You could try updating your apple TV and then restarting it. Bit of a guess.

  • When I click on a new tab, the tab will not open, so I can only have one tab open at a time. How do I correct this?

I've been using Firefox for about a year, and I use multiple tabs all the time. This evening, when I clicked to open a new tab, nothing happened. Firefox starts up and displays the first tab with the website I've specified, but when I try to open new tabs, nothing happens.

Probably caused by the Ask Toolbar extension in Firefox 3.6.13+ versions, disable that extension or un-install it.

    Help

    Dear Pondini,
I found the .exclusions.plist file at the 3/6 backup and it has the bunch of exclusions list...I guess this was the reason. But I really didn't set this up.
    Thanks again. Somehow, I don't have "com.apple.mail.plist" in "~/zzang/library/preference". I foundt it under "~/zzang/library/containers/com.apple.mail/Data/Library/Preferences/".
    1. I first deleted the current preferences files and copied the com.apple.mail.plist from the backup to ~/zzang/library/preference/ folder.
    2. I also delted all the files under ~zzang/Library/Mail.
    3. I copied contents under ~Library/Mail/ from backup.
    4. I started Mail and saw basic account settings and different mail accounts were there. But all the contents (mail, signature, mailboxes under each accounts (sent, deleted, spam, etc.), mailboxes on my mac, are missing.
    5. I rebuilt the root mailboxes and no effect.
    6. Hence, I checked copied mailboxes and got information and it only has size of 8KB each. When I copied, it was copying 6.6GB. I don't know what is going on here.
    7. Hence, I started again from the process 1 above. It is now copying 6.6GB again.
    8. What I noticed when I started Apple Mail, it says it will import mail but it was very short and then went back to the same status. No contents....
    I looked at more details...
Original backup has V2 directory and no other directories or files ~zzang/Library/Mail while my current Mac created bunch of other things over there. See below images.
    3/6 backup
    Copied mail on the computer.

My granddaughter put the Start Up Disk in the drive inadvertently and now the drive will not eject it or start up using the HD.  I have tried all of the suggestions for opening it that appear in the manual.  Help?  It is her computer, a iMac G3 or G4 with superdrive, the one with the ball shaped base.   Thank you.

It's a tray loading drive, there should be a little hole next to it, just large enough for a paper clip.  Stick the end of the paper clip in it and the tray should open.

I have an iMac mid 2010. After Disk utilities said the drive was corrupt, I ran the hardware test (extended) 3 times. No problems. I than ran Disk utility again and got 2 messages in red…keys out of order, and ……Volume corrupt, can't be repaired.
I tried to do a system install, but message said…disk can't be changed. Will a complete erase and install fix this ?
    Everything is backed-up.

    There's hardware and software.
Your drive could physically be in good condition but something has caused the file structure to be messed up (it just happens sometimes).  The directory that keep track of files is corrupt.  Disk Utility can help determine if that is the issue.  In some cases it can repair the problem but it cannot do it to a drive that is being used to boot the system while you are doing that.  You have to boot from another drive.  Some things DU cannot repair and you need to try a stronger utility such as Diskwarrior.
A failing hard drive (one with mechanical issues) can be a cause of file structure issues but this is by no means always the case.  Apart from looking at the SMART diagnosis feature of Disk Utility (and smart isn't totally reliable) there often isn't a way to tell if a drive is failing until it suddenly happens, which is why you need to maintain backups.
In your situation it does sound serious and not just minor directory corruption.  You can try erasing (formatting) the drive,  You may need to do this if it is really corrupt, in which case there could be underlying physical issues.  I use old technology but if you have the patience you can try erasing the drive with the security option of writing zeros once (don't do more unless you are going on a 3 week vacation).  This makes the drive not simply assume everything is okay by forcing it try every part of the drive by writing data.  If something is gong wrong you may find it marks a lot of bad sectors, or flat out refuses to format.  Then you know you need a new drive.

  • Error message: "the drive is not ready"

    Hi
I have an 20 GB ipod that I bought a few years ago (the one with the dock connector) and a few weeks ago it started to give me problems.
I can't transfer all my music from itunes to my ipod as the following message pops up after transfering about 2500 songs
"the drive is not ready for use; its door may be open. Please check drive\device\hardisk\DR7and make sure that the disk is inserted and the drive door is closed"
I have tried restoring the ipod and updating it with the 2005-10-12 updater. I have also updated itunes and checked both my c drive and the ipod harddrive for viruses, to no avail!!!!
I don't really know what to do next so if anyone has had a similar problem and has any suggestions on how I might fix it then I would be very very grateful
    Thanks
    dell optiplex gx220   Windows 2000

argh i have the exact same problem...
i bought my first ipod in june 04... may 05 i began getting connection and battery problems and so i sent it back... i recieved a new ipod of the same kind... black and white display, dock connector.. the four buttons at the top instead of on the wheel. now, four months after receiving my second ipod, i am getting more battery and connection problems, although they are not the same ones.
last week i got the same message you got and after doing the same things you did i gave up when it still didnt work. i today tried again to update. instead of messages like i recieved before about drive doors being open (after it had transferred 1000 songs might i add) i got absolutely nothing from my pc or itunes (which was open and playing a pearl jam song) and my ipod turned itself off (even though it has full battery). i originally believed that the source of my problems is that my ipod was dropped by my 3 year old brother onto my tiled family room floor (at it froze often) but knowing that others have similar problems im not so sure..
i have no idea how to fix this and i dont particularly wish to send my ipod back to apple and pay $250 for repairs, (for a second time), if that did result i would wait and buy myself an ipod photo for an extra few hundred dollars.
anywho.. if anybody at all knows anything that could possibly work that i havent done (not including calling apple customer service, i tried that last time and the indian man at the other end of the line was absolutely no help.) your help would be greatly appreciated
    Thanks

  • External Hard drive does not show up on Disk Utility

I have a External Hard Drive that I used to use on a PC.
Recently, I just bought a new Macbook Pro 13'' and want to transfer my documents from the old PC to the Macbook.
My External HD requires a password that you need to type in in order to access the files.
This password thing runs smoothly on my PC, which I can type in my password and get the files. But when I plugged it into the Mac, it didn't recognize it. It only shows the files .exe... and other that can be run by Windows.
So I formatted the HD (I already back up the data), and put it back to the Macbook, I still cannot open it. The system does recognize the connection but when I opened the Disk Utility while still connecting to the HD, the HD does not show on the left column of the Disk Utility.
    Then I'm stuck.
Is there anyone here can tell me what I can/should do?
A girl who spends hours on the internet and still cannot figure out why this sh*t is happening to her.

A lot of external drives use firmware passwords as a protection scheme.  To use them on a mac, you need to unlock the drive on a PC (I've done it in a virutal machine before).  Once unlocked, you can format the drive for use on a mac.  The firmware won't run properly on a mac so your ability to lock the drive from the mac will be gone.  You can still lock it from a PC (I think, never tried to firmware lock a drive with a mac partition on it).

  • Device Manages is indicating the driver is not installed

    Hi,
I have a HP Photosmart C410 multifunction device, which is connected to my home network wireless network.
I have a Microsoft Surface Pro with Windows 8.1 and have installed the HP installation sortware PS_AIO_07_C410_140_408 .exe and HP-ePrint-win-4.5.52.12202 .exe.
I reinstalled the software again, yesterday.
However the Device Manager is indicatijg that the Driver is not installed:
The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)
There are no compatible drivers for this device.
To find a driver for this device, click Update Driver."
How do I fix the problem?

    Hi Dave_C,
I understand the software isn't installing properly.
I will be happy to help you.
I would do a level 3 uninstall and reinstall the software again.
Go to the tiles screen, (start up screen)
start typing %temp%, open the folder starting with 7z, (Example: 7zS2356) util, ccc, uninstall_L3.
When the uninstall has completed, restart the computer.
Here is a URL to temporarily disable all the start up programs to see if one of them is causing any issues.
How To Change Windows 8 Startup Programs.
Temporarily turn off any Antivirus software.
    Then reinstall the software again.
You will have to follow the same steps to enable all again and turn the Antivirus software back on again.
    Hope this helps.
Thank you for posting on the HP Forums.

3G IPOD problems which are driving me mad and i can see others have had the same problem but i can't find any solution written down.
Basically my IPOD either freezes after a couple of songs or it downloads about 6Gb (of 40) and the freezes with the following message:
"The drive is not ready for use; its door may be open. Please check drive \Device\Harddisk2\DR6 and make sure that a disk is inserted and that the drive door is closed"
I've tried re-setting, installing etc but no luck. Any suggestions/solutions?

Hmmmm. I'm not sure how to explain this.
You need to change the Drive Letter for your iPod.
You should be able to connect your iPod then open Windows Explorer and right click on your iPod(which seems to be Drive E:) and change it to a different letter (like H).
If you haven't enabled disk use for your iPod it probably won't appear in Windows Explorer.
To enable disk use: connect iPod, open iTunes. Open Preferences and select the iPod tab. Choose "enable disk use."
Once you've done all that, try resyncing.

  • I have just installed a new hard drive in my imac intel 20" (2006) and now the hard drive does not show up in the 'select destinations' folder of the install program.

I have just installed a new hard drive in my imac intel 20" (2006) and upgraded the memory and now the hard drive does not show up in the 'select destinations' folder of the install program. I can see the hard drive in the disk utilities window however it wont let me do anything.
It is a seagate 1TB SATA II drive however it is displaying it as a 7.3 TB.
If anyone has any suggestions I would be happy to hear them.
I have tried to erase and partition and get the same error message each time, 'Input/Output error'.
I have tried starting the thing with the install disk which is Mac OS X (Tiger?) which came with the computer. No good.
    Anyone?

Thats correct. I can see it in the list however when I attempt to erase it or partition it it's like it's not being found or recognised and it throws up the input/output error message. I am pretty sure that the sensor it attached correctly and it is a SATA drive. I can see all the infor regarding the drive when disk utility is open and it all looks good but I cant access it or do anything with it. It's taunting me!
The install disk is in the drive and the install program runs right up to the point where you have to select the location for the install and there is just nothing in the box where you have to select the hard drive icon.
I have my suspiscions about the drive but any help would be appreciated.
