In-dash monitor problem. HELP!

I'm desperately trying to buy an in-dash dvd player for my boyfriend and I'm useless when it comes to these things.
He once hinted about one with a 7" screen and when you press a button the screen conceals itself when not in use.  The only luck i've been having are the ones that you push the screen in manually.
Best buy. com has a in-dash dvd player with a 7" screen that is motorized.  Is that what I'm looking for?

  • Dash Monitor Widget help

I have OSX 10.4.10 and I downloaded and tried out the Dash Monitor widget found here:
    http://www.apple.com/downloads/dashboard/status/dashmonitors.html
I somehow now have two installation files. One works fine, the other I've tried to delete but all I get is errors such as "MTKNetwork is in use", "MTKMemory is in use", "MTKDisc is in use", "MTKCPU is in use" and the "The operation cannot continue because the item 'mtk' is in use". If I try and install it, I get an error that it is not a valid widget and I cannot install it.
I extracted the installation file again from the original zip file and I can install and delete that without a problem.
    Can anyone help?

Thast's the one. Thanks Mike! I'm suprised to find you're not previously an Apple Discussions user.
I found the Dash Monitors widget a bit too big for me and I've got another system analysis widget running which was what was causing the problem. Stopping that widget meant I could delete the Dash Monitor widget.
Ideally what I need is two (or three!) Dashboards and for the dashboard to darken more or remove the background.

  • Mac Mini 2011 - Monitor Problems - Help

My picture is not sharp... just blury. Icons, pictures, text, mostly everything is bad except high quality video files.
I just purchased a Mac Mini 2011 second option and a Samsung TA531 monitor that arrived today. Hooked it up and to my surprise, it is blury and bad quality no matter what kind of resolution i use. I also try to text smoothening through terminal.. nothing helps.
    My setup:
Mac Mini 2011 - second option stock
    Samsung SyncMaster T27A531
    Cable: HDMI
After reading about this issue, some people recommends to use a DVI or VGA cable and claims that HDMI is not suitable for computer monitors, especially Samsung.
Please, feel really sad and lost among a lot of new computer equipment that doesn't work properly

I had the same issue and didn't want to give up my Thunderbolt port, so I opted to get a Gefen HDMI Detective Plus. What this does is make the CPU think an HDMI display is attached so that your graphics CPU 'unlocks' and full speed is back. The Gefen box can either 'learn' the code of any HDMI display in your office/home, or you can preset it as a stock 1080p display. TOTALLY solved my problem... even though it did cost $85.
Apple needs to fix this as so many people use the MINI headless.

  • New 2.66Ghz 12-core Mac Pro - Two LaCie 730 Monitor Problems - Help Please

    Hello:
I just got a new 12-core machine with the 5870 video card to power two LaCie 730 (30" LCD) monitors which give 125% of Adobe 1998. I do a lot of photo editing and want to use the 2560x1600 resolution on the 730. The monitor connected to the DVI port works and looks great. The other monitor, connected to a Mini-Display port only gives me 1280x800, which looks pretty crappy on 30".
Is there a solution to my problem? I thought the 5870 would power two displays like this.
Any help greatly appreciated as I am a photographer and not a computer expert.
    Cheers,
    Mike

be sure the USB dongle is plugged in
The adapter is an active adapter and needs power from USB to work
Unfortunately, we are once again having the future forced down our throats whether we are ready or not.
The legacy DVI component of DP is of the single link variety, hence the 1280x800. Best it will do is 1920x1200 when you use a passive adapter. It is passing through a signal generated on the card. The spec only allows for single link support via this pass through.
DO PC users have same issue? Yes and no. I got my first 5870 when they were hot new thing, nearly a year ago. I was eager to try Eyefinity. Through a painful learning process I discovered that 5870 could generate 2 DVI signals. DVI clock signal comes from card, DP clock is from display. The 3rd signal HAD to be a genuine DP signal. If you look in the forum posts of nearly a year ago you will see quite a bit of whining as PC folk realized that they needed an active adapter to run 3 @ DVI displays. I was one of first to reason that Apple's DUal Link adapter would do this. Worked great, I played various PC games in wrap around beauty with help of Apple's MDP to Dual Link adapter.
Fast forward to today. Since Apple has turned one of the PC card's DVI ports into an MDP port, to run 2 DVIs of greater than 1920x1200 res is going to need one of these adapters. To run 3 is going to require 2. So, easier to buy a 27" MDP display, it won't need an adapter.

    dovdov2,
are you saying that when you connect your MacBook Pro to a monitor, your Internet connection slows down, but when you disconnect the monitor, it speeds up again, and that this is reproducible from one day to another?
Does this happen both under OS X and under Windows 7, or only under one of them?
How are you currently connecting your MacBook Pro to your monitor?

  • Possibly mundane Mini-DVI to VGA into an external monitor problem

    Hi,
I've had a look over the interwebs regarding my problem and it seems as if it's not unusual to have external monitor problems but I'm not sure if mine is slightly different:
I had a perfectly working set up with my new Macbook (the white one, '06 model I believe), that was connected to my Hanns-G HU196D monitor via a mini-DVI to VGA adapter, no problems whatsoever. But for a couple of weeks now my Macbook just flickers a light blue colour, with nothing at all on the monitor, and my macbook is unusable until I remove the adapter. I've read about updating firmware but I can't see my desktop once the macbook is connected to the monitor so it's not possible to configure anything. I've read somewhere that my external monitor isn't compatible with this set up, but it was until a couple of weeks ago!
My Macbook's 4 months old now and since then I've bought a new mini-dvi to vga adapter and a new VGA cable, no connections seem loose on either mini-dvi port or my monitor's vga port.
    Thanks if you can help!
    Jack

You will need to use a mini Dvi-dvi and a dvi-svideo/rca adapter.
    Joy joy hallelujah.
Pardon the sarcasm...I just wasted 3 hours of my life trying to sort the issue out.
Heard a KWORLD PlusTV PCTOTV Converter SA235 USB 2.0 Interface would sort the issue out for under 40$ but it's not Mac.
    Hope that helps.

  • Apple monitor problem

Hi. I am from Romania and I have a Apple LCD display (m2454) with ADC conector. My video card provide DVI and VGA outputs and I reorder pins on ADC conector to use DVI output like in this page: http://developer.apple.com/documentation/Hardware/DeveloperNotes/Macintosh_CPUs-G5/PowerMacG5/3Input-Output/chapter_4_section12.html
With a power supply of 25V DC my monitor provide only 2 colors (when Blue and Green, when Blue and Red). The question is, the monitor is damage or I didn`t put some signal where it should be. Please help. Thanks

    Possibilities:
    Bad Monitor
    Bad Video Card
    Bad Driver
Another monitor would help in isolating the problem. If it displays the same anomaly, you would want to look at your video card. If not, the display probably needs repair. (You might also want to try reinstalling the latest driver for your card.) You don't mention how old your G5 is or what video card you have but the display, at least, is still under warranty.
You could also try resetting the computer (PRAM, PMU, etc.) as well as unplugging the display (both from the computer and power).

  • M93p dual monitor problems; monitor turns off and cannot be turned on again

    Hi,
we have multiple M93p tiny computers causing problems in dual monitor setup (VGA / Displayport->DVI). Our users (already >5)  keep telling us, they leave their workplace, return, then DVI attached monitor if off and they do not find a way to turn it on. This is true; the only workaround that has been found by our users is to bring Win7/32bit into standby mode and awaking it again.
Needless to say, we turned all windows energy saving options off (computer standby/hibernate, monitor turn off). Still the problem appears.
Maybe there is something wrong with DVI power/DVI signal?
    - Monitor independent, as far as I can see
    - Independent from Windows energy saving modes
    - BIOS updates did not help
[todo]: Try Intel/(AMD?) drivers, let users test.
I haven't seen exactly when the monitor turns off because it is reported by users. I had a testing machine, but was not able to reproduce.
    http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/A-M-and-Edge-Series-ThinkCentre/Dual-monitors-problem-VGA-and-Displaypor... is related.
    Anyone?
    Thx

Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store to have the machine tested.
Back up all data on the internal drive(s) before you hand over your computer to anyone. If privacy is a concern, erase the data partition(s) with the option to write zeros* (do this only if you have at least two complete, independent backups, and you know how to restore to an empty drive from any of them.) Don’t erase the recovery partition, if present.

  • Activity Monitor problems increase CPU and power burn

Migration Assistant worked very nicely, transferring from a Powerbook G4 with 30GB of files and data in about 45min via Firewire.
However, after 2 days of usage, the CPU was still running at 80% and applications were incredibly sluggish. My battery calibration at full charge only showed a little over 1 hour. Activity Monitor also would not show any processes -- the list was completely blank.
The solution was to rename the Preferences folder, allowing programs to create a new Preferences folder. I then selectively populated the new folder with the main old preferences for mail, Safari, etc. This not only solved the Activity Monitor problem, but immediately drove down the CPU usage to about 10% where I'd expect it. Now the battery shows over 2.5 hrs on a full charge with the screen on full brightness (and it's BRIGHT!)
Also, Microsoft Word/Powerpoint/Excel/Entourage: trial software on the MacBookPro will mess up your migration, so delete the trial software BEFORE MIGRATION ASSISTANT.
Hope this helps some of you out there!

Another thing users who run Migration Assistant should know is that many of your background processes and helpers may slow down the Macbook.
For example, I notice that a bunch of PowerPC menu items running under Rosetta slowed things down. Also, the Microsoft Office Autoupdate background process, which is started from System Preferences > Accounts > Login Items constituted one Rosetta process running all of the time.
When I remove/disabled these background processes, I noticed a significant difference.

My daughter has just bought me an iPad 2 from Dubai and set it all up for me but unfortunately the iMessage function doesn't seem to work. We keep getting messages, when trying to activate it, that there is a network connection problem - help!

Thank you both for your responses but my daughter was reassured by the salesman in the iStyle store (official Apple store in the UAE) that iMessages would work but conceded that FaceTime wouldn't. My iTunes account is registered in the uk and my daughter's iPhone has iMessages even though she bought it (and uses it) in Dubai. Can anyone else throw any light on this?

If you cannot remember the passcode, you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and resync the data from the device (or restore from a backup).
If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present.
You may have to force iPad/iPod into Recovery Mode

  • IPad syncing problem - HELP!

iPad sync problem - HELP!  I keep getting this message "...cannot be synced because there is not enough free space to hold all of the items in the iTunes library (additional ...space needed)"  and yet I seem to have plenty of space on the iPad.  This just started today.  I even tried deleting some things to make even more room, but it didn't help.  Any ideas???
I was thinking of restoring, but I've never done it...  should I?
    thank you!

KT333 Ultra; fuzzy logic, 1.6xp overclocking problem help !!!!!

Not that I am an expert o/c but here are some thoughts on the matter.
My comments are based on my experiences of the KT3 Ultra2 which is basically the same as the Ultra version.
This mobo does not have the ability to lock the PCI/AGP bus freely from the FSB. However, it does have dividers. At 133 a 1/4 divider kicks in. Above 152FSB the 1/5 divider works, so that at 166 the PCI & AGP buses will be back in sync. If you are o/c your cpu, don't go from 133 to 145, etc since you will be running the PCI/AGP buses further out of whack. Just go to either the mid 150's or to 166 in one jump. The other problem / issue relates to your cpu. From what you say you have one of the old Palominos which are not great o/c's. I would personally o/c your cpu from the BIOS rather than 'Fluffy Logic' which I would tend to stay away from.
With a 166FSB cpu a very stable o/c would be 175-177 beyond 180 gets decidedly tricky.
    Hope this helps

  • Itunes keeps closing as soon as i open it and states 'windows has detected a problem' HELP!!!!

Help!! Itunes keeps closing straight away and message states 'windows has detected a problem' HELP ASAP PLEASE!!!!

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
If you've already tried a complete uninstall and reinstall try opening iTunes in safe mode (hold down CTRL+SHIFT as you start iTunes) then going to Edit > Preferences > Store and turning off Show iTunes in the Cloud purchases. You may find iTunes will now start normally.
