name in the address bar.
can u give an example code.then i understand more details.
    thanks

I'll give you an example of how this can be done in Tomcat and in essence it should apply to any servlet container.
Tomcat has a web.xml file in it's conf directory that decides the basic mappings etc for ALL webapps in this tomcat instance. Now, if you wanto to do this just for a particular webapp then edit the web.xml file for your webapp.
If you want to call your files /something.foo all you need to do is map this extension to the jsp servlet for interpretation. Otherwise it will be treated as a text file.
<!-- The mapping for the JSP servlet -->
    <servlet-mapping>
    <servlet-name>jsp</servlet-name>
    <url-pattern>*.foo</url-pattern>
    </servlet-mapping>
You can add all the mappings you want. All you're really doing is masquerading the .jsp extension.
Hope this is what you were looking for.

  • Can´t resolve domain names in the intranet

I am unable to see a site in my workplace's intranet because safari (and explorer) are unable to resolve the server domain name (//dbs01/login.asp/) and the most frustrating part is that the lamest PC connected to it can. I worked it around changing the dbs01 part for the ip number of the server (192.168.100.1xx) and was able to login to the site but as I click on any link my problem starts again because the javascript instructions redirect the browser to pages using the name "dbs01". How can I make it work?
This happens with airport as well as ethernet connection to the intranet

Updated info: I realized today, after doing some more digging, that when the Cisco Windows client is installed, it basically creates a new network adapter. When I go to that network adapter, and check the properties for TCP/IP, there are entries under DNS for my county's DNS server. So when I am connected with Cisco VPN using Parallels, I can access the internet no problem because the vpn client has DNS entries. But when I connect using the Mac version of Cisco, on the same laptop, while in Mac OS X, I can't go to an internet site unless I manually enter the IP address. So, I'm still needing help here. Is it a setting my county needs to change on the Cisco switch? They had mentioned to me that when connected with VPN, all regular internet traffic is routed through one's ISP. But that doesn't seem to be the case here...

Do you have that problem when running in the Firefox SafeMode?<br/> ''A troubleshooting mode.''<br />
You can open the Firefox 4.0 SafeMode by holding the '''Shft''' key when you use the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut. Or use the Help menu item, click on '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' while Firefox is running. <br />

    Hello Joannah,
Thank you for details of the issue you are experiencing with duplicates in Contacts after upgrading to OS X Mavericks.  I would be frustrated by this too.
If you have enabled iCloud Contacts, I recommend following the steps in the article below:

The question is why do you want to show the URL?
Faces apps don't change the url with each click (as the click might be going into a region).
Can you give us a use case? Do you use bounded task flows?
    JDev version?

  • First tab will not close and address bar in tab does not update.

The first tab and its address bar are not working as expected. I am unable to close the first tab using the close icon on the tab or by selecting close tab from right click menu.
I also find that the address bar when displaying the first tab does not display the current web address, only text that has been previously written into the address bar field.

While trying to figure out a solution, I removed my themes and I closed the tabs I could, then clicked on the new tab button, doing so changed my original tab into an (Untitled) tab and created a new (Untitled) tab. I then found I couldn't close either tab, I clicked on new tab again, got a third (Untitled) tab, which again I couldn't close. I then closed Firefox choosing not to save. This appears to have fixed the problem; however I do not know which of the above action(s) resolved it.

  • When typing in a search in the address bar i get redirected to a search assist by Teoma. How can i stop this

Normally when i type a subject into the address bar i get sent to a website that deals with that subject. For example if i typed in "Iron Man" in the address bar then i would be sent to a movie website with iron man details. Now when i type in a subject on the address bar i get redirected to a search assist website powered by Teoma. I haven't changed my default search and I've never even heard of Teoma so I really cant stand that i get redirected there. if i cant get rid of it then i am getting rid of firefox all together because that was the one feature that it had over internet explorer that really mattered to me. How do i change that

I believe I've figured this out. You probably don't have a virus and there may not be much you can do. What is probably happening here is that the DNS provided by your ISP is trapping the request and redirecting you to the teoma server (run by ask.com).
When you enter "flurdl" into the address bar, first the browser (& network stack) tries to resolve it as a host name into an ip address, by contacting the DNS server. If it resolves to an ip address, the connection proceeds. If DNS replies there is no such host, the browser passes it onto your search provider to perform a search.
Your ISP has cut a deal with teoma such that when there is no host, instead of returning that, they return the teoma address. Your browser connects to that address and teoma returns its search page. So your browser never realizes it needs to search; it thinks it hit a valid page.
Why do they do this? Because the search engine gets paid for the "preferred" entries in the search result.
Your options are probably twofold: 1) don't search from the address bar, use the search bar instead. 2) Find another more honest DNS provider and configure it explicitly in your network settings.

  • Conduit search has taken over my address bar.

If I type anything into the address bar, links to bing searches for websites come up. If I make an error in the address, I am sent to bing.
Virus scan finds no issues. Ad-aware puts a Win32 file in quarantine, but it doesn't have an impact on the address bar issue. I have NO add ons, toolbars, or winzip software on my computer.
I followed the directions here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/919624 and my problem was resolved for a few days, now it is back. I haven't downloaded anything new but my computer ran two automatic updates.

Do you display the built-in Firefox search bar? Generally speaking the address bar follows your selection there. By default, the selection is Google (you'll see the lower-case g on a blue square).
To reset your search providers back to their defaults (i.e., Google), you also can use this extension as a one-step solution:
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/searchreset/
And just in case you didn't explore all the categories on the Add-ons page -- which you can access using either:
    * Ctrl+Shift+a
    * orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
-- make sure to click Extensions in the left column to check for any "Community Toolbar" add-ons which generally are created by Conduit.
    Any improvement?
