In CS4 when moving an image it duplicates rather than moves

When I have a logo on my artboard and try to move it. It duplicates rather than moves. I can't get this to stop. Any Ideas??

My guess is you are on 10.6.5 or 10.6.6 on the mac.
There is a technical problem between apples updates and Adobe creative suite. There is no official one solution, and Adobe has been aware of this problem for a few months now. The problem is that modifier keys are doing the opposite or being held down always.

If you are on 10.6.5, you might as well update to 10.6.6 before anything. Try this utility. The name is scary because of hack, but is is safe and made by and Adobe employee Jesper Bache.

Also try updating firefox, and disabling dropbox if using that.

Image size changes when moving an image between Lightroom and CC.
I opened a .dng image in LR and then opened it in the Develop module. I clicked on Crop Overlay and then on the ‘As Shot’ drop down menu (the lock is closed) and cropped to 11 x 17 and clicked ‘Done’-.
I click Cntl-E and the image opens in CC. There I click on Image > Image Size and the Image Size is 13.288 inches by 20.533 inches.
Why does the image size change?
I believe there is a menu to control the size of the image and I've looked everywhere I can think of in LR and CC, I googled various descriptions and I checked two of Scott Kelby's books, but I just can't figure out how to keep the image a consistent size when moving between LR and CC.

In Lightroom all editing is undoable/nondestructive.
Hence a crop of 3x2 is not inches, centimetres, pixels or anything else. It is jst a ratio. When a file is exported, either to PS or disk, then the crop ratio has size determined in respect of pixels and inches or cms.
So my 6000x5000 pixel image I will crop to 3x2 that leaves (before exporting) a 6000x4000 file.
Now when exported it can be set to export at
100pixels per inch and will end up at 60x40" when printed.
200pixels per inch will end up at 30x20"
300ppi will end at 20x13.3"
You will notice in the Crop Tool there are no size denominations such as inches or centimetres as an image file only has pixels and the determination of size is done through exporting or printing.

Usually pink\purple background appears when "Show Grid Overlay" is enabled.
please go to View > Hide Grid Overlay and see if it works.
I am not sure if it will fix the problem as you said that pink\purple background appears when you place a swf file only.
If this do not fix the problem I would request you to share the screenshot of the design mode for better idea of the problem.

A new tab opens by default as a blank tab (about:blank).
If that isn't the case then an extension has changed that behavior.

HP Scan 1 bit scan to pdf embeds images as jpeg rather than tiff

Using HP Scan (latest version to date of 32.30.198.49673) and scanning in 'Black and White' to PDF (not 'Searchable PDF'), the image is embedded into the PDF as a jpeg (!!!), which means that the file is much larger than it needs to be, as it could go in as a lossless 1 bit tiff file. The image in the PDF looks like a 1 bit image, but 1 bit jpegs do not exist of course.
So, on a medium high image quality setting I get a file size (for a particular document) of 546KB, whereas the same scan to 1 bit tiff (on the same device with using HP scan) is 36kB (15 times smaller)
To be sure that it was embedding the scanned image as a jpeg instead of a tiff I set the file quality to low and you could see the jpeg compression artifacts which were a mixture of greys - thereby proving that it was a greyscale jpeg (of course, 1 bit jpegs don't exist), even though, visually, it looks just like a 1 bit scan in all other ways.
How can I get HP Scan, when I choose 'Black and White' to 'PDF', to embed the image as a 1 bit Tiff file, rather than a greyscale jpeg? I don't really want to store a file that is 15 times bigger in file size than it needs to be.

Welcome to the HP forums.
I understand that you would like the images saved as a .tiff instead of a .jpeg, when you scan to PDF.
Unfortunately there is no option to change how HP's software creates the PDFs.
You will most likely need 3rd party software to optimize your scanning results.

When do you need Internet Tethering rather than Blackberry Bridge?

I've been using my new Playbook Bridged to my Bold 9700 since I got it. Since I've been able to get to every site I wanted to get to on the browser all of this time using the Bridge, I didn't even know about Tethering.
Today I was attempting to setup some new email addresses to the Playbook, and it said that it couldn't do it till I enabled the Internet Tethering option. The tethering would occur to the same Bold 9700 anyways that it is currently Bridged to. So what are the times that Tethering is required rather than the Bridge?

Bridge mode works as an extension of the phone. Browsing with tether gives greater speed and better stability especially with sites that stream or load with a lot of data.
Tethering uses the phone as a mobile modem rather than a pass through data device. When bridged the tablet is read back as if it is a phone rather than a stand alone tablet computer type device. In the bridge mode some sites may appear as if for a mobile phone rather than for a tablet or computer.
My preference is to use tethering whem web browsing. I use the bridge mode mainly for email, schedules, and PDA type functions.

Unwanted image size change when moving a image it's Tab to another Tab in CC 2014

Hi, I opened a photo with a physical size 16"w 36"h. Since role paper comes in 24" width, I proceeded with expanding the canvas size to 24"w, height is unchanged at 36". Then I opened two photos in separate tabs in Photoshop, changed the image sizes to 8"w x 12"h. One Photo is from a 36megapixel camera and the other from a 16megapixel camera. Created two layers in the 24x36 image tab. Then I proceeded to copy each photo and paste in each of those layers (one image per layer in case you’re wondering). The problem is as follows, the copied images are larger when pasted into those layers, 10” wide and not 8”, 14”high and not 12”. Thinking maybe the canvas size had something to do with this, so I made that change. The result was the same, larger when pasted into those layers, 10” wide and not 8”, 14”high and not 12”. Could someone please advise what I’ve done wrong? Note, the ruler bars are visible. Thanks

When you bring one image into another, it is the pixel size that counts. The physical size of the source image becomes irrelevant.

Stay on crop tool when moving from image to image?

Is there a way for the crop tool to remain selected when I progress from one image to the next? For example, today I have about 100 images in a row that I want to crop (not all in the same way, mind you), and every time I move from one image to the next I default back to the selection tool. It's a bit of a PITA to have to re-select the crop tool every time before drawing my crop box. Is there a way around this? TIA.

Don't you have to hit the return key to get the crop to "take" before switching images?
In that case, you can hit the 'c' key to re-activate the crop key before selecting the region for the next photo.

PC freezes with CS4 when editing imported image in imported 1.5 project

I am new to CS4. I have imported a PPro 1.5 project into CS4. Initially, I tried to launch the CS4 project by double clicking the 1.5 project. The 1.5 project was converted to CS4, however, when the CS4 project opened, there was not timeline. I deleted the CS4 project, then opened CS4 as a new project selecting the corresponding 1.5 sequence. A timeline was created. I then imported the 1.5 project. However, this time there was no indication of a project conversion. I cut the project where I wanted to insert three jpg photos that were dragged from the project area into the timeline. I used the 'Change to Color' Effect to harmonize the color in the three photos. Each time I tried the effect my PC froze requiring a restart.
What am I doing wrong or is there an error in the steps I have taken?

I googled the error messg you got in your event log; Got an answer like this below:
Source/Error #: Disk / error 51
Message: An error was detected on device \Device\Harddisk3\DR3 during a paging operation.
Notes: This error indicates an I/O error during a hard page fault. Discussed in KBs 304415 and 305547.
I've built a couple computers but I'm no expert. I kind of thought when I first read about your problems that the crashing might be a memory page swapping problem though I couldn't tell you why ...maybe the specs on your machine being so fast and powerful and the size of your AVI..and the fact it was freezing.
I don't think this has anything at all to do with a hard drive driver, but latency between a memory page swap and getting through to your hard drive to finish the write to the drive.
Further googling about the error message gave me the following info: but it seems you'd have to extract what is applicable to your situation.
It may be that you have two variables happening at the same time in comparison to what you accomplished before with 1.5 ?
1) a new machine
2) a new program (CS4)
I thought the reference below to using the local (boot) disk (instead of Disk 04) might be interesting to try ??

Your computer stops responding (hangs) or has slow response times. This can indicate that there is a high latency to the pagefile, and this may be accompanied by events in the System Log such as:

If the preceding error messages are in the System Log, it indicates that Windows was trying to access a disk and there was a problem. If the disk that is referenced is on the SAN, it could indicate a latency issue. If an Event ID 51 is shown, this indicates that Memory Manager was attempting to copy data to or from memory and had a problem. Another indicator of pagefile latency issues is if the Windows server has a system failure, and either of the following error messages are displayed on a blue screen:

0x0000000A IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
A possible resolution is to place the pagefile on the host's local hard disk. Windows needs reliable access to the pagefile as data is paged in or out of memory. Having the pagefile local to the host guarantees that access is not influenced by other devices and hosts on the SAN.
Note If the pagefile is not on the same partition as the boot partition (typically c:\Windows or c:\WINNT), the creation of a Memory.dmp file will not occur. A Memory.dmp file is used for troubleshooting a Windows computer that has a STOP error. For information about how to configure your computer for a crashdump, see Windows Help.
There are several ways to resolve the preceding problems. The first method is to try and correlate the time with any events that are occurring on the SAN. For example, it HostA was doing a large copy operation and HostB reports the Error 9s, it may imply that proper LUN management is not in place. Another example is if HostB produces errors whenever HostA is rebooted. This may indicate that FC-AL is being used and HostB is being affected by a Loop Initialization Primitive (LIP) sequences from HostA. These can often be corrected by re-configuring the SAN, and this requires the assistance of the hardware vendor. Any type of latency issues might be resolved by placing pagefile on the Windows server's local hard disk, but again, this disables the creation of a memory dump. A key point to understand is that the hardware vendor of the SAN will have the most information about the proper configuration, and must be the first point of contact for all configuration questions and concerns.

Moving an image on a different layer moves other objects in another layer?

I've got two layers (this happens with only one layer as well). In the first layer I've got an image, some rectangles, and a couple of text boxes. In layer 2 I've only got one image. When I move the image up or down Muse also moves some of the objects in layer 1. How can I prevent this from happening? It's resizing or moving them all out of wack.

Kindly lock the layer that you are not currently working on, before making edits or moving content in the other layers. (In this case, lock layer 1 before moving objects in layer 2)
Locking will ensure that you do not accidentally select and edit the objects/layers.

Which version of the bridge are you using using Bridge CS6 or Bridge CC and which OS are you using. Use Bridge menu Help>About Bridge... Both may be on your machine

My document don't print the same color when I print it from PDF rather than InDesign

Our Network services group is pushing back the use Oracle VirtualBox since we have VMware as our standard. We have decided to not fight it, and install our upgrade and Update images on VMware.
