In app purchase within family sharing program

My problem: I bought the app Marine Traffic for my ipad. My wife uses this app too within the family sharing program. Now I made an in-app purchase for this app (route planner) but my wife cannot use this in-app purchase on her ipad. When I want to buy it a second time on her ipad I get the message, that in-app purchases are not possible for her app. What can I do, to get the in-app featture on her ipad too???

Is it exactly the same app, and it was bought by the same account that you are using ? If it is and it was (and it's not a temporary store holding charge) then try the 'report a problem' page to contact iTunes Support : http://reportaproblem.apple.com
If the 'report a problem' link doesn't work then you can try contacting iTunes Support via this page : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption

  • Transferring app purchase via family sharing between Mac Pro

We both are using OS X 10.9.5 Mac Pros.
We are both signed up for "family sharing" with him being a "parent".
One of us made a purchase in app store.
How can I find his purchase and download on my  Mac?

You can't. Family Sharing is not supported in Mavericks. Upgrade to Yosemite when it's released.

  • How do i approve my kids app purchases with family share

how do i approve my kids app purchases with family share on my iphone?

    Hello andrewmarkp,
With Family Sharing, you can approve purchases with the Ask To Buy feature. The following article provides helpful information:
Family purchases and payments - Apple Support
Approving purchases with Ask to Buy
You can turn on Ask to Buy to require approval for purchases initiated by any family member who is under 18 years old.*
    iOS 8
Tap Settings > iCloud > Family, and tap your family member's name.
    Turn on Ask to Buy.
    OS X Yosemite
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences > iCloud.
Click Manage Family and select your family member's name.
    Select Ask to Buy.
Ask to Buy is enabled by default for any children under 13 years old, and can be enabled during the setup process for any children 13-17 years old.* You can't turn on Ask to Buy for adults.
If you don't wish to be billed for purchases initiated by a specific adult family member, you can remove that family member from the family group.
*Ages may vary by country or region.
Family Sharing requires a personal Apple ID signed in to iCloud and iTunes. Music, movies, TV shows, and books can be downloaded on up to 10 devices per account, five of which can be computers. iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite are required to set up or join a Family Sharing group and are recommended for full functionality. Not all content is eligible for Family Sharing. Content can be hidden by family members; hidden content is not available for download. Content downloaded from family members or acquired via redemption codes is not subject to Ask to Buy.
Thank you for contributing to Apple Support Communities.

  • How can a parent restrict a child's access to a PARENT'S PRE-EXSISTING iTunes account via iCloud's Family Sharing Program?

How can a parent restrict a child's access to a PARENT'S PRE-EXSISTING iTunes account via iCloud's Family Sharing Program?  To explain further... I have a young son who is on my iCloud family sharing program... I am excited to be able to share SOME of my music in my iTunes library, but there are some songs and music videos that are not age appropriate for him and currently there is no way to restrict him from viewing and downloading anything off of my iTunes library.  Yes, I suppose I can delete the songs he shouldn't have access to, but I don't think I should have to do that... I paid for them and still like them and listen to them while I work out or am without my kids.  Is there a way for me to personally select which songs/videos I would like to "hide" from my children in an effort to shield them from inappropriate content?

    Hello ggg39,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that you have some content in your iTunes library that you would like to restrict access for the child set up on Family Sharing with you. To do this, you can set restrictions on the child’s device as described in the attached article.
    Family Sharing - Apple Support
Now kids under 13 can have their own Apple IDs. As a parent or legal guardian, the family organizer can create an Apple ID for a child and add the child to the family group automatically. Ask to Buy is turned on by default, and the organizer can also limit the content kids have access to on their devices through Restrictions on an iOS device or parental controls in OS X and iTunes.
For more information on restrictions and how to set them up, please reference the next attached article.
About Restrictions (parental controls) on iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support

  • HT201454 How do you handle family members outside the household being a part of the Family Sharing program?  I don't want them using my credit card for itunes and/or apps on their phones - just want to be able to share pictures/videos.

Wanted to include my sister and parents in the Family Sharing group under the iCloud app, but I don't want them using my credit card for their purchases.  We just wanted to be able to share pictures and/or videos and find each other, if necessary.  Is there a way around my card being the default for them when they go to purchase something?

If you don't want your sister to make purchases on your credit card, then Family Sharing is not an appropriate way to do what you want. You can use Find my Friends to locate each other and you can use Shared Photo Streams to share photos.

  • Cannot share Free App with my Family Sharing members

I am using iPhone 5s and bought iWork App (Pages, Number and Keynote) for free while iOS 7 launch in 2013.  Recently, I upgraded to iOS 8 and enabled the "Family Sharing" with my wife.  However, my wife who is using iPhone 5 with iOS 8 could not find the iWork Apps from her purchased list.  How could I share these apps to her?

You can share your connection to the Internet, PROVIDED, you have different medium to share it on.
Example: Your computer is connected via Ethernet cable. You can share your connection via WiFi.
IF your computer is already connected via WiFi, it makes no sense to attempt to share via WiFI -- just use the WiFi directly on your Phone. If the other devices are too far away, move your Router closer to them.

  • Unable to download "Not Shareable" app on their own from the App Store once Family Sharing enabled

    iOS 8.0.2 iPhone 6
I finally decided to take advantage of Family Sharing and it has (unfortunately) created a few problems in trying to solve others.
Apparently there are Apps deemed "Not Shareable" (see image below).
These Apps will not appear in the Purchased list of your Shared Family member; which makes sense even though I do not understand why it is so…especially Free apps.
However, the problem is the App Store itself is also affected by the Purchased History. This results in "Free" and "Buy" buttons of all Apps (purchased previously by your family member) being replaced with download from the cloud buttons even though you have not ever purchased the app with your Apple ID.
You will then get the following error every time you try and download the "Not Shareable" App from the App Store directly (as an independent purchase):
In other words, for example, the Amazon App is a free app but it is labeled "Not Shareable." Fine, I would like to buy it on it's own with a my Apple ID from the App Store (independently of whatever my family members bought). I cannot! I will get the above error every time. A work around is using a desktop and iTunes but it didn't work the first time…so keep trying. And Apple, please help/fix ASAP!

Thanks for the responses.  I actually ended up turning off Family Sharing because I found this to be really annoying, and for other reasons.  I was able to download Uber for my wife from iTunes on her PC laptop with Automatic App Downloads turned on on her iPhone.
The other problem I'm having, and the reason I switched off Family Sharing, is with store credit.  I have a lot of gift card credit on my account, but when my family makes purchases, the gift card credit is not deducted first before charging my card.  Not sure if there is a way to change that but I couldn't figure it out.

  • Icloud password loop when declining an ask to buy purchase using family sharing

My daughter asked to buy an app using family sharing. I received the notification on my phone and when I hit decline, it asks for my icloud password. When entered, it asks continuously and will not finalize declining the purchase. Same process on my wife's phone. We were able to approve a purchase, just not decline one.
    Help please.
I am using a 4s, my daughter and wife both have 5cs. All running iOS8 with family sharing set up.

    Thank you Ms. SJ!!!!
I was having this problem with my youngest daughters account.  Your post about establishing the payment history apart from family sharing made a lot of sense.  My oldest daughter has had an account for some time that she had been adding iTunes gift cards to, so her account was "established" before it was added to our family sharing group.  I had no trouble approving her purchases.
I had set up an account for my youngest daughter a long time ago, but used it only for email and iMessage on her iPod.  My ID was used for purchases on the device.  After Family sharing was launched and she got an iPad for Christmas, I decided to set up her ID as the primary account on her new iPad and added her to family sharing.
The first problem I ran into with Family Sharing was enabling the "Ask to Buy" function because since I set up accounts for my daughters a long time ago they were both showing as adults.  I learned from another post that the fix for this was to change their birthdates to January 1, 2001.  I did this and it has them listed as Age 14 on their family sharing profiles - fine.
I then ran into the same problem with Ask to Buy that David Wilkie described above.  My fix was a little different from yours and less intensive.
Removed my youngest daughter from family sharing
Purchased an app using her account alone (with an iTunes gift card attached) to establish a purchase history.
I then re-added her to our family sharing group.
I had her purchase a song using "Ask to Buy" and it worked as expected.
Thanks for going through the legwork with support to find this fix and share it.  I hope my experience can be helpful as well.

  • Where is the app bought on Family Sharing?

Have Family Sharing setup with family. First app was bought today by my kid. He's not setup where I need to give permission. I pay though. LOL
I received the iTunes email receipt - how I know he bought something. Seemed like a cool app, so I figure I'll check it out - go to my iTunes, the app not in my Library (if I buy something on my iPhone or iPad, it immediately also downloads to iTunes) So I search the Store for the app - and I can BUY it - but not download it as a Purchased item.
So am I doing something wrong with Family Sharing, or apps bought by Family do not show up into the iTunes Library of the main account paying for them?
Thanks - hope that makes sense?a

    Hello musicmaker,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

  • Can't see member Purchases with Family Sharing

Okay, I wonder if someone can help with this. I setup Family Sharing and was able to add the members I wanted. When I go to the AppStore, i'm able to see their name under the Family Purchases", however when I click on their names, I can't see their purchased. I just get something that says "you have no purchases". I follow the steps on the Apple Article title "If you don't see you family's shared content" and that didn't solve the issue. I also made one for the members to download a free that was shareable, to verify and I still couldn't that one either.  In addition, I verified that the email under the Family Sharing was the same for ITunes & AppStore under the setting.  Does anyone has solution? I'm not sure if the issue is because I have an older iPhone. I still have the iPhone 4S

I have the same issue - interestingly, I am able to see iTunes purchases.  It's just app store purchases that aren't showing up.

  • Unable to see any purchases in Family Sharing

I know iOS8 is completely new, but has anybody messed with Family Sharing yet? I set it up, and invited my husband. We both have "share purchases" turned on, the credit card is set up fine. On my iPad, if I go to the Purchased link in the App Store, it says "to start sharing purchases, finish setting up family sharing in iCloud" where iCloud is linked. I click on that, it brings me back to the Family Sharing preferences, and it's completely unclear what else isn't set up. I read through the few Apple FAQs on this specifically Sharing purchased content with Family Sharing and If you don't see your family's shared content and neither helps. I looked through iBooks and Music as well, and still don't see his purchases anywhere (there's no link or anything to his purchases like there's supposed to be).

    Hi all,
i had the same problem but have FIXED IT!
Once you have set it up you then have to go back into setting and iCloud on all family devices and click on your name, it will prompt you to enter your Apple ID password. Once you do that on all devices, it then works fine. When you go into the iTunes store, App Store or iBooks, you will see in the Purchased section your family members. Apple could have explained this better. They finally explained it at this link: If you don't see your family's shared content

  • Stop adults from purchasing using family sharing

I am the main account holder, and therefore it uses my Credit Card. I wish to prevent other Adults in my Family Group From making purchases without my knowledge or authorisation. I believe you can ask children to request authorisation but any adult can just buy without restriction. If this is not possible then Apple needs to seriously fix this and allow adults to purchase with their own cards and restrict minors only.

    Hi zaba,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
Other adults in your Family Sharing group can use iTunes Store gift cards if they do not wish to have the payment default to the organizer. The individual adult can add a gift card credit to their individual account that will be charged first, before defaulting to the organizer’s payment method.
Family purchases and payments - Apple Support
    Making purchases
After you set up your family, any time a family member initiates a new purchase it will be billed directly to your account unless that family member has gift or store credit. First, their store credit will be used to pay the partial or total bill. The remainder will bill to the family organizer's card. As the family organizer, any receipts generated by the transaction will be sent to you. Learn more about how iTunes Store purchases are billed.
    Best regards,

  • Will a password be required at point of purchase in family sharing?

I have activated family sharing but want to make sure that a password is required each time a purchase is made as when I buy myself.

    Bumbleatwork wrote:
Is that not for under 18's only??
Correct. "Use these steps to turn Ask to Buy on or off for family members who are under 18* in your family group."
If there is someone in your family sharing group who is over 18 and whose buying habits you do not trust, it would be best to remove them from the group, because you as the Family Organizer are responsible for their purchases.
