In Design Crashes when working in tables on a legacy document

Hi
I'm working on a legacy document created in CS5.5, the document contains tables which I need to update.
When I attempt to change the stroke or fill, I manage to update 2 rows before the program freezes. The only recourse is to then close the file, at which point a box pops up saying Indesign has stopped working.
When I re-open the file after re-starting InDesign the file has to be automatically recovered.
I have just downloaded and installed the latest patches from the cloud desktop & have installed the font manager fix, this has not made any difference.
So far I have spent 5 hours on a document that should have taken 45 minutes to update - who pays for my lost time? - I can't charge my customer!
Please can someone find a solution, I have another 10 documents to update.
Adobe in Design CC
Windows 7 Pro X64

Hi Bob / Peter
Bob You are correct, there is a drop shadow on the table, removing this has enabled me to update the table, however the design of the document requires the drop shadow, or a complete redesign of all 10 documents in the series.
Once the text was updated re-enabling the drop shadow caused In design to crash again.
So any suggestions?
At least part of the problem is resolved, I suppose I could create some shadows to place behind the table in illustrator?
Peter - Hadn't tried the tagged text export, I will give this a try and let you know if it's successful - Can I export styles as well?

  • Designer crashes when checking for contexts or loops

Designer crashes when testing one of our universes for contexts or loops.  I implemented the solution suggested in #1377869, but it made no difference.  Checking loops/contexts in other similar universes (similar in complexity, connection, number and types of tables) does not crash Designer.  This happens to all Designer users, not just me, and from any computer, including the server.
We use BOXI R2; Fixpack 2.6.
    The universe uses DB2.

    Hi Ingo,
thank you for your help. My next step is to open a customer case. But what's about the logging? Is there a way to enable additional logging/trace for the BO Designer?
    Best Regards

  • Adobe Crashes when working/editing PDF's

adobe crashes when working on certain PDF's that require editing.  Have updated to latest 11.0.09.  Hangs when trying to save file.  Didnt do it with previous versions.  Running W8.1 Pro.

File has been saved to Desktop, and C:, still does not work.  Seems to not mater where we edit the forms from, it crashes occasionally when we edit, but always when we save or save as.  Tired downloading from IE, Chrome and Firefox.
Running 11.0.09, Im running .08 on another computer which works fine perhaps I should roll back to a previous version?
Have also tried running AcroRd32.exe in difference compatibility modes (W7) to no avail.
    Definitely using Adobe Reader.

  • Dreamweaver CC constantly crashing when working with BC

    Hi,
Dreamweaver CC is constantly crashing when working with BC. I had lots of contact with the support, my issue is at tier2 already, I had telephone-support several times, we had lots of possible solutions. Nothing worked.
DW CC is crashing as often as CS6 did and it only happened when working with a BC-site. Whenever uploading to BC, there is a 30% chance that DW crashes. When having stopped working with DW for a few minutes (like doing something in PS) DW crashes in every case. 100%. As this must have something to do with BC, I urgently beg to check the integration of BC into DW or check the connection-mode.
    Here are my Specs:
    - iMac with latest OS
    - Adobe CC (latest )
    - German
    -DSL 1500 b/sec-connection
I tried saving the sites root folder on a NAS and on local harddrive. I tried with or without german Umlaute , no difference.
Sometimes I can cancel the upload-message and redo, then its working (75%).
As I seem to be the only one having this problem, I completely reinstalled the system and CC, but the problem still exists.
I would really appreciate any help or support from Adobe, although I must say, they already did a lot, but unfortunately my problem is not solved.
By the way, several dialogs with "dont show message again"-ckeckboxes simply come again, no matter whether box is checked or not.
Writing uppercase I (shift-I) insert content of clipboard and writes an uppercase I. (weird?)

I have had the same problem.
Had Dreamweaver support on the phone yesterday, after receiving this email:
Please try resetting the preferences for Dreamweaver. Follow the steps given below.
/Users/Your User Name/Library/Preferences/Adobe Dreamweaver CC Prefs
    /Users/Your User Name/Library/Preferences/com.adobe.Dreamweaver.13.0.plist
    /Users/Your User Name/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Dreamweaver CC
    /Users/Your User Name/Library/Application Support/Caches/ com.adobe.Dreamweaver.13.0
Macintosh /Library/Preferences/ Application Support/Adobe/Dreamweaver CC Prefs (if any)
    Macintosh /Library/Preferences/com.adobe.Dreamweaver.13.0.plist
Note: Follow the help doc to access user library.
If this does not help can you please send me details below to isolate the issue further.
    1)      Step by step workflow to reproduce the issue.
    2)      Is this happening with multiple files? Few sample files to test the issue at my end.
    3)      Complete System Information file of the computer having issues.
    4)      Were there any H/w or S/w changes applied on the computer having issues. Since when are you getting this issue?
    5)      Is the user on domain account or local user? Do they have admin rights?
    6)      You BC site details, including FTP address, Login credentials.
    After our telephone conversation:
    I deleted all sites.
I have completely deleted all versions of Dreamweaver, deleted all preference files and reinstalled Dreamweaver CC.
It's still happening, so I will be back to them tomorrow.
Sorta glad it's not just me!!

  • InDesign Crashes When Dealing with Table

    Hi Folks,
    I'm running a 2012 MacBook Pro, OSX 10.8.4, and InDesign CS6 8.0.1
I have a document I've been working on for the better part of 1.5 years now (a physics book, lots of pictures, diagrams, equations, etc.)  This morning it was working fine.
A few hours later, there is one specific table at the end of a chapter on page 199 that appears corrupted.  All the data in the table magically disappeared.  Now, when I try to edit the table, delete the table, export the file, anything, everything stops and crashes the moment the table comes into play.
I first tried just deleting the table.  Causes InDesign to crash.
Then I tried exporting the file to IDML.  Causes InDesign to crash.
I've tried deleting preferences... still causes InDesign to crash.
I can export to PDF still.
The only issue appears to be with the file (and that particular table). Editing other files, or other tables in the document, still works fine.
Any ideas?  I'm happy to erase the problem content and continue, but I can't afford to throw the entire document away and start over...  and anytime I try to delete the table, edit the table, etc, the whole thing crashes.

  • Win7-64 Photoshop CC blank Save As dialog, then crash, when working with video / frame animations

Hi, I recently updated to CC from CS6 and am having issues when working with PSDs containing video layers, or are set up as frame animations:  When attempting to Save As, the dialog will be completely blank except for the Save and Cancel buttons.   If I press cancel, then return to Save As, CC then often crashes.
Here is the Error Event from Event Viewer:

So far I am only having these issues if I have been working with video layers and then frame animations.  Frame animations in particular seem to cause instability as I can often work with video layers all day without a problem.  Then if I import video frames to layers, or open a PSD containing a frame animation, the Save As may not necessarily work.
Sometimes closing and restarting Photoshop will allow me to save again, but then sometimes a whole system reboot is required.  It is only temporary though.
I am not running antivirus software or other apps aside from what starts at boot.

Frustrating that this thread has petered out, since I'm having the exact same issue. Did you ever find a way to improved stability?
Also of note, the issue followed me across machines. Two weeks ago I purchased a new machine, figured if that didn't solve the problem nothing would... It didn't. :\
The only similar factors are that the machines both are 64bit Windows 7 (a fresh OEM install on the new box) and have nVidia-brand graphics cards. (Again, though - not the SAME graphics card, picked up a new one with the new machine.) No drive cloning was involved: this is completely new hardware, a fresh factory install of Windows 7, different antivirus (went from AVG to Avast), and new download of Photoshop CC from CreativeCloud.
Looks like our event details are quite similar, too.

I have Windows 7 machine and when I work in Adobe Reader with 2 documents that can be filled in it crashes. Protection mode is disabled. I have uninstalled and reinstalled, I have also repaired the installation. These are offline local documents not online.

    CraiginNJ wrote:
...apparently it is Adobe's Reader XI that is causing the problem even in other browsers even if they use a different .pdf reader code.
That's an impossibility. Because Chrome and Firefox use their own proprietary PDF viewer which doesn't rely on ANY files from Adobe anywhere on your system, you can uninstall Reader from your computer entitrely and they'll still open PDFs. If either browser still crashes when saving, with Reader nonexistent on your system, you CANNOT blame the crash on software the ISN'T there to cause it. Don't know if you've tried that but it would settle the cause issue pretty quickly.
Based on the rest of your post, it reads like you need to submit your feedback through the bug report/feature request channel and NOT in  a "user -to-user" forum where practically none of us are employees of Adobe (there are a few - but not here often), let alone developers.

  • Time capsule crashing when working directly from it

I use time capsule as a hard drive and back up disk. When working on a file that is saved on the time capsule, especially Adobe Photoshop, it freezes on spinning wheel and I have to do a hard restart.
The whole point in using time capsule as a hard drive is to free up as much space on my mac hard drive. I don't want to keep dragging and dropping whole folders to the desktop just to do small amendments.
Why is it doing this? Please help!
    Michelle.

I am afraid that you will not like the answer here, so maybe some other users will offer different opinions.
The Time Capsule is designed for your backups. It will not function well if you try to make it an everyday hard drive since it is a network drive. Access is much slower with this type of drive.
When working on a file that is saved on the time capsule, especially Adobe Photoshop, it freezes on spinning wheel and I have to do a hard restart.
Hopefully, these are not your "original" files. If so, can we ask how you are making backups of these files?
I don't know about Photoshop, but the experts in the iPhoto forum strongly warn against storing any "original" files on the Time Capsule disk because of the slow access and chances of corruption errors, which can damage the entire image library.
I do use Photoshop Elements, and would simply not consider locating the image library on my Time Capsule for the same reasons.
The whole point in using time capsule as a hard drive is to free up as much space on my mac hard drive.
Again, this unfortunately sounds like you have moved "original" files on your Mac over the Time Capsule drive.
When....not if...the Time Capsule drive has a problem, you will lose all of these files unless you are making backups of them on yet another hard drive.
But, since you need to have another hard drive anyway, you might consider this plan:
Move all of the image files and other data that you need for "everyday" use to the hard drive that is connected directly to your Mac. Access will be much faster and the errors will go away.
Plus....you can configure Time Machine to backup both your Mac and the hard drive.....so you have "originals" on one drive and backups on another.  That would be a safe backup strategy.

  • Designer crashes when opening form

We have a form that was created with Designer, but I am no longer able to open it for editing. When I try, I get the error that LiveCycle Designer has stopped working. The last time I needed to update the form was about two years ago, which I was able to do without any issues. The form still opens and works fine in Acrobat, but I need to make a couple of changes to it now.
I'm using LC Designer ES4 (11.0.0.201303031.892433), and I'm able to edit other forms without any problems.
The form is at http://www.sussexcountyde.gov/sites/default/files/PDFs/Employment_application.pdf, if someone else could see if they also have the same issue when trying to open it in Designer?
    Thanks for any suggestions!!!
    Debbie

I found the issue that was preventing me from editing the file in ES3 (or 4).
There were two text fields that were just placed on the overall form. Once I moved them into the page 3 subform, ES3 didn't have any problems at all opening the file. Thank goodness! I really didn't want to be forced to use ES2 just because of this one form!

  • Premiere CC crashes when working with finder

    Hello premiere community
my CC always crashes when I want to work with the finder. It starts when you select the scratch disk or save "save as" - (see pictures)
New installation and upgrades I've done several times. I'm at a loss. Do you have a solution? I have the problem only with Premiere.
    Thank You,
    Robert

I have the solution... Deactivate Dropbox Finder Plugin...

  • InDesign crashing when working on a document

    Hi all,
I am using CS6 and Windows 7. I have used Photoshop for a while with no problem but am just starting to use InDesign and it keeps crashing. I can insert images and text and save a document but crashes occur when working on a document -  most often when using the selection tool =
I get these two messages during startup so are these relevant to the crashing or any other ideas please?

@  Michael Witherell thanks for your reply. My InDesign is up to date in Help / Updates (if that is what you mean by the patch) and yes I have reset the preferences but the problem is the same - touching the select tool is enough to cause a crash. While  searching on InDesign crashing I saw a suggestion to create a new user in Windows. I don't want to speak too soon but this seems to fix the problem - with my regular Windows user (in which I do everything inlcluding CS6 Photoshop) and with no other programs running, using the select tool (for example) immediately causes InDesign to crash but with the new user it seems so far that I can use the select tool - move stuff around - with no crashing so far. Does that give any clue to what the problem is?
    Thanks...

  • DS Designer crashes when attaching UDC repo

    Hi,
Have just installed DS 3.2 SP2 on windows 2008 R2.
We have deployed the DS software on a server different from the server holding the SQL server repositories.
DS Designer is installed on desktops.
We have created a cleansing package repository and are now trying to attach the repository (using "manage connection") in the DS designer.
But when attaching the Designer crashes.
Not sure if it has any relevance, but we installed the SQL server native client on the client desktops to ensure proper connectivity to SQL server DBs and repositories.
More relevant could be the fact that we had to install the cleansing package on a client to seed the cleasning package repository. When running the repository manager on the server we are not able to create the repository, even if we have installed the 64 bit SQL server cnative client software. The repository manager simply replies that the repository we have specifed does not exist (Which is right), and then terminates (instead of creating the repository).
But as mentioned the repository was eventually created by using repository manager on a desktop client.
    Regards
    Thomas

  • Excel Crashes when Editing PIVOT Tables

We have an end user whose Excel 2013 on a Dell Latitude E7440 Ultrabook (Office 365 Professional Plus Subscription) crashes when the user tries to manipulate/edit PIVOT tables.  We've reached out to Microsoft support through Office 365 who've
    sent us here.  We have taken the following steps as far as troubleshooting is concerned;
Tried excel files on an alternative system (tried on both Win. 7, and Win 8.1)
Re-built the excel file from scratch (blank excel sheet, all new data)
    Updated all drivers/software
    Flashed BIOS
Repaired Office (Both quick repair and online repair)
Clean wipe of Office 365, and re-install
The data is financial type data and doesn't contain any special characters or characters that would most likely be deemed "problematic."  It's very odd, and frustrating for the end user.  Any assistance is highly appreciated.

    Hi,
In regarding of the issue, please provide us more information to assist you better.
