In Adobe Reader 10.1.4 my signatures are valid, in version 11.0.10 they are not?

I have a PDF document with two signatures.
If I open it in Adobe Reader 10.1.4 the signatures are ok.
If I open the same document in Adobe Reader 11.0.10 the first signature is marked invalid: "Document has been altered or corrupted since it was signed".
Does anybody understand why this is?
I have the feeling this is a bug in Adobe Reader 11.
Thanks,
Corné
You can find the PDF here: WeTransfer

Can you please try repairing the application from the Control Panel.
Also, could you please let me know if this issue was happening with Reader 10.1.3 as well.

  • Cannot install Adobe Reader 11.0.09  and Asian Fonts over older versions

I'm using a script to install Adobe Reader 11.0.09 and it works sometimes, but very often, there is an error saying it cannot install it because a previous version exists.
We have to manually uninstall older versions of Adobe Reader 11 and then re-run the script and then it works.
    @echo off
    cls
    start /wait msiexec.exe /i \\appserver1\Apps\AdobeReader\11.009\AcroRead.msi /qb TRANSFORMS="\\appserver1\Apps\AdobeReader\11.009\AcroRead.mst"
    start /wait msiexec.exe /i \\appserver1\Apps\AdobeReader\11.009\fonts\FontPack11009_XtdAlf_Lang.msi /qb
How can we change this script so that it will force installation over any previous version?
By the way, the installation was created with Adobe Customization Wizard and has settings enabled to remove any previous versions of Adobe Reader.  So, the problem with installing over existing version could be from the Font Pack installation,

What does the verbose installation log say?

  • Adobe Reader 9, Form Fields, Digital Signature

I have already posted this in Adobe Reader forum and had no replies... probably the wrong area...
We are a software company and we are developing a simple application, as follows:
Any number of pdf documents are provided by a third party (our customer / customers). Each form contains any number of fields and a digital signature field.
Our application must fill the fields with values obtained by a back-end database
Using Adobe Reader 9, our application must display each pdf document filled in step 2, for users to sign using a Topaz tablet.
The "blank", original pdf document can be easily completed by hand and signed using the Topaz tablet - thanks to the Adobe Reader plug-in.
Also, we can quite easily fill all the doument's fields using the popular iTextSharp libraries - we extract relevant data from our back-end database, we set the field values, and we display the document in Adobe Reader 9 (note that after filling the form, we have experimented with "flattened" and "non-flattened" documents....with the same results)...
Here we start having some problems:
As soon as the "filled" document is displayed in Adobe Reader, the message "This document enables Reader capabilities that are no longer enabled in this Reader version." is displayed. And the signature field is disabled and the Topaz plug-in is never invoked.
It seems that the simple task of programmatically filling the form with data.... disable the most important feature of the form (the signature line).
Unfortunately, my knowledge of the Adobe product line is somewhat limited....
After hours of research I think I understand why (even though I find the behavior incredibly strange and restrictive). I still would like, if possible, summary and clear information on what we (and/or the provider of the pdf forms) need to do to accomplish the goal of our application.
Thanks in advance for any suggestion.
    Giorgio

    jmo here
In context of your description, use of Acrobat Pro to "enable" PDFs for use by Adobe Reader appears to be contrary to the Acrobat EULA (if nothing else, the "500" limit for forms).
If that's the case then I suspect your only option would be LiveCycle ES.
Back down the Forum's timeline, someone mention $50K for a seat.
But LC ES has many variations (modules if you will) so the price point may be higher.
Basically, it is expensive (although worth the $$ to the IRS and other large entities).
Worth noting are the posts in this forum that allude to Adobe's legal actions taken against those who have, it seems, violated the Acrobat EULA.
If your client(s) are associated with a corporate entity they may be exposed to legal "road hazards"; but, that's speculative, eh?
Regardless, it does sort of appear that you may be on thin ice vis-a-vis "enable" of PDFs for use by Adobe Reader.
    Be well...

  • Browser-embedded Adobe Reader doesn't permit ink signatures

I'm not sure if this is a feature, a bug or just an annoyance, but we are unable to apply ink signatures to a PDF displayed within a browser window. The same PDF displayed in a standalone Adobe Reader 9 window will allow for ink signatures to be applied to it. Why can documents in browser windows not be ink signed?
This is problematic for us because we are deploying a web-based application which collects a signature on a PDF form, which then contains a button to proceed to the next step and save the form on the server. Using Adobe Reader standalone to view and sign the PDF breaks the functionality of the form and prevents the form being saved correctly.
Colleagues developing the application report that it works successfully using a plugin for a singature pad, but we are using a tablet PC (motion C5) with a pen to apply the ink signature. There does not appear to be a plugin for this. However, we know we can apply ink signatures in standalone Adobe Reader, we simply want the same functionality in the browser-embedded window.
So far, all suggestions we have received involving buying either alternative hardware or alternative software. Neither is very helpful. Can anyone suggest a fix or workaround using Adobe Reader? Thanks.

i don't remember how it was formulated exactly. there was no printing option found. that was on my other computer (with XP). but on Windows 7 it won't even open, i'm not even talking about printing, because i wouldn't know. the window simply blank, inactive  and immediately closes. online documents load....and in the end just black window or blank Reader page. In IE it gives me "There is a problem with Adobe Acrobat/ Reader. If it is running, please exit and try again (15:3)" - every time...

This is not a function of Reader, but that your computer does not seem to be configured to play mp3 files. Try fixing your file associations. The method of doing so depends upon your OS and it version number.

  • Adobe Reader Updater Pop Ups on Mac are Daily & Annoying!

My Adobe Reader Updater Preferences are set to null - no reminders needed. YET, I get these pop ups reminding me that another update is ready. Daily! It interrupts my work, as on a Mac I see two icons jumping up and down in the apps bin until I respond. VERY DISRUPTIVE, Adobe! Stop it! Someone please tell me how to address these ridiculous, voluminous update pop ups. Thank you so much for your assistance.

Your Reader app needs to be updated.
    Download the offline installer: http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
Save it, but don't run it yet.
    Go to: Mac HD/Applications
Trash the Reader 11 Application from there
    Go to: MacHD/library/Internet Plugins
    Trash the AdobePDFviewer.plugin from there
    Trash the AdobePDFViewerNPAPI.plugin also
    Empty the trash
Mount the DMG and run the installer to reinstall Reader
When it finishes, reboot and open Reader from the Applications folder
Accept the License Agreement and then close Reader
