In built speakers stop working

hi all,
i am connecting headphones to my tablet,it works fine
but when i disconnect it then the in built speakers dont work
i did all the control panel tests and all are fine
before connecting headphones they work fine
but after connecting external headphones and removing it,the internal speakers stop working
can anybody help please?

if you do a restart (not a shut down, a restart) on windows, does it still not work?
Unfortunatly I was unable to find any thing that would relate to a windows software controled switch (It does not have any kind of popups signaling the audio source change) so it may be just as simple as a broken head phone jack. Unfortunatly the only thing you can do is return it.

My speakers stopped working. When I go into Sound Preferences, it only gives me the option of digital out. How do I get it to detect the built in speakers again?

    Remove the headphone.
If you see red light in the headphone port, plug the headphone
in and out of the port 5 or 6 times to flip the microswitch inside.
Sound output may be stuck in the digital mode.

  • External speakers stopped working when Yosemiti was down loaded

My external speakers stopped working when I downloaded Yosemiti! how can I remedy this?

Dunno what it has to do with Yosemite, but:  press the alt/option key, while clicking on the speaker icon at the right hand top of your screen. This will show you all the sound inputs and outputs for your mac. Ensure that it is set to "Line Out" or "Digital out" (depending on your speaker's capabilities. Hopefully
    that works

  • External Speakers stopped working on Imac

External speakers stopped working.   Verified speakers operating with Iphone.   Checked that speakers plugged in correctly.   Tried usual power cycling step.   External speakers do not show up in sound preferences.    Anyone with any advice?
    Thanks,

If you unplug the speakers to the internal speakers work OK? If not try  resetting the system PRAM see Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
If they still don't work or if the internal works OK then look into the speaker plug. Do you see a red light? There is a switch inside the plug that detects the presents of a  jack and sometimes it gets stuck or breaks entirely.
You could try gently using a non-conductive device (a toothpick is good) probing inside the plug to see if you can free the switch. Of course this could be harmful if done incorrectly. If the system is still under warranty you might want to take it to have it looked at.

  • Macbook pro speakers stopped working, earbuds fine

My macbook pro speakers stopped working, but the earbuds work fine.  Tried restart and preferences.  Volume icon is grayed out, except when earbuds are plugged in.  What am I missing?

Look in the audio output port.  If there is a red light, the internal switch is stuck.  Insert the earphone jack a few times.  Blow into the port as hard as you can.  Use a toothpick or something similar and jiggle it inside the port.  If no success, bring the MBP to the Apple store genius bar.
    Ciao.
If there is no red light, try a PRAM reset:

  • Hp pavilion dv6-7020us speakers stopped working

My speakers stopped working at some point but I don't recall any programs or updates that may have caused this. I have uninstalled everything that I know was recently installed. I have run a driver update for the items in device manager pertaining to audio.

    Hi,
    Try the following.
Download the IDT Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.
    http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp56001-56500/sp56155.exe
When done, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers.  Right click the IDT device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall.
When complete, restart the notebook and let Windows fully load.  Open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices.  Left click 'Speakers and Headphones' once to highlight it and then click the Set Default button - check if you now have audio.
If you still have no audio, open windows Control Panel, open Administrative Tools and open Services.  Check that the following services are all showing as Status= Started and Start-up Type= Automatic
    Audio Service
    Multimedia Class Scheduler
    Windows Audio
    Windows Audio Endpoint Builder
If you need to make a change to any of the above, just right click the service and select Properties, then in the dropdown box next to 'Start-up type',  select Automatic and click Apply to save the change.  Then click the Start button.

    Hello San123,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I will definitely assist you with the computer's issue regarding lack of sound from the speakers. Before anything else is done, please make sure you try every step in this thread: Troubleshooting Guide: Audio does not Work after a Certain Period of Time
If every step does not help, please provide the following information:
    1. The computer's model number. If you require assistance locating this information, please reference this website: Guide to finding your notebook product number
    2. The computer's operating system. If you require assistance locating this information, please reference this website to determine your Windows operating system.
    3. Does this occur on certain programs, or all programs?
    4. Have you installed any new software or drivers on this computer, before the issue appeared?
    5. What steps have been attempted from my first post on this thread, and what were the results?
Additionally, if the issue just began occurring, I would perform a system restore. I want you to bring the computer back to the earliest restore point possible, in an attempt to dodge whatever caused the issue. Here is a document on how to perform a System Restore: System Restore
Either way, let me know what happens. Thanks!

  • Speakers stopped working on macbook

Internal speakers stopped working all of a sudden.  Headphones work just fine.  Under system preferences there is no choice anymore for internal speakers.

I have the same problem. the fact that this problem is existing since 2006 and Apple doesn't care, makes me very angry. All recommendations in the various forum are nice, but there is none satisfying me. I bought an Apple computer not a Dell machine. maybe I had better bought the Dell one, because I heard the service there is good. I bring my MacBook Pro once in the store to solve the problem. Lets see what they say.

  • X201 Internal Speakers Stop Working

I am having a problem with the internal speakers on the X201.  Basically, the speakers just stop working.  I could be in the middle of playing a song and the speakers pop and then go out.  I have to reboot the system for them to work again.  Headphones still work despite the fact they go out.
I am thinking this is a fault with the IO Assembly board, but am not sure..  I have reinstalled Win7 clean with updated drivers and still see the same problem.
Another interesting thing is I keep getting the disconnect/connect sound ( like you are plugging in a usb device ) at random times.  That always seems to correlate to the windows AUDIODG process.
    Any ideas?

As you have already reinstalled the Operating System and drivers are also updated.
I suggest you to update the BIOS and check

  • The speakers stopped working on my IMac. How do I turn them on again?

I updated some apps and since then, the sound stopped working on the IMac and the M-Audio speakers that are connected to it. They both worked before. The only thing I can figure I did was to update apps. Any other ideas for what went wrong?

I'm running Maverick. I did unplug the speakers, shut down the computer and waited 15 seconds, turned it on and waited 5 seconds before plugging the speakers back in. The sound of the computer coming on is there and there is static when I plug in the speakers.

Get your full Model number or Product number from the Service Tag attached to bottom of laptop (probably  under battery)
How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number
Once you have the info, use the button at top of this page titled "Support", then click "Download drivers" from the menu. Enter your Product Number. After entering PN click 'Go". On the next page use the dropdown menu to select your Operating System, click Next. A list will populate with drivers/software.
Download & Save the latest Audio driver.Go into Control Panel,Programs & Features -Uninstall IDT software.Restart the laptop. After Windows loads, install IDT audio using the downloaded file.
If still no sound, try a hard reset.Disconnect all external devices first.
    1-remove power cord and battery
2-press power button for 30 seconds
3-reinstall only power cord for first startup.
    4-power on

  • My speakers stopped working

Hi, my speakers on my Mac Air, which is a year old, stopped working all of a sudden. I did download the new version of the iOS, so I'm not sure if that might be a problem or not.

did you put your Air to sleep with headphones attached, or closed the monitor with phones attached?
Do not sleep your Air (close the monitor with headphones attached) with headphones attached, this is known to affect some Air under Mavericks.
      * this occurrence is being looked into.
Much testing on my own and others as well show that, in some instances, this occurs in Mavericks.
If you choose you may contact Apple for an appt and diagnostics.
However as said, refrain from having phones attached when you close the monitor to prevent this until it is resolved
    Test this and re-verify

  • Speakers stop working with some apps

how can I fix this. some apps work fine and some apps stop working with speakers but work with earphones.

    Hi everybody and Dadof2girls,
I just fixed my problem. I read a post from somebody that had this problem too and he said that in the update of the os this happens and the settings for the lock rotation button has to be set for sound now. That fixed the problem as this person said.

  • Why did my speakers stop working?

My computer is an HP Touchsmart 25" with Windows 7 64 Bit. The speakers just stopped working.Tried going through the HP sound troubleshooting procedure with no success.

First thing to check is that your drivers for the sound card didn't go corrupt.  Go into device manager under sound and make sure the driver says that is operating normally.  you can also delete that driver and then completely shut down and then restart to let the system replace the driver.  Last, right click on driver update and see if there is a newer driver and that usually will fix the problem.
