Welcome to Apple Support Communities
It looks like you have not installed the Windows support software. It is needed in Windows to get your trackpad working correctly, among other things.
As you are using Windows 8, download these drivers and follow the steps of the website > http://support.apple.com/kb/dl1638 If you have not got a USB drive, you can download it in Windows, decompress the file and run the installer

I use a Macbook Pro 13" mid 2010 on Mavericks and I've tried using the Boot Camp assistant to download support software for Windows 7. This gives the error "Can't install the software because it is not currently available from the Software Update server."
Further, I tried to separately download Boot Camp 4 and 5. When I do this and try to install from Windows 7, it says that this version of Boot Camp is not for this computer and doesn't install. The result is that I have Windows 7 working and installed, but am unable to use the trackpad to rightclick, brightness settings, etc.
Please help!
ThanksYou need to run Bootcamp Assistant and select only the menu item to download the Windows Support Software. Follow the instructions. The download servers are extremely slow therefore it may take several hours to get the download.

Boot Camp Windows 7 No Longer Connects to Internet
Hello, I have a mid 2011 iMac with Boot Camp Windows 7 installation. It has run flawlessly for more than a year. Recently however, I have been untable to connect to internet when running Windows. The connection works fine as a Mac. While in Windows, I can momentarily (about 10 seconds) connect by disconnecting and reconnecting the LAN cable. Then the "no internet." I have all the latest Boot Camp support software installed. All MAC and Windows software updates are installed. My network devices are configured correctly. I have rolled back to previous Windows updates with no resolution. Does anyone have any suggestions?
your router, your Windows firewall, you are using something other than Windows Defender (8) or Essentials (7), something else on the cable.
you had a storm and the modem is on life support and your ISP can login and see what errors the modem is showing, you don't have network surge protection (APC tend to interfere, Cyberpower tend to work).
What else is on the LAN?
I found Windows to be funny about network but 8 and 8.1 have never had trouble. With 7 I sometimes had to reboot.
Besides Apple and Windows, some drivers are or often still needed - manually. -
How do you switch iMac 27" display when in Boot Camp (Windows 7)?
Hello,
My 27" iMac works great as an external display as long as the iMac is booted into OS X and I hit command-F2.
When I boot my iMac into Boot Camp (Windows 7) however, hitting command-F2 doesn't work to use my iMac as an external display.
Is there any way to get the 27" iMac to enter external display mode if you have booted it into Windows 7 rather than OS X?
Thanks!I have the same problem, 64bit Win7 Home Ed. loaded with all the recent updates including a Bootcamp patch from last week.
I posted on 9/2/10 and haven't gotten a reply. Did a lot of Google searching but only found it is a problem many have, but that no "real" solution is available.
Since I have had issues in Win7 after it crashes this way and after on/off (unlike you), I'm not willing to mess with it anymore.
I doubt Microsoft will commit to fixing this and it's not likely to be a top priority for Apple. -
Boot Camp Windows 7 x64 on an iMac
I've been trying to install Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit via boot camp on my iMac, formatted as NTFS. After I click start installation, it installs perfectly fine, but then afterwords, when the installer says it needs to restart the computer in order to continue, once it starts up, I get a black screen. I've found two possible solutions, but I'm not sure if either would work on my current iMac, or if there are any other solutions.
Solution 1: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3173 (Doesn't list support for Mid 2010 27" but would it work?)
Solution 2: http://www.subodh.com/Blog/PostID/85/Installing-Windows-7-on-iMac-27-rdquo
Sorry if I'm wasting anyones time, I'm at school and just wondering what my best bet would be when I get home (Solution 2? If that works, I will be able to reinstall the ati drivers later, right? Thanks)

HT201541 Mac mini Late 2014 Boot Camp Windows 7 sound issue
Hi,
I'm wondering if anyone can help me with my Mac mini (Late 2014) and Boot Camp (Windows 7). The problem I'm having is that there's no audio when I boot into Windows 7, though everything works fine under OS X. After installing Boot Camp and Windows, the audio worked perfectly up until yesterday, and now there's nothing. I've tried updating as well as uninstalling and reinstalling drivers, but this hasn't helped at all.
When I open Volume Mixer and Playback Devices, the sliders show that audio is playing, but I hear nothing - either from the built-in speaker or when I headphones.
The Device Status indicates that "This device is working properly" and that the drivers are up to date. Tthe following drivers are installed:
dmk.sys
HdAudio.sys
ksthunk.sys
portcls.sys
SysFxUI.dll
WMALFXGFXDSP.dll
Has anyone else encountered this issue, or does anyone have any tips on how I might fix this?Is the volume Muted? The Mac has an Audio database of devices and volumes in NVRAM, so an SMC Reset or PRAM reset might help. Please see this link for appropriate keys Startup key combinations for Intel-based Macs - Apple Support.

Boot Camp / Windows Partion... Can it be installed on a separate hard drive
I am just beginning to explore the idea of installing Boot Camp & Windows on a new Intel Mac I will be buying. I've been reading a lot of references to the Windows partition...
Can I dedicate a separate hard drive to Windows rather than partition my primary hard drive? If so would it be best to use an internal drive rather than a Firewire or USB drive. What would a reasonable minimum drive size be?
Thanks for you feedback.
MikeHi Mike,
since only the Mac Pro can have more than one internal HD, I assume you are talking about getting one of them
With more than one internal HDs you can put Windows on the second, third, fourth internal HD with the BootCamp Assistant.
On a side note: Windows does not support to be booted from external HDs (neither FireWire nor USB).
Reasonable size depends on what you want to do with it.
Windows XP itself takes up to 3.5GB of HD space after installation, Vista takes up to 10GB.
Add to that the HD space you need for the programs and data you use/produce.
And when keeping in mind the hassle it takes to enlarge the Windows partition if needed, my personal suggestions are:
Windows XP at least 30GB, Vista at least 50GB.
Have you already had a look here http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/ especially at the Installation Guide ?
Regards

Boot Camp Windows install format to NTFS not working.
As a preface I am new to Apple and more complex computer issues in general. With that said I have spent several hours trying to get Windows 8.1 installed from the DVD media to a partition created using Boot Camp Assistant. I have tried several suggestions and looked through many threads, blogs and articles and none seem to have the correct answer. Below are the steps that I have followed and the issue that I run into every time.
Open Boot Camp Assistant
Select Download the latest Windows support software from Apple
Select Install Windows 7 or later version
Download support software to USB Drive (leave connected)
Create a Partition (200GB)
Hold Option on Reboot and Select Windows
Begin the Windows install process
Select Custom: Install Windows only (advanced)
Installation asks: Where do you want to install Windows?
Select Drive 0 partition 4: BOOTCAMP
Error Message Details:
Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk is of the GPT partition style.
Windows cannot be installed to this hard disk space. Windows must be installed to a partition formatted as NTFS.
Solution I found from many threads is that I need to "Format" the partition. To do so I:
Select Drive 0 Partition 4: BOOTCAMP
Select Format
Select Drive 0 Partition 4 (No longer titled as BOOTCAMP after the reformat)
Error Message Details:
Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk is of the GPT partition style.
I cant seem to find a solution to this. Any help would be appreciated. I have tried removing all other connected drives and devices, and recreating the partition several times with no luck.
Machine Info:
OS X Yosemite 10.10.2
Mac (27-inch, Late 2013)
Processor: 3.2 GHz Intel Core i5
Memory 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
I also have VMware Fusion installed on the machine and already used the Windows installation media to create a virtual machine. Is it possible to transfer my virtual machine to a Boot Camp partition? I did a little research and it looks as though thats not possible (at least not easily) but I figured I'd ask anyway.Sorry for the delayed response. I'm still working to get a solution so any help is much appreciated. Thanks.
The installation media I purchased is for windows 8.1. Is that the issue? Do I need to install 8 not 8.1?

Yosemite, Boot Camp, Windows 8.1 - Resizing Partition Guide
Hey everyone, I had some success with this so I thought I would share:
What you Need:
0) familiarity with the command line, HD partitioning, linux, and lots of nerve.
1) Yosemite
2) A successful installation of Windows via Boot Camp (I was using 8.1 and I did the installation after I upgraded to Yosemite, i.e., I did not have a Boot Camp partition before upgrading to Yosemite) <-- Any other type of config may not work with this guide!!
3) A Linux live usb/cd with gparted (I assume you're familiar with linux and gparted and things like that, I'm not going to go into too many details on how to use that OS or its tools)
4) patience and luck
Disclaimer: This can really screw up your system if you fail to follow the directions or you have made the storage gods angry... use at your own risk!
So initially I created a boot camp partition to install Windows 8.1 and after the installation realized I should have allocated more space for Windows. On the OS X side, I opened the graphical diskutil and discovered I could not resize or change either of the partitions - the only thing I could do was delete the boot camp partition which was not a handy option considering the time I put into installing Windows and its subsequent updates.
After some careful googling I found this:
http://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/134498/unable-to-resize-partitions
Which led me to the solution. From a terminal run: 'diskutil corestorage list' (without the quotes) to get a list of the logical volumes, groups, and physical disks that OS X created after using boot camp. The information you will need is the UUID of the logical volume (not the logical volume group or family). You are then going to use the undocumented command 'diskutil corestorage resizeStack' with the UUID of the logical volume in order to change the size of the volumes and physical disk. In my case, I wanted to shrink my remaining OS X partition by 40GB and give that to Windows. Again from the terminal run:
'diskutil corestorage resizeStack UUID XXXg' where UUID is the 32 digit identifier of the logical volume and XXX is the desired new size of the disk (e.g., 350g for 350 GB).
After a few moments, it will finish and in diskutil you should see an amount of unallocated space. You still can't do anything with it here, but at least it's visible. Reboot into OS X again just to feel confident that you haven't screwed anything up, yet. It did seem to take slightly longer to reboot into OS X this one time, but everything turned out ok
Now using a linux live usb drive, boot into your favorite brand of linux and run gparted. You should see your unallocated space sandwiched between your OS X partition (which gparted may or may not formally 'see') and the NTFS Windows partition. Simply move the Windows partition over to occupy the unallocated space and extend it to the end of drive and you're done. My version of gparted warned me that Windows may not boot after I do this, but for me, it worked fine and booted into Windows properly the first time. If Windows doesn't boot, you'll need a Windows install on a usb stick (you should have one from your boot camp installation right?) and then you'll need to repair the disk (there are many helpful guides that go through this very thing - just google it).
It worked for me flawlessly, good luck!ashtastic wrote:

Everything has worked so far, I have freed up about 75GB that is in between OSX and my 8.1 Bootcamp Partition, however I can't for the life of me seem to make a working Linux USB. How can you make a BOOTABLE (from this retina macbook pro) Live CD with Gparted. What tools/ISO did you use? -

Is Paragon's "HFS+ for WIndows" safe to use for read+write access to HFS+ drives when running Windows [8] via Boot Camp?
Drivers that came with Apple Boot Camp (or maybe Parallels [8]) enable "read-only" access to HFS+ formatted drives from Boot Camped Windows, but I want to be able to write to the drives, too. I'm worrying about whether something in those Apple (or Parallels) drivers for Windows that makes that possible might also conflict with other software like "HFS+ for Windows," maybe even make a risk of corrupting the HFS+ disk (either external or even the OS X boot partition) so badly that everything on it becomes lost.
So I'm looking for people's experiences with using "HFS+ for Windows" with Parallels Desktop [8] for Mac. Is it safe?
Thanks. Thanks, Templeton. Yes, within OS X using Parallels 8 the integration with the Windows Parallels virtual machine is great. But once I leave the OS X / Parallels environment the folder sharing access disappears. So when I Boot Camp to Windows I have no visibility into the OS X partition nor any external HFS+ drives. (Except for a few specific activities that can only be done in OS X or are best in OS X, I spend almost all my time in Windows, so I usually wouldn't run OS X or Parallels to Windows.)
Thanks GeekBoy. Paragon HFS sounds risky with Parallels. I'll be eager for more feedback about risks of using that combo from whomever can offer it. -
Boot camp, windows xp and macbook pro-install problem
MacBook Pro 1,1

Boot Camp Windows XP
I installed a SSD and want to put Windows XP back on the computer.
I had Windows XP running under Boot Camp on my old HDD.
During the Windows XP install when it tells you to
press ENTER to install Windows XP
press R to repair a Windows install
press F3 to exit
I can't get the install to accept any input from the keyboard.
I tried searching the discussions but I'm not finding the answer.
I'm sure it is just something simple I'm not doing. I had Windows XP
running on this MacBook Pro before.
ThanksI wonder if your XP works with SSD or some SSDs have had trouble with Windows on Macs...
I'd search out PC forums + brand SSD for starters users with XP.
Everyone I run across though have moved on to Windows 7 64-bit. -

*BOOT CAMP* Windows XP not picking up wireless signal on Lion
I just got a new iMac two days ago and was able to install Windows XP from my old Dell Latitude boot disk. Yes, I thought it was odd... But it worked. I do understand that Lion only provides Windows 7 drivers in Boot Camp Assistant, but I was able to install Boot Camp 3.0 and 3.1 drivers for XP, right from the Apple Support Boot Camp driver link.
Well... My main issue lies here... When I switch to the XP side, it wont pick up a wireless signal. That's all I need so that I can start updating Windows from the internet, but it is not picking anything up.
I'm assuming that I am just missing the driver, but like I said, I installed the drivers provided by Apple. This is very frustrating and am not sure what to do.
Can someone PLEASE point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance.
BrianThis appears to be a problem with some of the newest MacBooks. There are several posts on this issue. It is possible that, as you seem to have noticed, switching to an NTFS formatted partition will solve the problem. See e.g. http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=5947955

Can I upgrade to Mountain Lion with Boot Camp windows 7?
Can I upgrade my mac book pro to Mountain Lion when I have Boot Camp Windows 7?
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion without any problem, but I recommend you to make a backup before upgrading. Also, after upgrading OS X, I recommend you to download the most recent Boot Camp drivers on Boot Camp Assistant and install the drivers on Windows
