  • Need in depth knowledge about Certficate request and install for Reverse proxy and CAS role

    Hi,
I have few confusions about Exchange 2010/13 certificate request and install. As per my understanding best practise is to assign public CA certificate to Reverse proxy and Local CA certificate to CAS servers but need to know that what should be the format
of certificate request? Do we need to order public certificate just for mail.domain.com and add SAN for other web services URLs and is it required to add CAS array and server names to this certificate ? In what case we will add server names and what will happen
if we don't add in it ? How the outlook clients connecting from internet will be using this certificate? I have very limited knowledge in certificates and it always pisses me off. Please help me with explanations and articles. I tried to google and gone through
many articles but didn't get a fair idea. Thanks in advacnce. :)

    Hi,
Here are my answers you can refer to:
    1. Use the New-ExchangeCertificate cmdlet to generate a new certificate request:
    New-Exchangecertificate -domainname mail.domain.com, autodiscover.domain.com -generaterequest:$true -keysize 1024 -path "c:\Certificates\xxxx.req” -privatekeyexportable:$true –subjectname "c=US o=domain.com, CN=server.domain.com"
    2. CAS array name doesn’t need to be added in the certificate:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2012/03/23/demystifying-the-cas-array-object-part-1.aspx
    3. It depends on the situation that you configured to add the server name.
    4. Outlook clients use certificate for authentication.
If you have any question, please feel free to let me know.

  • Need depth knowledge on these questions

    Hi,
    1. Under what circumstances are indexes not used by Oracle while processing queries?
    2. Why is comparison of 'null' values directly not possible in SQL?
    Please share your views..

    1. it depends (as usually) something to read about
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/server.112/e25789/indexiot.htm#BABHJAJF
    2. exception
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/server.112/e26088/functions049.htm#SQLRF00631
In a DECODE function, Oracle considers two nulls to be equivalent. If expr is null, then Oracle returns the result of the first search that is also null.
otherwise null is used for undefined and you cannot compare two undefined things.

  • Web Services/MDM - Java Knowledge

    Hi,
Does we need to have any java knowledge for programming, if at all our scenario is using Web Services as part of Implementation?
    Thanks

    Hi,
You need some basics of java not the in-depth knowledge because you dont need to create the webservice, only you should know how to call web service from your application which you can easily get from SDN.

  • Installation advice for xMII V12.0

    Hi all,
xMII is my first foray into the SAP experience.  We are planning a POC using xMII to build a simple MES system with communication to existing SAP ECC/ERP, various PLCs and Proficy iHistorian and printing to Zebra label printers.  We have a sandbox xMII V11.5 installed and working with ECC via RFCs/JCO.
It makes sense to use xMII V12 for the POC as we will not be going live for a year and the work we are doing now is discovery work.  We are planning a new installation as the requirement for NetWeaver changes requirements quite dramatically.
I have been looking through the mountain of documents on Wikis, document sites, and Blogs and have found Master guides, Installation Guides, Upgrade Guides, Release Notes, Config Guides, SAP Notes...  Then there is JCO, SAP JRA, UDSs of various types, Netweaver (UME, WebAS, CCMS, ...), JRE, database, Windows...  I am attempting to make a list of what needs to be installed and in what order for the POC. I have not found a definitive source of information on the installation of an xMII server.  -Does one exist?-
Here is my current list of what to install on the xMII server, in the order they must be installed.  I could use some feedback!
The server:  Dell Optiplex GX620  -  1G RAM - 2.8Ghz - 40Gb HD -Is this adequate?  More RAM? More Disk?-
    Windows Server 2003
    MS SQL Server 2005
Sun JRE 1.4.2_16  (When will this be upgraded to 1.6, or even 1.5!)
Is JAVA_HOME required?  Does it matter which JRE is in the Windows PATH environment variable?

What did I miss?  Is everything in the correct order?

P.S.  I have been impressed by the quality of the posts on this forum.  I look forward to joining the community!

    Amy,
This is probably not what you want to hear but the guide will most likely not be updated since the JDBC driver and it's configuration is specific to the vendor and not SAP.  This is the reason for all of the various configuration fields you see in the xMII Data Server configuration screen.  It allows the xMII system to support a connection via any JDBC driver.  The MS site where you downloaded the 2005 driver from has the Server URL defined there and there are plenty of supplementary sites on configuring the URL properly for your system.  If you still think it should be added then please create a CSN/CSS message requesting the change.
To cover some previous comments on the NW installation, plan for approx 2-4 days in installing and configuring Solution Manager; if you don't already have it in your corporate landscape.  The actual installation took me 20hrs on a 2GB RAM Dual-DualCore 2 GHz CPU machine and took approx 45 GBs of space (This is now required by SAP and last I checked was free).  You'll need this because it will help you maintain/manage your various systems corporate wide.  Also it is needed to generate "Solution Manager Keys" which are required for NW installations and to download NW support package updates from Service Marketplace.
Once that's done it's about 3 hours for each successive NW AS Java installation and about 5 minutes for the xMII v12 deployment and finished off at around 5GBs of space.
This is all in the guide I am putting together along with a "High-Availability" section which is adding some extra time to it's release but I can guarantee it's worth the wait!
It's nice to see that you've done your homework on this, hope this helps to explain and clarify...

  • Estimating Activation Time of Business Functions in EhP3

Can anyone estimate how long the activation of c.100 Business Functions plus one industry business function set (ECC-DIMP) ought to take when the transport is imported into a new system? This is in ERP 6 with EhP3.
I know some BFs will activate faster than others, but on average? In our QA system this has taken c.12 hours.
Based on Thomas Weiss' weblog series (great stuff there) I understand that (1) all the activated code is compiling for the first time, and (2) all the DDIC table appends are taking place.
So I wonder also if the size of the tables (# records) affect the run-time of the background job SFW_ACTIVATE_SF0X.
P.S. We are on Basis 70018, and may need to investigate SAP Note 1278120 (available in 70019) to get improved logging. I've also seen the answer by Ralf regarding SAP Note 1276225 to fix a bug in 70018 that reactivates business functions (this was in [Terry's thread|SFW5 repeating already activated BF] ) .

You may be try the R3trans parallel option from note
Note 1127194 - R3trans import with parallel processes
I have no in-depth knowledge on how the switch framework does transport but what I can say is that using this options certain phases of the import are running in parallel as opposed to sequentially when only one R3trans is used.
Note: This is not the same as the parallel option in SPAM/SAINT. This options does in-transport parallelization (one transport is imported with several R3trans where possible).
Just a guess, I have not tested that for SFW5.

  • Have a generic integration question

    Hi,
If you a have a non-SAP system (like Oracle forms based application using oracle DB) that is not SOAP/HTTP/JMS capable, how can I have that system push a message out to SAP through XI..Here is what I was thinking
    > The system outputs a file, XI file adapter reads the file and posts a message to XI and then gets putshed to SAP
    > Have an XI JDBC adapter read a database on that system and send the message to XI.
Any other options or architectures from your experience
    mad

    Hi again,
if the system has some kind of API then normally there would be a possibility to create a message and sent it to XI (push), rather than XI pulls the message from somewhere. But that really depends on the system and cannot be answered in general.
However database polling is not that inefficient, so you might give that a try. i have seen productive scenarios where the database is polled every minute and there were no problems with performance.
For the adapter development: we have done that and got our adapter certified by SAP. We are now developing additional ones. In general we can say adapter development is a complex topic, so it should always be the last resort if there is a very special requirement which can not be fulfilled by any other solution. An adapter developer / development architect would need in depth knowledge of the adapter framework, java xml handling and the backend system with which the adapter needs to communicate. So it is not an easy task...

When I try to run an empty, new application, I give same error.
What did I do wrong? Or I missed something?
(I tried google for the solution but I didn't find useful things. :( )
(I tried to reinstall glassfish and netbeans too. First deploy worked, but then it went wrong, this error came again.... :( )

Sorry to hear that you are having problems with your IDE. But what do you expect people to help you with? Try the Netbeans mailing lists for assistance.
You should realize that your first priority should be to learn how to properly package and deploy web applications WITHOUT the help of an IDE. When you know how to do that, you can diagnose what the IDE is doing wrong and based on that information figure out how to alter the project settings so the problem goes away. The only way to get anywhere in this business is to have in-depth knowledge of the technology you're using; tools are only there to help you, not do the work for you. As you are now finding out the hard way.
You may also consider switching to Eclipse because in my experience there are more online resources available to help you. Like this one:
    http://balusc.blogspot.com/2011/01/jsf-20-tutorial-with-eclipse-and.html

  • Starting with JSF

I have a hands on knowledge of JSP and servlets, and a very limited knowledge of JSTL.However i wont call the knowledge of JSP and servlets to be in depth as it is in case of JAVA for me.
I need to know if i should go strait for JSF as an alternative to JSP and JSTL or should i first go for an in depth knowledge of JSP and JSTL.

I think part of it depends on the complexity of your application. If it's just a very simple app JSP/JSTL would be fine, but if it has a potential to grow you might want to consider JSF. Either way, JSTL is just a set of commonly used and stable tag libraries where JSF is a full MVC framework. I think your decision is more a question of whether you want to use a framework or not.
If you are looking to grow and learn as a developer, JSF would be a good thing to learn. Take some time to go through the JavaEE tutorial. http://java.sun.com/javaee/5/docs/tutorial/doc/. It does a pretty good job of leading you through the various EE technologies.
    Have fun!

  • Information About Oracle Adf

Is Oracle Adf Framework Open Source ?

ADF is an immense technology that builds on top of other technologies.
So, before you begin, I suggest that you cover the prerequisites of Java, HTTP, J2EE and JSF - not in depth knowledge (you won't be able to move on otherwise) but basic understanding of the concepts.
Then I suggest you start reading Oracle's official material on ADF:
Oracle® Fusion Middleware Fusion Developer's Guide for Oracle Application Development Framework
Oracle® Fusion Middleware Web User Interface Developer's Guide for Oracle Application Development Framework
There are a couple of books around as well:
Oracle JDeveloper 11g Handbook: A Guide to Fusion Web Development An introductory/medium level book covering most ADF concepts.
Oracle Fusion Developer Guide: Building Rich Internet Applications with Oracle ADF Business Components and Oracle ADF Faces An in depth coverage of ADF controller and view concepts.
    Have fun. :)
    Venerate,
    Nick

  • Concept of free –m command in Linux

I wanted to know the concept of free –m command as there are different rows of Mem, -/+ buffers/cache & Swap in the output. As an example, it is showing 195 as free Mem in my server but 13850 in the free section of the -/+ buffers/cache. The output needs in depth knowledge of the different parameters of the command.
I hope, my question is clear.
Please revert with the reply to my query.
    Regards

This is my understanding. used and free column in line 2 can be used to find out total used and free memory for applications
    [oracle@test ~]$ free
total used free shared buffers cached
    Mem: 264122724 253692112 10430612 0 2074864 178696468
    -/+ buffers/cache: 72920780 191201944
    Swap: 8388600 0 8388600
select 264122724/1024/1024 "Total RAM" FROM DUAL; (264122724 ---from line 1 Mem)
    Total RAM
    251.887058
select (253692112-(2074864+178696468)) "used for applications" from dual; (used from line 1 - (buffers + cached) from line 1)
    used for applications
--------------------- (matches with used from line 2)
    72920780
    select 10430612+2074864+178696468 "total free for applications" from dual;
    total free for applications
