In-document links work in desktop Acrobat, not in browser

Scenario: two .pdfs generated from FrameMaker with full Acrobat 7.0. Document A contains a cross-reference to a heading on page 7 of document B.
Behaviour in desktop Reader: clicking on the link in Document A opens Document B, at page 7
Behaviour in browser with Reader plugin: clicking on the link in Document A opens Document B, at page 1
The second behaviour is obviously less help to the [human] reader. Does anyone know of any workaround?
[note: not random cross-posting, but I will post this in the Acrobat Reader forums as well]

  • Same link works on desktop BUT NOT on ipad -Help pls!

    Hello,
I have created ONLY a desktop version of this site, www.frabricci.ca. When I check the link to the clients instgram account (seen on the home page instgram icon & last paragraph of that page, as well as last paragraph on contact page), its works on desktops and on mobile (iphone), yet when viewing the site on an ipad the link does not work. Confused to why this would happen as I've only created one site with the same link - HELP PLEASE!

    Hi
I tried to check instgram account link from home and page and it works on iPad.
Can you please let me know the browser details and OS details on iPad that you are using , also please check with different browser.
    Thanks,
    Sanjit

  • Links work in iWeb, but not in browser

Using a blank template. established a photoshop background and placed transparent rectangles over the images and linked the rectangles. In iWeb (1.1.2), they work fine. but they do not work in the browser. I noticed a problem someone had by accidentally creating "floating" boxes. I have reworked all of my links with no luck. Help!!!

    I answered your question yesterday:
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=10520122&tstart=0
    Nothing has changed.
The footer of the page covers the links.
The links themselves are 0x0 pixels. The shape-images are 1x1 pixels.
Whether or not links work in iWeb is irrelvant. They should work in the browser.
    Check, check, check.

  • .SWF Links work in Preview, but not in Browser

I'm sure this question has been asked plenty of times before, but i can't seem to find the answer. I have created an advertisement with Flash CS6, Actionsript 2.0 (because it has a pageflip). When i test the file on my computer I can click on a Button that I created and it pulls up a webpage. If I upload that same .SWF file to the webserver, the button doesn't work. I have adjusted the Publish settings so that Local playback security is set to "access network only", and still it does not work.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hello!
Thank you for checking my pages. I did clear the cache. Updated software. Repaired permissions. Rebooted (a million times). I also made sure I had no overlapping graphics. The problem appears to be on the pages linked from This Week (in the navigation bar), the pages are Probability and Measures of Central Tendency. The links are in Text Boxes with frames on them.
I tried viewing the pages using Safari on my iBook, on an iMac using Safari and on a PC using Firefox. I get the same links not working. It's just odd that they appear to function "normally" in iWeb. I was hoping I did something dumb that I could fix quickly. If not, I'm having to do the pages over.
    Your suggestions are greatly appreciated.

  • Links work in iWeb, but not from browser when published

    http://web.me.com/mocote
All's well since August. Then yesterday, some links decide not to work anymore in browser. Can't create new ones either. What changed? In iWeb, all links look fine in the Inspector. You can click on all external links and file links in iWeb. Same links won't work in browser. Very frustrated. Please help.

  • Link works on mac but not on pc

    Hi -
I am trying to insert a jpg into a dreamweaver file.
I then upload the html file along with the jpg to my server in a folder called "layout"
    So the url is:  http://www.mysite.com/layout/test.html
The link works on mac, but not on pc's.
    Any idea why?
Some links work on pc's like this, and others don't.
    Thanks- It's driving me crazy!!

The link is not correct....you have it listed as" mysite.com", which I assume is where you are to insert the name of your url.

  • Web sites containing mms links work in IE but not Firefox 4.0

Web sites containing mms links work in IE but not Firefox 4.0. when I play the video in IE, I go into IE, and locate the mms link under properties, when I right click. If I copy the mms link form IE directly into firefox, it will work. There ought to be a better way to do this. Also, I am using a hardware firewall, not a software firewall, and no proxy.

You need to use the file:// protocol, but you may still encounter problems if you fix that.

  • Hyperlinks not working in adobe acrobat 7.0 browser control type library 1.0

    Hi,
We have used the adobe acrobat 7.0 browser control type library 1.0  in our VB 6.0 project to show the pdf files.
We generate pdf files using oracle reports. We have generated some pdf files which contains hyperlink to UNC path.
If we open that pdf file using acrobat reader it works fine and we can access the file kept on the path specified at hyperlink,
problems arise when we open that file from front end ie. from VB 6.0 which uses the browser control, we are not able open the files through the links.
Could you please help us on this. Are we missing any properties or methods of the browser control? Or we need to use higher version of the control.
    Thank you.

Thanks for your reply. I'll check at Adobe forums as you suggested. If you're right that no Firefox plugin is available for my version of Adobe Acrobat, I'll have to give up using Firefox just after installing it! And I do like it!

  • Links work in iWeb but not on web

I created a site (http://www.busybeetrader.com) in iWeb 1.2.2 and uploaded using Cyberduck FTP software. The links work in iWeb when I un-check the option to make them inactive. Once I upload my site, several of the links don't work. This has occurred multiple times.
I am also having problems with missing links to files. I open iWeb and get an error list of missing links. It includes pictures and PDF documents, mostly under the blog sections (Editorials).
Any help any one can give me would be appreciated. Thanks!

The "link" inspector in iWeb '06 is slightly different to the latest version.

  • Router works for desktop, but not for surrounding laptops.

The router I have is the Linksys E1000. I bought it and hooked it up yesterday and works great for my desktop but not for my daughters laptop. Her laptop has wireless automatic internet recognitions which allows her to pick up surrounding internet networks. We cannot figure out how to make this work. Please help!

Are you able to see your router's network  name on your laptop? If yes, then follow the below mentioned settings.
Click Start >> Control Panel >> Network and Sharing Center >> Manage Wireless Networks, here remove all the networks present and close the Window...
Click on Connect to a Network and try to re-connect to your Network, it should ask for your Network Key/Password, enter the correct password/network key and click Connect...
It should connect...Once you are connected you should restart the computer, it should connect to Internet...

  • Links work one way, but not the other.

    My site is sbrownarchitects.com.
When beginning from the Home Page any of the links work. However, when going from any of the pages back to the home page or to other pages, the links do not work. Help! Thanks!
I believe this is the code that deals with the text? I'm not a code pro quite yet---but its coming.
    <div id="container">
      <div id="sidebar1">
        <h3><a href="index.html" class="navigation">Home</a></h3>
        <h3><a href="about.html" class="navigation">About</a></h3>
        <h3><a href="Portfolio.html" class="navigation">Work</a></h3>
        <h3><a href="people.html" class="navigation">People</a></h3>
        <h3> </h3>
        <p> </p>
        <p> </p>
        <p> </p>
        <p> </p>
        <p> </p>
        <p> </p>
        <p> </p>
        <p> </p>
        <p> </p>
        <p><strong>646-244-5870</strong> </p>

There appear to be different versios of those links, particularly in the Work page, where I found the following...
    <h3><a href="index.html" class="navigation">Home</a></h3>
    <h3><a href="production files/About/About.html" class="navigation">About</a></h3>
    <h3><a href="production files/Work/Portfolio.html" class="navigation">Work</a></h3>
    <h3><a href="production files/People/People.html" class="navigation">People</a></h3>
So you may want to go thru and make sure the links for all pages are consistent.  I'm noticing on those that capital letters are used where they aren't in the other set, so that's something to be mindful of as well.

  • Link works in iweb but not after it's published

It only just started after I added a shape (I made sure to send it backward and whatnot). Anyways, yeah, the link works when I click it in iWeb but refuses to work when it's published. How can I fix this?

    Nevermind. I fixed it.

  • I can't open web links in Excel or Word when Firefox is my default browser, but they links work when IE is my default browser. How do I open the links with Firefox as the default?

I recently downloaded Firefox and made it my default browser. Links I have in Excel and Word that used to open with a single click when IE was my default browser no longer work. When I switched my default browser back to IE the links work again.

This problem just arose for me today. Very frustrating. Tried all of the suggestions here without success. Then a very simple solution came to me:
UNINSTALL CHROME. I haven't used Chrome for a long while anyway since it seems to have chronic problems of one sort or another. Firefox does 95% of what I need, and Internet Explorer can handle the other 5%.
After uninstalling Chrome I clicked a mailto link. It asked me what program to use and did not list Firefox as an option for some reason. In the Tools menu, I chose "Options" and went to the "Applications" tab. Searched for "mailto". There was a single entry - when Chrome was installed it gave me no options to switch. After uninstalling Chrome I was able to change that. It still did not list Firefox, but it did list "Gmail". Selecting that causes my Gmail to open in Firefox.
I have no idea whether Google or Microsoft is responsible for this, but I'm inclined to give the hairy eyeball to Google for this one. It's the sort of stunt they'd pull on Microsoft, then pretend it was just a mistake. Just one guy's opinion, of course.

  • Our web based application allows links to external documents like word- these links work in IE but not in Firefox- any idea why?

the protocal that works in IE is
    P:\My Documents\2010 Workshops\Nashville Brazeway\Nashville_Workshop_2010.docx
This drive is shared and opens in IE but Firefox gives msg
Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because the protocol (p) isn't associated with any program.

You need to use the file:// protocol, but you may still encounter problems if you fix that.
