In-App Purchases declined?

For the past 2-3 days now, my In-App purchases have been declined. I can still buy an app/music etc, but anything within an App i can't. On some apps i get told to contact Itunes support, others it gives me a list of possible reasons (none of which help). I tried to re-enter my card details and it then told me that it had been declined (despite making purchases on it just a few hours before). (Card is a Visa Debit if that helps/matters)
I contacted Itunes support on theThursday night and received a reply saying that i would get an Email back when they found out what was wrong, still nothing. Reading through some of the complaints (on the same subject) people claim to have had this problem for weeks/months, with no solution from Apple when they have contacted Itunes support.
I have tried to re-enter my card details and I've double checked everything, I've re-entered my card details on my PC on Itunes and then synced it with my Ipad, still nothing. Seems very unusual that i can still make a regular purchases, but not an in App one.
Any suggestions?

The change has been occurring slowly over the past year and a half or so as banks update their records, or merge, or get taken over, or declared insolvent. If your debit card continues to work for App Store purchases, continue to use it and just keep "flying under the radar" as long as you can.
As long as your bank continues to pay Apple, they won't care. The moment they hold up a payment, however small and for whatever reason, the party's over.

    You have a Puerto Rico address on your account ? From a quick search I've found one site from somebody in Puerto Rico that includes a screenshot for an app receipt showing tax of 7 cents added to a 99 cent purchase. Are you able to view the purchase history on the account that you've been using, and see what prices show on them (e.g. if the store's listed price or price plus tax) : Store > View Account menu option on a computer's iTunes, then 'see all' link next to the Purchase History section.

    I assume that you are trying to use a debit card ? If it is then I don't think that they are still accepted as a valid payment method in all countries - from this page :
    You may be able to use other payment types in your country, like debit and Maestro cards
    which implies that they are not accepted in all countries, and there have been a number of posts about them being declined.
    For a card to have a chance of being accepted it needs to be registered to exactly the same name and address (including format and spacing etc) that you have on your iTunes account, and have been issued by a bank in the country where you and your iTunes account are. If it is then you could check with the card issuer to see if it's them that are declining it, and if not then try contacting iTunes Support (these are user-to-user forums) and see if they know why it's being declined (but you might not be able to use a debit card) : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Account Management

    I inadvertently selected an in-app purchase for $7.40 with a $5 balance on my card that of course was declined.  I want to cancel that purchase but now can't get into the app because there is now an update.  I can't update because of the declined purchase.  Is there a way to cancel it?

    Because it was declined, it's still looking for the $7.40.  I could put more money on my card, but I don't want to complete the purchase.  And since the App Store is waiting for the declined amount, I can't update any of my free apps because it needs to have $1 available.

    If you owe money you will need to use another card or iTunes card to resolve the issue before they will attempt to charge your regular card again.

My suspicion is that I may have entered my password wrong the first time I tried and now it won't let me buy or download anything wether its free or not.  So I went and did some stuff with my account and I re entered my payment information and it was declined for some odd reason. So I went to see my bank account online and my life lock shut it down because someone was using my card -.- it was my sister. But yeah maybe your debit card is invalid.

    Having a problem making an in app purchase off a game I have downloaded on my iPhone.
    Using my TD VISA DEBIT too make the purchase (basically works as a pre paid visa credit card).
    The price of the in app purchase is $19.99, and I've entered in my billing information 100% correctly (have re checked about a dozen times as it kept saying its invalid!).
    Now that I've tried to make the purchase around 10 times, a pop up comes up on my phone that reads somewhat along the lines of "Your Payment method was declined, please contact iTunes support to continue your purchase".
    Which well.. Brings me here as the 1-800 number that I can call for my area is currently closed!
    (And yes, I do have the enough money on the card lol just so that's out there!)
    Please help me figure this out, even if there is a way I can make it get billed to my phone bill (ROGERS) then I don't mind doing it that way either. Just want to make this purchase and be done with it!

  • Being charged twice for in app purchases with MY SINGING MONSTERS

    this has gone on long enough and I'm sick and tired of hearing the same talk over and over again .
    For some ungodly reason twice now I've been charged randomly for in app purchases that I have only purchased once ,I have made the purchase using a gift credit but have also been charged to my card which has declined the purchase ,I have contacted support and they say send an email with the details ,I've sent 4 emails and after many weeks am still yet to receive a call back ,the issue with the overcharge means my icloud account has been rendered unusable ,even previous purchases I have made cannot be restored aswell because my sons ipad is linked to my account his has been stuffed up too ,we can't even update our apps and to restore this I could make the payment ,out of principal I refuse to do so .
    This overcharge problem has happened twice now ,the first time they said it was a system glitch and they credited my account ,problem solved ,but this time round after completing the instructions I was informed to do I'm still waiting for a fix

    We're not Apple, we're just other users like you who can possibly provide advice.
    Was this an audiobook or was it an iBook?  Audiobooks can only be downloaded once per payment.  You can avoid multiple payments by transferring the files while syncing.
    If it was an iBook it should have warned you about making a second payment.  There are specific steps to downloading past purchases.
    Downloading (using iOS or computer) past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519 - enabled with iTunes 10.3 and newer; not all media formats are available in all countries (see: iTunes in the Cloud and iTunes Match Availability by Country - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5085); apps, books (not audiobooks), music, t.v. shows, and movies (some - not all studios have permitted this).  Downloading previously purchased movies and TV shows requires iTunes 10.6 or later.  Discontinued items not available. For items not included in the iCloud list (e.g., ringtones, audiobooks), or locations or computer systems where iCloud is not (yet?) available, you only get one download per fee paid.  Apple notes it is your responsibility to back up your purchases.
    Select the iTunes Store on the left side of iTunes.
    Click on Purchased on the right side under Quick Links.
    You can re-download your available previous purchases.

    I have been reasearching how to do this on the internet, but I haven't found an easy explanation yet.  My family is going crazy over each others imessages being sent to others in the family and not being able to use FaceTime because of conflicting email addresses.  I have read that if each person gets their own iCloud account, this would work.  However, I need to know what to do after I set everyone up with their own iCloud account.  Do I make that the default email address to be contacted or can they still use their hotmail email addresses.  Any help- with easy explanation- would be much appreciated!!

    We do this in my family now.  We have one account for purchases, so it is used to share music and apps (I think that is in Settings/iTunes & App Stores).  Each iDevice has this configured.
    Then, each of us has our own iCloud account that is configured under Settings/iCloud.  That then allows us to have our own Mail/Contacts/Calendars/Reminders/Safari Bookmarks/Notes/Passbook/Photo Stream/Documents & Data/Find My iPhone/and Backup.  That Backup piece is pretty sweet and comes in handly if you replace your iDevice.  You can just restore from it.
    So we all share the Apple Store account but we all have our own iCloud accounts to keep the rest seperate or things like you mentioned are a nightmare.

    Think of it as an internet based ("cloud") area for all of those items listed in my response.  What you need to remember is photo stream only maintans the last 1000 pictures so don't count it as a complete backup solution for your pictures.  Even though I rarely sync with a computer these days, I do still try to sync my phone with iPhoto (I have an iMac) so that I have copies of all of my pictures.  1000 may not stretch as far as it sounds.

    I would just follow the instructions from this article to give your unused 4s to your spouse. Since you have already started using your 5s, you will still be receiving iMessages on that phone and will have no need to receive them on a device that has been replaced.     Is this something you would love to do in your app ?
    I think, Apple has everything necessary to make it a one click experience for users: calculate price including shipping and taxes,
    collect payment, send prepaid UPS label to app developer (or specified vendor).
    I wonder if this idea makes sense ?
