In Design CS3-document crashing on startup
I get a error and InDesign crashes when I try to open it and the computer refuses to copy it on to another disc due to file error, is there a program recommended to repair indd files? I rin OsX 10.5.6 och a G5
I have run Disc Warrior and the Os X tools on the disc and they both claim that there are no errors on the disc.
I know when working on the old systems Os 9 and older there was always tricks when copying, and same with Quark Xpress there was some ways arround opening damaged files (or atleast trying) without plugins image links etc. Thought I would try everything before having to spend a day to restore the document :(
When I try to pen the file I get "The netwoork connection was lost for the file Presentation_2009.indd, or the file was modified by another process. and then when i Click ok I get Adobe In Design is Shutting down. aserious error was detected. Please restart In Design to recover work in any unsaved InDesign documents.
I might have to accept disc error but the strange thing is that the maintanance programs are not finding anything wrong with it.

Photoshop CS3 Mac: Crashes on startup?
Hi all!
I just today installed CS 3 Web Premium on my G5 (Dual 2.7GHz, 2GB RAM, Mac OS 10.4.9, all updates installed). The install seems to succeed, and I've activated the suite, and all the other applications launch without a problem. But Photoshop doesn't. It shows the splash screen and gets as far as "Initializing Suites" when it drops off the face of the earth, and I'm prompted to send a crash report to Adobe (done).
I've tried restarting the Mac, re-installing just Photoshop, and even creating a new Admin user and trying it there, but Photoshop still crashes in the same place. So it's apparently nothing in my user account or just a randomly mucked-up install.
I did a search here for "initializing suites" but nothing came up, and even Google found just one other report of a CS3 crash at exactly that point, so a) it's not common, but b) it's nevertheless not just me. Hmm.
Has anybody seen this? I'm funkified...
PresRamón is exaggerating.
First: find the uninstaller in the Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers and TRY to run it even though you already deleted the application.
If it won't DO anything, go to Macinosh HD/Users/your username/Library/Preferences and delete the Adobe Photoshop CS3 Settings folder (and its content) PLUS the Adobe Photoshop CS3 Paths file in same location, PLUS the com.adobe.Photoshop.plist file in same location.
Then try to reinstall again.
If that doesn't work, run the cs3 clean again. Note that it is a script and that it asks you questions that you have to answer to and type in replies to for it to do anything. I fyou donät interact with it it won't do a thing. Note that it might clean out more adobe files than you would wish for.
There are instructions here
for how to unisntall the public beta of Photoshop CS3 but you might be able to follow those also for a non-beta. There are no instructions for manually removing Photoshop CS3 at the support center as far as I can see (on the other hand it is next to impossible to find anything on the support pages by doing a search.. search for Photoshop CS 3 for Mac and get articles about Illlustrator or CS...). -
Opening InDesign CS and CS3 documents Crash InDesign CS3
Hi Everyone,
When we have a CS3 document open, and we want to open a CS document simultaneously, InDesign completely crashes and will not open again until the computer is restarted. This has happened every time we have attempted this. Is this a bud with CS3??? The only work around is to close the CS3 Document and open the CS document, then re-open the CS3 document. This works, but it is a real pain, and time waster! Does anyone have any suggestions???
thanks~
Jarrod
Compuer:
Pentium 4 @ 2,4Ghz
Win XP pro with SP2
1.0 GB ramHave you updated CS3 to 5.0.2?
When you say crashed, do you get any error message? Have you checked Task Manager to see if the application or the InDesign.exe process is still running? There are a fair number of reports that InDesign "disappears" when opening files from Explorer and this might be something similar.

Illustrator CS3 starts crashing on startup
I am using Adobe Illustator CS3, the Trial version. It worked earlier today, I could work with it flawlessly. Now, upon restarting the program, it crashes. I get the introduction yellow screen that mentions it loads several tools, but after that, the program doesn't start, it just disappears. I can try to reopen it, and it will show the same splash screen before vanishing again. I can also not find it in the processes in the task manager.
None of my system variables changed since it had been working earlier today.
I have Windows XP Service Pack 3, and meet all system requirements - it did, after all, already work.
The trial is not expired, I started using the program today.
Considering that the trial is still on-going, I would prefer to have this problem solved quickly.Hi Mark,

I have also been looking for the Twain plug-in but can't seem to find this. Can someone help. I feel like I am so close to getting my Photoshop fixed!
I had the same problem. I attempted to uninstall the printer, but it was not listed in programs to uninstall. So I went to printers and deleted it. Still, Photoshop would not finish loading. Dreamweaver CS3 crash on startup
I am using CS3 version 9 Build 3481 on a Mac running the
current OS. It was running fine until the university changed the
location of servers, where my site is. Dreamweaver now crashes on
startup. The 1st message displayed is "An FTP error occurred-
cannot make connection to host". I have to click OKAY, and then
another dialog box appears that says, "Failed to create empty
document". Again, I have to click OKAY and then Dreamweaver shuts
down. I tried deleting the Dreamweaver folder and reinstalling, but
the same thing occurs.
Any advice? After the university changed the location of servers, did you
update the FTP
settings in your site definition?

InDesign CS3 (PC) crashed document recovery woes.
InDesign CS3 (PC) crashes when trying to open a ID document so I can't determine the problem. How can I open it without crashing? The problem may be a font or a placed image but I don't know for sure because I can't open the file.
It was on a PC and I brought in my Mac and got the same response. The links
are in disarray, I suspect that is the root of the problem but not being
able to open it I won't know for sure. -
Photoshop CS3 crashes on startup running snow leopard
I am running Photoshop CS3 on iMac with OS x 10.6.8. Photoshop crashes on startup or if it does start crashes when I try to perform a task. Startup crash gives error code -600

You should be able to remove the drivers in Device Manager – or just uninstall the Dell all-in-one.
You can also disable the TWAIN plug-in by putting a tilde in front of its name.
Fantastic! Puting the tilde on the front of the twain plug-in has sorted it. At least it's working until I can get the drivers off. I tried disabling the drivers, no luck, tried removing from device manager, still no luck. Thats something I'll need to sift through the Dell forums for.
But thankfully, Photoshop now boot and works. Thanks guys! -
InDesign CS3 crashing on startup
Hi
One of our plug-ins is causing InDesign CS3 5.0.3 (release version running on Windows XP) to crash on startup. This is only affecting one customer, on all their PCs, but we can't reproduce it in-house. It happened before, to the same customer and the same plug-in, a few months ago, and we 'fixed' it by reverting from the 5.0.3 SDK to the 5.0.1. However, now the problem has returned.
This isn't much to go on, but can anyone suggest what might be causing this?
Thanks,
CharlesWell, I finally fixed it. It comes down to an issue with Visual Studio: that programs built with it will not necessarily run on a target PC that doesn't have VS. You have to run a Microsoft file called vcredist.exe on the target PC, which provides it with the missing DLLs etc. We knew about that, but it turns out that when we decided to service pack VS2005, we should have downloaded a new version of Microsoft's redistributable program.
Why only this customer was affected remains a mystery. At a guess they have installed some other piece of software that included incompatible versions of some DLLs, and running Microsoft's installer fixed things as a side effect.
The crash I was getting on one of our own PCs a couple of days ago now looks like a completely different bug introduced by my diagnostic code. I'd investigate further except I'm already sick of this problem, and all I need to do is remove the diagnostics.
Thanks to everyone for their suggestions. -
Man. I've never been so disappointed in a company relating to
its technical support. First off, I just wrote a new post (few
hours ago) about a Flash problem that it crashed during startup.
I'm still having this problem. But the big issue now is that my
post isn't even listed anymore in the forum? It was there when I
posted it. Did you guys at Adobe decide to remove it for whatever
reason?
To add to that, I've been on the phone with Adobe 3 times
today. And as I write this I've been on hold for 67 minutes. I
called the same line from another phone and it says their hours are
up. So does this mean I'm holding on their support lines because I
called prior to closing and they just left me on hold? Anyone else
run into this issue?
Talk about disappointing. But now that I've spoken up about
that, I'll leave my post here again in case someone can help me.
And I'd sure prefer it if Adobe decided not to remove this post on
me.
So anyone out there that can help me I would appreciate it.
But the fact that three people from Adobe have not been able to
help, it seems it might be a lost cause. I'm running Flash CS3 on a
MacBook Pro. I was running it wonderfully for a bit over a month.
Last week I clicked on the application to open it up and it crashed
on me. I haven't been able to open the application since. I've
uninstalled and reinstalled numerous times and have gotten nowhere.
I've even done a Clean Uninstall as recommended by Adobe and that
didn't work either.
Right now I have a $700 application that I can't even load
onto my computer anymore. Please help. And sorry for the words of
frustration above.
ThanksAt what point during startup does it crash? I suspect a
corrupt font...?

Photoshop CS4 keeps crashing on startup
I've had CS4 on my iMac for at least 8 months or so now. All of a sudden it is crashing on startup. CS3 is also still on my machine and I tried to start up CS3 and it crashes. The seem to get through the whole loading process, the UI starts to display, and then they crash.
Also, I cannot uninstall either app. When I do Here is what goes into the event log:

Don't know if this has something to do with the crash. Here is the crash report. Any help is much appreciated!

I can power up my iMac and start Photoshop no problem. However, if I power up my Epson 3800 printer and then start Photoshop I get the crash. I then have to run Macaroni after I start up my Epson 3800 and it finds a permissions problem in some obscure tmp file that it fixes. Then Photoshop will start fine. I have had this printer for over a year now and the problem just started a couple days ago. Not sure what has changed.

Last night I downloaded the latest Word update. Today the first Word document crashed and I lost 45 minutes of work in spite of having saved the document numerous times. Why is Word crashing the day after a safety update? I have Office 2008 for Mac
One way to test is to Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, Test for problem in Safe Mode...
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive
Reboot, test again.
If it only does it in Regular Boot, then it could be some hardware problem like Video card, (Quartz is turned off in Safe Mode), or Airport, or 3rd party add-on, Check System Preferences>Accounts>Login Items window to see if it or something relevant is listed.
Check the System Preferences>Other Row, for 3rd party Pref Panes.
Also look in these if they exist, some are invisible...
/private/var/run/StartupItems
/Library/StartupItems
/System/Library/StartupItems
/System/Library/LaunchDaemons
/Library/LaunchDaemons
Open Console in Applications>Utilities, check the system log for the date/time of the last problem & next startup for clues. -
Photoshop CS2 crashes on startup (Mac OS X 10.6.6)
We have a new Mac in the office. We initially tried to copy all documents/programs from the old to the new, but for some reason, we noticed Photoshop CS2 would crash when we booted it up.
So we uninstalled CS2 entirelly and reinstalled the suite. Still, it crashes upon startup.
I reset the preferences using command+alt+shift, and I double checked the library to ensure I did not see a preferences file in it.
Still it crashed.
I then went and uninstalled all but the system fonts through Fontbook. And...it still crashes.
On a possibly related note (not sure), when I use Indesign, sometimes the type disappears or does not reflect a change unless I click out of the text box and then reclick inside of it. Because of this, we suspected a font issue...but after uninstalling fonts, I'm not so sure.Otherwise, Indesign works fine. (If I restart the program, sometimes it temporarily resolves the issue.)
Of course, customer service told me to "Google" the Photoshop issue because it doesn't support CS2 any more. I've looked, but every thread I've checked has been resolved by one of the steps I've already taken.
Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Here is my crash report.

Photoshop CS3 Extended crashes on MacBookPro
Photoshop CS3 Extended crashes on MacBookPro
I'm working on a MacBookPro Intel Core 2 Duo 4GB RAM OSX 10.5.2 Eng
The software is Photoshop Extended 10.0.1 and a Creative Suite 3 standard is also installed (Photshop is not installed because I've already had the extended version, both english versions)
Photoshop crashes very often and it doesn't save in psd file format. In that case the message is 'Could not save 'xxx' because there are too many files open. Try closing some windows and try again.'
When I choose New Document an error appear 'Can't read the document presets file.
When I choose a new Workspace the error is ' The command "Select" is not currently available'
Can't work!...any suggestions?
Giuseppe AndrettaGiuseppi,
Some followup thoughts...
25GB scratch disk is quite small. RAM may not have changed, but it's possible it's not seated correctly or that it is not working properly.
Booting off your System disk's Disk Utility and then booting off the DiskWarrior disk and running repairs should be standard/routine maintenance, and should be run anytime your system is not "quite right". And they should be run immediately before any system or application updates. And then repeat Disk Utility right after.
Most of us cannot read crash logs.
