In b.i7 v have Transformations instead of Transforrules.why?

Hi,
you can still use transfer rules if you like. But transormation give you the option to be more flexible when updating data. You can define different behavior dependent where you want to update your data, e.g. you can define a different delta behaviour. The complete da load process gets easir you dont need infosourvce and update rules any longer, just an infopackage to load the data in PSA and then with DTP into your data targets.

Problem in migrating Transfer Rule (3.X) to Transformation (7.0)

Hi All,
I am working on migrating bussiness contents from 3.X to 7.0. Have migrated transfer rule into transformation successfully. But transformation remains inactive by default & as I try to activate it, system throws error.
The error is associated to the formula used in rule as an syntax error.
Formula - IF( KOART = 'D', BUSINESS_PARTNER, '' )
Error - Formula element is not allowed here.
I didnt change the formula after migrating. Infact it is same as it was in transfer rule - IF( Account type = 'D', BUSINESS_PARTNER, '' )
'Account Type' is changed to 'KOART' by system itself during migration.
Please suggest views to resolve the issue.

Though, migration of transfer rule into transformation done successfully, since BI 7.0 uses OO ABAP, u have to change routines code, formulas manually.
I think, u r missing ' ' for BUSINESS_PARTNER.
Formula - IF( KOART = 'D', 'BUSINESS_PARTNER', '' )

Transfer rules not availble in Business content

Hi,
In process of installting Purchasing module related business content I am facing problem with Transfer rules. I have activated all datsources related to Purchasing module in R/3 side and replicated in BW .
Except for 2 datsources all other replicated properly. the datasources 2lis_02_itm and 2lis_02_hdr replicated and are in modified version. why they are not in active verion. can anyone help me in this??
and when i go to business content only infosurce, communication structure are available for this datasources and transfer rules are not available. I tried the option sof delting the datsource and replicating again, activating the source system etc. and replicating it number of times.but nothing worked.
and another issue is when I replicated it didnt propmpt me anythng to selct the option of replciate in 3.x or 7.0 version.
Request anybody's help in this to get the transfer rules.

Hello,
Install the business content for purhcasing properly in BI7.
If you install 2LIS_02_ACC for eg.. you will see... Cube/DSO-Transformation(TRCS)-Infosource-Transformation(RSDS)-datasource.
Sometimes the TRCS or RSDS will be inactive after installing... check the start routine of the transformation and correct accordingly..

Conversion of DATS to DEC in transfer rule

Dear all,
I have a requirement to Activate mapping field in Infosource - transfer rule.
I have to map ZDATE (datatype - DEC) with ZOLDDATE (Datatype - DATS).
I know it can be directly mapped so DATS field will be automatically converted to DEC like below.
12.07.2010 will be converted to 20.100.712.xxx.xxx
But after mapping it, the dataload time has been increased from 1 hr to 5 hrs.
Do anyone has faced this issue ? how to bringdown the dataload time.
I also wrote a simple routine....but again the dataload timin is affected.
data : l_date type sy-datum,
         tmp TYPE AD_TSTAMP.
l_date = TRAN_STRUCTURE-ABRDT.
CALL FUNCTION 'ADDR_CONVERT_DATE_TO_TIMESTAMP'

Attribute not showing up in Transfer Rule.

This is my first posting on the forum.
I am running into issue with the Transfer Rule.
I have extended the existing BC extractor (0BEN_PLAN_TEXT) to include a field (ZZVENDOR) in R/3. I also replicated into BW.
Then in BW I created a infoobject (ZZVENDOR) as Text and included it as the attribute of infoobject (0BEN_PLAN).
When I try to modify the transfer rule that field is not there on the assignment side (left frame). It is on the right hand side coming from the datasource. It is also part of Transfer structure but since I cannot assign the transfer rule and it is not in communication area the field is not getting populated when I load master data.
All the article I have come across say's the field should be there as soon as you add as attribute and activate it.
Any help in this matter will be appreciated.

No the field is not hidden in R/3. When I tested the extractor in R/3 the field is displayed and populated with right information fine.
In-fact I also see the field in the transfer structure in BW and it is also in the right frame of Transfer rule (Assign.InfoObject-field) but I do not have a field in the left frame where I can assign this too.
I think the issue is around setting of (ZZVENDOR) as infoobject or assign it as attribute.

Problem in mapping Infoobjects in Transfer Rules

I need your help regarding following issue:
I installed ODS named STABILITY STUDY : INSPECTION RESULTS QUANT. DATA (0QM_DS02) from Business Content.
The ODS & Update Rules have been installed properly.
Few infoproviders had been already installed at the time of implementation, hence majority of the infoobjects existed from before. Only few were new.
Now when i tried to map transfer rules, newly installed infoobjects are not seen in data source.
The data source is 2LIS_05_QE2 and few of the infoobjects not being mapped are:
Sum of Target Value (0SUMSOLLW)
Target Val.Available (0IND_SOLLW)
Phys. Sample Number (0PHYS_SP)
Inspect.Lot Origin (0LOT_HERK)
Inspection Method (0PMETHODE)
Plant of Insp. Meth. (0PPLANT)
Insp. Meth. Version (0PMTVERSION)
Can any one suggest me how should i proceed??

Dear Anuradha,
Before installing transfer Rules or infosource first u have to install the datasource in source system and replicate it into bw.
If u have done this already then u want to map some objects in transfer rules then u have to check whether those fields available in the datasource , If they are available then goto transfer structure click datasource/transfer strucature tab there right side box u can see the unmapped fields in black colour move them to right side then go to transfer rules map those fields to infoobjects.
If the fields are not there in the datasource u cant do any thing just activate the transferrules.
Assign points if it solves ur problem...........or clearly reply what is ur problem.

Migration of Transfer Rules ( Create Transformation)

Iam loading master data using direct update through 3.5 datasource. Now i want to migrate the data-source as well as the transfer rules.
First thing i do is right click on the transfer rules Additional Functions--> Create transformation
I get the following message
" Initial error occurred during generation of the transformation "
Message no. RSTRAN667
I tried deleting the transfer rules and recreating it, i get the same problem. I think first i need to create transformation against the transfer rules then i need to migrate the datasource.
I also tried just migrating the datasource and the transfer rules are gone.
The same procedure i tried with Business Content master data datasource and that one works.
Note: we are on Suport pack 12.
Please let me know if iam missing anything.

But the thing iam doing is Iam migrating 3.5 stuff to 7.0 iam not creating transformations on the datasource.
In order to attain that migration ,first iam migrating the transfer rules as iam using direct update for master data. While iam doing that Iam getting the error message.
Voodi I'll look at that option and see if i can accomplish my migration by first migrating DS and then transfer rules....
But did u get this message for direct update of the master data...
I tried creating a generic master datasource even for that one also iam getting the same message ...while migrating the transfer rules....

How do I create transfer rule in NetWeaver Admin workbench

Just migrated from 3.1 to NetWeaver BI 7.0. I now see 'Create transformation' when I right click the info source I just created. How do I go about creating 3.1 like transfer structure and transfer rules ? I understand 'transformation' now combines update rule and transfer rule in BI 7.0. But is there an option to create the old transfer structures etc. ?

when I right click and hit delete I get an error message that the IO is being used in a Transfer Rules.
I have searched for that transfer rule but can't locate it.

Transfer Rule Routine: Assign Date Value into Blank Field

I would like to check if the value of EXPIRYDATE is blank in data source. If its value is blank, assign '99991231' to it. Otherwise, it will get the value of EXPIRYDATE in transfer rule. I have rewritten the routine as follows. But there is no effects on the result.

Why no transfer rules in our BI system

I have a BI system,and the patch level is BI_CONT 703 patch 8..and My SAP BW version is SAP_BW 700 patch 0018.I found that no transfer rules for 3.X datasource and 3.X infosource.
Any body has the same situation?

Hi,
Not sure if this helps.
Check in BI Content tab --> Source system assignment button. Flag the source system for which you are installing the transfer rules. Then you will get transfer rules for the source sytem.
If nothing is flagged in the source system assignment, you can find transfer rules for all the systems.

Creating an Incremental Unique Key in Transfer Rules Routine

Hello Experts,
In my Infosource, I have created a routine in the transfer rules on my infoobject. I am trying to load my data from a flat file and create a unique key by autonumbering a field in my infosource/datatarget.
I am new to ABAP and can not figure out why my code will not return a value...
Under "Use of Transfer Structure Fields" I chose my field to change only, and entered the following code:
Under Global Code I declared my counter because I want it to maintain its value during the entire load:
DATA: COUNTER TYPE I VALUE 0.
Then in my routine I have the following code:
COUNTER = COUNTER + 1.
RESULT = COUNTER.
RETURNCODE = 0.
ABORT = 0.
I expect this to return 1 for the first record, 2 for the second, and so on - therefore giving me a unique key. Any assistance in my code or other ways to automate this process in BW would be greatly appreciated.

It looks like your routine is basically correct. Have you tried using single quotes around the S instead? Also - you may want to add a statement to indicate what 0AMOUNT should be in the instance where your condition isn't true. Something like this:
IF tran_structure-shkzg = 'S'.
RESULT = tran_structure-wrbtr * -1.
ELSE.
result = ???
ENDIF.
Good luck! The syntax check in the transfer rules leaves a bit to be desired, doesn't it?

Routine in Transfer Rules - Error

Hi Experts,
I want to have a routine on Key Fig 0AMOUNT in Transfer Rules which says something like:-
if tran_structure-shkzg = "S".
RESULT = tran_structure-wrbtr * - 1.
endif.
However the syntax check will not allow this. The error says:-
E:Incorrect logical expression: Comparison / SELECT-OPTION can only be followed by "AND", "OR", or ")".
What does this mean? Why cant I perform this calculation on 0AMOUNT?

RSAU_READ_MASTER_DATA in transfer rules missing results or dump

Anybody know about if the RSAU_READ_MASTER_DATA work in transfer rules??
I have a routine for field attribute derivation from a infobject; putting the trans-structure as I_CHAVL and returning the E_ATTRVAL in result. But don't work and is hiring a dump of CALL_FUNCTION_CONFLICT_TYPE.
I tested with I_CHAVL equal to a string that is the key of a field in the infobject that I want to read; i haven´t the dump but don't work. The value is blank.

What's ur purpose here ??
If u're gonna read some data in master data, instead of using function, why don't u directly select to master data table ???
Usually the table name is /BIC/PX
X: Master data name.
/BIC/ => Customized one.
But if you want to get the information regarding what the table is, you can open directly respective master data info-object, and you go to master data tab.
In over there, you'll see the box whose label is Master data tab.
You can use SELECT command in ur corresponding transfer/update rules..
SELECT *
FROM ..
INTO CORRESPONDING FIELD OF TABLE ..
WHERE ..
