"In Car" mode: to avoid texting while driving

Simple solution to Avoid texting while driving.
Just like we swtich on "In Flight" mode...there should be a "In Car "mode. It should do the following things
1) Turn on Bluetooth...and sync with car.
2) If you get a text while in this mode..there will be an automatic response to the text " I am currently driving and can not reply to your text message currently".
3) It should disable you from actively texting.
Thanks,
Chinmay

I love that I found this. I just bought a Honda CR-V and now have the Bluetooth through the car. I absolutely love it. I would love to see a automatic reply when a text comes in to say "I am currently driving, if you need an immediate response please call me so that I can use my Bluetooth". One thing I really love about having the in car Bluetooth, I don't even hear the text come over for some reason. It does not make the sound over the speakers unless I have my radio to Bluetooth for my music.
Now the new Civic comes with a plug where it will read you texts and stuff. They need to make this plug compatible with all vehicles through the USB port in the car.
Come on Apple geniuses you can do this.
Thank you in advance.

i want to disable my son's iphone for texting while driving.  I can find apps for droid and blackberry but not the iphone.  does this exist for iphones?

  • Dropped or Garbled calls while driving (with headset of course)

    I'm in Middlesex MA.
I'm used to being able to drive to work with headset the whole way from worcester to boston on my former sprint pda phone.
I can no longer do this with the iPhone?
    Any ideas?
What's weird is I can be sitting in traffic on the pike and not moving and it will show 5 bars. I connect it drops to 0 and cannot connect (fast busy). I hit try again it fails. I hit try again and then it works.
    Thanks

No, as that would require an App to interact and control parts of the basic OS which Apple do not permit.
I did read somewhere, although I have not looked for it, about an App which prevents the phone from being accessible if its moving above a certain speed, like walking pace.

  • Can i use itunes radio without wifi like while driving in my car?

can i use itunes radio without sifi like while driving in my car?

Actually yes, beacause you have 4g or LTE and it will service with the WIFI, although it will cost cause for the internet like 4g and LTE so don't use too much. PS: I learned it the hard way.

  • Text messages not being sent with Google Now or in Car Mode

When attempting to send a text message by voice using either Google Now or when in Car Mode, the text message gets created correctly to the right person, and the content of the message is correct.  When I confirm to send the message, I always get "Message Not Sent".  I'm able to send text messages manually using the standard Messages app.  Researching this issue, I've seen that there are some others having the same problem but I have not found or heard of a resolution.

    I don't have a Verizon Messages app.

  • The iPhone needs a car mode

I'm very pleased so far with my Iphone except for one problem. I always would use my old Ipod in the car every day, and it was easy to use, just plug the aux in to the headphone jack and play it. Switching from song to song if I needed was easy, I just had to press right on the well or left, no need to look at the actual ipod whild doing this, and pausing was just as easy.
    Problem:
But with the Iphone its very difficult to actually control the ipod features while driving. The buttons are not easy to hit if your trying to concentrate on driving and not finding the buttons, pausing is just as difficult.
    Solution:
On the contrary it seems like an easy fix for apple. Just add in a car mode for the ipod functionality.
Skipping songs: Simply touch somewhere on the screen and drag to the left to skip back, and drag to the right to skip forward. This would effectively eliminate the problem of having to look at the iphone to find the skip button when your driving.
Pausing/Playing: I'm sure someone could think of a good tapping method for this, or maybe dragging the up or down would pause and stop.
It just seems to me that using the ipod functions in the car while driving is actually dangerous if you want to switch songs, pause, play and whatnot because it requires looking at the phone. (im sure some peoples solution is to just use a playlist, but thats really not ideal if you are tired of a song, or just need to pause for a moment.)

I just purchased an install the Alpine CDA-9886 car audio receiver in my car, with the KCE-411i iPod Adapter. The 9886 has iPod controls built in and works with my iPhone. You just use the actual buttons on the receiver, rather than the phone, to pick your songs, playlist, volume, pause, play, etc.

  • ][Music] Make Spotify Safe While Driving

Dear Spotify, As someone who loves to jam out in my car, I (and I'm sure many others) would love a feature that makes it safer to skip, pause, and play songs while driving. In my experience trying to find safe driving apps for music streaming, I could never find one that was compatible with Spotify. So I'd like to suggest a possible add-on or app that would make Spotify jamming safer for drivers. Maybe something with features like double-tap to pause and play, swiping left or right to skip or go back to songs, tap and hold for microphone and talk-back commands to request playlists or artists. I have an app on my Motorola called "Assist" that detects when I'm driving through GPS. Maybe a feature like that could work with this app too. I'm sure theres a lot more to consider when making an app. I'm not too informed in subjects like this but I hope this is a helpful suggestion if ya'll need ideas on how to make it easier for users to blast "Get Low" by Lil John out their cars hands-free. To the windooooooww to the waaaaalllll!!! Till sweat drops down my.... Sincerely,  Giselle

  • Car mode incomming MSG pop up

when receiving new msg while car mode is running, a nice big pop up offer the option to close/open or call back the number. The openned displayed text MSG is in bigger adaped font but what is nicer is that the msg reader is automatically triggered. Hoever those pop up will not apear while navigating with drive even if started from car mode.Since car mode is already altering the drive menu to replace the exit button by the car mode button I am sure that overlaying those pop up while navigating could be done.I hope  that the car mod development team still supportinf future updates. nokia N8 belle FP1

    it`s pretty easy:
In my Compponent 'CALL_TRANS' i created an Interface Node with my parameters.
The Component which call the CALL_TRANS Comp, mapped this Node and supplied the data.

  • Why no car mode for music app?

The buttons are tiny, the small gray and white album/artist/song text on a dark gray background is impossible to read, the album art area is unnecessarily large for driving and wasting valuable space that could be used for other functions, like swiping fingers for next and previous track or pause. All the potential that the iPod Touch has, and the music app is so plain and boring and featureless. I would like to see either an update for the music app to make operation more safe while driving, or a music app dedicated to having gigantic buttons and finger swiping and big song text so I can see what's playing without taking my eyes off the road for more than 1 second. 90% of the music I listen to is while I'm in my car, and I'm sure there are many others who can relate. Not sure if there has already been a topic on this, didn't take the time to look, but I would appreciate some feedback. I don't need tips on using it in its current state, I need some change!

Press Home Button quickly two times to get the background Apps to show in the bottom row. In this bottom row press and hold an Icon to get the red minus sign to show. Press the minus sign to delete them from memory, make sure that you especially remove the Music App from memory. Now go back to your Music App and see if it works OK.
Well the problem is more serious than I thought. Good luck with the Restore.

  • Can't Do That While Driving

I have an iPhone 5 with the latest version of IOS 8. I have a pioneer head unit in my vehicle.  My goal is when I push and hold the Bluetooth button on my phone, Siri comes on and I can ask to open Slacker Radio or Pandora Radio and have the music play.
This goal cannot be accomplished because Siri then reports back to me, "I'm sorry, I can't do that while driving" Very ironic that the phone is trying to prevent me from using it while driving, but at the same time forcing me to look at it while driving, which is the very thing I'm trying to avoid by using Bluetooth hands free.
This is the reason I may be switching to Android. Has anyone else experienced this, and if so, is there any bypass to this?

As a matter of fact there is. You put your hand on the radio and tune it....been doing it for decades.

  • [iOS][Playlists] Car Mode Suggestions

The main reason I have Spotify is for my commute. And there are a few improvements I wish could be made for the Car Mode. 1) Using the Spotify feature integrated into my car, I can scroll to a playlist and select a song. But once that song is selected, I can't select another song in that playlist easily. (Aside from just hitting previous or next.) It makes me select "Playlists," find the playlist I want, and scroll through everything again.  2) Which brings me to my second suggestion. There's a short limit on how many songs appear on my screen (car screen, not phone)... I continually have to hit next if the song I want is at the end of a playlist. Can you remove that limit or at least make it larger? (I think it's currently at 25 or something like that.) 3) Finally, if you're going to lock the entire app while in car mode, I'd like to have a search function integrated into my car system. Thank you!

    Updated: 2015-07-29Hello there!
Thanks for the feedback, unfortunately we can only handle 1 feature request per topic, otherwise it's impossible to manage the received kudos / give the idea a proper status.
If you want to start a general feedback topic, that's great! But please use the respective help forum then. ;)
When you're re-posting those ideas in separate topics, please make sure to use the search function, since a lot of ideas might already be out there in the ideas forum. Also make sure to mention what kind of car system you're using.
    Thanks again!

  • Car mode sv display brightness

HI i am using car mode on my N8 belle Fp1. but regardless that i use the ``light on`` app to keep the screen light on and i select the brightness to full and even set ``situations`` to have the brightness to full when me ``car`` situation is set. ``car mode`` always turn the lighting/brightness down after a minute or two. That would be very nice at night time but is anoying during day driving and especially with sun glasses.``Car mode`` offer no setting to cancel this behavior. At least if it would thake the ambiant light sensor readings in acount it would would be helpfull. In the next update it would be nice to adress that issue.

So finnally, I found a work around, since I set ``lights on`` to always ask, when detecting the charger, I found out that it will only apply on the top application or home screen pending witch ever come first. The ``lights on`` querry pop up MSG appear at charger connection and before my CAR mode starts. So that's the Car Mode overrides settings that take over and only the ``keep display from blocking`` remain. Then it will revert to it's dimm setting without locking. If I reset My car charger off then back on after Car Mode is up then the display will remain full bright as intended. So let say that I can live with it.

  • Car Mode App on Nokia N8

Due to the sensitivity of the N8 sensor in landscape mode when driving the screen switches from portrait to landscape and is unuseable. I have to fix the screen in one landscape with a separate app before loading the Car Mode app and this is very annoying.
There needs to be an option to force the screen into auto/landscape/portrait in the app itself.
You can see how I'm using my Nokia N8 for all my video/image footage and for live recording on my around the world tour on a diesel motorcycle here:
    http://www.andrewcharnley.com/?resources;module=view;id=259

You should have directly downloaded it to your mobile. Certain apps are restircted for mobile downloads only, as this one. Even if u managed to download it to your pc still u won't be able to install in yr mobile as .sis file is now converted to .dm. file format and your mobile will not recognise this file. To reconvert this file to sis format you need to modify the programming of this software. (Call it hacking or Unofficial/illegal way of modifyiing a software). So i am afraid its out of the bounds of this discussion forum and even if i tell u the procedure to hack it, the post will be edited by moderaters. So better luck googling.

  • Nokia Car Mode with mirrorlink - can't buy or inst...

    Hi there.
I have a problem with Nokia Car Mode with mirrorlink app.
    I can't buy it!
I'm using the Nokia 808 FP2 and the Car Mode comes preinstalled but every time I want to buy the mirrorlink app it just says that I can launch it, and when I click it it just opens the ordinary Car Mode app!
I've bough a Alpine ICS-X8 just so that I can use my phone with this radio, and now I can't even buy it! -.-
Please fiy that as soon as you can, couse I see that I'm not the only onw ith the problem...
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi.
    Here my solution.
At the end, the only way for me to install Mirrorlink in my Nokia 700 with FP2 as I don't have another phone with FP1 was to install a custom rom with car mode removed and then buy the Mirrorlink app in the Nokia store from the phone.
As the car mode is not installed there´s no problem in buying, downloading and installing the Mirrorlink app.
Then you install the official firmware back if you don´t like the custom, and go back to Nokia store and there's no problem now updating to Mirrorlink.
As I didn't find a custom rom without car mode I did one myself.
It's not too complicated to do one for yourself, in my case I took the Delight custom rom for the Nokia 700 (if you use it just donate to the author), then with Nokia Cooker program (if you use it just donate to the author) edit it looking in rofsx2, rofsx3 and core for any file with "carmode" and remove it.
Then you compile it, save the modified rom and flash it into your Nokia and thats all.
The first time you turn on your phone will appear an error but its because the system expects to find the carmode app and it's not installed (you need more knowledge of symbian programming to avoid that) but as soon as you install mirrorlink the error dissapear.
If you find this useful please le me know saying something in the forum.

  • Samsung Stratosphere - Car Mode

My phone sometimes puts itself into car mode and there is a little steering wheel in the top corner of the screen and the screen stays lit. I don't know how to do this myself. I want to be able to do this for when I am driving and want to make a call but the stupid screen is always dark. Anyone else know what I am talking about?

    spikiemom,
What an unusual issue! I researched and found no related concerns, however I'm happy to get this resolved with you today.
Did you notice this happen after any update to the device or an application installation? First, I want you to check Settings> Applications>Manage Apps>All, and check for 'Car Mode' or 'Car Dock' if listed you want to tap 'Clear Data' to get rid of its default settings. Another great tool is enabling safe mode to determine if this is caused by any corrupt application installed from Google Play/Google Market. If the device runs in safe mode and does not encounter the safe mode issue, then we can conclude it's application related. If that is the case, the best step is to remove any recently installed (or updated) applications one at a time till the issue is resolved. If this fails, a hard reset may be necessary. The important to remember is the reset erased all the data, including the contacts, calendar events, and applications. Google/Gmail should be backing up your information since you activated the device, just sign into www.google.com/contacts to double check. After the rest, the on-screen activation steps will walk you through signing back into Gmail so your personal information syncs back to the device, along with your paid applications.
Please advise if this issue continues so I and the community can assist further.
    Thank you!
