In AIR 2.0, convert WAV recorded with Microphone class to MP3

I can record audio files with the new Microphone class in Adobe AIR 2.0, but I'm wondering how to convert the WAV files to MP3 or some other compressed format in Flex.  Thanks!

There is a specific AIR 2 forum:
http://forums.adobe.com/community/labs/air2/
You could get much better support over there.

  • Need help recording with microphone!

Ok, I laid down all my electric guitar tracks for my song, everything went great, and the M Audio Fast Track USB box worked great. The trouble started when I tried to mic an acoustic guitar. I have a Shure SM58 that has a 1/4 inch plug, which I plugged into the guitar input of the box (I don't have an xlr cable to plug it into the mic plug). Even when I turned the ouptut and the gain switches on the top all the way up I barely got a signal for the track. I got enough to tune the guitar but it would'nt make much of a waveform when I recorded. In the info panel I chose Acoustic Guitars, then Bright, and set the Input Source to Mono 2 (Fast Track) and the Monitor to On. The recording level meter is grayed out and inactive so I can't move that up. Is there something I'm doing wrong? Do I have to get an xlr for the mic to work with the Fast Track box?
I also tried laying down some vocals and got the same problem. Ugh. Any ideas?

  • HT3819 How do I convert WAV files in iTunes Library to MP3?

I have a SwiMP3 device that plays music through headphones while I swim.  It only accepts MP3 files and many of the files in my iTunes library are WAV files.  How do I convert these to MP3?  Thanks, David T

In your iTunes, set Edit/Preferences/Import Settings to MP3. Then highlight the song you want to convert and click on Advanced/Create MP3 version. A second version of the song will now appear in your Library.

  • Static when recording with microphone

Posting from my new iPad 2. Has anyone else had issues with the microphone? Whenever I record from any app there is tons of static when playing it back.

So I am one more joining the group . after "thinking" about it , reading some stuff from the internet and doing some tries , these are what i have figured out .
Please note that these are not solutions , they are thoughts and might be 100 % wrong.
    1) The The front-facing camera assembly includes the camera, headphone jack, and microphone and passes just exactly underneath the magnets from the smart cover. (please if possible each one with the issue verify that you own a smart cover) .. after reading not sure if I was reading @ the correct sites , i have found out - understood that the wires from microphones are protected with a magnetic shield.
So , i think , I had faulty magnetic shield at those cables and with the smart cover the issue came up - p.s. my microphone worked fine for some days .
    2) I did some restores .. at my first restore -set up as new - i opened the camera app to video record and test the mic by talking , I did not hear my voice , but I was not hearing the static noise either. 2nd restore I think the sound is worse than the first time i spotted the issue . 3rd restore is being done at the moment so if there is something new I will post again. - So could it be firmware wise ? If yes, how come it worked for some days ?

  • Logic 9 Recording with Microphone

    Hey can anyone help me?
I'm using logic 9 on an iMac and want to record in audio tracks - guitar and voice. I have no mixing desk but I use a "jack splitter" I've done it before but now cannot remember how? Anyone got any advice or a walkthrough of how to do it?
    Cheers

Perhaps you could be a little clearer with your terms; what is a "jack splitter"? I assume that it's a two-into-1 mono jack - stereo jack thingy but I might be wrong. If it is indeed that then why are you having any problems?
Without an interface it would not be possible to record external sources in Logic. However, your simple jack-input socket on your Mac is an interface.
If you set the Input Device in System Preferences and Logic Preferences to Built-In Mic, then this is what will be used to record you and your guitar. If you set it to Built-In Input then whatever you plug in to the input on your Mac (assuming that it's a cable connected to a guitar, microphone or some other audio source), will be recorded by Logic.
To be honest, a nice little 4-track would be more suitable for your needs. Or perhaps GarageBand.

  • Line-in recording with microph

    Greetings all
I have MuVo Micro mp3 player with line-in connector.
To use it for recording with microphone you need a pre-amped microphone.
I have one, battery powered electred condensor microphone, which I succesfully used before with MD-player (over line-in too). But it does not go with the Creative mp3 player. I do not know why?
Can you tell me if I need to switch an additionally amplifier between the line-in connector and the microphone or is there any other battery powered microphone to buy which will go with Creative mp3 player?
    Thanks for any apply
    Patrick

And that goes for playback too. No sound through speakers using the Line-in unless the red buttoned mutes are turned of in Audio Creation mode. That doesn't seem right. Playback from the Line-in should work from any mode. Am I doing something wrong?

Is there a pattern to the time of day or other detail that may be
traced back to a OS X system cause of this odd phenomenon?
Are there any copies of system files on any of the attached USB
external drives? Any libraries, such as iTunes, iPhoto, etc?
Once the drives are indexed by Spotlight, are their permissions
ignored by the OS X? Content, if neutral, should not affect the
wake or sleep cycle; especially if they're ignored by the OS X.
Could there be a bad cable or other component? If so that would
be a difficult process of elimination to detect it. Usually replacing
most suspect components in the USB stream (external to Macs)
is a rote way to mechanically test that idea; & not 100% sure.
Does the equipment all have a good ground to the utility or house
electrical field? An intermittent ground may affect more than sleep.
Hard to say at this point. Maybe a late-night talk radio guru on
remote viewing could peer into your situation and sleuth it out?
Sorry to have run out of ideas, but the process must be electrical
& mechanical to some extent. - Or perhaps odd software inspired.
Do you have any phone-home spyware items inside, just jumping
at the chance to spill your information? Little Snitch may help.
PS: Perhaps the computer needs to go into Apple & have a genius
or product specialist at AASP test the unit thoroughly... BlueTooth?

  • PROBLEM AXIOM AIR 61 IN LOGIC, DON'T REPRODUCE SOMETIMES THE TRACK RECORDED WITH AXIOM AIR 61

I have some problems working on LogicX, cuz when i play the track that i recorded with the AXIOM AIR 61, sometimes don't sound nothing, and then when i put play again it sound the track, the think is that the LogicX. I don't know if it's a driver problem o something like that. Need Help Urgent!

Folks.... I eventually solved the problem so if anyone else is interested here is the solution.
The Axiom DirectLink for Logic/Garage band: Axiom_DirectLink_For_Logic_OSX_1_0_0-3.dmg
Should install a file called Axiom.bundle in the directory
    MacintoshHD/Library/Application Support/MIDI Device Plug-ins/Axiom.bundle
In my case (see above) the file had successfully installed to that location.  However, for some peculiar reason the permissions on the folder had been changed - current admin and users could not read or write.  I have no idea how that happened.  In any event, despite the fact that the file had been installed, when Logic was opened I was unable to see the Axiom as an available control surface to install.
I reset the permissions and the problem was solved!
It's only taken me a week to get there but now happy that it's OK.  The Axiom612 isn't cheap!
I hope this helps someone else.

  • How to convert audio files with caf extension to wav

    Hi all!
I have some audio files with .caf extension that I need to convert to wav. How can I do that?
    Any batch audio converter around?
    Thanks!

Try "Easy CAF Converter for Logic Pro" on the Mac App Store.
    According to an app description,
"The Easy CAF Converter for Logic Pro automatically converts Apple Loops installed with Logic Pro 9 and X to uncompressed audio formats (aiff and wave).
With the Easy CAF Converter for Logic Pro, musicians using other major DAWs (e.g., Cubase, ProTools, Ableton Live, and Studio One, etc.) can now easily use the rich set of apple loops of Logic Pro in their music productions."

  • Does anyone know how movies recorded with torrents convert such a way that would see them through Apple TV. Thanks in advance.

Friends! Does anyone as movies recorded with torrents broadcast via apple TV. In iTunes, they are not all copied. Maybe they can somehow transform or there is a way to bypass iTunes broadcast on TV. They are viewed on a computer in vlc player.

    Ann154,
You were correct again.  I deleted everything I had done to date and re-did the entire SMS backup of my 28 message conversation again and YES I was able to open it using IE-8.  It looks great and it prints great and life is good!  I am going to go make a donation.
Thanks again for the help.  I marked this thread as answered by you.

  • Converting WAV files to AAC  Error convert Can't read from or write to disk

For several weeks I had no problem converting WAV files (from an Olympus Digital Recorder) to AAC format in iTunes, then one day I clicked "Convert Selection to AAC" and received the message "Error occured while converting the file. The disk could not be read from or written to." There is no Error # associated with the Error message.

I recently spent over 14 hours converting all my CD songs to WAV. WAV conversion was the only one of two options available with my older Nero software, and MP3 conversion was not an option. I intended to make mixed CD's. By the time I was done, I had over 300 songs that take up over 17 GB in this WAV format.
The thought of sitting even more endless hours making these CD's made me even more exhausted, and I realized that I should get with the times and get an MP3 player. So, I bought an iPod directly from Apple two days ago (12/16), and get this, MaclessInAZ, the sales person told me that I all my WAV files could be imported into my iPod with iTunes. (!!!)
I am very glad to have read this thread before I got my iPod. I would have been so upset if there was no easy solution. My new iPod is supposed to be delivered tomorrow, and I am looking forward to getting it. Many thanks to weavercs for the information on the Switch program that converts WAV to MP3. Even if I decide to buy the full version of Switch, it is a lot less expensive than other conversion programs that I just found online, like Roxio.

  • How to convert WAV to FLAC

    Hi!
I have this problem, that I don't know how to convert my recorded Wave into FLAC format. Is there any way I can do it easily?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I'm trying to use the System Exec, but i get a quite annoying error:
C:\Programs is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.
While I try to use command:
    C:\Users\xxxxx\Documents\LabView Projects\flac.exe -f abc.wav
I also got this VorbisEnc.dll for FLAC encoding, but I have no idea how to use the .NET connectivity tools to use it (or maybe else - I don't know what arguments should I pass to the dll to get the conversion). Anyone has some experience with stuff like this?
    http://speedy.sh/2ywwY/VorbisEnc.dll
The flac.exe was downloaded from here:
    http://sourceforge.net/projects/flac/files/flac-win/flac-1.2.1-win/
Thank You for help in advance!

  • Stereo Recording with SB128 PCI at Line-In Po

    Hello everybody,
I connected my stereo amplifier to the line-in port of my sound card SB28 PCI for recording some phono discs. Although I can hear the STEREO sound at the desktop speakers while playing, the wave recorder (NERO wave editor) only produces MONO tracks. The preferences of my wave editor are configured correctly. My operatiing system is WinXP prof.
Does anybody know how to solve the problem? Thank you!

Windows Sound recorder has a number of settings you can change to record in stereo.
From the "File" menu select "Properties" and click on the "Convert Now" button. This should let you change to a stereo format with a higher sampling rate.

  • Recording fios tv to DVD recorder with tivo/fios cablecard

ok this post is for my dad....and if ur thinking why the hack does he want a dvd recorder when they already have a tivo...don't ask my dad is kinda weird he still "tapes" shows on VHS tapes using vcr, and tapes radio shows on cassettes....then again he also still pyas his bills with a pen, a check and the us postal service.....
anyway, I didn't know much about the world of dvd recorders before a couple days ago, so I have a few questions before and if I actually decide to get him one.
Question 1: we currently have an HD TV with an HD tivo connected and a multistream verizon fios cablecard. My question is regarding copyright limitations....what prevents you from just recording any tv program onto dvd, as you still can onto a VHS? and what percentage of the channels/shows have this protection? like would he only be able to record from the original 12 or so broadcast channels? this is my main concern....he watched a lot of the sports channels like espn espn2 golf channel nbatv etc....
Question 2: also, when doing my research I thought of another benefit a dvd recorder may have. I have been putting all the family home videos which are on vhs onto dvd, but it's a bit of a process. I use an external usb capture device made by Hauppage hooked up to the VCR then the computer captures it realtime and generates an mpeg video file on my hard drive, THEN I have to spend the 1 or 2 hours it takes to convert to DVD format and burn with Nero so it can be played on a regular DVD player......so....question being....
can a standalone DVD recorder hook up to a VCR to transfer video direct to a DVD, or do you have to buy a DVD recorder with a built in VHS deck?
Question 3: oh and someone once told me that you can only play the recorded DVD's on the recorder, and not other regular DVD players...I couldn't believe this was actually true...but was he right?
    TIA!

    Answers:
Question 1: if the DVD recorder is connected to the TIVO there shouldn't be anything prohibiting him from recording. The signal sent out from the TIVO is an unencrypted feed that can be processed by anything (TV, VCR, DVD recorder, ETC). As long as theres no restrictions within the DVD recorder itself, you should be fine to record anything. This also means you have to record realtime (press play on TIVO and record on the DVD recorder and wait the amount of time for the event to end before pressing stop)
Question 2: You would need to talk to the tech support for your DVD recorder. Its going to depend on what types of video streams and formats it will accept as a source
Question 3nce again this is a question for the DVD recorder tech support, not Verizon. It depends on the file format that the recorder saevs the file as. Not only that, but different players also can read different formats. So you have to take a look at the recorder and the dvd play back device
