In app purchases when transferring to a new device?

Here is my situation.  My sons ipod touch is cracked so I want to transfer his data to my old iPhone 4.  My hope is that I will be able to transfer all of his apps and his in app purchases over to the new device.  So far I have backed up the old Ipod touch and then resored it to the iPhone.  So far so good but the in app purchases have not transfered.   Is there something I have missed? I just want to easily clone the one device to another.
any direction would be very welcome
Thanks

If you restore from iTunes backup all the apps have to be in the iTunes library in order for the apps date (includes in-app purchases) to go.

    Hello sthomp31
Check to make sure that the In-App purchase can be downloaded again. The article below will assist you further. If you can still download it and not able to, then report the issue to the iTunes Store.

  • How do I delete an old Apple ID and still update apps purchased when I was using it?

How do I delete an old Apple ID and still update apps purchased when I was using it?

One, you cannot delete an Apple ID, all you can do is stop using it and let it fade away.
Two, apps are permanently tied to an aPple ID and can never be transferred to another.  You must use that same ID to update an app, or delete the app and repurchase/download under another ID.

When an app is downloaded under an Apple ID it is permanently tied to that Apple ID.  The only option is to de
Ete and then download under your Apple ID.

You have a Puerto Rico address on your account ? From a quick search I've found one site from somebody in Puerto Rico that includes a screenshot for an app receipt showing tax of 7 cents added to a 99 cent purchase. Are you able to view the purchase history on the account that you've been using, and see what prices show on them (e.g. if the store's listed price or price plus tax) : Store > View Account menu option on a computer's iTunes, then 'see all' link next to the Purchase History section.

You purchased a gray market phone. The iPhone is not available for sale from any Authorized source in Ukraine. There are no authorized or supported carriers in Ukraine.
Take it ack and get your money back.
If you want an iPhone, go to a country where unlocked iPhones are available for legitimate sale and purchase one directly from Apple.

iPhones require a SIM for activation.
Put the device in DFU mode (google it) and restore via iTunes.

  • Should in app purchases be transferred to new phone?

I had a 3GS and now iPhone 4, on the 3GS I had the Navigon gps app which I also bought the in app extras (traffic and panoramic view) but I noticed those extras didn't transferred to the new phone, the app wants we to buy the traffic and panoramic options again.

I've never done in app purchases, but I can assume that perhaps they are like just extra data the app allows you to buy and thus gets put in with other data files the app uses (eg: no new icon on home screens).
Thus when you sync and backup it is part of the app data that gets backed up.
If you didn't restore your new phone from your backup of your old phone then you didn't get your app data. If you just synced you just installed the apps not the data.

  • How do I retain all content when transferring iphone to new computer?

I need to transfer my old iphone to my new computer so that I can transfer all the contact info, manually downloaded music, notes, and so forth from that phone onto my shiny new iphone.
    Is this possible?

Syncing to a new iTunes library or computer will erase your phone. Only if you back up manually before syncing, you can restore your device from that backup again. A manual backup does not include the sync process.
    Do this:
Disable autosync in iTunes, connect your phone to your new computer and right click on it in the device list and choose backup. iTunes will backup your device without syncing.
Transfer your purchases the same way, choosing "transfer purchases" this time.
When you connect your phone for the first time, all media content will be erased. But you can restore your settings and app data from your manual backup afterwards.
Don't forget to set up at least one contact and event on your new computer to be able to merge calendars and contacts when you sync the iPhone for the first time.
Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in itunes and transferred your purchases.
There is 3rd party software out there, but not supported by Apple, see this thread:http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2013615&tstart=0

  • I just upgraded to the new 4, but not sure how to make sure all my apps (purchases) get over to the new phone from iphone 3.  can't seem to find instructions. thanks.

I just upgraded to the new iphone 4, but am hesitant to get it plugged in b/c I don't know how to make sure all the apps purchased on my iphone 3 get to the new phone.  can't seem to find instructions so I'm sure it just "does it", but hesitant to literally pull the plug.  thanks.

  • Can I keep my app list when syncing to a new Mac?

I bought a new iMac as my main computer and want all of my family's idevices synced to the new mac instead of the old one. When I synced my iPhone, it kept my data fine, but it installed every app in my library that would fit on it (about 800 apps!) instead of the select few hundred I had installed on it before.
I want to sync my wife's iPod touch to it now but I don't want this same issue as it takes HOURS to go through and select the right apps. Is there any way to sync to a new computer and have only those apps that are already installed on the device be installed after the sync?
    Thanks!

Use the Mac Migration Assistant to more all the iTunes information to your new computer. This includes the backup of the iDevices. Then you should be able to restore the iDevices from the backup of the device.
Also, you might want to explain better how you transfered and synced with your new computer.

  • Submitting first in-app purchase - when to publish??

If I submit my first In-App purchase to Apple today, but I don't want the new folio to appear in my app until the 14th January, how do Apple review it?
Am I still OK to make my publication date in DPS '2012-01-14' or do I have to publish it now so that the App review team can review it?
    Thanks.

When I create a new (non-consumable) in-app purchase, it doesn't give me an option to enter a date. It just asks for the price tier, language, description, screenshot etc.
Once this is all submitted and saved, the price effective date is listed as 'existing'.
Surely that means that as soon as Apple approves the in-app purchase (however long that may be), it becomes available - and that would be too early.
My publication date in Adobe DPS is listed as 13th January. So how do Apple view the folio in the viewer app? Because the version they view (the distribution viewer) won't be given the option to download the folio until 13th January...

  • Can't backup apps purchased since I got my new iPhone

I had an iPhone 3G. I now have an iPhone 3GS running iOS 5.0.1. All of my old apps are backed up just fine, but any apps I've loaded onto my new iPhone don't get backed up and iTunes tells me I need to authorize this computer, but my computer is already authorized for my Apple account. I haven't changed my Apple account which I've had for at least 10 years.
I feel like I need to authorize this computer for the new phone but how do I do that.

Well, as I mentioned in my original post, this comuter IS authorized for my Apple account. After making the post I deauthorized and then re-authorized the computer which accomplished nothing.
However, your mention that the apps need to be downloaded in iTunes and can't be copied from the iPhone to iTunes turned out to be the key to decyphering the less than elucidating message in iTunes.
The message says: Some apps can't be copied to iTunes because they are not authorized for the computer. What it might better say is: Apps purchased on your iPhone need to be downloaded from the Apple store to your computer and cannot be transferred from your iPhone.
Once I downloaded all the new apps, I no longer get the message, so I'm assuming the secret has been discovered.
