In Cp 6, background color becomes pixelated
Hello,
I'm using Cp 6 and my background color (blue desktop) is pixelated in my recording. I've changed the Video Color Mode from 16 bit to 32 bit but the background still comes out pixelated. Not sure if that's the right description but the blue color become radiates out from a point on the screen, showing different color rings of blue. The remaining items on my desktop (shortcuts, Recycle Bin, Computer, etc.) seem fine. Any suggestions, please?
Thank you,
Jeanne
Hi Lilybiri,
I'm probably not being clear. I'm attempting to record a software
simulation. When I'm recording and starting on my desktop to open the
application's shortcut, the background color records in a distorted
(pixelated is what I was calling it) way. When I record video which is not
what I want, the desktop background records fine. Is there a setting I can
adjust when doing a simulation so the blue desktop doesn't distort, please?
Thank you,
Jeanne

Why does the background color change?
Hello world...
I have a problem: when I load an external .swf into my current stage, its background color becomes like the one of current stage. Why?
Please, help me.
Emiliano.It's because there actually is no background inside Flass. That colored area (stage) you place your items on is just there to help you see them.
For your problem, just place a colored rectangle on the bottom most layer and you'll be good. -
Why does JButton background color change when clicking ?
Hello,
I have defined :
JButton mybutton = new JButton(Icon xxx) ;
with no associated text and I set both foreground and background colors to black, and an empty border.
This is because the background color of the container which contents this button is also black and I want to see only the button icon.
When I click on the icon , the button background color becomes grey. How can I change this to make it remains black ?
Thanks a lot.
GegeWell, the color changes because that is how the look and feel is defined,
presumably to give better feedback to the user that she has clicked the
button.
If you don't want this, you could try using a different L&F which doesn't do this.
Alternatively, If you've only got the one button, you could just do
UIManager.put( "Button.select", Color.BLACK );If you have multiple buttons, and you want the other buttons to behave
normally, you can extend the one button and have it change the color
while it is pressed, e.g.,
import java.awt.*;
import java.io.IOException;
import java.net.URL;
import javax.swing.*;
public class ButtonSelect extends JFrame {
public ButtonSelect() throws IOException {
super();
setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE);
JPanel panel = new JPanel();
panel.add( new JButton( "Normal" ) );
Image img = Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit().getImage( new URL("http://www.google.com/intl/en/images/logo.gif" ) );
ImageIcon ii = new ImageIcon( img );
JButton b = new JButton( ii ) {
static final private String KEY = "Button.select";
public void paint( Graphics g ) {
Color save = null;
if ( getModel().isArmed() && getModel().isPressed() ) {
save = UIManager.getColor( KEY );
UIManager.put( KEY, Color.WHITE );
super.paint( g );
if ( save != null )
UIManager.put( KEY, save );
b.setForeground( Color.WHITE );
b.setBackground( Color.WHITE );
b.setFocusPainted( false );
panel.add( b );
getContentPane().add( panel );
pack();
setVisible( true );
public static void main( String[] a ) throws IOException {
new ButtonSelect();

Weird connection "background color of subdiagram label" & "use transparent name labels"
I stumbled upon the following side effect in LabVIEW 2013:
1) Turn off the option "use transparent name labels" in blockdiagram options.
2) now create a while loop
3) show the subdiagram label of the while loop
Because of the changes already discussed here you end up with a WHITE text label on WHITE background.
Maybe I'm "old school" because up to now I liked turning off the "transparent name label" (resulting in labels with a black frame), but a resulting white text on white background on the while loop makes this option now virtually meaningless (I know about the workarounds mentioned in the link above).
Anyway my question:
Why does this connection between the color of the subdiagram label and the option "use transparent name label" exist at all?
Regards, JensJuliaO wrote:
I tried all the settings you said in your last post, and I made a screenshot as a "summary" (I attached it to this post).
The changes at "label" when you disable the transparent name labels are in my opinion understandable. But the fact that for "subdiagram label" the background color becomes white and the font color stays white is not understandable to me.
I think it is a bug, and i will clarify how to proceed further.
Regards, Julia
Hi Julia,
that's is exactly what I meant. There shouldn't be any connection between the colors used for the subdiagram labels and the settings for name labels, as the subdiagram labels only make sense with the default settings. Thanks for creating a CAR. Please have a look, that this problem exists in LabVIEW 2012, 2013 and 2014. It is not as annoying in 2012 as the default color for the text in while loop subdiagram label is still black.

Footer now floating in middle of page and no background color
Hello all,
Been working on this for days with no luck. I hope someone can spot the silly mistake, because I know it has to be something silly but it's driving me round the bend! The page has always been just fine until I recoded part of the body (the four columns with titles, photos, and text) to help with 508 compliance. Since then, the orange footer that was firmly at the bottom has started floating half way up the page and the background orange color has disappeared.
I've gone through my code line by line, marking off each beginning and ending div tag and everything is fine there. Below, is a screenshot of the lower half of the page showing how the footer should look.
Here is a screenshot of how it looks offline right now:
as you can hopefully see, the footer has lost it's orange background and is sitting halfway up the page.

What I found after taking out the heights from the text areas is that I was left with uneven text column lengths (alternating beige areas). So I created a repeatable jpg with the same alternating beiges and put it as the background of the bodyArea tag. Again, if there is a better way, please let me know!
A repeating background image to 'fake' equal height columns is perfectly ok.
It won't work IF your page is responsive but it isn't so no problem. If it were responsive a better solution would be to take advantage of the css property display: table; and display: table-cell;
In reference to your footer background color not showing I would assume you have floated items within the footer container. If so then you need to clear those floated items which allows the footer container to wrap itself around the floated items inside it.
You would do this by using css - overflow: hidden; - on the parent container which has the floats inside it. -
Printing AnyGantt creates black background color
I use a customized AnyGantt chart. When I try to print it on a page A3 I get a mean issue with the background color. It becomes black. The Chart itself looks good.
When I try the same with examples from AnyChart.com the no black background appears. I don't see a difference.
The black background occurs with my PDF Creator, my real printer and if I save it as a picture.
Example application: http://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=ANYGANTT_PROBLEM:1
If you add my source code as XML data you should see a nice Gantt diagram with damn printing problems!
Here is my source code:

Hi AnyChart-team!
I have a huge problem with printing an AnyGantt chart.
The description of problem:
When I use the following syntax in my style section:
<styles>
<period_styles>
<period_style name="p1">
<bar_style>
<labels>
<label>
<text>{%start}</text>
<font color="Black" />
</label>
</labels>
<middle shape="Full">
<fill enabled="true" type="Solid" color="DarkSeaGreen" />
<border enabled="true" color="#656565" />
</middle>
</bar_style>
</period_style>
</period_styles>
</styles>The print output crashes with the effect that some shapes are not visible anymore. If I use no Label styles then it works:
<styles>
<period_styles>
<period_style name="p1">
<bar_style>
<middle shape="Full">
<fill enabled="true" type="Solid" color="DarkSeaGreen" />
<border enabled="true" color="#656565" />
</middle>
</bar_style>
</period_style>
</period_styles>
</styles>I came along another issue with an old Flash Player version and tried the newest one: 10,1,102,64
Then this issue came up. In the older version: 10,8,84 it worked without any issues.
The PDF: Flash.pdf shows the problem.
I do not understand the black background color inside the PDF either?

Background color fade/gradiation
Hi all. I am trying to make a basic html page in Dreamweaver
with a purple background color that is darkest at the top, then
fades gradually as you look down the page. Any advice? Thanks in
advance!.oO(Gary White)

It wasn't my intention to do an unfair comparison. I justed
wanted to
show the subtle differences, which _might_ become visible in
some cases.
I've already seen things like mysterious horizontal stripes
in an
otherwise smooth gradient, simply caused by JPEG compression
artefacts
and slightly mis-colored pixels. Tiled horizontally such
wrong pixels
might become a visible line. The second image was just meant
to better
show where such glitches may come from.

I usually also aim for best display. And thankfully in this
case the PNG
not only has best display, but also best compression. ;-)
The difference in your FF compared to the other browsers
could be a
configuration issue (color management maybe), because in my
FF 3 the
result is almost identical to the one in Opera. The thing in
IE is
clearly a bug, but IE 6 also has such problems in some cases.
The only question is if such a difference is acceptable or
not. Usually
I can live with that, but it also depends on the page and its
content.

Changing font and background color for all components
Hi,
This is my first time writing a GUI, and I'm pretty new to Swing and Java. I just recently switched from C++, and so far Java seems to be doing a nice job =)
Currently I have a gazilion components (textfields, labels, panels) and I'm wondering if there is a way to change their background/foreground colours without adding in setBackground/setForeground for every single component.
I've done some researching onto using Look and Feel, but there aren't any current ones that suits my needs. And everyone seems to mention that programming your own is pretty complicated.
My boss wants a slick white text on black background interface, so you can imagine that he's not very impressed with the current default greyish colours =)
Thank you for any help!
CindyHi Cindy,
I'm not sure how effective a solution this will be, but you could try:UIManager.put("TextField.background", Color.BLACK); // Default text field background becomes blackThere are many more defaults you'd have to change and could probably achieve it more reliably and simply by creating or editing the properties file that controls the way the look and feel (even if it's the default) is implemented. Take a look at:
http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/api/javax/swing/UIManager.htmlHope this is helpful

Could some kind soul explain to me how I can set the background of a textfield to some color other than white in Interface Builder?
Here is a screenshot of my panel.
http://zach.in.tu-clausthal.de/tmp/textfield.png
The textfield is labeled "Image exclusion options" (in the screenshot it is selected).
No matter what I try in Interface Builder, I can't get the background to become some other color than white.
Does anyone have an idea? Do I really need to write several lines of code for that?
Thanks a lot in advance.
Best regards,
Gabriel.Have you tried to select Draw background?
Yes, but IB always deselects it again.
You could also use NSTextFields setBackgroundColor Methode
ah, yes, but I was hoping to find a more elegant solution, because, you see, I don't need to access that field from my program at all (other than changing the background color ...)
Best regards,
Gabriel. -
Background color gets offset in Configurator and Photoshop (Mac OS)
I have a panel with a HTML widget. I set the background color with CSS to #d6d6d6 to match Photoshop. However, my panel does not get the color I picked for it, instead it gets the color #cdcdcd (a slightly darker gray).
As a workaround I set the color to #dedede which will then become #d6d6d6 and thus matching the gui of Photoshop.
So far so good.
On the Mac.
Today I noticed that on Windows my panel is too bright...
So it seems to be a Mac OSX thing. Anyone know what's going on here?So far I'm using a workaround where I check the OS of the user with javascript. I then change the background color accordingly.

Help setting the background color in the browser
I’m setting up my web pages to be 960 x 600 pixels (or possibly 960 x 660). How do I define a background color for the overflow in case people are viewing on higher than 1024 x 768 resolution - right now everything outside of my webpage shows up as the default white.
ThanksUse CSS.

JTextComponent - setEditable background color
I have a subclass of JTextField. I am doing manipulations of the background color (red when validation failed). When the program sets the text field to be not editable I want the default disabled background color (transparent?) to be displayed.
However, in some cases I am getting a background of white when it is disabled.
What is setEditable doing to change the background from white to grey? If I have the background color set to RED how do I change it so that grey will be shown?
Thanks,
JohnI am trying to understand what setEditable does WRT the background color / transpanency. In the below code, when you press the button the first time, the background of the textfield becomes grey. If you press it again it becomes white. Is this because setEditable doesn't do anything if the field is already editable?

[Solved] Lua with Conky gives unwanted background color
Hi,
I've Googled and ransacked the forum looking for an answer. I have Conky with lua on KDE4 and I cannot run both together without creating an unwanted background. After getting sidetracked with KDE4 transparency considerations, I discovered that if I start Conky without Lua, I can get proper transparency. If I start Conky with Lua enabled I get a background color. The Lua script doesn't seem to have any background settings. I'm not sure what files are relevant to post, the conkyrc and or the Lua script, which is quite large. I'm reasonably au fait with Conky but this is the first Conky I cannot get to function correctly. My basic question is how to use Lua without starting a background color. Here is where I got the original files http://www.linuxandlife.com/2012/06/get … -your.html . Of course, I can post the relevant Lua file if necessary but, as I mentioned, it is quite large and I'm not clear on forum rules regarding posting large files of this type. Here's how Conky starts Lua:
lua_load ~/.conky/avi9526_conky.lua
lua_draw_hook_pre Widgets
Thanks for your time.
In case anyone is interested, changing line 1236 of the Lua script to cairo_set_source_rgba(CairoContext, 0.6, 0.61, 0.62, 0.0) did the trick.
Last edited by Foxblood (2013-04-28 14:07:15)If you set your minimum_size and maximum_width variables you can make it any size that you want.
So, lets say that you are using a 1280x1024 screensize.
You can set your minimum_size to be 1200. If you don't provide a second option, you are specifying the width.
Then, if you set your maximum_width to be 1280, or, if you want a 1 pixel gap on either side 1278, then your conky will not go off the sides of the screen, and if you use any align option, then it will stay within that specified width.
P.S. The reason that it doesn't go all the way across your screen right now, is because there is not enough information being displayed to warrant anything larger.

Can anybody say why In the layer menu, the background color is white when opening a layer mask, and why does it automatically turns black by simply opening the layer mask properties menu? The vector mask is white anyway.
Topic or subject titles should be clear, pertinent and concise so that individual users can tell at a glance if they can help or not.
That field is not for attempting to fit your entire question in there.
Please keep this in mind next time you post. Thank you.
A lot more information about your hardware and software is needed.
BOILERPLATE TEXT:
If you give complete and detailed information about your setup and the issue at hand,
such as your platform (Mac or Win),
exact versions of your OS, of Photoshop (not just "CC", but something like CC2014.v.2.2) and of Bridge,
your settings in Photoshop > Preference > Performance
the type of file you were working on,
machine specs, such as total installed RAM, scratch file HDs, total available HD space, video card specs, including total VRAM installed,
what troubleshooting steps you have taken so far,
what error message(s) you receive,
if having issues opening raw files also the exact camera make and model that generated them,
if you're having printing issues, indicate the exact make and model of your printer, paper size, image dimensions in pixels (so many pixels wide by so many pixels high). if going through a RIP, specify that too.
a screen shot of your settings or of the image could be very helpful too,
etc.,
someone may be able to help you (not necessarily this poster, who is not a Windows user).

Alert Control - Background Color
Hi everybody,
I've been trying to change the background color of the Alert
Control.
The only thing that I got close to, what using the
myAlert.setStyle("backgroundColor",......). However, it only
changed the
inner background, not the background of the main Alert. Can
somebody point
me in the right direction?
Thanks,
JGWell, that was actually quite simple. I was exploring the
classes and their
parents, it was getting a little confusing. Then I started
inspecting the
Alert box created. I noticed I has getting 3 children being
created:
[INFO] Alert6.border (object):
[INFO] Alert6.UIComponent8 (object):
[INFO] Alert6.AlertForm14 (object):
so I started looking at the border class, then programmatic
skin etc... Long
story short, I went back to the doc on the Alert control,
there are actually
several styles related to border, it's quite misleading
because it actually
related to this 20 pixel edge around the content of the
alert. So with a
combination of border styles and background styles you can
actually get your
control to look the way you want. Here is my code:
var myAlert:Alert = Alert.show("An error occured while
loading from the
server.", "Error", Alert.YES, this);
myAlert.setStyle("borderColor", "#75734f");
myAlert.setStyle("backgroundColor", "#75734f");
And actually, from the doc:
BorderAlpha - Alpha of the title bar, control bar and sides
of the Panel.
just need to take time to read the doc sometimes.... ;-)
