In BeX only Key is display instead of Text in filter value

Hi,
Our company migrated from BW 3.0b to BI 7.0 Netweaver 2004s recently.
Before the migration, a value in the Filtersection of an executed query in the BEx Analyzer was displayed as text. Now after the migration it always displays the key instead of text.
If i put the same InfoObject in the Free Characteristics than it shows text like i choosed in the display section of the properties.
Do you have any clue why?

Try to be on the latest SP available as a part of sanity check.
Try first to download latest FEP from service.sap.com/swdc
Download>Support Packages and Patches">SAP Frontend Components">SAP GUI FOR WINDOWS">SAP GUI FOR WINDOWS 6.40>Win32>Bw700SP09P_904-10001615.exe.exe
download that file rename as .exe and execute it.

I have an infoobject DWBSELEMT for which the medium text is loaded in the text table.
e.g. 1 EN XYZ
      2 EN MNP
This infoobeject is used in a cube and the cube is a part of the multiprovider.
I have a BEx report on the multiprovider and DWBSELEMT is displayed in rows with option "display key and text"
However, the o/p of the report shows 1 1      instead of     1 XYZ
                                                      2 2                         2 MNP
I have changed the BEx options in the infoobject, display properties in query and also in the multiprovider level, but still there has been no change.
What could be the reason?
Please help.

Hi Simon,
The infoobject does have actual texts loaded into the T table.
The text type and BEx descp. options in the BEx tab of the infoobject are set to medium and long text.
I have ran the query in other desktops as well, but no change..

UEEEE displayed instead of text

Hi, I'm learning how to program from a book I purchased and i'm making a simple guessing game. The programming is as follows...

the problem is whenever I test it. I get no errors. In the text box (instance named "output") instead of saying, "I'm thinking of a number between 1 and 100" it is saying "UEEEE". I ran it with debuging permited and it told me I should embed the text or use device central however, the book says not to though.

embed your text and add no text to output in the ide. only assign text with actionscript unless you use a static textfield.
(and, get a new book if it really adises against embedding fonts.)

PDF displaying characters instead of text

I have a user that is trying to view a PDF using Acrobat X and has random characters display instead of text. Other users with Acrobat X are able to view the document fine as well as other users who have previous version of Reader. I have tried running a repair on the installation as well as disabling protected mode at startup. Any idead on what to do? This is on the display for this user not printing.

As Jogn said you would have to use the planning connection. The smart lists used in planning are not in Essbase. Essbase stores the smartlist ID number not the text value.

How do I display only key instead of description in MDX query

Hi,
Whenever I try to display material number, QN number.... in MDX it only displays the description instead of key. In query designer, it says "display as key and text". How do I display the key only instead of text?

I used your query and pointed to my query and the result is as expected - both key and text. I'm not sure what is different between our IO and mine.

then I tried to hardcode the value it only showed me just the text. I tried different ways to make it show either just the key or both - but couldnt figure out. And one more thing I confirm is that the display settings in Bex really DOESNT matter or taken into consideration my MDX.

BEx Wad 7.0 displays key instead of text when text value is blank

Hi,
I have a query which behaves differently in BEx Analyzer and in a Web Template. I have a characteristic which is set to display text and key. The key is "100" and the text field is not filled out in the text table of the characteristic for key value "100".
In BEx Analyzer, the text field shows a blank value. However, in WAD the text field displays the key which is "100". I need to display the text field as blank in WAD, but it seems like this is not possible. Do you know a way to achieve this?
I need to export to Excel from WAD, so I guess javascript will not be a proper solution.

BEx - show key only for variables (filters) chosen

We have a custom build fiscal period (ZFISCPER) that has a reference characteristic of 0CALMONTH. We have used 0CALMONTH as a reference char to benefit from some of the features of it. One feature that we don't like is the description. For example period 1's description is JAN, period 2 is FEB.
The users do not want to see the description at all, so we have chosen to only use the key as the display in BEx. This works fine except when the user chooses a value from the variable screen for fiscal period. When the report is displayed, just above the values, the filter values are displayed:
Fiscal Year Variant Fiscal Week Calendar
Fiscal Period/Year JUL 2007
Is there any way to make the filter information show the key instead of the description?

On the BEx toolbar you will find the option of choosing LAYOUT. Click on it and then choose DISPLAY TEXT ELEMENTS -> VARIABLES. This will list all the variables of the query (both key and text listed in separate rows for each variable). Then you can delete the rows that contain the texts and just keep the rows with KEY description. When done save the workbook.
Note: This approach would work only if your client is running queries using workbooks with standard templates.

Workbook refresh displays key instead of text

Hi,
We are on NW2004S rampup. Our support pack level for Quality environment is 7. When we execute the workbook in management cockpit in transaction UMM_PRES, the calendar month is displayed as text. When we refresh workbooks, the calendar month changes from text to key., like from Jan 2006 - May 2006 to 01/2006 - 05/2006. This happens for every refresh. On the other hand when we log back and display, text is shown and with every subsequent refresh key is displayed. This does not happen in Quality system under 3.0b version. My search on OSS notes does not get any relevant one. Anyone having similar experience?

I am able to get the result as text only after each refresh. This is made possible as follows:
In RSD1, I changed the following under BEX tab.
Display changed to Text
Text type changed to medium type
The Text type is new one in 2004S as compared to 3.x.

BEx Selection screen Hierarchy display (text - key)

Hi,
We have a new query deployed that uses several hierarchies in the selection screen.
When running the reports, the drop down for the hierarchies on the variable selection screen displays the full text.
However, the users are more familiar with the key value and would prefer to see that. In the actual report, the keys are displayed.
I am trying to find where the default display can be set for the hierarchies on the BEx selection screen so I can show the key values?

Create a FM like below and a wrapper for it so you can call it as part of process chain; we load all of our hierarchies then call this:

How to Add a New Filter Value in BEx WAD to Display All Result

Hi experts,
I want to add a new filter value in BEx WAD to display all data records. The scenario is as follows:
The status field can have two values: Active ("A) and Inactive ("I").
But the requirement is to have a third value to display all the data records (Active + Inactive). E.g. the value can be "G". The purpose is to increase the understandability for report users.
Does anyone have an idea?

thanks for your reply. The problem is that there are only 2 values available for this Characteristic: "A" or "I".
The requirement is to have a third value "G" (instead of the default "All Value") due to historical reason, because all future report users have been working with R/3 reports for quite some time and they are accustomed to using "G" for displaying all values.
Is there any possibility to realize this?

Webi SelectionScreen based on BEx variable doesn't display dates correctly

Hi,
BEx query has a date variable. When this BEx query is executed in BW, the date variable shows a calendar in F4 selection screen.
Webi is built based on this BEx query which is using the BEx date variable. When Webi is executed, in the selection screen, list of dates are displayed instead of a Calendar. Also, the list doesn't not contain all the dates.
Please suggest how to get the calendar in the Webi Selecton Screen for Date field or atleast suggest how to get list of all dates in the webi selection screen.

- Changed 'A' to 'D' to set from Alphanumeric to Date (might give prompt in date format and calendar option)
- Removed the reference to the LOV (which i think would remove the reference to getting values from BW)
- Changed primary_key to free (which i think would allow the user to enter values themselves)

Workbook title of Bex 7x don't display in different logon languages

Good morning Guys,
I have created workbooks in new Bex 7x.
Now: when I logon to BW in different language than english i.e. German I would expect that workbook titel will be transferred from its english version as german doesn't exist yet. This was the good behavior of old 3.x Bex.
Surprisingly it doesn't display any readable title only GUID of the workbook like 1RC1X1R3UYM6COE2O5A12TTG0 .
I have found similar thread regarding this on SDN, which is marked as answer but in fact is not.
How to display workbook description based on their logon langauge of BEX
Does some of you know how to force system to display english title instead of that (like it was in old good 3.x Bex) and can share this knowledge?

Dear Marek,
Yes,it is True.
With 7.x BEx,all the Tools display the Description as Technical Name for the Objects for DE as Login language.
For Eg:In case of Workbook,the GUID will be shown as Description and Technical Name.
With 3.x,it shows the Description properly,when the user logged in with DE (German) language.
Though it looks wierd,this is an expected behaviour and as by design.

BEx Web Application Designer - Info Field - Display Static Filter Values

Hi there,
I'm not sure if anyone is having the same issue I am having... but here goes.
I have the option DISPLAY STATIS FILTER VALUES turned on in my 0ANALYSIS_PATTERN & 0ANALYSIS_PATTERN_EXPORT web print templates for printing to PDFs from the Query Designer.
- If I have it turned on, all the filters (including the dynamic) are displayed with about 4 rows of empty space between each line.
- If I have it turned off, the dynamic filters are displayed normally.
Does anyone know how to affect the font and spacing of this setting?
Note: As it is the the standard print template, I can't add the perameters of which filter to display.
Please let me know if you have any ideas.

Help to your answer I could understand my mistake. I was customizing the Data Binding part instead of the Internal Display.
I did the following :
[ ]Display Static Filter Values
[ ]Display Genertal Text Elements
[ ]Display Dynamic Filter Values
[x]Display Variables
[ ] Only Variable with values
And it is working now.
FYI: no need to uninstall and reinstall the Bex tools, it worked directly with the latest patch.

How can i use text only instead of text plus the folder icon in the bookmarks toolbar; older firefox allowed this.

I prefer using text only instead of text plus a folder icon in the bookmarks toolbar because it used less space and I can display more bookmark folders in that toolbar. Is that possible in Firefox 4.0? It was possible in the earlier versions of Firefox. If it is possible in Firefox 4.0 how do I do that? Thank you.
