In aperture 3.4.5, I get unsupported file error when exporting version of photo I've edited using plugins. I have try reinstalling aperture three times, deleting plists a few times, reinstalling plugins, restarting my MacBook Pro many times. Everything I've tried may fix the problem for a very short while and I can export a few photos before it returns. The problem happens with topaz and photomatrix pro plugins after I edited and try to export version.
I had the same problem with the Photomatix plug-in and this solved it for me. I realised it only happened with Photomatix and not other plug-ins so I checked where the plug-ins were installed. The Photomatix plug-in was installed in
~/Library/Application Support/Aperture/Plug-Ins/
where ~ is the home location for the current user account. All the other plug-ins however were installed in
Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Aperture/Plug-Ins/
which is the location that makes them available to all user accounts on your Mac. Moving the Photomatix plug-in to this location solved the problem for me.
Note that the Library directory under the first location is normally hidden, to get to it hold down the Option (Alt) key and select it from the Finder Go menu.

Have you tried to export different images as a test to see if it is related to the one you are getting the error on? Also try to export to a different folder other then the Desktop, again to see if the problem is connected to that folder.
Another thing to do is run the Aperture Library First Aid on the library. Hold the option and command keys down while you start Aperture. First run the Permission Repair and see if that helps. If not quit Aperture and restart and run the Library Repair and try.

Unsupported file error when uploading video file to iTunes U
I downloaded one of my video file and remove the track afterwards. However, when I trying to reload the video files back to the site again, I got "Unsupported File" error for some of them. My files are withing 50MB ~ 500 MB range, codec of H.264 and AAC.
Any suggestions/Could someone please give some suggestions? I've been stuck with these "Unsupported File" for a week...

I hook up my iphone, windows recognizes it as a "camera device", and I am trying to move my photos from it into one of my desktop folders, and I keep getting an error!!!! ???

Also have you tried to just browse to the phone from My Computer, locate phone as a camera and just drill down into the folders and copy off the images (or cut/paste) -

Sorry, but do you mean filename - not sure what file number you refer to?
For Filename, on the View menu ensure that Details and Show File Names are both checked. You may have to make the size of the thumbnails slightly larger (using the slider on the top of the windows) as the information can't be displayed if thumbnail too small.

Over the last couple of weeks we have been getting unsupported file error when we try and import photo's to iphoto from our camera. The files are jpg's and it has only been happening since 2009. All our other photos (6,000) seem to be fine.
Any advise appreciated.It means that your other library has some form of corruption.
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the apple and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild.
If that doesn’t help:
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

Video upload generating "unsupported file" error
Hi,
Today we're getting "unsupported file" error msg at the end of the video file uploads.
We are uploading the same type .mp4 with apple mp4compresson as we have previously without any changes.I am having the same problem with .MP3 files. I even tried uploading a file that I had already uploaded last week and I got the same "unsupported file" error. The only thing that seems to have changed is the "Upload and Manage Files" interface and now nothing will upload. If there is any Apple people that could look into this it would be nice. I am also posting for a school, Santa Monica College.

I backed up my bookmarks to an external drive, rebuilt my system, and now when I try to restore from that file, I get "unsupported file type" How can I restore from this file?
Make sure that the backup file with the bookmarks has the correct file extension: .html for a HTML backup and .json for a JSON backup.<br />
You can check that via the right-click context menu of that file and open the Properties.<br />
If you are not sure about the file type then you can open the file in Firefox via "File > Open File"<br />
A JSON backup will show as one long text line without line breaks and a HTML backup as a web page with clickable links.<br />
A JSON backup starts with: {"title":"","id":1,"dateAdded":<br />
An HTML backup starts with: <nowiki><!DOCTYPE NETSCAPE-Bookmark-file-1></nowiki>
You may need to add quotes ("") around the name to rename the file to the correct file extension.

my raw files go to unsupported file format when I load them in. Sony RX 100 camera shooting RAW had for one year. Never happened before.
Can only load the files in by running them trhough Adobe Camera RAW first and loading them as TIFFS into Aperture. JPEGs form the Sony load into Aperture just fine. Already tried that multiple times...no luck. I'm wondering though if it might be related to metadata as you suggest. I'm still trying different things to see what happens.
I was able to alleviate the problem on one set of images by painstakingly searching my external drive for the oldest backups I could find - CR2 files from before DNG conversion. I then ran those through DNG Converter and tried importing them again (this time, I embedded NO thumbnail, but I'm not sure if that made the difference - I think it was more likely a fluke in the original conversion that caused the problem). This time, it worked.
Now, the big problem is that I still have a couple hundred images for which I can't seem to locate the original CR2 files. I don't typically keep them after conversion, as I don't have the space for both. -

How are you exporting? If you are dragging the image out of Aperture you get the preview, you are not exporting the version.
If you are exporting then the most likely reason for what you see is the setting on the Quality slider. Remember JPG images are compressed and you will always see a difference between the original and the exported JPG.

Every time I try to create a new button I get "photoshop file error -1"
I'm creating a BluRay set of discs. I'm on number 4 and there will probably be 12. I use the previous discs as a template for the new ones to save huge amounts of time. I haven't had an issue till I opened my project today. Usually I right click on a menu, edit it in photoshop, save it back in, and then I right click the new elemnts and turn them into buttons. I've made dozens of menus like this. Then today I get "photoshop file error -1" that pops up every time I try to make something into a button. I deleted the menu I was working on and used a different menu to rebuild it but I get the same problem. I then opened the photoshop file and saved it to a different location outside the project and then imported it into Encore. Same problem once I tried to make buttons. I also tried trashing the preferences. No Luck. I really need to get this working. It has completely destroyed my ability to get this job done. Ideas anyone?
If it helps, I am on a Mac running OS X 10.9.1. Encore is version CS5.1.I thought there ought to be way to add buttons from the Encore library, but I don't think we found one.
Best case: add menu from the library with buttons like what you want. Change background etc.
I like working that way rather than adding things within Encore.
Worst case: add a menu with the buttons you want; "edit in photoshop" and also "edit in photoshop" your menu; copy paste to your menu.
You can also directly open library menus; add buttons etc from the encore library folders. I would make a copy of them first. Encore imports a menu from the library to your project; it is never working on its master copy. -

Can you confirm that your profile includes all required data, specifically, the dDocTitle? Fix this issue, then re-check your logs. if there are other missing required parameters, fix each one.

Starting in 2015 I get the following error when I try to import my photos. "The following files were not imported because they could not be read" -DSC8416.NEF I've been importing the same type of photos with no errors then 2015 came along and now I can no longer import.
The error message is misleading, the problem is that you need WRITE privileges added to the destination directory tree.
Assuming you are using the "date" structure that LR defaults to, find the directory that contains the 2014 folder (the one that works) and add WRITE rights to the parent of "2014".
While you are there, if you want, add "2015" folder to beside "2014" and add READ and WRITE rights to that new directory.
